Change in Proc
# Apr 20 2005 at 4:10 PM Rating: Decent
Just killed the Crypt Feaster today. The proc on the dagger is now 625 damage, Required Level: 50. Was disappointed on the proc really wanted the 900 DD. A 625 DD is really good though. Killed the mob with a 65 Bst and 61 Shammy, no problem.
dual wielding this proc - survivable?
# Dec 27 2004 at 2:51 AM Rating: Decent
I wanna know... with this off-hand and primary Dedgerex's cudgel (same proc) how long will a 55 ranger with a 180+ dex last?

My ranger has both so just kinda wonderin lol.

Good pet weapon
# Oct 06 2004 at 9:33 AM Rating: Default
This thing is one of the best pet weapons avaible, especially with pets now able to zone and stay between sessions (SM3):
Pets don't give a damn about damage/delays on weapons, which means that low damage won't affect them
Pets don't care about the lore stuff so they can use 2 of these at the same time
It has a high proc rate: VT focused lvl 65 necromancer pet dual wielding these procs more than 4 times per minute on average which means that it's getting around +40 DPS unless combusts are resisted.

The only situation where i wouldn't recommend you to give them to your pet is when agro kitting, but any other situation they are really really nice.

Dual Wield this with Dexter's Flintforge Cudgel and jack up your Weapon Affinity AA......

With a 200 dex and WA 2 they proc 2-5 times a battle each.
Evil
# Jun 20 2004 at 3:34 AM Rating: Default
This thing is evilly beautiful. Had it for a few months now and it has caused more than a few deaths, but it's more than worth it. Level 55 w/ 161 dex right now, procs about 5 or 6 times a min for me. Had it proc up to 4 times in a row before. This is only used in my main hand when soloing, certain death is assured at any other time. Of course when main is fabled ssoy, agro follows me sometimes, even cinder joltin my butt off w/ jolting blades. Have to stop attacking every couple of fights and chain cast cinder jolt to keep stuff off of me occasionally.
Price

It won't let me add a price, but I just picked up one for 1000 on Seventh Hammer... max I've seen was 3000.
Saves my mana
# Apr 13 2004 at 2:29 PM Rating: Decent
As a level 53 beastlord soloing in Dulak's Harbor, I decided to pick one of these up, even though a 54 beastlord said it didn't proc enough for him. I managed to get one for 3k.

With a buffed dex of 167 (depending only on my own buffs), it might proc 0-2 times per battle. If it even procs once, it's worthwhile because it saves me the mana of nuking or dotting, and it ends the battle quicker, reducing the damage I take and my downtime.

My Piercing is currently 192 (cap 209 right now).

I'm expecting it will proc more often as I raise. All in all, I'd say it helps me finish ahead.

Just to add, my piercing is maxed and also have eyepatch of plunder for more haste.

I use this as a ranger with swiftwind in secondary. 255 dex with HoS love it. Against mobs with a fair amount of hp get 5 or 6 procs 625 each time. Never caused me much grief due to agro since a play with a good warrior. It is a great toy and untill I can afford something better it will be used often.
not worth it
# Jan 27 2004 at 11:14 AM Rating: Decent
I have 305 dex all this thing is good for is getting you killed. Procs like mad and with haste cap there is not enough jolt/cinder jolt/jolting blades whatever do drop this aggro. I proc this thing 10-15 times a fight no tank even using all taunt disc can pull that aggro back
RE: not worth it
# Mar 15 2004 at 3:25 PM Rating: Good
Haste/slow has no effect on frequency of procs, though hasted, you may proc sooner. Not more often, though.
Actually you are Both right and Both wrong.

Lets say you are wearing a Fabled FFBSS (36% Haste) you will swing 36% faster than normal generating 36% more chances of triggered effects but it will not change the rate you trigger the effect.
Don't have to be a genius for that part.
But Xanto I can tell you for fact you are dead wrong when you said Slow has no effect on the frequency of your procs. Disease Slow increases the proc rate of any weapon; With Shamman spell: Cloud of Grummus (40% Disease Slow) while you may swinging 40% slower, you will have a 40% greater chance to proc. Trust me on this as thx to the advice of some other warriors on Mith Marr server I tried being slowed just prior to tanking raid target mobs. Using a weapon with Agro proc such as Blade of Carnage with AngerIII Aug on it I was able to parse my log files (even though it made a noticible diff in holding agro) and find out that 38% more of my landed hits triggered the effect with slow than without. Might want to try and remove all your resist gear get a Disease debuff and have shamman cast a lower lvl slow spell on you, so it doesn't effect your dps too much, but still adds noticible increase in procs =)
Thank you Good Day!

RE: not worth it
# Aug 17 2004 at 4:24 AM Rating: Good
Doesn't matter if you're hasted or slowed. The number of times you swing your weapon doesn't affect your chance to proc. That's only determined by the type of weapon and the wielder's dex.

Now, if you are slowed, your chance to proc per swing is greater. If you're hasted, your chance to proc per swingis lower

Only dex determines your chances to proc

If you use one of these on a fight like emperor of ssra or seru you'll see why it's worth it and then some 10 times over...

It is clear that this weapon is designed to make its damage due procs and not with DPS.
From my experience it is the best weapon you can carry as a bst with a level 55-56 (or above), when you only can get stuff due buying no nodrop items. You also need 200+ dex to get close to the full potential of this weapon.

