Any INT caster would be lucky to get this. I have this on my chanter main and I love it. It makes Glamour of Kintaz last 64.8 seconds instead of 54 seconds.

Bah, what about Necros =P

Hey chuck

Btw, this is the only item so far that has extended affliction 3 that has int on it. So while it is nice for SK because of the ac, it should go to the Necro. Sorry guys.
RE: gimp item
# Jul 19 2002 at 1:19 PM Rating: Excellent
I wouldn't say it's necro-only. From a SK's point of view, the nice part about this is the extended affliction III - our snares last longer, as do the other DOTs we don't really ever use. The big thing is snaring. Okay, fine. When a necro's grouped, unless he's someplace like CT, mobs are going to be dropping so fast he'll likely only get off a snare and one other dot, and even then, the dots don't get much of a chance to run. So, again, this will mostly affect their snare. Shamen. Okay, in groups they'll most likely have time to right-click the old epic after slowing the mob, I really doubt they'll have the mana left to toss Pox or something. So that's a single DOT from them now. Druids. Epic snare and nukes, haven't seen a druid use other DOTs in exp groups in a long time unless it's a free right-click.

In my opinion, using a group example, it could go to anyone. I would lean away from SKs, since I'd prefer to wear a Bracer of Benevolence or a cultural bracer with the better assortment of hps and resists, and I have so much many running that recasting snares isn't a problem, or I could just wait to cast them until later in a fight and not use them for aggroing.

Raid setting. This will vary immensely. The difference between what spells are gonna be thrown when chain-pulling in PoH (and vary again if groups are acting well-organized and assisting due to time / level constraints, or killing 5 mobs at once trying to KS each other...) to try to grab epic pieces versus chain-pulling in HoT to try to grab armor pieces...

Okay. Soloing. A SK. Uhh... again, only spell I use is snare, and I usually don't even bother. Completely useless soloing in VL, useless 1/2 the time in FG (and the runner shrooms don't go all that far towards other shrooms in my preferred pull spots) and not all that useful soloing from entrance to castle to exit in Chardok... there, I just use engulf near the end, and that's only if I can actually see a mob closeby that would add. Necros. Bajillions of dots, they chuck all of those in fights... extremely useful. Shamen. Let's say they're slow+pet+epic+random_effective_DoT_01`ing the mobs. Okay, the effect is churning for their spear and, let's say, Pox. Lot more useful for them than, say, a SK. Not as much as a necro. Druids. Bah, let them go quadkite. =) Seriously though, druids at 60 blast stuff quadkiting when solo a lot more than anything else, the epic is used to snare the mobs and that DoT is running, but...

For solo I'd really have to go for the necro.

Factor in the INT, hp and mana boosts, plus the random resists, this is probably best suited on a necromancer. Of course, all the people wouldn't mind the AC/resists/hp/mana, but... my ranking would be as follows:

Necromancer > Shaman > Shadowknight = Druid.

It's much more effective for a Necromancer or Shaman, I'd personally go for Necromancer just because they utilize dots more than shamen, although this is a matter of perspective and I can see this being argued for shamen over necromancers, despite the INT being useless. I mean, really, if you're high enough to get this, the INT and WIS caps are really almost meaningless. Not in all cases, but...

SK vs. Druid... I put them weighted equally. Why? It's really only going to be affecting their snares. Druids can't use the int boost, and as a SK the bracer's stats really aren't that different from a cultural in terms of AC/hp/resists, which are all that matter to me. In terms of pure HP and resists, especially the hp, like I said before Bracer of Benevolence has more than this thing. Sure, it's a nice toy, and I'm sure most SKs would trade off a cultural bracer or benevolence to have this on one bracer slot... but it's not fair to a necromancer or shaman.

And, on a side note, if you really want Extended Affliction III... the Bone Clasped Girdle off Dracholiche has the same effect, and is usable by all priests and pure int casters. It's only 4 AC, but it has, above all else, 75hp/mana. Okay, sure, no int bonus... but 75hp/mana. A necro would want that over a pure int bonus. Int caps. +Mana and +HP don't.

Should this affect your decision about giving this to a SK? I really don't know. Dracholiche doesn't drop it every time, it's a 5-day spawn (I think...), people might kill him every other time they go up for golems (i.e. he's up for 1 kill, misses next, and is up for a day before people come back for golems and see him again). In my opinion this shouldn't affect your decision on how you're going to distribute this... obviously people with extended affliction III would be out of the lotto for this. Yeah, I said lotto. Don't know what else to call it. Pool-of-people-being-considered-for-award-purposes-slash-being-asked-to-roll-against-other-selected-individuals. Or, if you're using DKPs instead of a looser merit system, people with an extended affliction III not be allowed to use their points on this bracer.

That's quite enough about that, though. I'm sure other raid leaders can figure out how they want to deal with this on their own. I'm just saying how I personally would deal with it. Yeah, I do agree ultimately with the warrior above me, It should go to a necromancer over a SK, I hope I've covered enough issues about this that we can avoid a little war on the boards about why this should go to class xyz versus whoever. It's ultimately useful to the 4 classes I mentioned, in that order... and... in my opinion. Everyone has an opinion on something, but at least I provided some backing for mine. Hope this helps at least clear up some board spam.

