When on earth do you think you can reduce the delay of the windstriker to 18 ??

Lets say you used epic haste .. 40% ... chanter haste 70% .... fleeting quiver 20% ...(not thinking about bards here)

The current haste cap as i understand it is 100% (used to be 85) now, im not sure that the quiver can take you over that, but for a laugh we will assume it will.

So thats 130% haste ...

windstirker ... 60 delay ... so takes 1 minute to shoot ten shots...

Now with 130% haste you will shoot 23 shots in the same time ..60/23 = 2.6 ...

Almost impossible to get to 18 you would need over 200% haste which isnt possible.

As far as im aware the max haste is 100% so the max haste on this bow = 30 .. not 18..

GREED is the backbone structure of EQ who has made it possible for first come first serverd to players. What EQ failed to realize was that most people with greed on their mind always fail to give rare items to the proper class who needs them most which in turn would benefit the party(guild). First players to the goods set the price on every item found. Accept when EQ floods some items into the merchants. Those few items left are carried to the Bazaar and given a HIGH PRICE until those players' wallets are over-flowing with money! Then the basterds have the nerve to kill the price by the time the players(who really need that money) get their characters high enough to obtain such items.
It is really unfare. But such is life and may all who are guilty BURN in HELL for it!
Ulamine
Lacking the funds to do much with these cool items.
P.S. To roleplay a rogue is to sometimes use a bow to shoot a NPC or PC in the back. Rangers don't have all the fun! hehehe

This is to answer some obvious questions brought up in this thread as why it is this should be default to rangers.

Question: Why couldn't it be randomed to everyone present that can use it?

... where to begin ...

Background: First off, as most people know, primal weapons only drop in the Sleepers Tomb. Getting into the Tomb is quite a task in and of itself, and almost exclusively requires the help and teamwork of a large and powerful guild. Given this, most raids on the sleeper's tomb will be conducted by organized guilds who have agendas of their own. Most guilds that are able to hit up Sleepers tomb are there simply to farm priceless/primal weapons. Having everyone in primal/priceless DRAMATICALLY increases the dps of that guild (ie- named mobs drop faster) Primal weapons are not the "end-all" weps int the game. Since luclin, weapons have dropped that put these to shame. Primal weapons, however help guilds and characters to jump into this higher area of the game and succeed.

Why should it not be lotto'd to any other class besides rangers (if any present are lacking): As i'm sure anyone who is level 58+ and in a good guild knows, rangers are the gods of distance DPS. With all the luclin upgrades such as archery mastery and endless quiver, rangers have become the most damaging melee, and arguably most damaging class period, class in the game. "Hunter" (lots of aa) rangers with primal velium OWN dps. the damage ratio and proc on this bow are godly. The stats are perfect, the saves are perfect. This puppy even has extra hp/mana. Having a 60 ranger with a primal bow is a huge asset to a guild. DPS skyrockets and mobs die quickly (especially ones with lower hp but counterbalanced with massive regeneration). With 11dmg arrows and trueshot enabled, a "hunter" ranger with decent dex/str will be shooting around 900-1k PER SHOT >>> and critting for around 1.6-1.8k. Now, with epic/chanter/quiver haste, you are getting one of these shots every 1.5-2 secs ... the disc lasts for 2 mins ... you do the math. it's quite mind-boggling how much "WORTHLESS RANGERS" contribute to a guild. Given this fact, it would be stupid for any guild to deprive one of their rangers of this weapon. Instead of being stingy shmucks, people should realize that giving this weapon to a ranger benefits all .. not just individuals.

Open lotto on this is worse in my opinion than open-lottoing a MQ'able epic piece for $$$ reasons, rather than giving it to the class that lacks it and needs it. It would be along the lines of lottoing the perfect piercer btw all classes instead of rewarding the rog who could use it best and benefit all.

