This item isn't just for monks and rogues
# Dec 18 2002 at 12:16 PM Rating: Decent
What about your friendly neighborhood beastlord folks. We have the same armor restrictions as monks, with a few peices mixed in such as the brown chitin legs and sleeves, but neither comes close tothe ac on these. If anyone gets them it should be Via whatever system your giuld uses to divide the loot. No clas should be excluded, though the ones with the worst armor selection should be considered before chain n plate wearers.

Just got these last night! Woot, go go new beastlord legs. My guild was kind enough to award them to me. These have got to be the second best velious era legs for beastlords (yeah yeah monks too). Oh happy day!

these are one of the best Beastlord wearable leggings in the game..
and i agree ANY class that could benifit from these should be given the chance....
and if that means roll, then roll amongst those where these would be an upgrade....
which basically leaves casters out
But leather class melee Mnk/Bst these are about the best you will see...
Rolling
# Aug 24 2002 at 8:30 AM Rating: Default
Everyone is talking about who should roll for this item. But by the time your guild is powerful enough to take ToV you won't be rolling on ****. Either the Officers decide where the loot goes or you bid on it with points u earn. There is no rolling at all. Anyways these pants would probaly benifit a monk or caster the best.
RE: Rolling

What you're forgetting is public raids; while some public raids have been using dkp, not all do.
E'ci does have public raids for tov, some public for ntov, and these questions shouldn't be shunned just because you live on a server where the high end is still a full suit of bronze.

at the high end of the game, who rolls for s***? seems most guilds have a merit-based award system, be it DKP or whatever. not to mention these drop off (one of the weakest) NToV mobs...it's not like you're gonna walk there and go LFG, hoping that you get picked up for an XP group like in velks.
Monk?
# Jan 08 2002 at 2:46 PM Rating: Default
Hell, I play an Erudite chanter and I'd love to have these legs - we have horrid agi, so that plus the AC would help me survive just a tad longer when mez fails.

The whole "this item should only be for this class" discussion is silly. If a class can use it, and if it's an upgrade to what they're currently wearing, they should be allowed to roll.

In some cases I could see favoring people for whom it is a bigger upgrade, but that's usually only done between friends/guildmates.

RE: Monk?
# Apr 04 2002 at 2:29 PM Rating: Default
yeah well if there's a monk there who is wearing some wu's garbage or drakescale leggings, guess who is most likely gonna get it? It's not that you don't deserve it, but if there is a warrior/rogue/bard/monk/rangere there, the casters aren't gonna get it. nuff said
RE: Monk?
# Mar 26 2002 at 9:53 PM Rating: Default
Not to mention that's it 2.0 wt and NO monk would want to wear it! heh jk.. seriously though.. the +agi (dodging etc) and the AC are excellent and should be thought of (in an award system) or be able to be rolled on by any/all classes.
hmmm monk?

Now I know I know...this has been said a million times but I play a Pally as my main and i'd be lying if I said I looked at this item and said oh yah monk item. I said OMG that would be awesome on my pally !! But really it belongs in the hands err legs of a monk. low wgt great monk stats. Besides lots of pally armor has alot more AC than this...maybe if we had no monk in the party I'd roll but even if that were the case I'd pass on roll if rangers and rogues were there ( which I'd hope would be the case BC with no rogues monks or rangers we'd be damn lucky to beat anything)

Anyway just my opinion: Monk first Rogue second Ranger third.

These legs dropped of Ika the Venom just last night as well as an ancient tunic (both monk items, best in game for them). The guild leader wanted the BP(monk) and everyone was happy to give it to him since he never loots and the legs went to a lvl 60 monk. These are by far the best for a monk to have. Ika is a pretty easy mob to kill. Very low FR so the wizards can use tears of solusek and completely own him. We had a near perfect fight last night. one warrior died to enrage. we even owned him a week before with an add. if you are in an uber guild, this guy should be pretty damn easy. he also drops very nice rogue/sk/necro items. we also owned eashan that night, he dropped a ring and something else, dont remember. good luck getting what you need people, and btw, NO ONE ROLLS ON THESE ITEMS, EVER. this is high lvl **** and believe me, if youre not in an uber guild, youre not even coming close to this. The only time you roll is when youre in a pick up group and something drops that noone else will use for an upgrade to something else that they have.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jul 15 2001 at 9:32 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) OK, everybody's talkin like this is the monks best armor they could POSSIBLY wear. Simply put, it's not. Take a trip around and find the Ancient Wurm Hide Greaves. 46 AC and NO weight. these (except for the UNREAL agility bonus) are probably the best monk legs in the game, but I'm still looking.

