Anyone who claims that this item is for one class or another is a fool. What the hell do you think ALl/All means? Esp on an item that has great resis values. It seems to me that folks saying that this is for their class needs to get out on more large raids. Then you may learn the value of resis gear. Wouldn't it be nice if your cleric survived long enough to heal you? Or perhaps that poor Barb Warrior out front taking the beating from a number of casters. The AC, STA, DEX, and AGI are all great as well, but they dont make the item rogue or monk only.
Because it IS more useful for some classes.

An ALL/ALL item might be best in the game for one class, while it's almost useless for another class. An example would be something like the ancient wyvern hide tunic. AC40, some stat bonuses. It would be AWFUL for a warrior. Any warrior worth his salt at that level would have better. However, it's about TWICE as good as the next best thing for a monk. It blows away anything else.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 16 2001 at 2:02 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) yea right, before you post stupid answers look at the equipment list for face slots yourself, the one right above this item is all/all also and is just a smaller version. TWICE as good. maybe your just twice as dumb.

I was talking about breastplates, you twit. Yes, there's the mask of the dragonslayer. That's also from killing Yelinak, and like many of the end-rewards for Velious factions, is all/all. However, try to read up a few lines, and you'll see the mask from western wastes. Gosh, do you think that's easier to get than this thing, off of Koi'Doken from deep within the forbidden area of ToV, or the mask from yelinak, or the mask from Cazic Thule? And, shocker, it's not monk or caster usable. Even when you're thinking of items that are the best, you need to think of how easy it is for different classes to get substitutes.

I agree with you that many items that are ALL/ALL are better for a particular class or two. However, I in my post I was strictly refering to this item. Denying someone a chance to win this on a raid strictly due to their class is just wrong.
It's a question of fairness

Loot really does two things - it makes one character stronger, and is a morale boost. As background for how an item like this is awarded, let me describe the loot systems of the two guilds that have killed Koi'Doken, the guy who drops this: Afterlife on Mithaniel Marr, and Fires of Heaven on Veeshan. Afterlife uses an elaborate and very interesting point system. The gist of it is this - you attend raids, and get points. You then spend points on items, and the person who has the most points overall gets to 'buy' it. Now, the interesting thing is in a case like this, monks or casters are more likely to have seniority - there's less items out there they'd be likely to buy, so if an item -is- better for them than for other classes, in all liklihood they'd have the most desire and the most points. So the system works. Now, FoH is very different. The leader decides who is the most deserving and could use it most, and he just decides that person loots. This item hasn't dropped yet for them, but it wouldn't be a big stretch to think this might go to one of their primary monks. The only thing that really makes this tough to call is the +sta, which helps out high HP tanks more than other classes. In the end, both systems are seniority-based and need based, but it's more likely an item would go to whomever could use it -most-.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 15 2001 at 7:41 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) with the dex and agility being 2 of the 3 stats on it, and with its name, its obviously for rogues. Besides you good for nothing monks dont deserve another item. :P
#Anonymous, Posted: May 15 2001 at 7:10 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) THIS IS A ITEM FOR NECROS , NICE AC AND THE SAVES.

No this is not part of the running joke...this would actually be a very very good monk item...that AC is nuts for the weight, and those saves and + stats! nice. come to think of it, nice for just about everyone, although plate classes could find better AC
#REDACTED, Posted: May 15 2001 at 2:34 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) shut the hell up about all this nice monk item, almost on every new item a monk can use people always say "wow nice monk item" monks get enough nice items and i think we can all see its a "nice monk item"
#Anonymous, Posted: May 16 2001 at 5:29 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Did you only read his subject? If you bothered to read his post you'd see he isn't some n00b monk who sees a low wieght/high ac item and screams GREAT FOR MONK... he even joked about it. Pipe down there rub-a-dub, theres no need to ***** this guy out...
RE: nice monk item ;)

Yes this is nice for everyone, and as far as I can see it has the best AC of any face item, plate wearing classes included.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 14 2001 at 11:10 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Was about to say...you don't see too many face items with AC (let alone nice saves) like this.
Bah!
# May 14 2001 at 7:47 PM Rating: Default
Come on, it's an ancient pirate! prolly is too old to fight now =P
