I for one do not think that this item is worthless...As a paladin, this is a nice combo of stats. High AC in the neck slot + wisdom. Not bad at all... If your other stats are where you want them, this is a nice little item to pick up IMHO.

it is worthless if you are not the right diety and even if you were the right diety you could find better

4 wisdom with 8 ac makes it a good cleric neck piece, better than a goblin soul collar or chrysoberyl talisman. It's expensive, but the AC+Wis is well worth it.

Humans get a lot of items i know, but look at the armor high elves of tunare can make and the elven chain mail. Face it, if your human you do have a benifit of getting some good items. Just through away the thought of making any.
Be nice if humans could at least produce an item that other races would WISH to have in their smithing ability. Guess i'm hoping for too much.