This weapon is awesome. All classes that can use it would be extremely pleased to get it. But understand this >> if it is not allowed to go to the class that can use it best, youre really just hurting yourselves in the long run. The extra dps may mean the difference between failure and victory. (the argument that this could be used simply for pulling is ludicrous >> what a waste of a weapon. there are others that have 200+ range and arent rare as hell)

Primal weapons are much more rare than priceless. The difference btw the 2 is the proc on it and a few extra ac points. Warriors/Rogues etc should be content with priceless and leave the primal bows to the rangers. On the same note, primal piercer should go to rogs first, primal 2handers to Paly's, SK's (maybe warriors).

>Primal to those who can use it best >> Priceless to everyone else till optimum classes have it.

Lots of classes can use it, but there should be no doubt as to why "rangers should get first dibs" on this particular item. It is what we are made for. Many "hunter" rangers i know have long since given up swinging weapons. Even without disc they do comparable dmg to 60 rogs with primal. it makes me iritable when i see warriors/rogs with this weapon, though i usually tell myself that all the rangers in their guild were probably already outfitted with them.

***- this post assumes that the raid to ST is Guild-led and not pickup. In a pickup raid, though this should still be considered for ranger only, rolls should be established prior to any drops and can be considered for all. If all rangers have it, then it should be open lotto.***

sorry if the post sounded "flamish". it wasnt my intent but perhaps i got a bit carried away; i was trying to answer the question. Perhaps now everyone will realize why rangers have beef with this wonderful bow being in an open lotto (at least in the case of Guild raids)

I am a 65 "Hunter" with 94 aa, I just got my ST key :). with the bow I use now ( Ssrahezian Longbow) I avg. 300 to 600 ashot with normal crits of 1089. with Trueshot I avg. 900 to 1200 a shot with 2270 crits. I am sure once avatar proc. I would do mass dmg. with this bow. and yes this is a Ranger bow. and should be given to Rangers first. Thank god my GL is a Ranger aswell who understands to whom these bows rightfully belong. 65 Ranger (Hunter) Trebori Nhadragh <El'lar Dobluth> Rathe server. doubt my crit abilities give me a tell I will show you ;) RAWR!!!

Very well said. as a ranger I know very well that the best bows should always be offered to the rangers first. However, though they were not as good as this one, I have twice found very nice bows durring raids and lost them to oppen lotto. I was the ONLY ranger present, and lost one to a rogue and one to a paladin.
RE: answer to questions
# Aug 30 2003 at 4:38 AM Rating: Decent
Just as a general statement, isn't is obvious that this should go to a ranger? That's what rangers do better than anyone else, they are the ranged non-magic class of the game. It's what they do and it's how balance is achieved in the game. Rangers go from being one of the more pathetic classes to the absolute most efficient DPS in the game. Some may argue that a wizzy could do more damage, while this might be true there's no way a wizzy could keep up with a ranger period, it just is not practical.

Anyways with that said this is like giving an item with improved damage 4 to a necro. Can he get some use out of it? Yes. Is it practical to give it to him? Absolutely not. Likewise for a Burning affliction item going to a mage instead of a necro. Ok I'm done.

Heh, funny reading this thing now...

btw, the proc rate on the bow sucks. Took like 23 arrows to get the first proc out of it. This is just a nice range item, not really an avatar proccin weapon, just avatar on this is an extra added bonus.
RE: *sigh*
# Feb 24 2003 at 4:48 PM Rating: Good
Aye, the proc rate is slow at first, but once you have Avatar proced, the proc rate dramatically increases.

The proc duration time can also be extended via SCR, one of our Luclin level AAs, increasing the duration by 5,10 and 30% I think (forgot the firm duration times...)

Also, I have been told the proc rate on the newer Primalistic is much worse than the old Primals. I have no data to back this up, simply passing along some rumors. Personally I think they proc rate should be the same.

Primalistic weapons not only drop from the 4 warder dragons, but also the 3 named golumns (MoTG, The Prog., and the FA).

For a good, mid-level raiding guild 2 groups is required to fight the named golumns. The fights are not too difficult, but you do need to have the capability to split tank up to 3 major mobs at once (7 minor ones with the Prog fight, but these 7 con light blue to a 65 ranger, and go down rather quickly).

