how much haste
# Sep 22 2001 at 3:45 PM Rating: Decent
Could anyone tell me how much haste these give? Or delay reduction. Just say which system you're using. I see one person post 5%, then another 11%, but those aren't both right (difference between haste and delay reduction isn't that much).

Hehe I posted above the **** post. He didn't mean me, he means the guy above me. Honest. :)

Hehe WRONG Mr. Wish-We-Were-Smarter.
You don't subtract the haste percentage from the delay, you add it to your speed; there's a big difference.

With a 50% haste item, your delay is not halved to 50%, you don't swing twice as fast. Instead, your speed is increased to 150% of base, so your delay is 2/3 of the original value, and you get 3 swings in the time you'd normally get 2 without haste. It takes 100% haste to double your speed, not 50%.

I know, this makes the arithmetic a little tougher...say 5th grade instead of 3rd grade. So we'll give you a couple years to figure it out.

*quote* I really wish you people were a little smarter *end quote*

Ok, so based on your logic - a person with 100% haste and a 40dmg/60dly weapon = 100% of 60 is 60 - so subtract 60 from 60 and you come up with 0. Wow, a 40dmg/0dly weapon. What an idiot...
RE: Final Explanation
# Sep 23 2001 at 2:00 PM Rating: Good
Your logic is flawed. The haste percentage doesn't reduce the delay by that amount. Rather, it increases the damage over time by that amount by adjusting the delay. Not quite the same thing.

1 / (1/delay * (1 + Haste))

1/50 * 1.10 = 0.22
1/0.22 = 45.45 (which in this case rounds to 45)

However, if the haste was 100% (doing twice as much damage over time), the delay would be 25, *not* 0.
Haste
# Sep 03 2001 at 12:07 AM Rating: Default
Everyone says haste either affects your delay or affects your damage. It means increased damage over time. This can be accomplished by hitting more times, or hitting harder. It doesnt matter, what matters is that you get more damage out of the deal. Leave it at that.
haste
# Aug 28 2001 at 9:37 AM Rating: Default
The simple explaination:

The percent haste means you get faster by that percent. Like you have an internal clock regulated when you swing and how quick combat skills cycle, and if you have, for example, 10% haste, this clock runs 10% faster. This means, that if you have 10% haste, you will swing your weapon 10% more times in a minute.

You would swing your weapon just as fast if the delay on your weapon were Delay / haste + 100%. So 100% haste would make it look like the delay on your weapon were halved.

Moldmaster is a wimp, just have a regen that makes zigg fin's regen in nfp laughable
i mean he can regen fh in about 40 sec,
but he only has around 1khp just nuke em 2 times with 500s and a warrior or melee preventing regen and you will wonder when he died.
killed him alot since i wanted to gloves, got 2 defender blades, ack (pet weapons), one sporestrand shield (twink item), and finally got it after about 6th kill, sometimes he drops nothing which is so like verant,
(Note: Seen a group of 35 get spanked cos they couldnt keep up with his regen)

nuke him 2 times for 500... hmm... Unless you're farming then you won't be nuking for 500... that's great advice though, yah know... telling everyone to just hit it hard and fast... thank you oh so much. Because before this post i would hit slow and light, i'd use orc picks and purposely turn my attack off, yah know, make it fair =).

Basically... no ****, if you actually have a tactic other then "hit lvl 50 then come and get it" don't post things on HOW to kill a mob... cause we already got that part.

ok.. people say that haste DOESN'T affect the delay of a weapon.. haste just makes you swing faster.. doesn't that mean it affected the delay of the weapon?

Delay = how long it takes you to swing again

if a haste item makes you swing faster.. it affects the delay (either that or I'm losing my mind) I mean.. if anyone else is as confused by the "haste doesn't affect your weapon delay" statement as me.. feel free to follow this post up.

# Sep 01 2001 at 12:05 PM Rating: Decent
I think what these people are trying to say is that yes....for purposes of swing frequency haste does in fact affect weapon delay. But for the purposes of Damage Bonus, no the delay is still considered to be the original delay of the weapon.

So a hasted 40 delay weapon wouldn't lose it's damage bonus just because its haste dropped it below 40 delay.
RE: I'm lost... what? Who said that?

TESTIFY!! I read post after post and just feel like my heads going to explode "haste makes you swing faster" "haste makes your damage ratio go up" "haste makes you hit for more damage" and each person saying the previous statements called one another a dumb ace. Uhhhhhh did that make sense
haste %
# Aug 13 2001 at 2:03 PM Rating: Decent
Ok one last quick lesson on haste =). Haste % is actually an increase in damage output. So 100% haste would mean 100% more damage, or twice as much. Since the increase in damage is done by makign you swing faster 100%haste means you have half the original delay thus hitting twice as much and having double the average damage output. The formulas peopel wrote were right (I think) but that is why it works liek it does.

