New Effect
# Apr 20 2004 at 9:22 PM Rating: Decent
With the change from Stamina bar to Endurance bar, the effect on this helm has been changed to Ultravision. Not so great, except that instead of a worn effect, this Ultravision is triggered -- and instant. In other words, a new addition to the insta-click line of defense against debuffing mobs.
Graphic?

Any idea if this helmet has a graphic?
RE: Graphic?
# Oct 26 2003 at 8:56 PM Rating: Default
There is no graphic on this piece, got one of these for my 63 Paladin a couple weeks ago. Clicky is nice, but its a pain to target self and others in combat....it should be a group buff, that would be better.

At the level required to get this... I doubt they'll be argueing as much... it's not like an old school dragon raid, where anybody who gets up to lvl 46 is allowed to join...

Besides, at the way EQ is going, you should be able to buy this item with your credit card in about a year, so start saving!

It could be on Ebayers, since it can be sold, ever hear of a server called Fironia Vie? Many items like this are droppable there.

He may of being refering to firona vie, but my money is more on he meant the game is letting players get awesomer and awesomer equipment each expansion, so in a year they'll be easy dropable equipment just as good as this.

You can all say what class you think needs this crown this most till you turn blue, but everyone seems to skip over the stat that everyone (at this level anyways) cant get enough of.. MAGIC RESIST! Add the other stats and it just gets that much better. Godly for anyone lucky enough to wear it.

***** the MR i want it for the PR, hard to find huge increases of PR resists gear over 20, and dont even begin with all that ssra/VT/PoP crap, our guild is just now hitting NToV hard, and i know if you can do NToV, you can obtain this.

# Jun 22 2001 at 12:36 AM Rating: Default
let's be honest a hybrids wis/int or mana doesn't really matter too much in a raid or in most battles where there is a caster present. Not to say that their spells don't matter but does two extra 100 dmg nukes when ppl are casting nukes in the 1000s? The strength is very nice for any meleer but it is a catch 22 because the meleers should be darn high on their strength already and with delay and haste from other items in the game in this slot it isn't as worth it. As far as int casters....well let's just say this int casters have near 50 int from there hands/range slots alone would be serious overkill for 20 more. This is an ideal item for clerics, druids, and shammies. as far as clerics and druids i don't know 1 druid that doesn't get encumbered after a half hour of fighting especially if it's one of those less choosen paths of an erudite gnome or dark elf. druids never have decent ac items and have even worse for resistance items. druids aren't made to be hit but when you fight summoning creatures it because apparent you definitely will be. and although i really like the monk class quit plugging any 1 or lower weight item as yours its pretty annoying. it's a great item for all classes. but seeing that most meleers don't get a good boost from 20wis/int and 75mana i wouldn't choose to give it to them. If i was a raid leader i figure the guild as a whole would benefit from it going to a cleric first, druid second, shamman third(hp cannabling), enchanter fourth, rogue 5, monk 6, rest of ints, hybrids, then the rest of meleers at the end. But if you ever have a rogue or monk getting this item let me know i want to join your guild because you've obviously gotten enough of these to go around ;-)

This item would rock for a Necro, Resists, Int, HP, Mana, and AC16? Sign me up.

However it is all/all, and there for anyone with the points to spend on it should have a shot at it. Do any upper level guilds use anything but the point system now?

Some high-level guilds use grant systems, some use NBG lotto. Not all guilds who can survive this encounter use DKP.

Deal with it or not... this is an hybird item. now shut your mouth and listen.

1.) if a caster doesnt have 200int by 60... he/she should stop playing

2.) hybirds usually dont have maxed combat/magical stats.. because its hard to raise one without sacrificing the other

3.) warriors wouldnt sacrifice a planar helm for this... 20str isnt worth the ac loss , and unless your a gnome or something, your str will be 200 by now

dont reply because i wont be back to read it, you were owned deal with it.. tks
RE: usage (you're an idiot)
# Aug 26 2001 at 1:02 AM Rating: Default
Hate to say it, but you're the idiot. No hybrid in their right mind would use a 16 AC head piece regardless of how much mana it gave them.
usage (Hybrids)
# Oct 03 2001 at 1:52 PM Rating: Default
Boy, all you flamers always annon, why dont you have some class and at least let us know who you are, lol.