Once you learn the techniques for clearing and pulling in Sleeper's Tomb, this is a fun place to hunt and farm your weapons to prepare your guild for luclin fights.

Happy hunting

Anyone ever consider putting one of these in the range just for the base stats it gives? I'm sure the hybrids would LOVE one of these (since there are items with more AC on these for main tanks.) Don't know what Rogues usually use in the range, but if the rangers going into ST have them already for whatever reason, 5 to all stats sure would be nice.

Use this bow until the Effect Procs,

Then switch to The WindStriker (I'd have 250Dex, 250Str and 250Agi)

Using A Fleeting Quiver bringing the 60 delay down to 18 with a 45 Damage, doing crits every other shot with my 200 Archery.

Using Damage 8 Arrows.

That's Damage53 Dly18 with 250Dex using a bow.

And easy 250+ damage per hit every 2 seconds - Snare kill yellow mobs with ease. heheh.

Good until Lev 55 for any ranger. Then we're hitting for 1000 per shot anyways with Trushot skill, cam and bow.

A quiver's weight reduction is not the same as haste from other items (like an FBSS). It is a direct reduction in the delay of a bow. Divide the weight reduction by 10 and subtract that from the bow delay to get the new delay. So for the Windstriker and Fleeting Quiver, you'd subtract 6 from the delay of the bow (60% reduction / 10) and you get 54 (60 - 6).

As for the damage on arrows, I don't believe it is added directly to bow damage. Unless I'm mistaken (I've read this from a number of sources), the damage of an arrow is added to the total damage. So, if you would hit for 23 with a bow and 1 damage arrows, you'd hit for 30 (or 31 depending on who you ask).

As for "hitting for 1000 per shot anyway," that's not true. While it is very possible to crit for 1000+ while Trueshot is activated, you have to take into account the possibility of misses and that Trueshot only lasts a short time.
RE: Okay, Here's an idea
# Mar 12 2002 at 11:38 PM Rating: Default
also have to take into account that you must have at least 200 skill in archery to hit that high, the mob must be standing still for double damage, and you have to get a critical hit. its not quite as simple as you think

Dmg Bonus?
# Nov 30 2001 at 12:46 AM Rating: Decent
Hey all, if you have this you are most likely level 60 with maxed Archery and high STR and DEX. What I want to know is what is the Dmg Bonus on it? And just how does it affect the max dmg outcome? I'm still a little lost on just how this Bonus works with regular Damage output. If anyone can help me out thanks, have fun all. Good hunting.

RE: Dmg Bonus?
# Dec 03 2001 at 12:08 PM Rating: Good
The damage bonus on a weapon is added to the damage you deal to a mob.
For instance:
I have a level 45 bard, my sionachie's partisan has 6 damage bonus. When I wield it in my main hand (only had you get damage bonus in) all my hits will be of 6 points more damage than if I would wield it in my offhand.
So let's say that with 130str and 9 damage on the weapon the damage I can deal will range from 1 to 30 (no exact numbers, but they will do for explaining how it works). The actualy damage I do unto a mob will be ranged from 1-30 if I wield this weapon in the offhand. In the mainhand the damage I deal will range from 7-36.

Twohand weapons are also wielded in the mainhand (though you can't have one in the offhand...du'h) so for a twohanded weapon the math works exactly the same.

Damage bonus is calculated from the delay of the weapon and the level on the person wielding it. I don't know the exactly formula for it though.

Damage bonus, as far as my experience goes, has effect from level one and up, contrary to some that claim it to only go into effect from level 51 and up. I can say for certain though, that from level 40 it definatly has effect.

Hope I made some sense, Rakso.

As a Warrior I would LOVE to get a bow like this. . . . However I never will, as this should ALWAYS be given to a ranger, plain and simple. Of course if there are no rangers in the group, and it was to rot, that of course would be another matter :)

1. Ranger
2. Warrior
3. Not going to happen, a Group in Sleepers WITHOUT a warrior ???

I would want this bow for the stats alone, let alone the damage it could cause :) Love to stick one in the eye of Naggy with this!
RE: Nice Bow
# Oct 21 2002 at 4:38 PM Rating: Good
Aloha hon --

Sadly, the last primal bow on Drinal went to an SK as the rangers on the raid all had their primal, and they could not get another ST capable ranger in position to loot the mob prior to decay. Warriors all had greater hp stamina items, and it went to Chitos the mighty SK (... happy for him and his 75 Archery skill...) Thus a non-ranger/warrior can get thebow, but generally everyone on the raid will default the primal bows to the rangers first.