I play a rogue lvl 58 on Aro, and IF these legs ever droped its monks all the way...these are the best they can have in game...monks get screwed on planar and quest armor all the way up to kael quest BP with the amazing 23ac... anyway any rangers whining that they should get the best monk pants in game should get the boot lol fool.

BTW verant makes these items all/all so people will fight over them...and besides any guild big enough to get these will have full kael already so the other melees can quit yer *******

Oh you are SOOO right! I mean hell, plate legs drop all the time. The other day we had 74 sets of plate legs drop so all the plate classes got theirs. I was pissed cause the chain legs only dropped 31 times.
I would really like to see a guild where every member has full Kael. Maybe 5 or 6 guilds (across all servers) full of 18 yr olds and younger who can spend 80 hours a week in TOV have full kael but most do not. Now i do agree that a monk should be seriously considered but not defaulted. That decision falls to the guild leaders and any loot laws laid out before hand.

When are people gonna stop making decisions on who gets what? Who gives a **** what you think unless the mob is lying there and the item is on it! I dont come to this board to get your opinion on how i should divy out the loot in ToV. I come here hoping that the few people out there with a sense of purpose can actually inform those of us who can go to ToV what is being dropped and where.

umm I think you missed an important part.. "any guild big enough to get these" .. those "18 year olds who can spend 80 hours in TOV and have full kael" as you put it.. WILL be the guilds who see these legs drop...
and while it's true not EVERYONE will have their kael legs when a pair of these drop.. it should be kept in mind that they WILL get them sooner or later
the monk kael legs are an amazing 11AC.. all of the other kael armors are more than these here.. hope you can understand how unfair it seems, someone being greedy before they manage to get their kael legs.. then getting their legs, and having these rot in bank while a monk in the guild(who pulls the dragons to them in the first place) is wearing something with half the AC... /shrug

Don't sweat it man, you can get some paybacks on these guys when you go to the McDonald's they work at at age 40 cause they never spent any time doing anything else but play EQ. Supreme vengeance! I see what everyone is trying to get at here, this item is good for alot of classes for the resist and str, but what we should be comparing is that this is by far one of the best piece for monk class and not the best for most of the other classes....trust me when u get to do tov, most of your so said rogue warriors rangers bards and so fouth should have comparable if not better legs....where as your monk probably still would need this leg for a big upgrade....i've seen 4 of these drop over 20times of hunting in tov and all 4 have been defaulted to monks....other chain wearing classes, pls go get SEB SCALE LEGS! although it's not as good in str and resist, it is comparable.....if u wanna roll on this legs against monks, you're just being greedy when there's alot of leggings out there that's about as good if not alot better than these for your class thank you very much.

I'm really sick of monks laying claim to everything. I do not know of a single monk within 3 levels of me that has less AC than I do as a ranger. Rangers take it in the shorts as far as AC AND HP's, and agility is "supposed" to be a ranger primary stat. Yes there are better legs out there, but they either drop on the second floor of Hate once in a blue moon, or are quested for. If this dropped in a raid I'd say ***** the whiney monks (Who if I remember correctly usually get dibs on ANY wt reducing item in the game) and let everyone roll.

This drops from Ikiathar the Venom. He quads for 750s, is immune to magic, and has a couple hundred thousand hps. And imho, he's the EASIEST of the north wing ToV bosses by a good margin. You'll probably be in full forest stalker's gear before you fight this guy.

Of course peopel are going to say it goes to a monk, thats because they would be right, and people like to be right, right?

