Why oh why didn't they change the graphic for this with the Luclin release?? It still looks like a freaking toothpick. Don't you think with a name like BLACKENED ALLOY ******* SWORD it should look like one?
still good

The average price for this weapon on the bristlebane server is around 400pp. And yes I would still pay that much for it!

i absolutlely love this weapon. my lv30 friend uses it and he hits for about 60's-70's with it and i just got one but im lv19. it sucks though because of the damage cap until lv20 but im really close to it so ill go to lake of ill omen till lv20. also i bought this on my dwarf warrior for the ultra low price of 160pp and i need to transfer it to my lv19 sk. would it be safe for a lv6 dwarf warrior to run through friona ve with invis. and sow with an axe of the iron back, gnoll hide lariat and BABS so i could go to swamp of no hope and transfer it to my char there??? if so please post!

The way it works for the spiders on the "River Run" is this, the purpleish looking spiders see invis, the basic black and red ones don't. I found this out with my 35 ranger. I'm not sure about the Froglocs or the Goblins in the area, but best not risk it.

River Run!?
# Apr 06 2002 at 6:22 AM Rating: Decent
More advice: DON'T "run the river!" It's thick with spiders. It is VERY dangerous until you're high enough they don't aggro (40ish). There's a safer route.

Find the building in the FV outpost with a tunnel that goes across the cove...or, just swim across the cove, well out away from the iksar statue. Keeping to seaward, run up the hill to the zone wall. IF you're far enough out toward the sea, there's no spiders at all...yet. Turn right and hug the zone edge till you reach the river mouth.

The zone edge is not 100% spider-free so you still need to be a little cautious. But it's WAY better than the "river run."

BTW the cave mouth you'll pass OVER (you ARE hugging the zone edge right?) leads to Dreadlands.

This is consistant with what I've seen. I've ran from FV to LOIO quite a few times with my 20 (at the time) enchanter and most times the spiders haven't attacked, but a couple times I've been attacked. I'd guess it's because some spider can see through invis and others cannot.

Absolutely NOT. the spider creatures in FV see through invis, as do some of the other mobs. Two hits from the spiders, and your level 6 would be toast. Take your sk to desert of Ro on the boat, and get someone to help you do the switch there.

Do they ? I've never had any problem with Camo myself (lvl20 ranger), don't know about Invis. to Animals though
RE: advice

Yes, some spiders do see through invis, some do not, if I had to guess probably 1/3 or 1/4 see through invis. You just have to con them to see when invis, if they scowl at you, they can see you, if indiff then you are ok, for the moment. Some dogs also see through invis. Even with invis and sow it still may be a better idea to find a different place to do the transfer.

I agree, even for a mid 20s char I would not recommend a run through FV to Swamp of No Hope if at all possible to avoid. I must say that I have done the run from LOIO to the city of FV countless times and have NEVER been seen by mobs while invis. That being said, it may be that the more dangerous mobs are north of there towards SONH. My 2cp...
RE: advice

The river run is always dangerous. Some of the spiders are druids and cast see invis on themselves. Also there is a named spawn in the area that sees invis. That being said, with an invis and a sow it's a low risk run. Just avoid spiders like you would when you arn't invis and you should be fine. If one dose agro keep running and make sure you stay near the river so you can find your corpse. I don't recomend this run to anyone blow level 14 (then again, I don't recomend lake until your level 16). And I don't recomend this run without invis/camo and a sow to anyone below level 50, but I like to play it safe.

Which Mob and What Lvl of Runnyeye do I need to be to get on

Hi I am Playing a Cleric on Fironia Vie and I have a friend who is my pet tank. It is for his sake that I would like to know where in runnyeye and off what mob will I find this good sword?

Thanks Larsenexx on Fironia Vie

Ps What Lvl should I and my tank(warrior) to effectively camp for this sword would be helpfull remember the trivial loot code is in effect so I dont want to go when Mr Mob is Green..hehe thanks

If it does drop of anyone, it is EXTREMELY rare. It is a fairly common drop off of Lord Pickclaw and the Battlelord, thus explaining the high level posted to obtain.

I have heard that all the blackened alloy stuff (except the head item) drop from anything in runnyeye. However, if the swords drop on anything other than the bottom floor, I have not seen it. Only good drop I can think of above the third floor is the sporali defender, and it drops mostly from the moldmaster, although rare on the sporali defenders as well.

Only armor I have seen on the upper level goblins was blackened iron, not alloy.
What is a better upgrade?

I have used this BABS from lvl 18 until 40. It was great for my low stamina being wood elf. I want to move up to bigger and better now though. It just does not keep up with my dual wield damage now.
This sword is GREAT!

I just got this the other night from a guild buddy who had gotten a second one (lore, only one at a time!). I had been using a Deathwatch sword that I had gotten as low as level 5. This sword is so much better that I don't at all begrudge losing the HP bonus of the Deathwatch. And at SEVEN stone less weight, it just makes more sense to go with it. Consistent 56 hp hits at level 21 and I got my first 100+ hp Crit Hit with it. I think I am going to carry it for a GOOD LONG time!