As for hybrids, MOSTLY i can only think of paladins who would wear this. We are quite formitable backup healers when we can get to 200 WIS. True on a real raid we will be going with mostly AC/HP items but 90% of EQ is regular interaction and play 10% raids, this is just an average. Some people only raid, and some people never do. 16 ac isnt really that low of ac, by the time you can kill the mob for this it may be, but still 16 ac is plenty of AC for normal mob fighting.

As for casters/priests They may have maxed out int/wis, but this is 20 of each on one item. The fewer slots you can get your int/wis into, the more secondary stats and resists you can get. I at the moment cant think of another 20 int or 20 wis helm, ther probably is one but i cant recall it atm.

As i said, paladins are the only hybrid i can think of that would use this, because of more heals. Paladins usually dont play healer though being the 2nd best dammage taker.

I would have to say though, if i had one of these i would use it on very few occasions, either KK/CS raids for the STA regen spell, or on a raid short on healers.
RE: usage (Hybrids)
# Oct 07 2001 at 11:47 PM Rating: Default
The heals of Paladins are good. But what about those silly ranger attack buffs that get tossed around (strenght of nature, call of earth)?

I firmly belive this is one of those: who ever wants in on this item send me a tell.
hybrids really get the most use out of it...
# Jun 17 2001 at 10:11 PM Rating: Default
Really Hybrids do get the greatest use out of this. Hybrids will use every stat(well they wouldn't use either int or wis) and the effect. But i would put shamans as next in line for total usefullness. Then all the other casters. Yes helm of the tracker is nice(hehe its the lost link between norrath and luclin...yes they look like crap). As a ranger i would definantly take a HoT over this. But what i stated was the total usefullness......though that would be very cool for trak raids. And that w/ a thex dagger combo for when the plane of decay opens up would be friggin awsome. All in all the greatest stat on this is the resists....by this time str/int/wis for any one really doesn't matter. HPs/mana is next best after resists and the AC is nice. Most of the time this will be awarded based on resist gear. For casters they can swap out some int gear for resistance gear. w/ this an erudite wiz can get 197int w/ 4 items..this, very easy staff of the wheel, stein of maggok, and a bonecaster robe.....you could prob find a 13int robe out there too...to put them at 200int in 4 items.

Great item, but its mainly resist gear(and yes given to an int caster it merly allows them more resist gear as they already have 200int/wis at this point).
Does anyone actually KNOW anything?
# Jun 13 2001 at 2:21 PM Rating: Good
Funny, silly people.
1. It's a game. No, seriously, it is. And it's supposed to be fun, as opposed to causing, like, dissention and high blood pressure.
2. Why don't you stop wasting your time arguing about why YOU should get it instead of EVERYONE else and concentrate on ACTUALLY getting it? Or possibly sharing information about it? That might actually be kind of productive.

I for one was hoping for some *actual* information on the item from people who own it. If anyone out there actually has one of these, I'd be interested to know your class and the good/bad things you've found about this item so far. And maybe some strategies on the dragon, too (for when I grow up), since that isn't happening on the creature page (they're fighting, too). =P

I had this helm on my Iksar SK. I thought it went well with the whole Rile being the ancient leader of the Iksar, and me being one. That is not the point though. This was really something situational for me. If I was raiding, I wore it. On a raid, I was never main tank, as warriors had much more HP's than me. 16 ac isn't too bad, considering Iksar have a higher natural AC than any other race. I found with this I was able to make use of a Noct Blade (yes, even at 60 I used one. Not a MoSS which I feel is a waste of an SK's time but that is a different story) and have the mana to aid in the debuffing just after pulls, as well as have some strength to do some damage, also freeing my ear/rings slots up for resists. When I was just grouping, I didn't wear this helm, because I found higher AC items like my greenmist helm were better for main tank, as I was usually used for in groups scenarios. If I was just wandering around Cabilis, I wore it, cause hey, gotta have some racial pride. =)

I am not going to say this was meant for one class or another. This helm has something for everybody. Remember, AC isn't everything. If you can free up some space, you can get higher AC but lower some other stat with this helm. Easy to make up.

