I was wondering, can a ShadowKnight equip the Horn of Hsagra in his/her offhand, using it as a shield, but perhaps with the added (accidental) benefit of dual-wield 1HPierce damage too? Heck, if so, I will buy one ASAP.
But, I expect that it just cannot be equipped in the SHD offhand at all...

Now, in EQ, if it says SECONDARY, you can put it in secondary as far as I know.
My necro uses a Sorcerers Blade as his secondary, and the sorc blade does have damage / delay stats along with a lot of others.

No, you have to have the dual-wield skill in order to equip this in offhand.

I recently looted this item on my 47 warrior and im using t n offhand with Swiftblade of Zek in main...Was wondering if anyone knew of a 1 hand slash weapon that id be better off with (something able to get with 2 groups of 70s or so)

Just sold this (31 January 2005) on Torvonnilous for 30K, after paying 33K about 1 year earlier. Another was selling for 50K at the same time. Biggest advantage (with the availability of new weapons) of Horn of Hsagra is lack of a required or recommended level requirement. Thus, it seems like a great weapon to use through about mid-upper 40s. After that, there are either better weapons or much cheaper ones that have the same or better efficiency.

I am a 52 warrior. I just got this nice little toy. Currently i am using a copper hammer of striking and sword of bloodsworn for aggro procs. Should i sell this, somehow incoorperate it into my weapons. (sell my bloodsworn). I have low ac so the 35 is heavenly. Anyones help would be great!

I have a warrior alt that I use the horn on. I think it's a great weapon, i'm sure i'll still use it at 65. The main benefit, apart from stats, is that this has a nice dmg without using a dmg bonus. Seeing as there is no damage bonus in your off hand, I use this as my secondary.
I'd keep all 3 to keep skill up in 1hb, 1hs and pierce..

I'm a Rogue and I was wondering if I should put this in my Mainhand or Offhand. If I put it in my mainhand, I would hit a lot more than I would with RB but my BS's will be a little smaller. But in the mainhand I dont see why it wouldn't do more dmg than having RB in main. Can someone please help me out?

Guess it's all a matter of perspective, but I'd put the horn in your primary and RB in secondary. The horn is a much faster weapon allowing duel wield to work more often. The horn also has a better ratio making for better DPS than the other way around, even if only a slight differance. Typically you want your fast weapon in PRI and power weapon in SEC, gives you the best duel-wield DPS.
Backstabs are supposedly more powerful with the power weapon in primary, but seeing as you'll only get about 1 BS per 10 normal attacks with the horn, your backstab would have to do 10x the damage of a regular attack to balance it out. I know at level 41 my horn is doing about 20-40 damage per hit and backstabs for around 170, so I'd prefer faster attacks to stronger backstabs. The ratios are nearly identical though.
My suggestion: Horn in PRI, Ragebringer in SEC

Towards level 65 I'd imagine you could wield the Horn in offhand because your dual wield (and double attack) ability should be high enough that you quad constantly.. especially if you've trained AA points into Ambidexterity (improves dual wield) and Ferocity (PoP ability that improves double attack).
You may want to ask a 60+ rogue if they'd concur because my main is not melee class (I have a rogue alt).. but it seems a fair assumption based on observations made.

from what i hear, and i might just as easily be wrong. for rouges backstab you want a high damage weapon in main, and a good ratio weapon in off, if im wrong i dont care so flame to your hearts content, have fun.
The general consensus I've seen is high damage in primary, good ratio in secondary. For rogues in the high end that usually ends up being a powerful piercer in primary (most of their damage is from backstab) and a 1.0+ ratio blunt weapon in secondary.

If you switch them both out each time RB in mainhand and HoH in offhand, then switch them to the other set up, the HoH outdamages the ragebringer as it is able to take advantage of the primary hitting much more with lower delay and you do not lose a huge amount of Backstab damage. I suppose on incredibly long fights it may add up, but garunteed the HoH is better not only in exp situations but in many high end raids, as is primal. (Effects favor HoH even more if Avatar is on)

I just won this the other day, my guild pulled tormax to the wl zone and we owned him, pretty fast fight, easier than vindi imo, we only losy 4 or 5 peeps to him the whole fight, he dropped 4 items including this dagger, i won the roll and really didnt know what i was getting, when i saw the stats my jaw dropped hehe, as a ranger with only "Swiftwind" epic sword and not "Earthcaller" yet i was in need of a nice upgrade witch this fine dagger did, I love the stats and the damage is unsurpassable to my previous weapon "velium maul of superiority" 11/18, the maul weights to much and drains my sta down to fast for lengthy solo fights, with the dagger equiped in primaty and swiftwind in the usual secondary slot I can solo amazingly well in places like velks and fungus grove, I use swarmcaller for slow proc and switch to 1hs 1hp to finish out the fight, works great for me, i have just a shade under 2700hp self buffed with 1120ac so i can take a couple hits from regular type mobs till slow procs. I am still working on last epic though for the better slow proc and only have to switch out 1 weapon insted of 2 then. This is great weapon for any class that can use it, its a versitile weapon for many, I have never been one to claim any weapon "Belongs" to one class if several are listed on it, so grats to all who gets this fine weapon.

Just an fyi, when you get post 60, sell the piercer, there are better wepons out there, and your Pierce cap is 240...wich means less damage then a 1hs weapon.

Because it does not outdamage Ragebringer in main hand (rogues argue over this, but the log parser5s seem to agree). So for a rogue this is just a very fancy off hand weapon. Sure rogues want it, but there is no reason to default it to them.
Horn of Hsagra does outdamage Ragebringer as a mainhand weapon on high mitigation (high AC) mobs. Like most Luclin bosses for instance. On normal AC mobs Rage and HoH are usually pretty close in DPS.

If it did not outdamage it, why would people use primal in mainhand. (FYI, it procs enough in offhand so that in an exp group and on raids, you never loose the effect)

I have a 13/18 serrated dragon tooth
a 13/20 primal 1hb and
epic 15/25
(60 rogue btw)
atm i still use my epic in main hand, and primal in offhand and not the serated dragon tooth (13/18) becuase i like the BS damage too much of the epic, and can put the SDT in range. When soloing tho i take away the epic and put SDT in main hand and pimal in offhand. I think if i got a primal spear i would put it in main hand till it proced (main hand procs far more than offhand) and epic in offhand, then switch.
If you have primal + epic you dont really need this weapon, its just a nice option, im sure someone without primal could use it more eg a non sleepered keyed warrior.

/shrug personally if I were you and lucky enough to get a primal spear I would slap the SDT or this horn in offhand until I got claw of lightning or some other crazy weapon and not even use the primal unless I needed the proc for a named fight. If that is the case you can always swap epic out for primal or if you like the haste put epic offhand, primal main and this or SDT in inventory or ranged slot until avatar goes off.
Also if your guild is doing sleepers you should really consider getting a tunare dagger or /drool vyemm fang/mrylo dagger (well not so much anymore now that vulak is nerfed) to replace epic because the ratio is not amazing.

That combo is also UBER TAUNT, ownage=true but considering all the facts yes this taunts ur butt off with RB :)