This sword is a VERY nice sword for the drop rate and lvl of MOB. A very compareable sword is the Drakel Icereaver (one slower but reaver has a proc). However a VERY nice side effect of this weapon is it's weight and look. It looks like any old rusty short sword, but is swung 2 handed. In PvP this is a huge suprise for those not expecting to get pounded for 60pts a pop with a rusty short sword :) The downside in PvP is the Lightsource. It is as bright or brighter than a GLS. Happy Hunting.

Got mine from a Druid buddy. Cool thing is being able to pound the crap out of mobs as they limp away from a Ranger and Chanter duo. Every Ranger should have one of these in their possession at one time or another, 2HS is a great skill to keep maxed as you level.

I got one today off of a Destroyer in RE. Before anyone says someone probably planted it (and why would you plant it on a destroyer and not a rat or something), there was a lvl 54 monk running around killing everything so this was a freshly popped Destroyer. Also got a BALS off another destroyer later.

Truly the best weapon I have ever had. At level 11 I slash for 30 points. It is surely one if not the best item for people that are poor and under level 30 I would say.

Ya, its a good weapon, but it looks more like a freakin swiss army knife than a two handed sword. Bah I sold mine, even though I got it as a gift.

I agree about the looks...looks like crap - got one while poking around in Runnyeye the other day and hate the tiny look so much I gave it to some newbie. Too bad, pretty decent stats but guess I'll stick with my Blade of Xalgoz.

some people give items they don't want to bother selling to guards or bats .etc so its very possible that someone gave a BABS to the guard because he didn't want to sell it.
Damagae Bonus?.....
# Oct 10 2001 at 9:36 PM Rating: Decent
Not too sure on this whole new damage bonus stuff. I've been reading alot of the other posts on the new Chardok zone and people seem to believe that the dmg bns isn't just based on delay but on level. But I know that at being a paladin at level 32 this weapon has a dmg bns of 1. Which isn't too great but its still not a bad weapon.

I am a level 33 Shadowknight. I've had the babs since level 20, and I love it. I got 1 point dmg bonus at 29, and it's now at 3. Seems like every other level for me.

That is the level based damage bonus. That is the same for all weapons you can use. However, a 2handed weapon with delay OVER 40 has an additional damage bonus. So if you had this sword, and a drakkel forged ******* sword, the drakkel sword will begin to have a higher damage bonus, due to it's slower delay. I have heard that the greater the delay, the more bonus, but cannot verify as my warior hasn't hit 30 yet.

If this is true, then the supporting melees (not tanking) might want to revisit the old weighted axe.
Best & cheap for the LVL

Whats awsome is that, this is "THE BEST" weapon i've ever had, whats better is that its also the cheapest, but what i don't understand, is why is it so cheap? Exe Axe goes for 400pp+ and earthen blade goes for 700pp+!!!!!This is better by far. Cheap Cheap Cheap. Every lvl 20 tank should have one!!!

This sword is so cheap because it is so common; it practically drops for you. I am actually surprised that Verant has not severely nerfed the frequency with which they drop, considering that they have not held back with nerfing the drop frequency of other popular items.

This sword is the single reason the 2HS market on MT has gone in the crapper. When RE was liberated you had so many people who just wanted to get rid of them, selling them for 100 to 200 just to get something for them so they could go get another. The next thing you know you have a sword that should IMHO be sold for around 800p to 1k with that Damage and Delay that you have trouble getting 400p for because everyone just wanted to get rid of them and make 800 on 4 to 8 of them rather than 1 of them.

These same people then complain later that they cant get crap from or anyone to buy the formerly decent 2HS like LoW, 2H Practice, Drakkael Forged BS, and all the other 20ish delay and mid40 delay weapons. Heck, even really nice 2HS like the Mithril have been affected, going for around 3k before RunnyEye was liberated now I have seen them as low as 500p with average being around 800p to 1k. For a 2HS that is 21dmg 30dly with the haste factored in. Sad.

In my eyes this is a very nice 2hs weapon, but its almost unsellable on Bertoxx. As a 55 druid I am able to track down and kill any mob in Runnyeye with ease. I was getting one for my Warrior alt and got 2 more as I tried to get me a Black Alloy Medal for my Necro. Anyway I had to sell these babies for 150pp and 100pp as noone seems to be using 2hs right now. It might change with the next patches but until then this is really odd. I will use it with my Warrior for sure, think its a nice weapons.

I got one today

Today, I was in the gorge killing evil eyes and ran into Runnyeye to bank. The goblin bartender had one of these for sale. With my amiable faction with the goblins and my charisma gear on, I bought it for 134pp. Now I'm off to Frontier Mountains to work my 2hs before I give the sword to my troll warrior.

This sword is great for lvl 20 somethings that are likely to hunt Runnyeye now. I was with a 51 shaman, I being a 30 druid for safety and very few mobs even conned blue to me. We got the sword and Coif off some kind of warlord, I think, conned white to me only one of night. I was there to see if I could get the blackened alloy medallion no luck. He was there for the sword for his baby SK. That the spawn is random know I believe is an improvement it will keep the farming down. We just got very lucky along with track.

I was fighting in the west commons and a guy just walks up and gives me this sword. He didnt even say anything but np when I thanked him. For a struggling lvl 12 SK (my only char) Its quite a gift.
