J/T Boots
# May 30 2001 at 4:26 AM Rating: Decent
I camped the AC with friends in OOT. The camping was done in two sessions with a healthy sleep in between the two. Total time camping the AC was 27 hours, which resulted in 4 Ring of Ancients being dropped, two per camping session.

J and T boots are identical in most ways. The differences are:

1) J.Boots cost 325pp, all in gold. While T.Boots cost 5,250 - 7000pp depending on charisma and how well the Gnome in Solusek A likes you.

2) J.Boots is instant casting time, while T.Boots require your character to be stationary for 1.5 seconds. Most of the time, this isn't a big deal.. only if a mob that is chasing you has decided to dispel your speed movement buff to eat you.

3) J.Boots do not have to be equipped in the foot inventory slot to be used. Does anyone know if T.Boots can be placed in a general slot (same place as a bag would go)?

I bought a pair of these beaut boots as soon as the patch made them available.

They can be carried and used in an inventory slot just like jboots. Everything is also the same, graphics effects, speed as you have mentioned etc, except for time delay.

I have jboots now, and all that i can think of which gives jboots the 'must have' edge over tboots is when I have been quad kiting, and been doing it for so long that the spell disappears. But even that can be avoided since all you have to do is recast it in the middle of the kite (making sure you far enough away first ofcourse) just like you would with a Snare or Bonds of Force.

how did you figure out that tboots were 35% and jboots 33%?
#Anonymous, Posted: May 30 2001 at 3:24 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) you full of u know what anyone that would pay for these instead of jboot at 350p cost r stupid fools.besides the fact that jboot u cast cast while running to save your *** and no stop cast get hit interupted and die camp the jboot and be a man not a whimp that bys items
RE: Faster then Jboots
# May 30 2001 at 3:38 AM Rating: Good
Now, If Some one camped AC at OOT two times... say 12hours and 32 hour sessions and never saw the AC to kill and loot the ring... Would he be a whimp if he considered buying these? Besides these make the sobs that camp the AC at SRO for multiquesting it to someone else for money loose some business, which is a good thing in my mind.

Nah, I'm still goin to camp the Jbooties. Maybe I'll buy some for my lev 10 necro.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 30 2001 at 12:28 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I like these, much easier to get, I think the casting time is worth it just recast it every so often and your fine
RE: these are good

thanks. are you perchance envious in some way? Forgot about them poor shamans, too ! Now bugger off and be a nice bottomfeeder.......

Lets be honest, instead of spending about 5 to 7k in plat for these or alternatively doing the AC quest, I would rather spend the time hunting the AC and get me the J-boots and invest 5k upwards into some item that is really hard to get.......... just my 2 cents.
Ok.. the Lowdown

These are Storebought J BOOTS. They have a cast effect of 1.5 seconds, so you have to stop to use them.. They are QUIET. Unlike JBoots, they sound like your casting a heal spell, so it's much quieter on the ears.

As for the speed, the effect is 35% running speed, but unlike the last post stating that Sow is between 30% and 50%, I can give a little bit more accuracy... These things are still slower than SoW being cast from a level 9 shaman... Thats when they first get it, so its when anyone in the entire game first gets it, and thats when SoW is slowest.

I'm not sure about the other speed spells there, but they sound pretty accurate... He left out Spirit of Scale though. I have yet to have it cast on me, so I can't say myself.

They are heavy, but they are the same as jboots weight.

As I said, they are storebought, so killing a merchant will get you no XP, or loot, so you will have to fork over the cash. They cost 5250 plat at the very minimum, same as a tink bag.

Personally I will ALWAYS take the T bag if given the option between the two, since Jboots and Tboots are worthless to my eyes. These are the words of a level 51 Human monk.

These sound the same as J boots, they have the screaming mace/haste proc noise.
Speed
# May 29 2001 at 9:49 PM Rating: Decent
Just in case anyone was wondering: Journeyman Boots and Traveler's Boots both increase running speed by 35%. Spirit of Wolf increases run speed somewhere between 30% and 55%. Selo's Accelerendo increases move speed by up to 65% (without an instrument). Scale of Wolf increases running speed by up to 70%, and Spirit of the Cheetah increases speed by up to 115%.

No, they cannot be cast indoors.
Ass expensive but good
# May 29 2001 at 5:41 PM Rating: Decent
these have been in the game quite a while now and wont affect sow. Besides these are *** expensive, and they are still slower than sow at your level (think they are as fast *maybe* as a 14 druid or 9 shaman). These are great because its so damned hard to get the AC as a melee when competing with what seems like every damned int caster in the blasted game *mumbles about people pharming for twinks* ah well, thats life.

I just laugh when I see people auction to buy these. Funny stuff. Like VI's going to put tradable equip in the game that has unlimited charges of a movement increase spell. HA

Hmm...I dunno how to feel about this. Me being an alchemist and all, I don't know if these will only be for the wealthy or just downright stop sow potion production. Not sure why it took so long to get them posted though.. Heh, hopefully with their release I will stop getting so many tells for me to run to Halas and make sow potions :/

Well nice of you to think of your brother Shaman Glyphwolf, shows you as a useless shaman in my eyes (brothers should stick together, and you could go to Fv instead to get the herbs). As for the potions, they're faster then these for anyone 12th lvl or over; SoW gives an increase of 30 plus 1 every 2 lvls; so at 12th lvl 36% increase. At 60th lvl it's 60%, Scale goes at 40 plus 1 every 2lvls, but you cant cast or attack (and it maxes out at 65% Movement)- as SoC is the most useless spell I have ever seen (5min recast time on a spell that lasts 18secs??) I wont even waste the time to look it up.
The end result is SoW Potions are faster then Jboot or these, and when things tend to out run sow they'll chew you up and spit you out if you use these; well at least I'll get away while they stop to kick your ***, thanks!

Dont pay too much
# May 29 2001 at 4:59 PM Rating: Decent
Hey I went inside with 5200pp thinking i'd have it covered with my monk. Haha, if your faction stinks, kill more fire gobs, as a human monk, my cha is not great, but not that of my DE Cleric (52) haha. Anyways, vender wanted 6200pp for them, same cost as the tinker bag. Had to run back to freeport to get more pp. on way back, found a 50 shammy to hit me with cha. It saved me 1000pp. So if you gunna get them, get a shammy buff and a crude stien. as for the cast time, it seems faster than 1.5sec, only will fail if you move at all. So, for you wanting that jboot immediate sow, forget about it. And yes they make me fat at 2.5 lbs, i keep them in my tinkers bag haha long live twinkies
RE: Dont pay too much
# May 30 2001 at 5:38 AM Rating: Default
haw! You might be dealing with a particularly clueless twink monk when they don't know that they can automatically get indifferent faction with a merchant. Grab about 30 points of Charisma gear and you've got your minimum price.

fire gobs dont give you better faction with the merchant, you gotta kill Kobs in solb for better faction
