got one today! Better than a xalgoz and lighter than most other 2 handed swords which is very good for a erudite pally like myself :) one thing they should deffinitly change is the look! its kinda dumb! when you think of a Blackened alloy 2 handed sword you'd think of a large black and shiny blade not the same look as a rusty7 ******* sword ! besides that this is a great wep!

#Anonymous, Posted: May 31 2001 at 4:41 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Hmmm, so now instead of BIBS we get BABS.

Mithy 2H

Umm, it's not a better ratio than a Mith. Factor in the 30 percent (31 according to casters, which I'm pretty sure is correct) permanent haste and it's actually about a 21/28 or so. Back before Kunark and level expansion, my 50 paladin used to wield one.

Very astute, but wrong.

1) The actual ratio on the weapon IS better than a Mith 2 Hander. Haste is not part of the base damage/delay ratio. This may seem like splitting hairs, but if you've got another haste item, it will not reduce the delay on the Mith2Hander and it will reduce the delay on the BABS (because item hastes do not stack).

2) 30% haste does NOT mean a 30% reduction in delay. It means a 30% increase in attack speed. These ARE different things. If you cut a weapon's delay in half (50% reduction) you would attack with it twice as much (100% haste). Thus the actual delay of the Mithril 2 Hander (accounting for haste) is something like 31. This still gives a better ratio than the BABS, so unless you have another haste item, it is the better weapon.

3)The biggest reason you'd want the Mith over the BABS is that the MITH has a base delay of 40 or greater, which means it gets extra damage bonuses above and beyond what any other 2 handed weapon would receive. This means that even if with haste items you get the two to have a similar damage/delay ratio, the Mith will still put out more damage.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 31 2001 at 4:48 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) heheh, first thing, mithril 2h sword haste doesnt stack with any other haste items unless the item's haste is a song or spell that gives an icon, 2nd thing M2h is 30% haste and 3rd 40 delay with 30% haste becomes 30.7692307692307692307692307692308delay if you do the equation the right way
Pretty Nice

Well, I would like to point out that this weapon does have a better ratio than the EXE Axe now, as well as a Mithril 2hander... quite a nice mid level sword here, IMO. I wonder how populated Runnyeye would have been had these items actually been there in the beginning of EQ... hmm.

Then again, at the beginning of EQ, the BIBS was considered a great mid-level weapon for almost anyone. Putting stuff like this into Runnyeye before Kunark came out would have seemed crazy, as the old Runnyeye stuff (BI Crown, BIBS, etc.) was pretty good at the time.

I'm glad they've updated Runnyeye to make it a little more popular now... I just wish it hadn't resulted in the dungeon becoming one big camp-fest, like Sol B and Guk. :)
