Great stats - crap look

I just got me one of these for my Cleric - awsome helm. However, like all hats it looks really naff on a female High Elf it has the stupid cat look. It wont take a dye either. Anyone know if its possible to make it no-show like some of the thurg armour?

Dyed mine to match my ornate pieces, looks very nice. Swirls still show, but not the baby blue color.
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 04 2003 at 8:51 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ok so what is the AC cap? And can you please tell me how having an additional say 50 or even 100 HP on this item would make ANY difference in one of the battles you are talking about? When the mobs are hitting you for 1000+ damage per hit how does 100 more HP make ANY difference? Doesn't, you are still dead either way. The only advantage I can see is that if you have 10 items with 100 each then you would have enough to survive ONE MORE HIT. HP are WAAAAAY over rated in my book and tanks that pay a fortune for things like Mosquito Leg Earings are clearly delusional in my opinion.
HP does make a difference

Once you hit the high-end game (no I'm not talking about the uber gnolls you've been fighting at HHK) and you start acquiring pieces of armor that are easily 20, 30, 40, and 50+ AC, you DO get diminishing returns for higher AC. This is why every tank and melee class will start filling their inventory with 100 HP bonus items per slot. Please don't argue or refute facts you don't even understand yourself. You'll only make yourself look silly.
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 10 2003 at 3:29 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) And that's why you're a newbie. You don't know ****, PERIOD. And that my friend is NOT an opinion, it is FACT.
This goes to tanks?
# Aug 01 2002 at 4:39 PM Rating: Decent
Oh, and for those idiots who like to post here trying to flame others, let me flame you both.

This would never go to a tank over the other classes it is usable by.

Want to know why? NO HITPOINTS. AC DOES NOT MATTER IN THE HIGH END. Grats, I now have 100 more ac, guess how much Avatar of War will hit me for? Max damage. I know people with 1600 + AC who are always hit for max damage on fights like the Burrower, Emperor, AoW, etc. I know I am.

The stat that matters is HP In the high end. You live longer, period. AC is important if you have not yet hit the AC cap, but anyone worth their salt should've done that ages ago.

In short, clerics usually die fast regardless. If they get aggro from a high end mob, they will probably die, so HP is not as important to them, they'd need a TON of HP to make the difference. This gives resists and wis.

A tank would never get this, and if they do, I hope their leader /guilddeletes
RE: This goes to tanks?
# Nov 21 2003 at 1:21 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, Just curious but do you even have a high end toon? If so you would know that you also need resists, and this helm has 15 to all resists which is a GOOD thing to have so a tank wouldnt be stupid to have this depending on their other gear. And since only 1 tank is even supposed to get hit on most raids, the backups would need resists for most AoE. Before you start saying crap about items, check the other stats besides HP and AC.
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 01 2002 at 12:21 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Is that why I just bought one for 45k?
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 22 2002 at 11:56 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You guys have lost it. Totally. This baby sells for 70 - 100k on cazic Thule. I own one and have seen 2 sold at auction in the past 4 months.

I have to agree. The belt of Dwarf Slaying would be PERFECT for a cleric, as well as anyone else who can wear.

I'd love to upgrade from my girdle of Mithaniel. The saves on the Belt of Dwarf Slaying are awesome. For a cleric, saves, and Wis/Mana are my primary concerns. I usually take more damage from aoes than anything else. The more I can resist, the less I have to watch MY health bar, which is a good thing for the tanks. The worst of course, is when the mob fears you, and you're running around in circles, while your tanks die.

Aura of battle is not a good enough reason to label an item melee only, when it has awesome overall stats Like BoDS.

BTW, The mithril helm on this page is the best droppable resist item a cleric can get. Since I have not been able to get one raiding, I purchased one of these in the bazaar. The price was painful to pay. but it's now one of my favorite armor pieces.

Once a cleric gets Wis maxxed (with buffs), their main concern will usually be good resist items, preferrably with ac/wis/hp. This has all but the HP, and SO much resists/wis that I could swap one of my rings out for valorium, and still have maxxed wis, and a nice jump in HP from the ring.

