This guy's regen isn't so much the issue as the fact that he's a druid so he's got a DS and he loads you down with high end poison and disease DOTs. Don't forget also that everything but the defenders is a WIS caster, so he's probobly getting healed as well.

Fought him 8 times since he came out with those gloves - never dropped the gloves, dropped the blade once and the shield once - that was it.

He's a tough fight and this is one of those dungeons where even the greens jump into the fight - and god forbid someone causes one or more of those sporlings to pop.
Do the gloves still drop?
# Jul 22 2002 at 8:12 PM Rating: Decent
I was like lv 31 when I first encountered this guy
I saw him on track and went for some help. there was a Druid in the Gorge and I let him know he was up and we went in and killed him. He dropped the gloves at the time I did not know much about the gloves and did not put up a big stint about not rolling for them =( Well now i am lv 51 and have killed him about 10 more times and have not seen the Gloves again.

Do they still drop?
Do they really have a haste of 50%?

well I have only seen the gloves once and i did not get them would like to see them again.
if they are 50% haste I think the value is low at 2k should be more like 10k imho

This guy sucks only because of his regen. As a 40 warrior I could not do enough damage to counteract his regen. He life didnt really even go down, so I had SOW and ran out. I have heard his regen is 50 per tick. He is on a two hour spawn time and he has a place holder. So after two hours of waiting he might not even spawn. The place holder is just another sporali creature, most times it seems like its the sporali defender. When you finially do kill this guy dont get your hopes up. A friend and I have killed the mold master 80 times plus and we have never seen the gloves. But of course I had another friend who killed him one time for fun as he was passing through and got the gloves, so its just random.

Good luck.
pretty easy

Not sure how anyone 45+ gets killed by this guy. Yeah the regen is a pain and all, but I'm a ranger, you know "ranger down" and all that and I soloed him at 45. I'm not a twink by any means (1st character) and probably have mid to low grade stuff. Maybe I was lucky, and lucky all the other 6 times I killed him before 50. Basically all I'm saying is its not impossible, just be careful.

As of June 2,2002 I have camped the Moldmaster for 4 days I have had 3 spawns.... He can spawn in the room surounded by water or the room with the cart and the glowing spore pod. Drops: 1 Sporali Defenders Blade, 1 Ruby Crown (Fodder), 1 Sporali Strand Shield.
I am a 51 Warrior and he drops quick but when you hit him any Sporali near you jumps in even if they are in a different room.
crazy regen!

My first time against this guy was with a lvl 37 warrior-he died horribly. So I went back with my lvl 49 druid, hehe ended up gating out. Now at this point I was really mad. Went back with my druid, buffed up (skin buff, magic resist, regen, thorncoat and a ds). OK, at this point I realized that he must have some insane regen for his life to regen that quick. So, at that Very start of fight, I used drifting death dot to pull him with. Yes, to pull him with. Now that he was dotted, it kinda nullifies in a way his regen. The dot takes away life just about as fast as he regens it. Then I just started nuking with starfire. Yeah he was beating on me and I got a few interrupts, but enough 'you regain your concentration' casting went through.
hehe then I had to gate cause his little sporlings and about 5 other sporalis were beginning to take their toll.
My Experience
# May 29 2002 at 12:19 PM Rating: Decent
Well, here is my experience facing him many times.
1.the Master is a DRUID , yes he can Sow himself , Hell like regen(believe this , sometimes he will escape when he low on HP , after Few Seconds, he will come back to you with FULL HP). He will do some Fire based spells and DOT / Roots / Snares. After he die , his sons will pop on his corpse , about 4 to 6 small Sporalis. Be aware on this guy. Only one stragic: Root him after he fall to 1/4 HP , or you will in pain.

Gloves were ultra rare , mostly drops Sporali Defender ( 17/37 1hs SK PAL) or Shield ( 5ac 2int 2wis 25mana ) , or nothing totally if bad luck.

I seen this guy come up on track, so I decided to go see who he was. I run in the room and he attacks me. I had about 20m so I nuke him a few times then use my ES arms and Warden Symbol of Tunare to slowly kill him, but it didn't seem to do as much damage as it should have against a green con. He has to have some kind of regen. A bunch of other things in the room started to agro on me and I ended up having to gate. Was level 48 at the time. lol running from a swarm of greenies. *sigh*