Reasons Casters should be allowed to roll: They fought with you all the way to get it, str means they can carry more gems to cast spalls, higher int/wis means more mana.

Reasons Pure melee sould be allowed to roll: They fought with you all the way to get it,and the str means higher possible damage hits. Resists means they can take a little more abuse and HP is self explanitory, even if it is only one weak hit from the "Uber" mobs.

Reasons Hybrids shoulc be allowed to roll: They fought with you all the way to get it,INT/Wis means more mana for buffs/debuffs. Str means higher damage hits.

Hope this answers your question and let everyone know STFU about an item being for one class or another. Items are made for every class who can use it.

#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 06 2001 at 11:27 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) this is sort of a catch 22 here. i mean the stats are absolutely great for a caster, but the ac and the Ex-fatuige also known as a "zing", is great for melee. i am kind of one sided because i am a melee class, but if you are high enough lvl to get this and are a caster your int/wis should be maxed anyway. so i really dont think this should automatically go to any type of classes. i beleive that it is far for all who need roll on it.

No matter what anyone says THIS WOULD GO TO A CASTER ABOVE ANYONE ELSE. CoF is all/all also, but it always goes to a melee type. This is one of the few high end int/wis items (epics being another). The other stats are great!
Nice Helm =)

I'd love to get my hands on this, with the High int, nice AC and hitpoints, plus the added boost of mana. Resists are nice for those big raids, to bad I lag real bad at them =(. Anyhow, its a grand item and wearing it will always be a pleasure =) I doubt ill ever get one though. hehe

Just curious here; when you say "it went" do you mean it was merited to some extent or the enchanter was the lucky one on a roll? I can't imagine 30 or so folks doing a /random 1 100 as is what some folks who have posted below expect. Was it rolled among all or selected classes?
RE: Hehe...
# Jun 05 2001 at 8:33 PM Rating: Default
I've been on several of the Blades raids and they have all been on an awarded type system from guildleader usually. I don't think I have ever seen a roll on any of there raids as is typical with any high level guildraid I've been on. Just my experience though.

Just to answer your question. I'm sure there may be a guild out there that rolls on things but I see less frustration when rolls are avoided and the item is awarded to the player. I've seen people leave guilds just because they never EVER got anything. (And I do mean never LAF)
RE: Hehe...
# Jun 05 2001 at 9:43 PM Rating: Default
Hehhe, i always get a kick out of people arguing over who should get to "roll" on items like this. Guilds capable of killing things like this award items to people who can and will use it, who needs it most and do they attend a large percentage of raids, it won't help a guild if it's on a toon that rarely plays. Basically these items help guilds get stronger as a whole so generally they get handed out accordingly.

btw, good lord the stats on this are amazing!

Well as a 59 paladin I can tell you I would take this helm anyday over a deepwater helm or even valorium helm, the extra hit points more then make up for a loss in ac over dw and it gives much more mana and resists then a valorium helm. My point is this helm is actually a legit item for everyone to roll on, more for casting classes though in my opinion and and I could care less about monks, they always get tranix crown and they always exclude all but monks and enchanters on that lol. Also, 1.1 stone is pretty heavy for a monk, even with the 24 stone limit for a 60 monk.

