Mage item ?
# Jul 17 2002 at 7:26 AM Rating: Default
Umm.. HELLO ?! wtf were they thinking when they made this SE3? I was real happy to have won the bid on this item only to be partly dissapointed to find out they scrapped the SH3. If I had known, I would have passed it to a mage who could have put it to good use. I hope they change it.

Yep same feeling here, was really happy with spell haste III but was very disappointed to see it change to summoning efficiency after only 1 day.

1) I'm sick of coming to raids, PotGing, Group Regrowthing, Fire Debuffing, fr/cr buffing, only to see clerics get every friggin drop as they can equip most everything that drops, whether it be bps/boots/etc.

2) I'm sick of watching even clr/dru/shm items go to clerics in most cases.

...so, if something all/all drops and is designed for priests, give it to a damned druid or shaman to finally reward them with *something*.

>I'm sick of Druids always feeling like they are the red headed step child of the game.

When it comes to equipment, they are. At least among wisdom casters. I can't speak for the rest.

>you knew you playing an easy class that no one wants to grp with by the time you hit 40 in the third week of playing

That's like saying nobody wants to group with a rogue or wizard in the mid-levels. I've known a lot of wizards that have quit between 35 and 50 because they never got groups...nobody thought they were useful. Now we can't find enough.

> The raid would go fine without the druid there to help out

The raid's butt has been saved many a time when some druid throws in some back-up healing when some cleric doesn't or can't do their job.
Let's not forget that a druid can give you about 150 CR and 50-65 on the rest, and can do more than just be a back-up healer. Oh yeah, and the raid would probably never start in the first place without druids to port you and sow/invis you across the treacherous zones after the port site.

>If you want good gear play a class that counts.

They all count. If you weren't spoiled by the ability to get a pick-up group in under three minutes any day of the week, maybe you'd see that.

Right, druids are indeed useful on raids... for example just last night, I was pretty much the only druid there, I was in charge of healing the clerics (it was a guild CT raid)... backup healers can = the backbone to a raid, often taken advantage of, and unotticed when we do some of the useful things..
btw Level 60 druids are pretty decent healers.. if the damn -10% healing penality was removed, we'd be pretty good lol

BAH /rude /rude can someone say noobie scum, and i dont mean low lvl i mean you started playing when SoV came out bought all the nifty books on what to be and how to play. and as for druids not being needed, lets see your cleric *** run from WC to ToV, then lets see you snare that mob running toward help. NO CLASS READ CAREFULLY NO CLASS deserves loot because they are the class that counts, all Classes count. everyone has a role and that is what raiding is about knowing your role and doing it well.

#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 16 2002 at 7:34 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Actually, there are some classes that count more than others. AC Caster items, they go to enchanters. Mana caster items, without a doubt 100 mana to a wizard = 150 - 200 damage more on manaburn... considerably more on a crit. An item with a root effect, goes to a mage.... HP's go to necro's.
RE: a few things...
# Dec 03 2002 at 8:12 PM Rating: Decent
he is right, why give uber AC stuff to a druid over a cleric when its the clerics that are needed to ch the MT's. Druids have a lot of control over aggro they take and should almost never get hit, clerics have very little control. they MUST CH the tank regardless, because odds are if your tanks aren't getting complete heals, they are gonna die, or you're entire raid is in about 30 seconds.

the clerics will take aggro at some point on almost every raid, that is why they need AC over a druid. Its the same reason enchanters get AC, they MUST mez mobs and probably will take aggro and get hit during the raid, especially on hard to mez mobs. Every other class, should not be doing anything to get aggro, if a druid is nuking to the point he/she will take aggro, there is no reason the druid needs to nuke again, they can just stop nuking until its safe to again. likewise with mages, wizards, ect.

No raid wants a druid or mage that chain nukes until they get themselves killed from aggro or a ranger rogue monk ect that wants prove he can outaggro the MT. People will probably get mad if these classes constantly get aggro too. and as for clerics and enchanters, no one will ever complain that these classes took aggro, because they almost always take it from doing something that is 100% necessary to the groups survival.

