You know, you peeps keep going on about who should get this weapon. Who really cares? If you are a monkie, and want to use it, Great! By all means, use it! If you are a warrior and want to use it, same thing, USE IT!! Not to flame, but you all sound like a bunch of 3 year olds bickering who's GIJoe should get to use the hand grenade or the machine gun. IT DOESN'T MATTER!! Use what you want, It's just a GAME!!
Actually, I came over here because my friend in the other room was having trouble holding aggro from a monk as a 59 ranger, because the monk was gaining aggro too frequently. Now, if a ranger wants to hold aggro, he will hold aggro, unless someone else is doing something stupid. Their level 9 DoT causes an INSANE amount of aggro because of it's 12 AC debuff, and he was recasting it over and over.
To give you an example of how much it is, he was once aggro-kiting in PoF, and pulled by casting the spell 5 times and ensnaring. No one in the entire group gained aggro for the rest of the fight. The group made it a challenge to try to gain aggro and it didn't work, to the point where it annoyed some of them.
Now if a monk with this weapon can get aggro from him when he is taunting, using 12 22 and 13 23 weapons (second one being epic), snaring, and using flame lick repeatedly, there is something wrong. Not trying to make anyone mad, but this doesn't belong in the hands of anyone who isn't tanking. Use an alternate weapon if you need to, because this thing causes aggro to no end.

woot some smart reactions and it all depends on how you play the toon what are the common tactics in the group etc. etc. My guild is a bit too much bagic based and we lack chanters and warriors. So some of our casters have journeyman walking sticks they lend to warriors, not because it is such a great weapon on it's own but because in certain situations it makes others preform better when dealing with resisting guys for instance and there are obviously reasons for some classes to use this weap as a main and there are situations that a less obvious class will use a weap like this with very excellent reasons. No weap unless it's class specific is solely for a class. There are always reasons to mention why it should be used or why it shouldn't.
In the end the discussion about who or who should not use it as a default is mostly based on jealousy and is won by the one who can think of most reasons for the other one not to have it.

thanks brother. I am a monk but if its dropped in one of our raid and if a warrior want to use it I dont know why he couldn't role for.

I find that using these with the combonation of an RBB and gnome Tinkerman Arms (40% stackable Haste) That I literally tear the knee caps off any mob, ******* Warning these weapons can be Habit Forming

I love EQ, I talk about it at work till my co-workers get tired of it... my wife has talked about divorcing me so I can be with the game instead, and my best friend finally gave in and started playing so we can "hang out more".
But oh my freakin god, to spend $2,000.00 REAL MONEY on something for your toon (reminder: not real) in the game... that clearly crosses the line into utter insanity... people that would do this should seriously consider psychiatric help first.
...and I thought I had it bad with my EQ addiction.

heh. whoever pays that much real money is crazy, and got ripped off. one, they still drop, so people say, even after sleeper been awakened. two, thats enough money for a new computer. nothing justifies spending that much on a damn virtual "item" within a game.

The sleeper sounds like a nasty beast?! im kinda a newbie with my highest charecter only level 40 (druid) an dont know much stuff about this guy only that he's as hard as **** an he can zone...if he can zone an no one can kill him how do u all live in peice? is he wandering around norath till all the players in the game attack!? whats he look like? give me alot of info on this guy he sounds interesting! and also...this weapon for 300k!??!?!?!?! my god i dont think its that great! whats so great about it? its good but there are tons of more weapons better than this an at a much lower price, please tell me? why is this priced so high?blah blah blah im tired im going to bed

Posted: Apr 03 2002 at 4:02 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) first of all the only way a monk could use this would be to solo, any guild would not let u use this or dual weild it on a raid if ur a monk or probly any other class that can use other then a war, simply because the proc on this thing causes a tone of agro and at the rate monks hit it would be procing alot and when a north TOV mob turns around and starts beating on a monk he dont last long,, so usually these are only givin to wars, like there are better things for a monk dmg/dly ratio wise that dont have procs which cause so much agro

This is pretty much a warrior only weapon. Monks do have good AC/HP at higher lvls it's just that monks are one of the warriors biggest competitors for aggro and this weapon builds aggro very well. Monks have much better weapons avialible to them and at lower lvls, too.