I wear it with my BST now for 4 level (started using it around 52) and use it as primary weapon.
My dex were with 52 214 and now it is close to 255. Within a LDoN group it procs during each fight 2-3 times in average. In offhand it procs once at last, so I recommend not to put it in secondary.

It is most effective, when the fight lasts longer and the mob has more HP. When you fight greens (up to level 35 mobs) this weapon is not very usefull, because a weapon with mor DSP would have killed the mob and the proc from the dagger would come when the mob has allready low HP => overkill.

Speaking of a ranger that would useing this dagger, the ranger would be quite in danger, because due the double attacks... and with that would come even more procs => causing very much aggro.
I heard from rangers who died, because they made too much damage with it. :D

A tip at last:
There are pretty much low costing augmentions out there that increasing the base damage of a weapon. The aug would be even more cheaper with a restriction of a min. delay that your weapon must to have like 24 or 26+. I don't know atm, if there are much of those augs for slot4 available.

What I have forgotten... it procs for max. 625 not 622 and the amount is not random, it depends on your level. I got it around 52/53 and the damage was allready maxed.

Not Bad

Got given this today for free, I must say its really fun watching yourself proc 3 times in a row, but I'm thinking like, a 14 / 21 weapon which I can get for like 4k, compared to this for like 10-12k, I'm thinking my DPS would be better with the 14 / 21, As thinking I could hit for around 60 or more with the 14 dmg weapon and like 10 attacks doing 600 dmg or so in 20 seconds without double attack, compared to about 15 - 20 dmg on the peircer which seems to usuwally not even go off once a fight, I must admit it seems like it is just a play weapon, unless yes you have VERY high dex at 165 I wasn't going off that often. So if your planning on buying, just ask to see how well it works first :)
Procs

I have had this weapon for almost year and love it paid 10k Prexus a steal in my mind anyways.
When grouped in ldon for example where you need no agro as a ranger and fast kills i use this and swiftwind very fast dmg with 202 dex unbuffed. This thing pulls triple procs on me alot i also use Call fo Fire not Jolting blades cause the proc is a great interupt on casters do to the stun portion of the spell. only problem with agro is a warrior lower then me but pally tanks are better :) with warrior sometimes i need to jolt 4 times b4 i drop it pally once every time. just my info.

good combo or not?
# Sep 10 2003 at 6:34 AM Rating: Decent
im using this in offhand weapon slot and club of ice ocean for main weapon, a good combo for an ogre bst who solos alot or should i look for something different?
RE: good combo or not?
# Jan 06 2004 at 6:41 AM Rating: Decent
I am now a lvl 59 beastlord and have used this weapon offhanded for over a month, thought it was a great deal at 4k in bazaar. It procures alot for me with buffed dex of 202 and in other hand i use Delightful orb of forgotten magic which procures about 2-4 times per fight solo and the stell procuring about 2-3 times per fight also. Club of the Ice ocean is a good weapon for what its worth(500pp on TP)it hits farely well, think it was in the 70 range for me a couple lvls ago. But I really like the orb now which hits in high 80's sometimes more and procures for something near 325 points instead of the 150 on the club.. Just my 2cp worth

Do you think having the Steel Hilted Flint Dagger in your primary hand, and the Fury Edged Short Sword in your off-hand would gather too much aggro? :)

just wanted to put some real experience info on this item.
i paid 18.5k in jan 03 on xegony
my char was 51 or 52 when i got it.
the proc usually goes off 0-4 times a fight.
it's can be resisted.
when using it i keep jolt up - jolting blades was a life saver.
the proc is big time agro if you dont manage your agro well. i opened up with arrows until a mob was at 90%hp at that point a jolt was thrown, and then i would close distance and engage in melee. Second it proc's a jolt is cast, as well as jolting every few minutes. by doing it this way i maintained a 20-40 dps on my kills. hoppers and clockworks are my usual prey, keal giants too for a while.
I have never been killed from over agro from it, while when it goes crazy and procs 4 times in a row then i eat some hits, but i turn of attack and just start jolting when it did - that was b4 i got jolting blades - agro has not stayed more that 1-5 seconds since i started using that.
equip out - pre 55 drakel wolf claws primary, shfd secondary
55+ im using fellspines tail primary, shfd secondary
at lvl 56 with those two i range from 15-30dps on average
i've begun to stop using it as i won a roll on a petrafied rod and im getting 30-60dps on average with that as well as lower agro from lack of procs.
base dex was 160 - buffs food equipment increased dex to prolly 180-220 on average

crazy

You are nuts can for even mentioning such a thing, (unrealistic or not) may you be banned from EQ for life or strikened to the life as a gnomish paladin for saying such things.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 02 2003 at 8:51 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Unrealistic but if a chanter gave this to a dire charmed pet, since in my experiences charmed pets proc like insane amounts, wouldn't it tear the hell outta anything?
RE: Unrealistic but...
# Sep 08 2003 at 6:48 PM Rating: Default
actually thats a pretty good idea, just kill the pet and loot it when your done.(dispell charm)
RE: Unrealistic but...
# Sep 26 2003 at 6:47 AM Rating: Default
Not something i would advise PS DC pet can't be dispelled that i know of. Best DC weapons are Mage Summoned items haste Muz and weapons of your choice.
RE: Unrealistic but...
# Oct 25 2003 at 4:58 PM Rating: Default
You can dispell dc but usually happens is every week or so ilose a dc to a bad pull or train weapon goes poof. This weapon may be lost just for the fact delay is so high and some pets will not equip it
