I got the boots last night. Killed 12 Kobolds in Sol b with a 46 Half Elf Warrior, then went into Sol a. Conned Indefferent. My base charm is 80 and they were 6240, my gear gets my charm to 88 and I bought them for 5821. The effect is alot like sow, and I was able to cast them in the middle of every fight I've been in. The cast time is very fast and being that my warrior always seems to be OOM, these boots are great for me.
Good Hunting,

um any one who wants to get from point A to point B as fast as possible. Wizards are the master of TP no doubt. Bards have the fastest movement song/spell. But Druids have both and that makes em the master of Travel. A solo ( no help) druid beats a wiz or bard in the above race.

These boots arent just for quickening travel time.
Recently I started a rogue and these would be great for when I am in trouble and need to run.

These are great for travel and great for emergency's when you need sow fast. (fast means not having to wait for a druid bard ranger or shaman to sow you)

They remind me of the spirit of cheetah spell my druid got at lvl 24 (70% speed increase .5 cast time) Cast time is not as quick , but it is pretty quick, and although its not as fast, it can still get you out of sticky situations.

bad place to sell em
# Jun 10 2001 at 12:53 AM Rating: Default
The bad thing bout putting em on this particular merchant is, if you already had low faction, like not enough to get the merchant to sell to you. You cant get these boots, couse the only way to get faction up is to kill in sol b, and since my solb faction is at minimum, i cant get the faction, therefor im screwed. I would think verrant would make some kind of faction quest for the sol a miners. Guess not :/
RE: bad place to sell em
# Dec 21 2001 at 6:27 PM Rating: Decent
It doesn't matter how low your solb faction is, even if killing the kobolds give a solb faction can't get lower, the faction that this merchent is on will still raise, so anyone would be able to get these boots, if they wanted to spend the 5.5k-7.5k on them and a whole lotta time in solb
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 16 2001 at 4:23 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) heres an idea just zone into sol b and stand at the zone take a pot shot on the mobs being killed at the zone if you realy want the boots it isnt that hard because ppl are always killing mobs at the zone

#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 16 2001 at 4:28 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) sow is nice and there are plenty of ppl who you can get it from but...... what about when a mob is chasing you and your in the middle of the zone just as sow decides "hey i think ill follow murphy's law" it sure is nice to have T boots or J boots for the quick speed boost youll need to save your butt . im sure mr HG isnt going to catch up to you and say" ohh your sow faded ? well thats ok you send mr druid a tell for a sow and we will pick this up later"

#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 03 2001 at 3:10 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) LOL, dang it does say no-drop, how did yall buy this?
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 04 2001 at 12:30 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Nectar of Isolation is also a nodrop item that can be bought on a vendor, the vendor for that is in the southern area of Timorous Deep if you want to check it out. Look for a big stone wall about halfway along the east side is a hole you can swim thru, I would recommend doing a ooc to see if a Faydedar raid is in progress as he spawns in the same area as the vendor. As for the boots they are off of a gnomish vendor in Sol A, no idea of the name, same guy aslo sells a 100% wt reduction pack with 10 slots (name of that escapes me at the moment tinker pack or some crap). Odd thing to, nectar of isolation is lore no drop, but you can buy a stack of 20 <grin> go figure.
question
# Jun 03 2001 at 2:51 AM Rating: Default
Umm maybe Im missing something here..some of you folks say you bought them? Is the image incorrect..it says no drop. Just where would one buy the boots? Im only curious because if they can be bought though vendors Ive never seen no drop items from them before. If anyone knows or wants to reply please do so. Thanks

It is very simple. Merchants can sell you no drop items because they arent players.. There are several no drop items that you can buy from a merchant, for instance the stein in foold gold in rivervale, or the gem off norissa sparke in west commons used for rogue burning rapier quest(used in epic if you are forced to do side quest)

Sometimes they arent obvious but there are alot of no drop items you can buy from merchants.

No drop is really only to prevent you from selling it to players. (of course merchants wont buy the no drop items either, but its to prevent from the items being sold to the merchants from being sold back to players)

No drop items on merhants were placed there intentionaly.

#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 03 2001 at 4:39 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) yeah, you buy em. believe me. in sol a from tinkers bag guy
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 04 2001 at 4:11 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ok great thanks guys. I had no idea that a no drop items could be purchased from vendors. Funny Ive never seen them before and Ive been to almost every place so far except the real high lvl areas..hehe Ive even been to sol a too..never seen the little vendor, I did see the goblin vendor though, and of course he has nothing do with the likes of me. Cant say that I blame him for it.

