Re; the prattling guy. Is he implying that there is a level cap on the Warrens? I've never heard of such a thing...
Anyhow, all this new Runnyeye stuff actually makes it worth going in there. I've always thought that was a messy dungeon (no pun intended) with a high danger/exp ratio and poor loot. The other problem is (was?) that the ramping up of mobs from 1st floor to 2nd floor was ridiculous. Hunting is fine at 15, but you had better be 20s to go 1 floor down. Blackened Iron looks pretty cool when worn, but is heavier with a lower ac than banded.
Ever played Dungeons and Dragons? It's always harder the further into the dungeon you go because there are usually more valuable treasures that need to be guarded at the lower levels. The upper levels are almost always trash mobs designed to deter noobs from thinking they can just stroll in, kill a few things, then stroll out with phat lewtz. It's the higher level characters that are able to make it past them, so higher level mobs are needed to guard those levels. The entire dungeon can't be filled with trash mobs or else it would be too easy.

It had higher ac then the banded armor my Hafling was wearing. At least for the peaces I have. My warrior is still wearing his supple cloak and arm plates. :)
He mentions a level cap on the Warrens because there is one. Sort of. It's also known as the "trivial combat" code. It was implemented in the warrens as an experiment. The intent is to allow those people who are of appropriate level for the zone to get the benefit of the zone rather than having level 50+ farmers come in and take all the decent items all the time. Of course this has also made it very difficult to find some of the nicer items dropped in the Warrens for sale anywhere.
On my server, the Warrens is a bit underused. Too many people misunderstand the trivial combat code and think that because they are level 25 they can't get the good loots there. When I went through there at level I was still getting xp from the mobs who drop the good stuff, some were even still yellow. And the bronze weapons and armor drops aren't affected by the triv combat code anyway, just magic items and top notch drops.
I'm now level 29, and still intend to go back to the Warrens and check out some of the drops that I wasn't able to solo earlier.
There is a level cap on the Warrens. If you are high enough level that everything is green to you, they don't drop what they are supposed to. You can still go in there and kill all you want when they are green, but you can't pharm equipment from the Warrens. It's to try to keep the zone from just becoming another low-mid level dungeon filled with high level characters, and no one who can get exp.

BTW- supple black cloak is not new. I got one about a year ago on TZ server. It dropped off the WL in the regular rotation of old black iron. It was, however, the only one I had ever seen in the many trips with many characters to RE.
Actually, least a few pieces i've noticed a slight bit more AC from this Black Alloy than from bronze. Such as legs, 11 ac BA, 10 bronze.
I think Verant has done a real nice job making RE a worthwhile dungeon to use at mid levels. Wasn't really good before RoK even, but compared to hunting areas in RoK for 20-35 being much better usually...this was needed imo.
Verant said they'll be revamping some other old dungeons. Be interesting to see if they do a nice job as they seemingly have done here.
Note: I haven't entered the new runnyeye, basing this off the items that have been reported coming from there and the generally good response from players that I've seen. Of course, before the 'proper' level of players make this their dungeon, the higher level players will make it their biotch. Fact of life. =)
and if they would have made it like the Warrens it would be nice, good luck actually getting this stuff unless you follow red PC's around and loot it, BAH FARMERS!
I don't normally like to post negative comments about other people's posts...but what the hell is this guy prattling on about? "...where you fight to stay alive each day in reality..." hmmmm I guess Crack is just getting cheaper and cheaper nowadays!
Hmm I think he may have just got fire by his boss for EQing too much hehe but he is right about (things are not always going to go your ways) in life or in this game.
