THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST MONK ITEMS OUT THERE, BAR NONE. 40 AC isnt enough it has some nice stats too. The closest a monk can go to 40 AC is 28 AC (Flayed Paebola Tunic) 12 AC makes a pretty big difference (Raw AC). 0 Weight, need I say more? Stats arent that uber but who cares when you have this? Monks, band together and storm ToV! We MUST get this tunic!

A nice enchanter item. It's also a rather nice monk item. So like...whichever of the enchanters and monks have the most merit or whatever =)

Posted: May 15 2001 at 10:11 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i have to disagree. personally my main (a SK) would love this. i have been struggeling to get my 4 top stats (sta,str,agi, and dex) all up to above 100 yet my dex commonly lages behind. my current bp is crusty and gives 15sta and like 7str with MINUS dex and only 18ac. this is 40ac and 20dex!!!! plus the 10sta stops my stta from fallin to low the 2 resist supplement its useful ness. but hwta do i know i am a ignorant newbie lvl 25 troll SK. and wanna know what rly sux? it proboly has gay leather look. one reason why hate being most classes is b/c the best armor (usualy leather for monks) looks gayer than hell. oh well i am stupid anyhow,

yes but face it if your fooling around in veeshan you have got either your POG BP or one of the vellious quest BP's making this item kinda un neeeded

Dis be one gud BP! why waste it on Monkies. Although if me was in group wit Rogue, me say rogue gets, but not monkies, dem can rolls against me! Dis not just Monk bp, dis everybody BP, and aboves all, Rogue can ditch lotsa dex stuff for udda stuff if him wore dis, not ta mention, dat me a warrior would love da added dex and ac and STA! So me says, shush! Dis not monk only item, but to be fares in groups, all melee types should roll for it just as all caster types roll for da int/wis stuffs!

The item is a monk one. Period. Everyone should know that Verant put all all items ... for monks. No good one monk use his class armor as base armor, just some parts ( shiverback is called Shivercrap ). Let this matter apart .. and lets concentrate on the place hehe.

I think he drops it, but I haven't seen it first hand. He's early in the north wing, can be pulled outside of it.

Only question I have is, who is the bigger whiner? The people who say this is "Monk Only" or the people who are saying "ALL/ALL means ALL/ALL!".
Verant made this item so it could be worn by anybody. And yes I believe that anybody should be allowed to roll on this. But, if you are rolling against a monk on this, especially if that monk is the PULLER, then you deserve to have your account hacked and destroyed. I would also wager that you have never been on a raid of any kind.
Verant puts in the ability, but it's up to everyone else to use their discretion as to who gets this item. And whoever said their Necro tanks and deals out MASSIVE damage tanking...you are 1 of 2 things...A Liar (Which I'm betting)...or a fool (Which I won't count out). If you are still tanking as a Necro, that makes you...hmmmmm...level 12...13? If thats the case why are you commenting on an item of this level?
I think Verant puts this item in as a way for people to judge each other. Personally, if an INT caster rolled on this against a monk, I would never invite them again. I would never group with them, and I would do everything in my power to make them hated among all educated people on my server.

Bummer that the monk will have have some competition for an item but tough ****. And lil crybaby that wants to turn all of eq against a caster thats wants fair roll on this item STFU +dex helps with channeling which if you didnt know lower interupts on casting. My gawd you people are idiots. You see a low weight item and scream MONK MONK.. Wake up there are other classes that depend on higher stats as well...

Posted: May 15 2001 at 8:23 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i agree that this is a monk item first but...... there is a item that is clearly a chanter item and yet the monks on every server still roll on it as an equal the item is called crown of king tranix y es its ac13 20 save on magic but it has 15 cha the most important stat of a chanter .most times that a chanter fails isnt from OOM its from mez resists that end up with the chanter being wiped out the head peice is a nice monk peice but you can get a crown of froglok kings ac12 20 save on fire and cold with the same weight. ive seen 10 crowns in 6 hours drop while camping the king in guk but yet ive only seen 6 tranix crowns in my entire history of naggy raids well over 100 all but 1 of those 6 were won by a monk over the chanter 2 of the monks actualy had the crown for sail less then 2 days after they won it because they knew they could get 20k+ for it and go get a guk crown easy

How about you try to tash, cripple, and slow the wyverns that you get before Ikatiar the Venom, and then tell me that you couldn't use this.

I agree 100 percent. Tashania well taunt a mob that has 50 k hitpoints better then any damage a monk can dish out. AC and hit points are very important for high level enchanters. Monks take a lot of abuse as pullers, but before you say that this should be a monk only loto, think about how much abuse the enchanter takes, casting those debuffs that alow the battle to be won.