Yes a warrior can crit with a bow but not nearly as good as a Ranger can (god i know i will heearit form ubber wars about this). Rangers are the reason bows wree made all the other classes just got jelious becuase foronce we get a weapon that others dpont that we invented so they go well rnagers cat have a thing just to them or a thing that they excell in as far as combat. well what ever we r the undesputed masters of archery we can crit for 700+ with bows at 60 a war will nver crit with a bow for that much we hit way mroe oftenthen warriors do we get a better bows WE ARE THE MASTERS of ARCHERY and it will stay that way. also vernat fnally relized how much they shafted us on armor and weapons and they r finally gonna mke up for it by give giveing us triple attack then we wills ee who does more dmg!!

All classes r equal it's the idiots who make us look bad.

I'm a ranger of the 35th level. I agree that rangers r the master of the bow. My ranger got his first bow crit (23) at lvl 11 or 12. I now have a trueshot on rentuntil i can raise my fletching enough to make my on. With it and a class 1 bone hooked arrow i crit for 47. I have a war friend who is 54 and has yet to crit with a bow. I feel that it is safe to say that rangers can outbow anyone else. I think this is our payment along with duel weild for being the only hybrid that doesnt get a special move i.e. LoH

I have an ogre warrior, lvl 35, he crits with his ashwood bow frequently. Dex is 100+, with HoS 150+ (I have this all the time when I solo in Dawnshroud). Procs range from 35 to 47, and I think I have seen procs over 50 or 60. As for who would get the Primal bow, I would have to agree that it goes to the ranger, but a part of me says there are better ranger only bows out there, and warriors should get a chance at this thing. Maybe it's just wishful thinking though ;)

# Jan 22 2002 at 1:28 AM Rating: Decent
Aye, that's definetely true.

Ranger with epics, out damage any melee class except a monk, except for a rogue who can backstab. Then we've got spells on top of that to boost us even more! But toe-to-toe, I can outdamage any warrior or paladin or SK or rogue. I solo in the Hole quite a bit, I drop down 2 or 3 bubbles of health, then I heal myself up and pull another.

The only thing we lack is ac, so we can't act like a tank at high levels. That's why we get the spell jolt, an anti-taunt spell pretty much. It's a great spell, and I'm glad we get it because it lets the warrior do what he's supposed to do; take damage. Even without a warrior to take hits for us though, rangers are a very powerful class and one to be reconned with.

The shaman spell named "avatar"

Level 60
require an emerald to cast (not on primal weapons though)
Add 100 STR - 100 DEX - 100 AGI
Others will say it add attack and AC
But AGI = AC multiplicator, more AGI you have, more AC you get, so from 40 to 80 AC you will get I believe.
And STR + DEX = more attack, its just normal..
It last 60 ticks (make 6 minutes)

i think in the next expansion magic based "damage" classes should be spared the pain of building up a charicter only to find out that 55+ they become 1/8th as effective, and be removed from the charicter creation screen.
done it before

Picked one up off nanzata last week raiding with my friends guild. Good Luck on yours.. its GREAT! I crit'd yesterday for 1003 after avatar proc'd (im a ranger). That was a crit/double damage at the same time.. pretty rare.
Rangers are best, but...

Yeah, Rangers are the only ones that can really use this awesome bow to it's FULL potential, but what about the rest of us that would like to have those really great stat bonuses? Rangers aren't the ONLY ones that can get a lot out of that bow...

At the risk of starting yet another "I deserve it more" flame/thread...

Rogues pull with bows because of the range.
Warriors pull with bows (straight pull or chain pull)
Rangers pull with bows (straight pull or chain pull)
Shadowknights can pull with bows to reduce recast time for FD.
Paladins can pull with bows because of the range.