I was going through Runnyeye today and decided to work the dungeon for a while. Just for Info I am a 26thlvl Ranger with good equipment. I saw the Sporali Mold Master on track and went after him with a 35thlvl Warrior as Assistance she pulled figuring that it wouldn't agro the rest of the Mob's down in the area her mistake we had a large number of defenders and a bunch of goblins backing them up with heals and damage shield. She died and I zoned back out to The gorge. Upon which i found a shaman standing there going what the heck was that. He had zoned into the battle and almost got killed he was 30thlvl We proceeded to both med heal and buff then went back in. The only thing left was the Moldmaster everything else had wandered back down. We proceeded to Stomp him to death and he dropped the gloves. I ended up with them and they do definitely increase attack speed not delay of weapons as my kick recycled about 50% faster than it had before. Just wanted to let everyone know they do exist and that the Moldmaster is an undercon Big Time

ok... everytime I read the "how to figure out haste" crap I get more and more confused... but I did grasp it loosly. So for everyone who's still a little confused i'll explain how I figure it out.
Ok as the first guy said, he thought the haste on the gloves was 5% and in essence, it is. And the second guy said it was 11% which in actuality it is. Confused yet?
Ok VI decided that, if you get 100% haste and you attacked nonstop... that'd be a bit imbalancing =). SO! VI decided to make the haste only work on half the weaon delay. IE if you have a weapon with delay of 40 and the haste on your item is 10% then cut the delay in half 40 divided by 2 is 20 and then the haste percent 10% of 20 is 2... and then subtract that number from the delay 40 - 2 = 38. so the new delay is 38 .. tah dah... if i'm wrong. Oh well. If i'm right, yipee. don't flame me too much if i'm super wrong, my poor ego couldn't handle it. =)
RE: the haste
# Aug 16 2001 at 12:32 PM Rating: Decent
You're doing it wrong. The haste percentage isn't a delay reduction exactly.

For instance, FBSS is 21% haste. That will not reduce a 100 delay weapon to 79 delay though. In fact, when the formula is worked out, with FBSS a 100 delay weapon would end up being 83 delay.

Haste Formula:
weapon delay / (1 + [haste value/100])

example 1 (weapon is tranquil staff, haste is fbss)
weapon delay / (1 + [haste value/100])
30 / (1 + [21/100])
30 / 1.21
new delay = 24.79

example 2 (weapon is monk fists w/epic, haste is Golden Sash of Tranquility + Epic bard haste effect)
weapon delay / (1 + [haste value/100] + [haste value/100])
16 / (1+[41/100])+[40/100]
16 / (1.41 + 0.40)
16 / 1.81
new delay = 8.83
(can you say "monk epic kicks ***!"? Imagine a self hasted monk with two 9/16 weapons base, which with the golden sash of tranquility end up being 9/8.83 weapons lol. /drool

haste calc
# Jun 20 2001 at 12:03 PM Rating: Default
Hasted Weapon Delay = ( 1 /(1+ (haste item % + Haste spell%)) ) * Old Weapon Delay.

So at 10 % haste. on a 40 delay weapon. the new delay would be

HWD = (1 / (1 + (.10))) * 40 = 36.36

The max haste you can get is 100% So max haste = 1/1+1 = 1/2 old delay.

At max haste your 40 delay weapon will become a 20 delay weapon.

Verant has put a minimum delay with haste into effect. NO ITEM can have under 10dly no matter what % of haste you have acquired. Hope that clears up some confusion
RE: HASTE %

Actually thats untrue considering there have already been items placed in the game that have had a base delay of under 10....know what im talking about? probably not because the item was taken out of the game later but i highly doubt that we wont be seeing a delay below 10 on a weapon again in the future. the item was a pixie sword or something, not sure the exact name...saw it a LONG time ago. the atk/dly ratio was 2dmg 6dly i believe, not sure if it was lore/magic/no drop, either way the stats are a mute point on this bad boy now.

The elusive Bixie Bladed Short Sword, heh. Was an item for a paladin Plane of Air quest, drop rate was somewhere between one in thousands. One and a half years after implementation one finally drops and it's nerfed instantly. Previously the Moss Covered Twig (3dmg 10dly) was also nerfed.

Verant doesn't seem to like weapons that have a base delay of fewer than 10, let alone the ridiculous 6 delay of the Bixie Bladed Short Sword.

A while back someone had tested the theory of the minimum delay of 10 regardless of haste effects on weapons, he said that the delay *was* able to go below 10. That there was no established ("known") minimum delay.

Personally I've never tested it myself so this is all hearsay.

What we really need is someone with a COF, RBB or EPP(cloak of flames, runed bolstered belt, or eyepatch of plunder all having haste = 36%) wielding something with like 20 delay time how many swings they make in 60 secs when hasted with aclarity(40%) versus forlorn deeds (70%) aclarity would theoretically put the wielder below 10 delay, so if there were no noticeable difference between aclarity swing counts and forlorn deeds swing counts then I would say no, you cannot take a delay of weapon below 10. /shrug but I cannot perform these tests as I only have an FBSS. If any high levels do this test, please email me the results at mangurabok@hotmail.com . I am very interested, thanks.