Ok, to all the newbies who are way to low, and way to stupid to actually get high enough and amass a big enough crew to attempt an item like this, please stop trying to 'claim' items for your class. We can all see this item is good, whether or not you 'lay claim' to this item however you can, it isn't going to help you get it, not one bit. I understand that the only chance you'll ever get to speak up as to why you deserve this item more than the 50 people who worked there asses off during the raid but, why don't you focus on items that are actually attainable, like banded armor, or even bronze if your enterprising. And, to those of you who seem to know better, the ones who spout off reason why their class deserves this more because "I'll use it more than you! I'll look bettter than you with this dress on! I'm a monk!" BAH!!!!! I'm sure the guilds that are powerful enough to obtain this item, have a loot council more than qualified to make sure this items goes to someone who's deserves it. And honestly, do you actually think they're going to read your post and say 'WAit everyone stop, he can't have that, a newbie posted on Allakhazam's today that it has to go to a monk, sorry guys, Congratz mr 12 monk, come claim your prize... wait, damn, you can't get here... oh well. BAH!!

To sum up, we understand that you like these items, because they're awesome. Please abandon these pointless waste of posting space, which in turn causes me to waste more good posting space begging you to stop your idiotic claims. The uber guilds who can get this stuff know what they're doing, they don't need a lvl 15 monk telling them who gets what loot. When you run your own raid to ToV, and head your own loot commitee, then feel free to state why your greedy selfish *** deserves this item more, I honestly don't care, but stop wasting all this good space with your stupid, ignorant nonsense and let the others like me actually read informative, worthwhile posts, like, how many people does it take to attempt this, what do you have to kill etc. etc.

I guess what I'm tryin to say is, until your actually in a position to control loot like this, stop acting like you ARE! Your a NOOB go back to steamfont and kill some more kobolds!
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 13 2001 at 8:54 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Dude you just ranting all of that wasted my time and space. I had to read all that for you to complain? Bah! These are monk legs all the way. We are so cheated on Ac it's pathetic. You know it's true so please just be honest and admit it. Monks suck blah blah blah....?? Why lay the blame on us we didn't make this game nor set the stats for the monks. So you want to hate anyone hate Verant not us !
RE: Listen to yourselves.
# Jun 09 2001 at 9:06 PM Rating: Decent
Not to say nuthin, but me and my friend both are both 49+ and are sole lewt dividers in raids. this means that we decide where things go. I have asked many times how my friend chooses who gets what, and his solution, is he writes down the names of people who he wants to have the item, rolls a die, and gives to the top person on the list. Only time he decides otherwise is if hes being nice to someone so that they feel guilty and give him next loot incase something better drops for my bud. Myself i just go in group order, and split based on whats what.

Ya gotta remember, in a raid with 30+ people, no one sees patterns with who gets to loot what, so whatever crappy system you come up with, like first person who showed up to get ported gets first item, so no one really complains unless a great injustice was awarded (CoF to the only necro sorta thing :) ).

This might be bad, but you get the hang of who to give what after you get angry tells from 4 monks and 2 warriors and a pally :P

being a warrior, I'd suggest you go after ac and hp more so than agi
oh, if you're ever curious about WHY some monks complain, stop and look at this situation.. a warrior who has access to these legs here, will also have access to getting the kael warrior legs.. stats;
AC: +45 Str: +9 Sta: +5 Dex: +7 Magic Resist: +5 Fire Resist: +5

now compare this to the kael monk legs;
AC: +11 Str: +3 Sta: +8 Agi: +5 Magic Resist: +2 Fire Resist: +5 Cold Resist: +2 Poison Resist: +2 Disease Resist: +2 HP: +30

you're willing to take a loss of 20ac(which works out to be alot more to your AC total than 20 btw), stop a monk(who is the one that gets his *** chewed on while he brings mobs back to you) from gaining more than double the AC on their legs, just so you can have 250 agi? just try to imagine how this looks from the other side for a moment

it dosen't bother me much, since I know I'll never even fight the stuff that drops these.. but I'd LOVE to see what a guild that is tov capable would do to a warrior of theirs who wants to take a loss of 20 raw AC just so they can have pretty stats :)

As an general bit of knowledge...