I quested for the JBoots with my warrior, when I finally got them I was nearly insane from all the time in SRO waiting for the AC =). I would definitely buy these boots for future char's and save lots of time and heartache. JBoots are better but only cause you can cast on the run and cheaper if you don't mind hours of camping the AC in SRO.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 06 2001 at 2:20 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) ok uy here the 50 on these boot they cant be casted on the run and ther not as fast
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 02 2001 at 10:29 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) hey genius..these have 1.5second cast time..well under the limit to cast between swings and they are 100% proven to be the same speed as jboots. lol get your facts straight..if the guy ran faster with jboots his agi was faster not the boots
I bought my pair
# Jun 02 2001 at 2:42 PM Rating: Excellent
for 5300pp.

It was worth it to me. I never thought I could get the money in a reasonable amount of time but I did.

I went to Crystal Caverns and leveled there. While fighting I collected good loot (CCS, CR, Herbalist Pacs, inumerable Frozen 2HS, etc) and collected the money in about two weeks.

Made about 3 levels and collected the cash at the same time. The reason I did it this way was because I would NEVER have the time to do any AC camping.

To those who do, good for you!

For those of us who don't, this is an AWESOME alternative.

I thought about the SoW potion option but decided buying and storing them was just a hassle. Now I can keep free storage space and have T Boot speed whenever I like. I'll NEVER have to worry about it again.

To me it was well worth the cost (and the hassle of getting to the little bugger.)
Where they work
# Jun 02 2001 at 1:00 PM Rating: Excellent
They work in ANY "outdoors" zone... and like SoW, you can cast it then zone into an "indoors" zone and the effect lasts for a good amount of time.

Also, like Jboots, they dont have to be worn to be clicked on... just put them in a top inventory slot and then make a hotkey to them.... right click or hit the number of the hotkey and they cast the effect

I currently wear EBoots and have a hotkey for my TBoots
The Truth about TBoots
# Jun 02 2001 at 12:54 PM Rating: Default
I have a pair of these and they are GREAT!

Yes, I paid 5300pp for them but:

1) I dont have to buy any more SoW potions (dont have to carry the cash for them or find a shaman selling them), AND they are a LITTLE slower than SoW, you would lose a footrace with someone with SoW on (_BUT_, and this is the key to this item, ANY creature you can outrun with SoW, you can outrun with TBoots... they arent THAT much slower than SoW

2) The casting time on them is pretty fast, if you click them before combat then you are as safe as you would be with JBoots

3) The spell doesnt drop when you are hit (that was a vicious rumor running around on my server)

4) They have already saved my life more times than I care to count

Those people that say they are crap are crazy...

If you have the time and inclinationto camp for the REAL JBoots, that is fine... they ARE better...

But I have to say, these are an EXCELLENT alternative.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 02 2001 at 8:41 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i dunno...might be worth it to have for travelling
#REDACTED, Posted: May 31 2001 at 5:14 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) These boots are terrible. They have a 1.5 second casting time and if you are dispelled on the run, start calling for a cleric(unles you are a cleric yourself of course) If you want SoW on tap bad enough to spend 5-7k on boots like this, your better off getting potions. And if you want that emergency SoW in boot form, run the Tiny Skeleton quest in NK and get some Watchman Boots. Only 1 charge, but it can be a life saver.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 02 2001 at 10:34 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) haha hey do you own these? Do you even have the cash to buy them? You ever try to camp the AC solo? I didnt think so so shut the **** up.
What effect do these give
# Jun 01 2001 at 12:22 PM Rating: Default
Excuse me for the dumb question but is triggering these boots like having sow(other than the speed) where the effect lasts awile or is it like a burst of speed for a short period of time?
#Anonymous, Posted: May 31 2001 at 3:27 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Do these boots work in Kunark and Velious?
Faction
# May 30 2001 at 10:36 AM Rating: Excellent
I am a gnome necro, and the merchant that sells these is a gnome. He is on the solusek mining company faction, and also has king akanon, akanon merchants, gemchoppers (gnome warrior guild), and miners guild 628 (dwarf rogue guild). These factions can be raised by killing minos in steamfront, doing a newbie quest of turning in scrap metal to the gnome outside the akanon necro guild, and raise the rogue 628 guild by killing peg leg and his buddies in butcherblock. You can check the overall faction progress by conning a female npc in lesser faydark. She is in the little compound just outside the steamfront zone, in the building on the left(cognogin the robot and a magician with a pet are just outside the building). I assume when she moves up from dubious or worse to at least apprehensive, then the merchant in solb will sell the travelers boots to you. There is one more faction-the solusek mining company-that may have to be raised after all the others are. This will raise by killing kobald predator in solb, or going on over to nagafens lair and killing any kobald in there.