In everquest if your 30 + you can survive with fineplate, ONLY thing that matters is resists, you could be lvl 50 and go to ToV with full skyshrine and all resists at 200 and you would die in the first 20 secs, if your 57+ in fineplate and resists at 170 you will survive, this whole ac crap is insane what ppl belive! theres a ac 60 robe for casters, and now this 35 ac helm and 35 ac gaunts (mithrill gaunts) its INSANE. ppl think that if im lvl 20 and i havent got the best armour in the game i suck. Think now way way way back when EQ came out, no high lvls no uber stuff. immagin that lvl 37 warrior in SolB when he gets his first peice of bronze? hes wearing leather, one or 2 peices of crafted and that fine steel sword, now think of this today "NOOOO I SUCK I ONLY HAVE FULL DEEPWATER AT 30!!! NOOOO" thats what ppl think, really . if ur 50 plus go try going to sebilis in FP you will probaply get hit 5 or so points harder, and hit for 5 points harder but aint it the wizzis jobs to do the damage? and only the tanks to keep the mobs AWAY from the casters? the dev team is probably laughin at our desperat need for all these ac items.... Let the flaming begin!

shut up! :) hehehe your right... twinky twinky anyone? I have banded and level 17... (have the mask of deception as a rogue but that is it) and I think I am the ONLY non twink often (yeah when other rogues can do 75 BS, and I can only do 45 with a dragoon dirk (great trade for Bracer of Battle) something is wrong.. but seriously people this is UBER you won't see this most likely.. if you do you are super lucky, this is level 55 people not for level 30s nor for 40s.. rare for 50s probably.. I don't know about Fine plate or what not... but I go for light gear (I only have 75 STR right now bow faster dex and agi then most)

These posts are so funny I want to **** my pants.

duh, duh, I'll by that for 3k or whatever, its on

For christ sakes, this helm comes from NToV, I should know, I have it and yes I'm a cleric.

The people who have gotten this helm were clerics/shamans, but the shamans have passed this down for the 50ac helm...thats right, out of 4 50ac helms, 3 have gone to shamans and 1 cleric. personally I like this helm better than the 50ac on, its 15 less ac, but the resists own hard.

All of my resists are 130-150 range unbuffedd now, so listen fewl, you will not find this for sale and if you do, expect to see the +50k value on it.

level 32 wants to buy it, please..take your 900-3kpp and buy a clue.

Wow, finally somebody who doesn't think the only stat that matters is AC, and that since AC is the only stat that matters, all high-AC items go to the main tank(or maybe the monk).

It's always a crying shame to see how many people think that wis/int/mana are useless stats, and that only tanks get hit. Heck, when I cast a slow, I become the tank whether or not my slow lands. If it doesn't land and I have to try again while getting beat on, high AC does me a lot of good. And a slowed mob does the raid a ton of good.

Your guild seems to have the right idea about not automatically assigning items with good AC to tanks every single time.

# Oct 25 2001 at 6:48 PM Rating: Default
The impression i got from their posts is that most stats are useful to most classes, not that any specific stats should go to specific classes... & where do YOU get the authority to say what ALL "uber" guilds do w/ their loot? There are many systems used by different high-end groups for deciding what to do w/ loot.

RE: Price
# Aug 12 2001 at 1:28 AM Rating: Decent
Not sure if you know this, but the person that sells this needs to click the little delete button at the bottom the character seletion screen.

1) Uber guild, It goes to the person who throws out their DKPs.
2) Should that person EVER get something better, not gonna happen tho, it goes into the uber guild vault till someone else needs it to become ever more uber.
3) Selling price: N/A refer to 1), but... should the uber guild need the cash, but no one else in the guild needs this awesome helm, then it would sell for AT LEAST 50K, but that is on the low side, look at the stats that is like the monk epic, but better... In conclusion, this is one of those items that is: NFS

#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 31 2001 at 9:33 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) ok... where to begin well first off the person who said that this helm is for pali and clerics must be a bit retarded, this thing is good for so many more classes u dumb*ss this thing would rox on a shammy, and a few other classes like rangers!!! My god man this thing has higher ac then the golden leaf helm and rangers can use it dont u think it might be a really good for a class that can normally only use low ac items???

It's kind of like if lord yelinak dropped a short sword of the ykesha. No one there would use it, but I don't think I'd sell it either. Neat little trophy piece to pass around for fun.

I wouldn't go actively trying to buy this. Considering it drops from a dragon that hasn't been killed yet on most servers, it probably isn't readily available.
Very cool helm

Find it very cool that new mithril pieces are bein discovered. Not sure about the pricing on this but if anyone has one for sale for no more than 3k,be more than happy to work out somethin for it.