Well seems to me that IF haste did in fact lower delay on a weapon, take a 33/40 2h sword like tempered velium claidhmore. (sp?)

That a 10% haste would bring the weapon down below 40 thus losing it's damage bonus. So it only makes sense that haste % determines the velocity of the weapon. I.E how fast your weapon moves and how many swings per fight. But haste may "seem" to lower delay but it is actually a percent based on the number of times you will swing. Actual delay is not effected by haste.

On another note, post 50 haste cap increases. A level 60 melee can have around 112% haste cap. Not exactly sure on the actual cap but it is very close to this area.

If haste did effect delay it would make a weapon such as 10/20 weapon with
110% haste = neg delay?
100% haste = 0 delay
50% haste = 10 delay
For a Different weapon to elaborate my point.
damage 50 delay 200 weapon. ( nothing like this exists as far as i know)
100% haste would = 0 delay on a damage 50 weapon.
That would just be to easy. It is the easiest way to understand it in the wrong way though. Haste does not effect delay but it effects how many times you swing making it appear that you're swinging faster.
No the haste cap is not 60%
At level 60 its around 110 in that area. It is not capped at 60% as some people swear it is. Because if it were, then what is the point of having a 74% haste buff added with a 40% haste belt. Haste items wouldn't be needed if you had a 58 or 54 encanter. So this is indeed true. Haste cannot effect delay. And the cap is not 60%.
Just get a good haste buff like anyas quickening or wondrous rapidity. Then take off your haste item and notice how much slower you swing. This alone proves the cap is not 60%.
100% delay of 50 would be 0
Oh but some people say that no weapon can go below 10..
So take a weapon that is 46/60 like the oggok cleaver. 100% haste would make it 10 delay according to that math. Which is wrong.

So to summarize this post. Haste effects the velocity of the weapon, not the delay. Delay is not effected.

Thank you for reading I hope this clears up some of your confusion.

Actually the haste calc is an equation a little more complex than that. Basically your haste modifier is 100/(100+haste%). Using this a 100% haste would "effectively" give a 20 delay weapon a delay of 10. Also, a special attack like Eagle Stike would recycle every 4 seconds instead of 8.

As for the cap I have never had a big enough haste to hit it but I'm only a lvl 23 monk so that fact doesn't bother me so much.

Ok, was camping this with various other people on Bristlebane the last couple of days (Shayp and Izarya I believe) and between all of us we have not got a pair of gloves. Personally have killed him so many times that I'm KOS to greenie sporalli's, so like 8-12 times I'm guessing. So far the drops are usually a sporalli sword or spore shield, also got a jacinth off him, but still no gloves. Anyone know if they were removed from the game or just made so rare that you could do the Aegis of Life quest TWICE (sarcasm) before getting a pair? Anyways, someone who isn't making crap up please post, got a pair on vazaelle, want a pair on Bristlebane.

As from the first post, I was one of the first people in the zone when the change occurred and essentially brought a couple guildies there to check out all the new additions. When it was first found out that there was a haste item everyone went mad and camped the hell out of the moldmaster 24/7 and you were KS'ed by 50+ lvl people constantly. Within the next couple of days verant had an "emergency" patch which changed Runny Eye once again. I believe what happened was a change in drop rates to, in turn, lower the farming rate on the moldmaster. As far as i can conclude the item still drops but it is "uber" rare if you will. on a second note, my character is lvl 39 that i was using there. I attempted to attack the moldmaster the other day, who cons low green to me, was close to oom at first so i proceeded to med to 50mana. I have great items for my level considering im untwinked....full crustacean, nathsar greatsword/blade of xalgoz, sentient helm, 2 cougar claw earrings, and 2 fire emerald velium rings as well as some other notable items. I opened up my attack on the moldmaster with my Heart Flutter spell (100+dmg DoT, 17 point AC debuff, SvD debuff) then hit him with engulfind darkness (snare/DoT) and then with Heat blood (200+dmg DoT) all of which can be stacked. heart flutter is disease based, engulfing is magic based and heat blood is fire based. i then had about 30-35% mana left and was in a melee with him while he hit me for doubles of 40 here and there while casting spells which hit me from 100-200 points of damage and his cast time was very quick. of course i was using my 45point lifetap which was doing significant damage by itself along with what i was doing melee and what damage my triple DoT's were doing....he killed me before i did 25% damage to him, anyone know if my character is just a pansy or....did i meet the super moldmaster?

My opinion is that they were a hoax to begin with, or they were removed. I've camped him for 13 spawns since the day after the zone was revamped. For me, he spawned exactly 2 hours apart. Haven't visited him recently, however. Was hoping that someone actually received these gloves lately, but I guess not =/.

So we left, Later I came back and was there 1.5 hours and he spawned on the platform. Only droped a sword. 5 min after he died he spawned again but not on the platform at all, he spawned someplace on the top flor it seems, because after a mad rush to find him that is were I cought him. Again only another sword. There is no 2 hour timer it seems and he has at least two spawn points.
