If the Sceptre of Destruction is truly a one-per-server item, should it not have the esteemed "ARTIFACT" label in the inspection window?

Afterthought:

Some lootable items dropped in Monster Missions (ie. High Hold Pass's goblins-take-over-HHK) have "ARTIFACT" label. Perhaps this label means something different now, or they just flagged them incorrectly?

Veeshan there was 4 for sale in bazaar today, all for 350k+ each. so they are not only 1 per server items so they can not be labeled as an artifact
Not dropping

Sleeper is dead on all but 1 or 2 servers as of today. It's safe to say this item nolonger drops.

While I agree in spirit, I have to disagree. If a person comes here seeking such information. It becomes misleading info. on "Allah's" part to say it "no longer drops" taken on its face without some type of footnote, if it indeed still drops on that persons server, imo. To me whether one can go hunt it or not, or it's rarity to come to market are important factors.
Still possible...

It is STILL possible to get it from a different server. Just get a character transfer(The one WITH items) to the server that has awakened the Sleeper.
No Longer Dropped?

I heard it was no longer dropped. Can someone tell me if this is true or not?
RE: No Longer Dropped?
# Aug 17 2004 at 5:08 PM Rating: Good
It still drops.... as long as your server has not awoken the Sleeper. Once he's been wakened, then you will no longer find this dropping in the zone. The Sleeper's Tomb zone changes when the Sleeper has been awaken. The Warders no longer spawn and you will find Ancients in their place.

I think that only Morden Rasp and Firiona Vie have sleeper still asleep. Maybe Stromm... but don't quote me on that.

I can confirm that Stromm still has the Sleeper, well, speeling. As I see SoDs beeing sold all the time for about 200k. Dont believe me if you dont want to.

as far as i know know one on the rathe has awoken the sleeper eather can buy a SoD for about 200k
RE: No Longer Dropped?
# Feb 26 2006 at 1:20 PM Rating: Default
Just cause you see SoD's being sold doesnt mean that the sleeper is still asleep. I was on stormhammer for a while and brought back 1 SoD and 2 BoC's to my home sever from there. There was probably lots of SoD's farmed before sleeper was killed/awoken. The only way to be 100% positive that he is asleep is to go to his tomb, fight/invis your way to his chamber and visually see that he is still in there sleeping.

Drop?
# Jul 18 2004 at 10:40 AM Rating: Decent
is it still possible to get this item even after somefools on your server woke the sleeper?
or is this one of those once on a server drops where the mob drops a few of these then despawns and never comes back?

My thoughts on the SOD's use

I've read alot of the below, and see there's alot of disagreement about who should use this, and why. Below is my opinion, from a few perspectives.

On a raid this belongs in the hand of the person you want to mobs to hit, end of discussion. This was not a matter of discussion in my former guild. With the buffs that are used by high level raiding guilds, the increase in Proc frequency simply means that the Monk ends up laying down as much as he is standing (same for the Ranger who has to channel his aggro-reducing spell). This limits thier DPS more than you would think.

If you're XP grouping, in the past, I would have said the same as the above. I think LDON changes my thoughts on this slightly... If you can add enough quick damage so that even if you get aggro you can survive the short period of time the mob is alive (and hitting you), then I am okay with a non-MT using this. I am also kinda assuming if you can obtain this, your other slots are filled with some pretty Hot Sheet.

Other than that, use with caution. I don't know many high-level priests that will die trying to save a non-MT who gains aggro frequently.

If you're soloing, then do whatever makes you happy. Use this, use a sandal, the mob will probably be hitting you regardless, right?

I'd like to hear from any other Zek players about it's PVP use. I know the ratio is great, but from what I've seen, the majority of PVP melee's use slow, hard hitting weapons for drive-by wackings ( AKA 'Jousting'). Does the Proc & speed make up for it it's lesser Damage per hit? I'm guessing they do okay by their rarity in the Rallos Bazaar, but I'd like to hear details if you have them.

So in closing, I'll say this; Good Weapon if your guild can get it for you. If its my money or my friends, I'd say you can better spend your money on rounding out your characters stats/gear.

If you're buying it, I hope you bought the Plat online, because all the time you spent farming up 250K would have better served you by leveling, getting into a POP-raiding guild, and getting one of the Yardcore weapons from the 2+ teirs.

-2/3rds Anti :)

On a raid, rangers and monks shouldn't have to worry about aggro.