The Monkly perspective
# Jun 05 2001 at 5:25 PM Rating: Decent
Howdy folks. After seeing this item, which it obviously rocks for non-warriors/uber hybrids (unless saves are needed) I had to throw in one for the Monks. Now, I'm not gonna fire off a 'this is a Monk item and we should get first crack at it' post. No sir, I'm going to tell you upfront that this item is GREAT for *most* anybody. Casters and melees alike. Particularly for Saves if nothing else. However, given the difficulty for a Monk to get a headpiece with this kind of AC, those saves, a 75 HP boost (yes, we Monks actually do care greatly about the good ol HP shot in the arm) we shouldn't take backseat to casters. This coming from a Monk that lost a roll on a Tranquil Staff to a Mage (yes, I was the only Monk in the group and yes, I was and still am bitter). Is it good for casters? No, it's great for casters. Is it good for Monks? No, it's great for Monks. Is it good for Hybrids? No, I wouldn't say great but it's pretty frickin' good. It'd be great if the AC were higher. So don't cram your Ranger up there in the front of the pack and say 'He gets the most out of it' because given the overall stats, I don't feel he does. I feel that casters and Monks truly stand the *most* to gain but everyone that wanted it or needed it should be permitted to roll. As for the guy that made mention of Bards needing STR to melee, if you've ever watched yourself melee my friend, then you'll understand why I'm laughing hysterically right now. I've nothing against Bards but let's face it, you're no tank and you're no damage dealer. Stick with mana song, charms, mez's, etc.. oh and party buffs. Go with what you're good at it and let's not talk about your mad melee skills. If anything, I'd say "let the Bard roll for the AC/HP/Mana enhancements" but your STR as a Bard is pretty much meaningless, sorry to make that sound like an insult. ) And to prevent flames; Bards everywhere, you know this to be true, I know it to be true, let's not argue senselessly here. Although if you'd like to get sassy about it, shoot me a Tell on the Mithaniel Marr server.

I would like to keep all boards as flame retardant as possible. Or free of retarded flamers, whichever you'd prefer ;)

With this being said, Congratulations to the BoW for clearing VP and good luck to any and all who get to spin the dice on this 'phat lewt'.

The availability of "Helm of the Tracker" put rangers in category 5 in my other post. 16AC is relatively easy for a ranger to beat and the 20wis on this item is a waste on a ranger.

Well, obviously another attempt by Verant to stir up arguements on "who gets the loot" by making it all/all.

My 2cp worth of class priority.

1. Shaman
2. Druid
3. Cleric
4. INT casters
5. everyone else.

I view the INT and WIS stats of this object to be the primary attributes followed by the AC. I looked over other available items to each class and thought Shaman could best utilize the WIS and AC combo followed closely by (ick!) Druids. Druids aren't nearly the "battle caster" that a shaman can be, so I rated their need for the WIS/AC combo second. Clerics I placed third because the low AC is a negative for them and the Halo of Enlightenment is probably a far superior choice of head gear. INT casters I would consider next because that +20INT would allow them to drastically change out other gear while they'd also benefit from all the item's other stats, specifically the hard to obtain AC.

I place other classes in a pool for last either because the have superior head item available to them and/or their class would be wasting attributes of this item(like the rogue suggestion)

I suppose I could be swayed to place INT casters ahead of Clerics, but who among us wants to **** off clerics?

thoughts?

I think this should go to INT casters. as priests can cast that spell by their own, plus I think no tanks will stop for 5 (or more?) secs to recover their sta.
Moreover int casters are usually not that busy than tanks / clr during fights, that casters can help a bit on restoring tanks' sta IMO.
And high INT can make more free slots for resistance/mana item.

As soon as I saw this item, without even reading the posts I knew it would be the same old pointless debate of "Only I should get to roll for this item" and "ACAHSGU EVERYONE SHOULD ROLL!" I've found the posts go into a few distinct categories:
1. I am a melee, I should get this, druids and the like suck, go wear yer "robes"
2. I am a caster, ***** you, I should roll cause I am cool
3. Hush, everyone should roll, I am all nice and just, teens these days, etc
4. My guild would never blahblahblah

who cares dudes? Only melee, only caster, who cares... the time for this debate is in the group when it drops, otherwise you're just spinning your wheels. While entertaining, the real posts about the item are spammed away with "DUDE IF I WERE IN YER GROUP YOU'D NEVER GET IT!"
If you feel the need to let the world know your opinion on who should wear this item that is fine, I just think you are then an extremely silly person.