15 ac is the top leg ac for monks in the game currently.

By the time your guild is capable of hunting these, the rogues in said guild will all have *much* better legs items.

Hence some of the reasons Monk players point out when something should be considered a monk item, esp among nodrop items that cannot ever be traded.

In the end game...are these *really* the best legs for a rogue/warrior/paladin/sk/etc?

Take a look at the Kael armor for all those classes and look at the Kael armor for Monks...their legs are just 11 ac.

*shrugs* Just thought some of you monk haters might want to understand why some of these monks point out some of the items as being end game pieces for their class.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 17 2001 at 4:10 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ummm, according to the "balance" of the game, manks don't need ac stuff. Monks are a offensive tank. They are suppose to melee and not get hit, and let the ac tanks get beat upon. If you would give monks the ac of let us say a warrior then you would be the near perfect tank and seriously ***** up the balance even more. you guys get a natural ac bonus already, you get deul wield at level 1 and dogde to I believe, you guys get different kinds of punches and kicks not to mention mend wounds. You guys get a lot of skills and should be happy with that. There are a few class I feel should be able to complain about getting it up the ***** Magicans, rangers and bards (the hardest class to play).

I have been to ToV a few times, and although I am a plate wearing class, my legs do not have 15ac, let alone the added AC that the 25agil will give. As a matter of fact, I know plenty of people who are 50+ and are still wearing 13ac legs or so (can you say Ry'Gorr...or maybe Guardian/Sentry armor??) And what about bards, who, although being a plate class have low ac on most everything, get no AC bonuses just for being a monk, and have generally very low strength to carry the heavy plate armor in the first place. You may want to think a bit before you make a generalization like this.

# Jun 09 2001 at 1:37 AM Rating: Decent
if u dont have AC at or near 15 by the time you are 50ish - there is a problem - yer spening too much time XPing and nto nuff time gearing or something of that sort -- mebbe u PLed or GOT PLed way too much -- my SK is 45 and guildless -- has 19ac legs. yes i may be fortunate, but i MADE this happen.

i spent MUCH time in groups learning my skills as an SK. i found a daring group of 43-51 (yes just 6 of us and i was the 43 at the time) and was FD pulling icewell dorfs. and i am proud to say we were good enuff to kill watchers on a day when other ppl were killin stubbies which helped to empty out the castle.

an extreme word of caution for any similar levels that plan on doing this. it is sheer suicide if u dunno what yer doing. the watchers are 56 and they drop the 19ac legs. need 50+ogre warrior buffed to high hell and at least 50-51 cleric. we make uber XP and are the lowest level (avg.) group in the house. the most capable guys i know of any level.
Ya know...

Ya know, I'm starting to REALLY dislike lowbie monks. Is the class really that sad that you have to point out to each other what kind of gear you should be wearing? I don't rush to post..Oh! This is SUCH a nice piece of Shaman Equip.
Now about the item, Yes, I agree it's a Rogues item. The Agi and AC would be supremely useful to them, though something with Str would be somewhat better to increase their backstab damage. But at least with this on I don't have to heal them as much :)

And by the level you get this 2 weight is nothin' to your weight limit. Now I'm not saying this isn't good for anyone else...just saying it's best for a monk. There no feel free to flame )
RE: sorry everyone
# Jun 08 2001 at 1:15 AM Rating: Decent
Uh, actually, I was thinking just that. :) 2 stone is well worth it for the legs, and at the level a monk could attain it (its No Drop, after all,) a weight that low won't be an issue. Its either ideal for a monk, or for a Druid or Int caster who has maxxed out their casting stat and desperately needs more AC.

But yeah, I think the class that loves this best would be a Monk. :)
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 08 2001 at 7:25 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Dunno about int caster pants, but the kromriff military leggings are 17 ac and have str/wis, so as a druid, I say druids don't need these at all, ever, let the melee's fight over em.