gettin the gloves
# May 25 2002 at 10:18 PM Rating: Decent
few questions
1) could a lvl 30 war, mostly crusty armor, centi ss, sword of skyfire solo him?
2) if not, could i do it with the help of a lvl 42 warrior?
3) is it worth it?
4) who drops it?
5) what does he hit for?
thanks
RE: gettin the gloves
# May 28 2002 at 6:38 PM Rating: Decent
1) no you could not solo him
2)with the 42 prolly. just keep him outta rooms where he regens
3)not sure haste is not that geat on these I believe
4)Sporoli moldmaster.
5) he hits hard, fast and casts. Ive seen a lvl 35 druid and a 32 monk go down against him.
#REDACTED, Posted: May 29 2002 at 7:40 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) my 54 bard went down against this guy..he has mad regen and nukes..hits hard and furious and when ya health gets low enough all his buddy jump in...took him out on second try...just have to be carefull..best place to pull and fight him is in the pool room with waterfall
Be Prepared
# May 15 2002 at 7:12 AM Rating: Default
I decided I had to have these gloves. I am a 42 Ranger and as earlier post mention its hard to get FBSS or CoF at this level. I have been in Runnyeye a few times and figured these would be easy to get. What luck I zone in headed straight for Moldmaster room and there he was. I wasn't expecting him to be just standing there, but he conned green so wasn't worried when he started casting on me right away. Snare, DoT, move in to melee. This guys was hitting hard and fast (way to hard for a green con.) Plus he was casting in between. He had me wore down relatively quickly and actually managed to kill me. He had hardly any life left when I died so it was a terrible disappointment. When I got back for CR (was still bound in Thurgadin cause I never expected to die in a zone full of greens) he was gone. Had I been more prepared to see him right away I probably could have taken him, but I just wanted to let everyone know that he is way underconned. I am not a wimp, I have decent gear and he still managed to beat me. Like I said had I been prepared he prolly wouldn't have been a problem. I am getting really tired of how bad the undercons are in the game though.

You can track, get a Swiftclaw sash from Stonebrunt, much easier than hoping this guy will drop the gloves. Besides the swiftclaw is 15% haste, these are only 9%. its a much better investment of time trying in SB, and you can kill other mobs for XP while you wait.

RE: Be Prepared
# Jun 24 2002 at 9:08 PM Rating: Default
LOL!! You know how hard it is to get the damned swiftclaw sash?! With my 40 ranger, I spent 3 days in Stonebrunt, finally got the heads, turned them in, got no sash, got the lame headband...even tried turning it back into the NPC, since it was worthless anyway, but no sash. 18 hours wasted trying for one turn in...

Granted, you could almost spend the same time camping the moldmaster and he never drop the gloves, but overall, I'd say these gloves are a better bet than the sash quest.

Yes, you could likely handle the Sporali Mold Master by yourself, as long as you can stop him from running into a room where he has a massive regen happening. If he makes it to that room a level 60 wizzy would have a challange to nuke him.

# Apr 09 2002 at 10:04 AM Rating: Default
if i get these gloves...and play haste song...mmmmmmm ness.... Does these gloveses stack with lvl 36 haste song?
RE: mmmmm stacking ness
# May 11 2002 at 10:13 AM Rating: Good
Yes they would stack. Rule for stacking is

1 item (highest if you wear multiple)
+
1 spell or song (highest haste)
+
1 bard song of vah shir or ervaj line

Spells and songs do not stack the haste portion. If you see bard haste and enc/sham haste in your buff window it's because bard songs usually give additional boni, like str/agi increase.

Ervaj line adds a minor percentage (5%/10%) up to the haste cap. Vah shir line adds some undefined percentage with the potential to get you over the haste cap.

lvl 20 my butt
# Feb 05 2002 at 12:05 AM Rating: Default
man if i didn't like complaining so much about missinformation i might just send in a correctoin to allakhazam about how wrong it is to say that a lvl 20 could get these gloves. first off the moldmaster which is the mob that drops these, is lvl 30 himself, and he has some fairly self ritious buffs that make him a reall pain, and if you happen to be unlucky enough to get some defenders on you call yourself toast cause you are now cooked. But suppose you put a full group of people in their low 20's up against him and yeah your gonna take him down, but how often do you even see more than 2 people in the zone at once? Not to mention a full group. (raids excluded, though i don't quite know what guild would wan't to raid runyeye, though there are lots of nifty gear for people in their teens.)

now here is my personal challenge to all you flamers out there, bring on your worst, if you want to flame me make it a doosy, not some little po-dunk messege that points out how bad a grammer i have.

and if you want have a face to face chat with me some time i welcome you down to the nameless, i am the half naked tweaked ogre named oogieboog.

i look forward to your creativity with great anticipation.

As for what guild would raid Runnyeye, mine has a couple of times. We just gather some high teens-low 20s alts, go in & have some fun killing things. I do believe it's how the game used to be enjoyed before everyone had lvl 1 toons twinked with lvl 55 gear.

LOL Face to face chat....in game? So, a avatar to avatar talk, you mean. I love you big tough guys. So scary. So AGGRESIVE. Didn't mommy and daddy love you enough? Is that why you have such a huge chip on your shoulder? Or maybe...they loved you a little TOO much, if you catch my drift, sparky. I bet you STILL can't sit down =)

Take a pill, remember that it's just a game. And what the foul flarn filth is a "Po-Dunk"? You crack head hillbilly-wanna-be-gangstas making up words again?