Rangers crit with bows.
Warrior's crit with bows.

I can't think of any class that wouldn't want the stats. (AC?! Bah, I don't need no stinkin' AC!)

Why couldn't it be randomed to everyone that can use it? Not that most of us will ever see this item anyways, but it's nice to dream, right? ;)

(edit: heh, oops... I forgot paladins)

Question: Why couldn't it be randomed to everyone that can use it?

... where to begin ...

We get a discipline that allows us to inflict almost equal damage to a rogue, and aggro-free, and guess what weap this disc is activated with?

idiots...

Rangers don't just pull with bows, we fight and kite with them.

What's the capitol of Eritrea? Don't know, oh, you're an idiot. Yeesh.

Anyway: Why Rangers *should* get this bow before anyone else.

1) We crit with bows (yes, yes, so do warriors), but!
2) We do double damage on standing creatures, AND
3) Trueshot, discipline.

Once Avatar has proc'd, you should be doing at least 300 in your average shots. And with a Fleeting Quiver, that's 31 delay. Assuming you're standing back from the melee and the tanks aren't running around like freaks, the mob is standing still, so your average shot immediately goes up to 600! Factor in the occasional crit (I get at least 1 in a minute-long fight, usually), and you can whack the mob for more damage than a wizard sometimes.

Also, aside from the *fact* that rangers wheedle the most damage out of bows, when you're in Sleeper's more than just a single Velium bow is going to drop. So the warriors and paladins can be placated with regular hand-weapons that they could get more use out of damage-wise.

though it is opinion, and only opinion mind you. I think slashers to warriors/bards, two handers to paladins/sks, blunts to monks (for stats mainly, while pulling they need em), piercers to rogues. When you look at it that way, you can't deny a ranger a bow.
RE: Rangers are best, but...

well, considering that fact the we deserve this slightly more then most because. A) we can use it better not just for the stats but as a weapon. B) because we don't get to roll on the other primal velium stuff, while some other the time. Like lets say the 2hs drops mainly only warriors/pallies/shadowknights get to roll. the 1hs we all get roll, sometimes, it depends how much the other hybirds complain about why they can't duel wield and then need this to use with there shield. The blunt monk, sigh.

Yes we get a lot and every class would get a lot out of this bow, but rangers get the most.

I'm curious. I think that this would have to go to a Ranger first, my reasoning you ask? If you ask that, you shouldn't be playing. But can't rogues get a special critical with ranged weapons if they hit the enemy in the back? I forget what its called though.

You think? You get to be on the MOON, according to the official site. My question is whether or not there is going to be a joke mass murder of people who first get on the moon. OOPS, we thought that since it is a moon we decided there shouldn't be an atmosphere.

BWAHAHA, ROFLMAO.

BTW Have searched every bow on 3 websites. This IS the Best, 2nd seems to be the Priceless one.

actually if your not worried about losing stats, a ranger could go with the windstriker, 45/60 5str 5dex 5agi 10hps, effect whirlwind, they would lose the avatar proc but they would gain a 100dd/leviate/10sec(or so) stun proc instead..its just a thought, although, I dont doubt that the primal bow is better.

other night VS was up and me needing some tolan legs called on my 60 ranger friend who has this bow,now for all who have done with guy he AE lifetaps so bad to have a ton of tanks around him...all i can say is she was far enough away from the AE she craked up a can of disc trueshot and let em fly...she was getting hits of upper 400-500+ almost every 2-3 shots her haste was also capped which helped...saw the bow effect think once or twice but she was still dishing out her fair share of damage,im thinking almost as much as the warrior tanking VS, fyi this bow isnt given to others except rangers (exception if all rangers have the bow of course but heh dont hold your breath).
oober?

to the Greedy theiving rogue that wants this bow over a Ranger.....you should be Backstabbed...

to the Snivelling ranger that wants to get their hands on a Primal piercing weapon over a Rogue .....you should be Shot....

There are Primal weapons that will suit most melee classes ....

if you made it to Sleepers you know who gets what already anyway...