As for the post on druids are needed on raids... no, not really, wizards can port and evac too, better infact since they have TL, only requires one wizard to port out a whole raid, and you can always use POK portals and run if you need ports to assemble. Druids are a secondary class, they do a lot of different stuff, but are not necessary as there is always another class in game that can do their role just as well, if not better. clerics are a primary class, not much can do their role even close to as well. The trade off is clerics really can only heal, doing one task really well and druids get a lot of tasks they can choose from to do, but none they can do exceptionally well over others.

Yes, there is the thought of the crown of flowers on our sacriligious heads. However, it's better given to our cleric and shaman brethren as that WIS will give them much more mana than we will get from the Circlet's appearance. I'd much rather have the Malevolent or Blood Lord's Crown than the Circlet of Summer. Both of the Crowns have better AC and are better suited to our needs.
Druid Equip? Shaman? who cares?
# May 15 2001 at 10:39 AM Rating: Excellent
I havea lvl 54 druid.. and a lvl 51 bard.. Frankly... EITHER of them could use this. Sure better druid than bard when worn...

My SS helm on Bard is AC 21.. The additional benefits being able to summon a eye of zomm.. This eye has 1 hps and even other players can attack it. Once summoned you will havethe fine privilage of seeing the nearest 3 melee classes run forward and stab it.

This helm has AC 20.. it has +15 resist cold.. it also has 40 hp... all bard beneficial.... Warriors may not want this.. BUT everyone else will.

My druid would trade his left nut for one of these helms... true... but everyone will want one. Frankly I think it was made with druids in mind... just look at the name.... look at the stats and tell me otherwise so I can laugh... BUT almost anyone would benefit from owning one.

for those saying druids would want just for a raise of 1 one so wisdom I would lik eto give an example. My lvl 54 druid wears a ruined circlet. +4 AC +4 Wis +4 Int .. I am sorry but I don't think I would be trying to squeak a SMALL improve by getting this helm. I think the 16 AC 6 wisdom 40 mana 40 hps and 15 resist cold gained for the loss of 4 int which is usless to me would be more than a LITTLE improvement.

Druid gear is majorly lacking.. we are one of the very few classes that got no quest armor in the original contients... our ES is almost useless since we need the wisdom.. it weighs a TON... AND The snare is not ensnare so it is not very reliable.. I never use my gloves.. my sleeves do 340 dmg my CURRENT dot does 1200 The casting time is HUGE I woul dbe better off medding unless I was soloing... in a full group the mob is 1/4 dead before my sleeves go off... and DoT runs to about 1/2 (170 hps) before end of battle... why the hell would I use the effect unless soloing? I have been half tempted to trade sleeves for some azure ones that CASTERS can use and are higher AC than any leather I have ever seen. Druids are the only leather class until Luclin comes out and we have been left behind on equip.

At lvl 54 I use a cured tizmak tunic also for the ac and MR I can't even get a treeweave tunic because I am a halfling. 15 AC tunic is the best it seems I can get without planar gear or harder to obtain. So to the guy who said druids try and claim everything.. I laugh at your idiocy... there is not much we CAN have... that is why we fight for the few things we are able to use.

Lack of equip was one of the reasons I made the bard... at least now I have something to look forward to obtaining every now and then.
Shamans and such
# May 15 2001 at 6:33 AM Rating: Decent
I play a shaman and a human druid. The druid at lv 40 has about 179 wisdom because I choose to wear gnome skin legs and tunic for the looks. Its never been a problem soloing.

Shamans on the other hand in my experience dont care diddly about wis until they take care of AC first. Sure, eventually they strive for 200 wisdom, but not until later when they get the uber ac/wis gear. Shaman slows have huge taunt, and they need to take a beating. An empty mana bar is better than an empty health bar any day. You can always wince back some mana.
RE: Shamans and such
# May 15 2001 at 10:44 AM Rating: Default
I think canabalize is the main reason Shaman's dont bother with Wis gear, not as much getting hit. I would guess it's more important for HP gear, which would give them more mana when converted. I think this item is equally good for clerics who do on any given day take a beating for their complete heals.