From other posts I've scanned, and from countless hours of equipment hunting on Alla's, I think the level requirements listed are for a full group, not individuals.

No flames forthcoming. =) I too had wondered about that fishy level number.

Anonymous (the one above Rhyoss), please do your best to be quiet and know about the subject you're trying to talk about before correcting someone. Haste does NOT reduce the delay of a weapon... that's an assumption that's been plaguing the EQ mindset for years now. It increases the number of attacks you get in a given amount of time... which would *seem* like the same thing as delay reduction, but it isn't.

As for the Sporali Gloves... if I was some low-mid level individual and/or didn't have the money to twink an alt with an FBSS/SCH or better, these would be just fine. An effectively 10% increase in damage dealt is better than none, even at the sacrifice of some AC in your Hands slot and a couple *very* minor resist reductions. By the time resists even matter (in the high 40's), you're more than high enough to get into an FBSS camp.
RE: Yup
# Jun 02 2002 at 6:56 AM Rating: Decent
mathmaticly you just said that it does and doesnt reduce ratio, well the truth is... it increases swings over time which also means LOWER DELAY, it is just a diffrent calculation than most people think. it is delay/1 + % of haste so lets take the delay of the BaBs and these gloves (lets say a 10% haste) 39 divided by 1.10 and your new delay is... 36.1

all im saying is you are right that it increases swings over time, but that means you are reducing delay!

Same haste as fbss
# Dec 25 2001 at 3:24 AM Rating: Decent
We were testing these gloves , fbss, and hand wraps. Sporali gloves and fbss have same haste - hand wraps were a bit faster tho. try to kill a spawn that stays the same lvl at every pop then get a stop watch and watch in other view to see ur attack and hits, then scroll back and see in text how many times u hit --- Sporali and Fbss hit the same but gloves have lil ac . Hand Wraps were faster by bout 8- 10 persent and had saves and ac So hand wraps Rock. Fbss andd Sporali were the same tho fbss is lil over rated. I would have to say Gloves are better because of the ac even if its just a small amount. AC = #1 in the game. If you have lots of AC and HP items you will out live the ones who consentrate on wis int or str : ) Happy Hunting *sorry if spelling is bad its 12:30am /yawn. BTW we tried all 3 of these haste items and a haste item forgot name from Seb But the one from Seb was just to good to compare to the other 3 ) /bye
RE: Same haste as fbss
# Jan 05 2002 at 7:04 PM Rating: Decent
Why dont you just log a fight (with your misses not filtered out), then divide the number of hits you do over a certain amount of time, by that time. Its a bit more accurate than the method you just described.

(Logs have the time against each action)

Also, I wouldnt just directly compare the AC of items that go in different slots, compare it to items that you COULD have in that slot instead. But I accept you point that 0 AC on an FBSS is low :)

/sigh
# Dec 17 2001 at 3:48 PM Rating: Decent
first off, the minimum delay on ANY weapon is 11. or 1.1 seconds. It's coded into everquest. you cannot hit any faster than 11. I've heard roumors of people's delay down to 10, but only possible way is because of a slight bit of lag.
if you want to figure out the haste, make a chatlog.txt while using a certain haste item, then try it again without the haste item. That is the only way to really figure out how much faster you really are. Untill VI spits out a formulat that they say is the formula for haste, forget tryin to figure it out.

Figuring Haste
# Nov 27 2001 at 9:37 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, I understand the formula, but what I would like to know is how everyone figures the % of the haste items? You say these gloves are 11%...do you time your swings and run the formula backwards to figure that, or what? lol
Anyway, I have noticed that haste items DO speed up all your attacks, not just the weapon you are holding. If someone could tell me how the haste items are figured, i would be most pleased))
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 30 2001 at 6:27 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) yes that a good way to see it for me looking at it as percents r easier (i like math tho) but that another wya of saying it

i remember when i first came here at 28 i saw the gloves, looked at the ac and the modifiers and said what the heck who would want this... well i didnt look at the effect DOH!! i think i have sold a couple of these to merchants :-( oh well live and learn i guess
a simple why to look at it....
# Oct 21 2001 at 11:27 AM Rating: Decent
alright guys and gals, you are getting to complicated. look at it like this. if you normally swing your weapon 40 times a minute that is the average 100% you have. if you were to add a extra 10% to that it would mean you swing 44 times. thats 100%plus 10% (110% or 1.1) times 40 equals 44. yes i realize this item is 11% haste but for my simplized purposes that extra 1% just added more trouble than it was worth. the math would have been 111% or 1.11 times 40 equaling 44.4 hits per minute, which as you know would have equalled 44 anyway. /shrug