On a raid, the MT should be warrior. That warrior should have double hate procs weaps in each hand, and aggro discplines and AAs. They MIGHT have to wait all of 10-15 seconds if they're really worried(let the tank proc a few times), but in a 3-4 minute fight that's not a huge loss.
RE: My thoughts on the SOD's use
# May 07 2004 at 1:08 PM Rating: Default
Warrior doesn't need 2 pure hate proc weapons, but the raid does have to make adjustments if the warrior doesn't. Incite is supposed to be 400 hate, this 288dd+stun is prolly more then that. And even if a 700 hate proc'ing weapon did go off initiall it don't mean you'll still have agro. The person with this weapon could have proc'd twice or three times, heck I've proc'd this specific weapon 6 times almost within a minute. In 3-4 minutes it's possible you wont proc at all which I'm certain has happened on more then a few occations. Remember, 1 persons chance against 30 people isn't good. Why deal with these odds. Wear weapons with damage procs, not dd+stuns. I can't remember but I think with this in main hand and my other 180dd+stun the pure damage off the procs were about 18dps, but if ya wanna do the math using the avg proc rate it would be about 2x288/60=9.6 total dps on procs. Chances are you can get this, you can get a simular ratio weapon (or better) with a proc of about 150 or so. 2x150/60=5, so what if it's lesser, at least you wont be causing problems.

Any weapon that procs a stun is prefered when PvPing a caster type. That the stun comes with a nice DD is gravy. Especialy for classes with no inate stun ability.

SoD 512 DD Proc with igenuity 3
# May 11 2003 at 5:58 AM Rating: Good
It is just awesome when a Warrior gets a critial blast for 512dd... gotta work on my Igenuity 1 = 384 to Igenuity 3, wanna see a Critial Blast for 512...

I have maxed Dex with Sham buff and I can usually get 10 to best record 18 proc off on a single mob. I remember one time in PoV a chanter say WTF who is spamming Anarchy? Haha >;) hehe... forgot to mention I am dual wielding 2 SoDs... Do the math, average 10 proc per fight and 2 crital blasts = over 3k damage. I heard if you get Improve Damage III, with Igenuity 3, it will make your proc goes as high as 600ish...

Indeed after the pop, the melee dps from SoD is no special if your are in an uber guild that able to take downs the big bosses in tier 3 and up. However, they are all no drop, and their proc are usually limited to 100ish. I know Warrior's job is not about dps, but com'on this is a game, and is fun to see yourself doing some nice dps in general exp group. For aggro, it still gives nice aggro 400ish vs BoC = 700ish. It is still not bad.

All in all, I would still say the SoD is still the best toy and dropable weapon in game!

It still worth 245k to 300k on Stromhammer

They will all be dead, and can then be ignored.... because they certainly will NOT be the first ones Rezzed in any raid situation. Or in most groups either. Yea... get that aggro... the tank will need one less heal, and u will die too quickly for the cleric to target u even! so, by all means... be our guest... But I would recommend bringing your own personal Cleric with a clicker to rezz u every time U die.... and umm... how are u ever going to level then??? /boggle.

i have to agree with punk, and as a ranger, i understand how jolt works and it wont keep you alive with a weap like this. i recently got a sap encrusted branch off tunare (14 19, some sta, procs ensnare for those that dont know.) you're fine as long as its procs once every minute or so, but the second it procs twice in a row, you get yourself jacked up. fighting in tier 3 planes you cant even remember what slot you have jolt memmed in (even though it hasnt moved for about 5 months) before you're dead. the 2 snares will generate way more agro than the tank in the group has, so dont say "you should be jolting thruout the fight to keep agro from building up." i died about 6 times in 20 minutes fighting bees in BoT using the branch with one of the top 5 pallies on the server tanking. if you're gonna solo, weaps like this are fine, but in any other situation, you will die.

I mean whats the point in having such a high aggro proc that won't do anything to a high end encounter. Pick up some magic/fire/cold based proc weapons perferably ones that don't have stun on them (even 0 second).

its called Jolt (and/or Jolting Blades) smart ***. any ranger worth his salt (ie, any ranger what gets this item) would be using those spells, would NOT get agro, and would very likely outlive your main tank. and i cant speak for monks directly, but i'm quite positive a good monk knows how to manage his agro so as to not get whacked.

learn about what you speak of first.

LOL after 2 procs back to back you would be chain jolting, which kinda defeats the propose of a ranger, which is DPS not keeping clear of aggro, this weapon like other uber taunt weapons belong in the hands of MEATSHIELDS, they have the HPs and Mitigation to withstand the aggro that weapons like this can dole out. Now, on the other hand, if you are tanking for your group, then fine, this is a very nice weapon to have at you disposal.

100k wouldn't be quite that reasonable since HoH are like 80kish and this has near same ratio better stats and uber proc so i would say about 250k on average on a moderately crowded server