I can't wait to see a Shadow Knight's equipment that reads "Blood-Runed Breastplate, Noctivagent Greaves, Shield of Fury, Lamentation, and Circlet of Summer". I'd just laugh. Sure, it's all-all, and I think the first SK possible to grab this should be able to, if only for the sheer entertainment of a walking unholy slaughter-house having a lovely little crown of flowers on his dainty sacreligious head. It'd be great.

#REDACTED, Posted: May 15 2001 at 12:25 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) and why give this to a monk? Because it has ac! well, a tranquil staff would be great for a ranger, it has damage and delay! we need that. it would go to either a ranger or paladin (druids, shamans, and clerics get better im thinkin).
RE: Perfect for a monk nt
# May 15 2001 at 3:50 AM Rating: Decent
Slight flaw in your theory I'm sure you know, but don't want confused rangers hoping to use TStaff.

This is all/all, tranq is monk only...so would be less than great as a weapon in ranger hands. =)

However, by time a monk is raiding ToV, he likely has better (and lighter as well). So I agree, wis tank or caster before others probably.

great for a cleric shaman and druid but then again druids are so deprived i mean able to solo from 14-55 isnt enough they must claim andything that adds more than 4wisdom as theres and make it so other wisdom casters cant lotto on items
RE: druids yeah
# May 15 2001 at 1:22 AM Rating: Default
Fact is druids don't get anything that compares to this. It has 10wis and 40 mana (I think that's the highest on head gear we get) and 20 ac (you'll never see another piece of druid headgear with that much) 40hp which we desperately need (lets face it, 1280hp at level 60 isn't a whole lot seeing as how a lvl 35 warrior has more), and it has 15 sv cold, which, lets face it, is essential for dungeoning in Velious. THIS IS DRUID FIRST in my opinion because any other class that could POSSIBLY make use of it (i.e. Shaman, Cleric, Paladin, Ranger [well maybe not rangers]) get MUCH better range of gear for the head slot.

I know i sound like a ranting dr00d d00d, but if you think about it...it makes sense.

Actually druids can solo from 1-60 without too much hassle... that's part of the class.

The point is that druids are very limited in what wisdom items they can use, leather only (or specific magic items and ALL/ALL stuff).

Shaman get Leather/Chain/some other metal armor.
Clerics get Leather/Chain/Plate and basically anything they like.

Try to look at it from a druids point of view... any time they see an item with more than 10 wisdom, it's usually not druid usable... reaching 200 wisdom is a pain, they have to sacrifice resist/ac gear everywhere, and fight off every other class that wants the item since most of the good wisdom stuff druids can use is either ALL/ALL, or usable by Shaman/Cleric also.
RE: druids yeah
# Feb 19 2002 at 9:06 PM Rating: Default
Here is the thing guys yes druids suffer for gear but as a druid and a cleric both let me tell you that it is much more dificult to dress a cleric then a druid. Druids need Wis and svALL. While Clerics need both of those plus AC STR AGI DEX.

When I solo, druid gets hit, druid dies so AC, AGI are not a concern, druid hits and that means druid is being hit = druid dies, so DEX, STR are not a concern.

