I would just like to say that buying your own equipment is the same as getting your own equipment. My Bard is in very good equipment and he either camped or bought everything he has. My first set of plate armor was pre-planar. Pre-quest. Pre expansion packs. And I bought it all from the merchant. There where only a few people on the server with comparable gear at level 20. And I feel that I earned it. Got it for myself.

I was in NFP a shammy came in selling these boots for 2k, the vambraces at 3k and a smoldering brand for 300pp. Bought the boots. Nice upgrade from my kobald my 30 ranger had been wearing. he died alot getting Hq lion skins for fleeting quivers, he deserved to enjoy the fruits of his labor.

I picked a pair ofthese up for 1.6k in gfay (povar) the other day. Gives about 10-11 more ac than DWBS (32 ranger).Im pretty sure the guy was wantin quick cash for em though...i think 1.6k is kinda cheap for em...

Not a bad item, but get barbed dragonscale boots instead

While you're hunting there, you'll probably get a dragon head or two, which can either be traded in for a frostbringer or boots (or the mediocre cloak and awful shoulders). Much nicer than these. Just remember to get your Tormax faction up when you decide to start wasting dragons. :)
Twink?

I don't consider buying equipment you can use as being a twink. A twink is a a) a secondary character that you yourself outfitted from what you have collected over the months or years you have played your primary, or b) Joining a guild that basically outfits you with stuff you yourself could never get on your own. Making money through whatever means you can and spending said money to outfit yourself is NOT being a twink....it's being smart. Btw, twinking is a part of the game, always has been and always will be. If you are too high brow to accept twinks in your group/raids/whatever then maybe you need to consider playing the single player Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale series

#Anonymous, Posted: May 11 2001 at 6:37 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) See how oftain I post here? Stupid thing kept saying posting is not allowed or some ****, and you got me all mad and I spammed you all.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 11 2001 at 6:32 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Bah, it's no wonder I don't read any of these posts. Everytime I do there's atleast one with some sort of monk flame (from a paladain no yet haahaha). Too funny that all these noobs posting all these stupid things about rolling on ST or ToV stuff, like there's ever going to be a "public" raid there where everyone's going to have an everyone in roll session on the all/all stuff. I've been to North Wing ToV (not sleeper yet oh boy can't wait!) everything that dropped was already predecided who's getting what, and if something new drops everyone's told the stats, and everyone decides who should get it. I really really wish everyone would shut up and quit spamming all these boards with useless bickering and arguing and flaming monks for their total lack of extremely good equipment(and they do have a total lack of really good equipment I'm wearing Azure Sleeves at level 60). Don't like monks don't group with them, just STFU, and don't spam the boards with useless crap like that.

#Anonymous, Posted: May 11 2001 at 6:24 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) All these things that my ranger can wear and that are GREAT!! The kind of stats i'm looking for! Now I just need to get high enough to get them!
#REDACTED, Posted: May 11 2001 at 4:19 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Nice low weight, not a BAD pair of boots, as such. And no Monk can wear it. I estimate no more than 24 hours before SOMEone has some rubbish to say about that. ;)
#Anonymous, Posted: May 11 2001 at 7:00 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Get your info straight. While this stats would be pretty good for Monks, that weight alone would all but exclude us from wearing it. I'm runnin' around in an LJ vest at 27 & the 1.5 on that is really starting to rub me raw, let alone something that's 2.5 stones. If a monk starts ranting 7 raving about anything over 1 stone they might need to reconsider playing the class. and I can hear already the comments of "well if they changed the weight...". They won't so no need to stress over it.

Druids can't wear it either (but Rogues, Rangers, and Shamans can,) so clearly it fits into the "chain" class of armor, even if the armor itself isn't made out of chain. Monks can only wear up to leather, usually.

Besides, 2.5 is a bit too much to be putting on one's feet, a fairly low priority area. 2.5 might, *might* be okay for a vest or leggings, which are fairly important, but if you're willing to go over a stone for every location, soon you're ending up with over 20 weight.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 12 2001 at 10:22 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You sissy. Weight hardly affects you till lvl 35 or so. Hell, at 40, i still have total weight of like 40, and have more ac than most other monks heh.

I disagree. 2.5, while not ideal for monks, is VERY wearable. Because of the weight cap increases every 15 levels, by the time you can get this (45 ish) you have an extra 3 lbs (or stone or whatever you want to call it) to play with as a "freebie". I know my 43 monk would wear these without hesitation, and I would still be under the weight cap =)

But alas, this is not monk wearable. So it is kind of a moot point, anyway.

I think he meant by the time you could afford to buy the boots...

Also, a balanced group that is 50+ can do WW without too much trouble... I've seen it done.

Number one moron not everyone wants to buy all their equipment. Some people actually like to earn what they wear. For those of you who joined a guild right away and got twinked right off the bat and have never played a character that wasn't twinked will never know the personal pride some of us have in getting all of our own equipment. Don't look down on someone just because they don't want to twink their own character. Try to play a charaaaacter for once and earn everthing that character has without buying or getting stuff from others and make this smart allecky comment. I bet you wouldn't.
Try to look at things from other people's point of view before casting your stones. But you better be careful you just might be standing in a glass house.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 13 2001 at 2:50 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I am currently a level 40 monk of Prexus, and I earned all my stuff, but he does suck! I had a foremans tunic at level 18! Buying it IS earining it goddamnit, if you earn the moeny yourself that is. Virtually everything I have except my cured silk cloak and mantle I earned my goddmaned self thruogh merchant-like street robbingly good trades. Hell, I got a SotDB, Trance Stick, KD, T Staff, and Fungi Tunic for a TBB ;P...Haha! I R0X0R! You all S0X0R!! I ish uber!...I love my T-Staff, but I find myself using my 1hb's a bit more at 40
Newbie?

Um.. hate to be the one who states the obvious but this is *designed* to be a vital economy. You are *supposed* to be able to earn plats to purchase items you would otherwise not be able to achieve. I have as much or more pride in items I have purchased with monies from my trade skills as those I looted and quested myself.
