My cleric just won this today. Very nice stats for a cleric helm. As noted in the item description in the header, the True Sight effect is PERMANENT when worn. Only downside is that this helm has absolutely no graphic when worn on my Male High Elf Cleric. Don't know if it's the same with other race/class combos but kind of disappointing. Not that much of a fashion plate that I will be wearing any other head piece for a while anyway.
hehe breaks root? shouldnt be too much of a problem decent war would have agro..and as for the warriors not likin it..i guess they dont need the extra attck bonus? /shrug...do think its weird tho i also proc more with my measly base 123 dex..buffed i proc less /boggle oh well, anyway the helm is nice, regardless of the stats a warrior could do much worse hp>ac>all eep did i say that?
Warlord helm is ony thing i would upgrade this to, then i would still keep this for the effect.. Im a barbarian and they cant see for sh~t so this helm is perfect.. I know HP > All but cmon 34 ac w/stats + Truesight.. Goodbye fingerbone hoop ! LTK drops this kinda common, out of 5 kills we have seen 4 i think...

It kinda seems like truesight is a minor feature of this helm. I know there's @ least one other helm in eq w/ the same effect. My point is that you would think they'd come up w/ a better name for it. Well, you'd hope they would @ least.
This helm would be better off in the hands of a paladin or SK. Don't get me wrong, it's an awesome helm, but they'd just get more benefit from it, with the other stat boosts. Of course, I'm a mile away from being able to get one, so take my words as you will. :)
I'll have two of whatever you're drinking. 7 wis on a cleric helm is outstanding. I think alot more classes would benefit than those posted there. Paladins and SKs wouldn't benefit anymore than anyone else on this one.
It's funny about Boon of the Garou. It raises dexterity by 100 yet EVERY SINGLE TIME I get it cast on me I proc less with my Fiery Defender than when I'm in regular form. And on top of that, it cancels Divine Might, which BLOWS. I give Verant the finger on that one. Plus it's very disorienting they way the first person view moves around like a roller coaster. Can make you sick on those late night raids.

have you ever had that view? no matter which way you look at it, it's annoying. i'm a warrior, and i get so pissed with it from every angle that i take it off. its cool the first 15 min's you have it, but trust me it becomes DAMNED annoying.
Nuvian Ghostbear 57th level warrior Realm of Ages Fennin Ro server
What warrior wouldn't want bonus attack, approximately an extra 100dex, and a 29dmg lifetap proc for an innate ability? Plus boon of the garou makes you look like a werewolf, one of the coolest illusions in the game!
Wow! UV... My barbarian warrior would really like this. Does anybody know if there are any other items with UV or even IV? Needless to say, I am pretty much blind at night. =(
If anyone gets this, and you see any PC of a race that doesn't see in the dark (ie human/erudite/etc.), pls right click it on us. No one will be upset...really :)
Man my blind human paly would love this (or any nice item w/clickable UV)

Well, I've gotten the distinct impression that Illusions in Norrath are ... shall we say significant? They appear more akin to shapeshifting. Since when you take on the image of an animal or race, you also take on all their abilities (like infra/ultravision, regeneration, and speed) and faction, its more than just a simple light illusion.
I don't think Norrathian illusions are "see-throughable." Not in the normal sense anyway.

gestalt:illusion iksar and illusion troll do grant regeneration iksar being the better of the 2 regens my chanter gets 5hp per tick in iksar form and 2 hp per tick in troll compared to the 1hp per tick in regular high elf form
"Troll and Iksar illusion grant no regeneration, and wolf illusion does not grant SoW."
Actually Illusion:Troll gives an extra 1hp/tick regeneration. Not much, but it's there. Illusion:Iksar raises your swimming to 200 for the duration of the illusion... Illusion:Ogre lets you Bash, Illusion:Spirit Wolf grants an ATK bonus I believe, as well as cold resist. So yes, abilities are often passed on... but not in their full form perhaps.
Actually all 3 "Large Race" Illusions give Bash (Troll, Ogre and Barbarian). I must test the Iksar Swimming... would help my Enchantress a lot when she's trying to swim to the Timorous Deep firepots :-)
illusion ogre grants bash wow im gonna have to log on now and test that hehehe and all this time i put that spell in the back of the book and only brought it out when i was feeling evil in solusk b with a little entrance blocking up my sleeves