Fo shizo, I know the big problem I have when playing a warrior is I can never find enough mana items. What good does C3 do me when I have no mana? NONE. So this is obviously a warrior item. Just can't wait till im high enough to solo in here.

ok i play on inny. i am about to buy one of these off a friend thats quitting game. im paying him 200 dollars american. my monk is now 58 and a half and has cloak of flames and epic. i was wondering one thing this in primary or fists. im also getting sum other awesome gear off him and am gonna be selling alot of it and am gonna be looking for one crazy off hander any ideas?

these sell for 250k max on xegony, and thats cheapest damn prices ya can get, sell this and get some ******* weps, btw if yer usein this, use it in offhand, i have a 60 warrior friend that uses these, only seen him kill stuff in icewell, but DAMN he hits hard, fast, and keeps aggro very well, its a 250DD (i think), in short this weapon is known as super-taunto-*********************************** so is purty damn good, sell this get a IFS as 2hb or get one of those 2hb smasher weps from ToV (E.G. facesmasher, rocksmasher) and buy some uber 1h weps or get good armor, hell god MQin fer yer epic armor!

I hope you enjoy lots of CR's. This thing in the hands of a monk will generate sick amounts of agro that you will not be wanting when you fight the heavy hitters. My recommendation is to sell this thing to some warrior and use the tons of pp to buy whatever will help you as a monk. If you choose to keep it, just be prepared for lots of angry unwanted attention. Good luck.

You really don't do many CRs at the level. I usually get rezzed within 4 minutes of death (unless it's a raid cause clerics can't waste much mana) Still, it's a monk's job to deal damage, why do you think we have triple attack? Also, if you go below 2 bubbles (don't risk it) just FD and call for a heal and just hope you don't get a smashing AoE to wake you up. =P

SoD does bring in alot of agro but monks get ALOT better wepons then it, so stop acting like any monk with a sod is gonna die on a raid. A good tank will have the AOW sword and Ichorflow or something of the sort and will hold agro off you very well. (what weps you say? Fist of nature, Horns of chaos and many many others). and if your gonna scream about its proc, I really dont know many end game monk weps that dont have a proc.

I also bet your friend never drops the aggro.
Not the best thing for a secondary melee to take all the hits, while its very tempting to have 2, Unless your someone who likes being the MT I dont think you will want to duel wield this. :)

Just a quick question here. Where do you get your information from on how many people have this item? If it is from this site then may I remind you that not everyone lists every item every alt or main has (even items as nice as this). Not to mention there are those people that do not use this site *gasp*.
If there is a definite way to tell how many people have a given item I would love to know how, as it would help define how "rare" a given item is. I'm not meaning to flame here, I really would like to know (I just don't think there is a way).

Actually, I am on the Povar sever and know of 3 people that have them, and two of them are Duel Wielding them. Ever think that possibly more than 18 could be out there? Possibly there is just 18 on your server as they stop droping after the sleeper is awoken.

i play on povar as well, and i have seen and played in arena with more than 5 different people who have them, Source has two, and Ldiian has one, there are a few others in Triton/RA who i hav e seen with it, definatly alot more than 18 total though some servers haven't even awoken sleeper yet

It's a main hand warrior item. Primal in offhand. When you proc avatar you proc with the SoD more and it does act as a huge taunt... not that it means alot... cause he rest of your raid should be smart enough to manage their own aggro and keep aggro on the main.

I use this as my main wep. Katana of pain secondary, Gnomes need the Katana for maxing HP

First off, I am a level 60 monk with SoD/Primal for weapons. If you know what your doing in the first place and let your main tank get aggro for 10 sec before you attack any uber mob, you won't get aggro. Its resisted mostly, but proc does land sometimes. If you just happen to get aggro, FD duhhhh. Anyways, my question here is what level does the SoD proc? I tried it on my 40 warrior and it doesnt proc, then I let a friend of mine try it out on his 47 monk, and it proced..... /shrug
I just have one question....why have you not traded in your primal with the dorf that sits on sleepers? Those fists are beyond amazing...
