Tinkering is depressing, spend millions of plat, then you have to go farm some sacred grove for years just to find out your going to fail when you try and make something cool.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 11 2001 at 9:10 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) As stated sirs, you can buy potions from merchants for around 11p with good charisma. That is the same roughly as it takes to recharge this item ... absolutely no savings or convenience. Considering the cost required to make it in the first place I will just buy the potions, thx~
Oh one more thing...

You won't find these for sale on any of the servers. Like Angelsyn Whitewings said, they are used in other tinkered items.

It is a required component to make the Watchman Breastplate. Which as far as I know there is only 2 of across all the servers.

These burnup on failures on the BP. So the BP is a rare SOB also.

I think I know the reason there are only 2 of those breastplates, they SUCK! If i'm looking at the correct stats it's AC 20 Effect invisibility (10 charges) wearable ONLY by gnome WAR CLR PAL SHD. Yes is has invisibility but the AC SUCKS and no other stats. Why on Norath would someone WASTE vanishing device on that??
Costs... and Skill
# Jun 11 2001 at 8:36 PM Rating: Default
Umm... Cost me about 50k to make this...

36 attempts between 150 and 169 skill 32 attempts were sub 160 skill. (Yeah, I know, crappy luck.)

It's not cheap and trivial is over 200 on it.

52.5 pp is the cost on the battery at the igloos with good faction and >=104 Charisma
Critter Snack - Tholuxe Paells
Comblast Fizzes - Prexus

sillys

In case you didn't read carefully enough it can be recharged witha class 5 battery. How expensive are those anyway?
Important because...

It's used in making even more Tinkering item(s)
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 11 2001 at 5:48 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This thing is WAY to expensive to actually be worth buying.
RE: Potions are cheaper in the end
# Jun 12 2001 at 2:05 PM Rating: Default
Dunno what server you're on but I've never paid 750 for a diamond and I have a full stack (yes 20) in my inventory atm. On Tunare I pay 500 each, always, never more, never less and people always want to sell them. Also a class 5 mana battery costs 52pp, maybe more with bad faction and cha but not 250. STFU until you can stop exaggerating and post some facts.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 25 2001 at 4:12 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Sorry oh intellegent one. You are too uber for me. On Rallos, diamonds are friggin expensive because they make Uber resist gear, which is used to fend off PKs.

Oddly enough, your sig says Stormhammer not Rallos. Didn't realize PK was so prevalent on Stormhammer. Diamonds go for about 200 on blue servers.

i dont know if it would pay for it self. how long dose the invis last if its longer it might pay for itself.
Worthy?

Dunno of it's worth, but I see warriors using this toy for corpse retrieval. I know that as a Monk, I appreciate the FD while traveling through the goblin mines while traveling from Firiona Vie to Dalnir's crypt.

Then again, the research skill needed for this toy might make the price a bit too... pricey. God? Crap? You decide.