Posted:May 16 2001 at 4:55 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i think the only one that illusions can grant is ultravision... maybe something else...
Wolf Form and Group Wolf Form grants SoW and an attack bonus. Later druid versions also grant ultravision or see invisible
Form of the Great Bear grants a wisdom increase and regeneration to the shaman.
Tree Form and Spirit of Oak grant regeneration.
Call of Bones, Lich, Demi Lich, and Arch Lich gives the necromancer a mana increase, hit point decrease, and ultravision, or see invisible.
Illusion Werewolf grants the enchanter an attack bonus.
Boon of the Garou grants the recipient an attack and dexterity bonus.
Illusion Troll grants the enchanter regeneration, as previously mentioned, one additional point per tick.
Illusion Earth Elemental gives the enchanter a 10 point strength boost.
Illusion Air Elemental gives the enchanter the ability to levitate.
Illusion Fire elemental gives the enchanter a fire shield.
Illusion Drybone grants fire resistance to the enchanter.
Illusion Water Elemental gives the enchanter water breathing.
Before you start saying what an illusion spell can't do, try playing a class that can actually cast those illusions or asking someone. There's usually a reason they're used besides avoiding being KoS in certain areas.
Werewolf: also gives 50% racial haste, and about 30 str (stacks with spell haste, throw on an aug to practice melee skills if you get bored I guess)
Dark elf: hide
Boon of the Garou: adds to hand-to-hand damage cap (about 5 points for monks w/fists), Increases max backstab... had 3 55+ rogues score new record backstabs with boon on in one night. Could be a coincidence, but everyone seems to get consistently better bstabs.
I would like to see the illusions be of more use, though. I mean, really. The only one with an even decent buff effect is werewolf, which would be great if we were melee, but of course we frickin aren't. So what do these illusions REALLY do for us? Jack. Yay.. air ele saves us a BAT WING.... imagine my ELATION. The drybone FR doesnt stack with mage DamShield FR buff(which is of course stronger than drybone), and pretty much the whole line of illusions is limited to faction hits. Oh joy.
Another thing that pisses me off is faction htis in minor illusion. I mean, say you go to solb before killing anything on koboldsoffirepit faction. Minor illusion, youre indifferent. Kill ten... dubious. Kill fifty, scowl. Guess what, the rock they wouldnt attack ten minutes ago is now KOS. Now, why the FREAK would you attack a ROCK? I really want to freakin know that.
And the faction is kinda gimpy too. Why is wolf-form indiff in unrest, but illusion:skeleton (which does nothing but make you kos just about every where by the way) will get you dead faster than you can/yell? Let's see... wolf.....skeleton.....wolf...skeleton. Yeah, I can see why that wolf fits in with those undead way better than the frickin' skeleton.
Why do enchanters, who get the title "illusionist" get spells taht are gimpy illusions, while shamen/druids/necros get illusions that are better than ours? What freakin sense does that make? And they want to REMOVE some enchanter illusions from our lineup because they should be the realm of ANOTHER class? Which class? The OTHER illusionists? Total bs =P. Next time an illusion that I have buffs wisdom like form of great bear, uber movement buff like wolf form, or uber mana convert like lich, I might see the sense in my title. Illusionist, they call me. Master of nothing. (on that same note, why the FREAK do we get to be 'phantasmists'? I've never summoned/controlled/fabricated anything having to do with phantasms, or even phantasmic illusion effects =P)
*grumble* Worthless illusions
(not to mention they are reverse gimping us by making rogues/bards able to get illusions too =P. I understand rogue.. like sneaky and stuff... but WHY bard? They freakin SING SONGS, like pansies.. they don't live in the shadows like a rogue, or have the trickery that the enchanter supposedly commands.)
From an RP standpoint, illusions shouldn't give any stats at all. An illusion is making yourself look like something, not turning yourself into something. Shamans, druids, and necromancers get the real nice effects because they are actually turning into a bear/wolf/tree/skeleton or whatever they happen to be turning into. I never really understood why an illusion would grant any special effects.

Posted:May 18 2001 at 10:52 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Boon of the Garou sucks. Every warrior I've tried to cast it on says they hate it.
May want to try casting it in combat (thats what its for) on a warrior with enough brains to deal with the swaying or change the view, it really rocks in the 40s, and is still an improvement in mid 50's. the only reason I could see a problem with it, is an increase taunt factor, but that just helps the warrior be a better meat shield, could see a ranger of monk having a prob with it tho... and now a final thought WHAT THE BLOODY HELL DOES BOON OF THE GAROU HAVE TO DO WITH THIS ITEM ???? made ya look )
1. You can't bash/slam with it 2. Some people get "seasick" with all the bobbing a werewolf does when it attacks (solution: don't play in first person view) 3. They think it's ugly 4. The 29 point lifetap proc breaks root just about every single time. 5.. well I don't know more right now. :)