Posted: May 14 2001 at 3:57 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Any non-monk melees raiding this deep into ToV would clearly have better BPs then this and even if they didnt, the fact that a slew of better BPs exist for them while this is likely one of, if not the best monk tunic in the game would prevent them from rolling on it. Remember, this drops in uber guild only territory so insisting on rolling against a monk for this would mean you were basically trying to ***** over a fellow guildmate... in short it just plain wouldnt happen.

If you are in ToV and your guild is rolling on items, then that is pretty frigging lame. The bottom line is if the item can be worn by a person who helped kill the mob they should be allowed to roll on it. Unless its a guild raid for specific reasons. Everyone has the right to decide what they will wear. It should not be decided by what class it will benefit the most. Maybe just tanks should go kill the mob then have no casters present. Would make it very hard for the tanks to ever get this good stuff dont you think?
Actually, beyond buffing and healing classes, it's all about warriors and rogues for high level mobs.

Actually, rogues have the one of the least dmg outputs on most of the mobs in ToV.. Not being able to get behind them makes it very hard to backstab
Try to control the position of the mobs so you don't shove them into a wall. That makes it more difficult for your rogues to backstab.

Rangers may be weak (although yes dealing tons of dmg) on average a ranger of equall lvl to a monk would have more ac... Its logic, think about this: Would magical chain metal give less ac then magical cloth? I don't think so, and do rangers have a 32-36ac or so bp that drops off trak that they could easily have by the time they could get this? yes, would a monk? no... Bottom line is without Velious Rangers easily top Monks in AC items, and -although there are alot of high ac monk usable items in Vel- even on Velious those high AC monk items come no where near being as guild easy atainable (sp?).

Are you outta your mind! Monks blow rangers outta the water in the AC department. My 56 Monk has at least 100 over even uber rangers and 200 pts over most. You forget we get natural ac modifiers and we use the ac of an item better. For an ac5 item i actually get 8ac.

Hmmm....Just stating the obious here.
Granted...this is a great monk item. But lets just say for argument, that the rangers on the raid does not have the Kael quest armor (and yes it is not that unlikely since the quest-bp drop from ToV is hard to get). That would probably leave the toytank with a less than ac 40 bp.
Now look at this BP....weight 0,0. Lets face it! We woodie ranger are most likely the weakest melee in all of Norrath so what doesn't burden us is a blessing.
10 stam. Hey the more HP for the ranger the less...."Awww the ranger died again!" (hehehe I even see it as my duty to die instead of the chanter when the sucky warriors can't taunt off the mobs beating on the frail ones. Rangers = UBER taunters).
The best part...20 dex! Wow that is awesome! And dex does increase dmg and hit with a bow. I have done 147 dmg with a 20 pts dmg Huntmansbow with shammy buffs and have lot less max without the buff (and imagine what I can do when I get the trueshot disc.) So the higher dex for the ranger the better for the guild as whole.
And the saves on this will always come in handy as an extra bonus.
So....at (lets for arguments sake take the lvl attained stated here) 55 ye would most likely sse the monk have and inate AC of around 1100 give or take a few. Where the ranger most likely (if lucky) would have a base AC of around 930.
So who would be in need of this the most?
And with all that said...I would consider it as a high bonus if I got the BP since I could perfectly understand why it otherwise would go to a monk first.

Rangers have the possibility to get the kael or any of the velious quest armors. Monks have nothing that even comes close to matching the numbers on this piece

This is one of the only forum's that is still under the misconseption that dex effects anything other than skill gains and proc rates. I believe this argument was over long ago (like 5 months atleast) with an official post stating what all the different stats did

Last I checked Verant declined to say if any stat added to channelling for regaining concentration. This isn't numerically backed, and I could be way off, but when im wearing dex boosting gear (kunzar cloak, split paw gloves, etc., instead of braided ivy cords, es gauntlets, etc.,) I regain concentration a higher percentage of the time on similar spells (mostly heals, dots, occasional evac.) ac is only 3 points different, but dex goes up 14 points to 126. My skills sure as hell aren't getting any better ever again, so its still my opinion that dex helps casters cast. Ive tried charisma, agility, stamina and strength, my wisdom stays just over 200 if buffed, and i always have gear to keep it high 190's if not buffed (usually 200) charisma does seem to help charm a little, but aside from wis, dex is the only one that seems to do anything for me.

Ok as an enchanter AC isn't that important to me; its nice but if something big gets ahold of me(i.e. Velk, CT, wurms and drakes in ToV) 25ac is going to do what? So instead of takeing 600 a hit I take 580? Sweet now with 2400hp I can last 5 hits instead of 4...thats another second to watch myself die. I would never even consider rolling on this, monks gain so much more than any other class...ac and weight awesome and the dex is good too.