Wow, finally a message masquerading as informational... a HUGE run-on paragraph that could have been summed up nicely in one sentence:

KILL SOL B KOBOLDS.

King Ak'Anon and his crew regard me as an ally. Most Dwarven rogues name their firstborns after me. I'm dubious with Sol Mining, and he won't sell to me. Forget that shaky faction "info" - just go kill kobolds.

Oh, while I'm being snide and unpleasant... the camp time required to get your Sol Mining faction to app from dubious is nearly equal to a Jboot camp. If you're not 35-45ish (and earning xp from SolB), bite thte bullet and go to OOT. At least there's no AC trains.

RE: Faction
# Jun 11 2001 at 3:37 PM Rating: Decent
Wow, finally a message with some worthwhile information in it instead of somme monk's opinion why he doesn't need them, or why a shaman's SoW potions are better. And ya' know what? Not all of us have the time to camp the AC for 12 hour stretches. I don't begrudge the rest of you for the path you decide to take for getting SoW, but what's the point of making others feel stupid when buying these might be their best option?

Anyway, to the above poster, thanks for giving the faction information. I'm a gnome necro in the same boat as you and was looking into ways to raise faction above dubious for the merchant besides killing Kobolds. Your post is very helpful.
Boots and SoW's..
# May 30 2001 at 10:31 AM Rating: Good
First of all, the SoW spell will always be faster then the effect of these boots (TB or JB). Spells have the life cycle and 'get bigger' over the time. Some are capped, some not..

Same is with the potions - you drink it, means that you basically cast the spell. You drink a SoW potion at lvl 10 and then at lvl 20 and you will see the difference.

As a melee person, I don't really see any big chances for me to get JBoots. The play nice stuff may work at times, but even a dang big-time roleplayer turns into a greedy little rat when he/she sees AC spawn in front of them, or someone else. There's no "Dosth thou wish to slay this monstrosity by yourself, sire?" anymore, there will then be the old and plain "sukah! my AC, get lost n00b!" So, all I need now is some additional 6000pp and I am all set. Heh..

And to the person who said below: ""Twink" is such a strong word. I perfer "Well Equiped"." - HEY! These are my words I used long long time ago first time in HHK, when someone asked that from my warrior :-))

# May 30 2001 at 9:14 AM Rating: Default
For those of you that think camping the AC is good for loot and EXP, along with the chance of getting J-Boots may be correct. BUT, try getting the AC camp in OOT on the Inny server, that is WAY over crowded. Good luck! That sucker is camped 7/24. You say, then why not go to one of the other zones the AC spawns in, well, there goes your loot and EXP depending on your level. Plus you have to be the one that does the most damage, cause everyone tries to KS the AC in those zones. So if you ask me, go where you can get some much NICER EXP and loot, and sell the killer loot for plat and buy T-Boots.

My two cents.....
#Anonymous, Posted: May 30 2001 at 9:11 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I'm just wondering where exactally i buy these or the others boots at?
#Anonymous, Posted: May 30 2001 at 8:43 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Well everyone saying they would rather level than camp AC.. I dont' know what in the heck you are doing LOL. I have camped him and helped guild mates camp him quite a bit over the past few months and am always getting exp while I am there. (Along with gems/loot which is nice for me since I am a canter lol) I am too darn poor to afford these boots, or to afford SOW potions as much as I would use them. Tboots are cool though, will take the cash from the people too rich for their own good :p I personally would spend the cash on something worthwhile and camp the AC and get exp in the process :)
Faction??

What faction is this guy on and what do you need to kill to raise it. And how do you get the cheaper price? By working up your faction or just getting someone to buff the beegeezus out of your charisma?
sow potions
# May 30 2001 at 6:45 AM Rating: Default
I still prefer to pay 100pp for a 10-charge sow potion, 5200pp would get me 520sows.. that's alot of sows. I think sow potions give a faster sow than the boots anyway. I've gone 58 levels without jboots no need to go out and get them now. Long live sow potions =P

Bought them the other day, becouse I would rather spend 12 hours in making 2 levels than camping AC. The cast time thing is of no matter. I would love jboots just becouse of the status... They make people say wow...

RE: Useful
# Jun 12 2001 at 4:53 PM Rating: Default
jboots have no status, like everyone has them. my main is bard so he doesnt need, but 2 of my alts have them. trust me, i would have MUCH rather bought these for one of them, for my necro it took about 5 minutes to get the ring, for my SK, it took about 30 HOURS. Believe me, paying 5k for 30 hours of running around sro doing nothing is well worth it. In those 30 hours, i could have gone to seb and won a fungi, heh.