When I solo, cleric gets in it's face and beats the tar out of it while she blasts it. So she gets hit, AC, AGI a must. She hits so STR, DEX a must.
RE: druids yeah
# May 14 2001 at 8:42 PM Rating: Default
Heh...it is MUCH harder for a shaman to get 200 wisdom than for a druid to. If you think otherwise, you dont know anything about shaman equiptment. It is NOT hard to get a druid to 200 wisdom, for one reason, you start with a considerable amount of wisdom more than shamans do. This is a GREAT item for shamans, druids,or clerics. Any one of the 3 could benefit equally.
RE: druids yeah
# May 14 2001 at 10:37 PM Rating: Default
Sure, if you go for one of the cookie cutter dime a friggin dozen wood elf/halfling druids. Try playing a human druid sometime and then see how easy it is to get to 200 WIS. Barbarians start with about the same base wisdom (-5 points) but they get a lot more strength to balance that, plus they can wear the chain/plate stuff. Trust me, having a lvl 46 human druid I'm still right arounf 175ish or so.
Um...
# Aug 12 2001 at 3:18 AM Rating: Default
Are you aware that it was a level 59 human druid that won the druid best of the best on the Torvonnilous server? Beating a 60 wood elf in the first round even. So think before you post.
RE: Um...
# Nov 06 2001 at 7:20 AM Rating: Default
wis doesn't mean much in a druid botb. it's all about gear and resists. also, i can get my wis to around 300 if i want, so no 59 druid should not have max wis, even if they didn't put any points into it.

with full resist gear on, i still have around 220-230 wis, so it shouldn't be an issue.

what rocks about this headpiece is amazing ac, resist and mana (i get beat on all the time as the designated snarer and debuffer. i don't know about you, but i don't like getting hit for max damage because i have low ac.

soon i'll hit around 1k AC, and already i notice a big difference of how fast my HPs drop compared to other druids in the 700-800 AC range.

i'm certainly not saying this is a druid helm only by any means. it would be extremely nice for quite a few classes. just saying that it would be useful to a druid. =)

HUMAN DRUIDS ROCK!!!! Actually I just hit 194 wis in my 39th druid. I picked human cause I wanted a challange, and boy is it ever. My other stats suck due to the heavy wis items, which is a trade off I can handle.

There are 2 ways to look at the stat issue...

Are you a power gamer(slacker) or casual(real life)...

Will U be able to goto the planes and get planer armor(have 8 hours to kill at one setting- *** hurts)....

If U are a power-gamer and can goto the planes dont worry about your starting stats cause they will change when U really start playing this game post 50:) My friend who has a DE mage put all his stats into int, now that he is 55 and has 240 int with all his planer gear he wishes that he would have done things differently when he started. Another thing is that my main is a HUMAN necro, who to this day has only 184 int at lvl 52 and has never been to the planes, has managed to survive with out hitting 200 int. Bottom line U dont need 200 anything ...its just to brag to your friends.

Heck anyone can get to lvl 46 in no time, IF U have have the time.

The game used to be about getting to 50 ...now its about getting to 50 so U can goto the cool places and get the sweet loot... Great game :)

RE: druids yeah
# May 15 2001 at 6:57 AM Rating: Default
Agreed, this is about as good as it gets for a Druid, though I really don't think that other wis-based classes should be excluded from lottoing on it just because of that fact, unless they don't plan on using it because they already have or can readily get better.

Oh, and a Human's wisdom is a whole 5 points lower than a wood elf's (and halfling's.) The difference is marginal at best (as opposed to a Half-elf, who for some reason have a wis 20 points under a Wood elf and 15 below a human's.) The reason to play a wood elf druid are the little extras: foraging at level 1, hide, better dex, and much better agility. The trade off is lower strength and stamina, which is generally speaking well worth it. But as far as the "core" druid abilities go, humans, wood elves, and halflings are pretty close.

But really, the only excuse for your "challenging" wisdom is your equipment. ;) Its not *that* easy to get to a 200, my level 40 (yes, Wood Elf) has a 190, and that's with at least 2 points of wisdom on every piece but the belt. If my character was a human, I'd have a 185. :)
RE: druids yeah
# May 14 2001 at 11:39 PM Rating: Default
Ummm... you play a human druid? If you are whining about not being able to get 200 wis with your HUMAN druid you should have sacraficed the balanced stats of a human char. for the higher wis of a half-elf or a wood-elf. When I created my DE magi I took the lower int than High elves and eurdites for the agi. So if you are so concerned about not having 200+ wis you should have done a better job creating your char. :)