I agree with what your saying being a 50 shadowknight i love this for my Snare and invoke fear for soloing in plane of justice but i disagree on order a littler i say
Necro-->Enchanter-->Shaman--->ME ME ME--> then who cares about the druidsd any ways haha..
Necro's i say first dibs just case in point they don't get much uber gear in the first place second they dont get as much int gear say as i do. Then Enchanter the effect is the only reason they are 2 because have been in a few TD(top dogs in velk) groups were the enchanters mez wore off at just the wrong time and if had just 1 min more might of not got wiped out... and i know any one that hunts in high end zones uses or wants to have an enchanter to mezz mad adds.. then shaman because they cast a lot more then me and need the int boost as well then SK because we rock anyways we need resist for pulling and tanking duties +10 int help out with my problem with mana depleating so damn fast and the last and least to me Druids they just can cry about this cuz i dont think they deserve it any ways they just get enough good stuff and this is not another item i want them grabbing on to.

Khaguk, you make some good points, but you make a few errors due to (my guess) inexperience.

As a high-game shammy, it is true that I do not always cast more than one dot during a fight in an exp group. I usually use Ebolt or Bane of Nife once I have Slowed the mob. Why? Pox takes too long (and too much mana) for grouping, BoN is great, but too much aggro. I have a hard time keeping mobs off me already, but if I have a really good tank then I can slow, epic, BoN, AND Ebolt instead of just doing crappy nukes or just melee. Mana isn't a problem for me. Aggro is.

Soloing: when I left the old-world (for PoP), I left my pet behind <sniff!>. I've been soloing things like the golems in PoV since I was 60th level. These mobs can do half of MY hitpoints in one round of melee, plus they can often stun: Dogdog's gonna DIE. So instead I rely on Root + 5 dots to take 'em down (Epic, Pox, Plague, Bon, Ebolt, in that order). And I have to cast POX on them at least twice, sometimes up to four or five times or so for the larger mobs, depending on how quickly I can get the poison dots on them after they wear off (as I'm usually busy getting mana or re-rooting). And I HAVE Extended Affliction 3 now (Coldian Military Wristguard) - so for a lesser shammy they are going to be casting even MORE dots, as theirs won't last as long.

I imagine things are pretty much the same for a necro.

Raiding: DoTs help a lot vs a good number of raid-scale mobs. A great example of a mob where this focus helps me is Dozekar the Cursed in ToV(HoT). Doze isn't the biggest or hardest mob in the game, but he's still a big step for a lot of guilds and he drops some kraaaazy-nice quest-loot. Doze isn't all that hard - IF he's slowed. Of course, when a guild is first fighting him, they aren't going to have the DPS to take him down before slow wears off - so they are going to need their shammies casting DoTs to help out. Keep in mind that I DON'T want to get aggro, so I don't want to chain-cast ANYTHING if I don't have to, and the more time I can spend hiding from his AoE is more time that I don't have to keep clicking my stupid insta-cast item (a telescope ;-p), which means I can swap spells out (which I can't do if I'm holding the bag the scope goes in, heh). So the longer DoTs last, the longer SLOW lasts, the more damage I can do with DoTs, and the less aggro I'll get from casting them, and the less 'damage' I'll take (from Aggro or from AoE). Plus, if slow DOES wear off and I'm already high on the aggro list, recasting slow is NOT a fun thing to do (remember that nobody but me and the main assist know exactly when slow wears off!)- I've seen a raid wipe when slow wore off.

So there is my point of view - this is my opinion, based on in-game experience as well as a ton of time spent reading Alla's. Please note that I'm NOT saying that such-and-such item is best for so-and-so : most high end items are great for ANYONE who can wear them. Get enough for EVERYONE if you want, but you're not getting them ALONE.

(Oh, and one more thing: Mr. Necro (whose name I cannot see atm) who stated that this is a 'necro' item as opposed to a SK item because it is the only item with INT and this focus on it:
1. SK and Necro BOTH use INT <sigh>;
2. There are only TWO items with this focus that a shammy can use, I'd imagine there isn't a great selection for ANYBODY;
3. Why am I, a SHAMAN, looking at 'the only EA3 focus with INT on it'? Because if you are DEAD it does NOT MATTER how well-geared your CORPSE is or how much mana you HAD left. True, I'd lose 6 wisdom by 'upgrading' to this, but I'd also gain 15 AC, 5x2saves, 35hp/mana. And when it drops, it's not gonna be in a pickup group or (most likely) a random-roll situation: it's my points vs yours, good luck to all, see-you-here-again-when-this-*******-respawns.)

Anywho, that's my take, do with it what you will (and I hope you read it all! hah). If you like it, rate it!

AND REMEMBER: ALL matters of a difference of opinion can be settled in THE ARENA!

This shouldnt go to a sk due to the fact that sk's relie on melee. As a druid I would love this, but when it drops and we are asked to send tells for it I would /tell I would like that if no chanters want it

This gets pretty old, Items that one one stat don't have the opposing stat all the time ok? Its not like this is anything new.

My cleric or druid(especially..)would take this over any wis bracer anyday anyway since all I know of have lower AC. At the level you get this you are not begging for wis. The 25 hp 25 mana and 9 save magic and fire will do you one heck of a lot more good than even 9 wis on a bracer.
RE: Because it has no wis
# Jan 03 2002 at 10:20 AM Rating: Decent
You'd take this over the Templar bracers? Odd. I'd leave this one to the SKs or pure int casters. Besides, Wis over 200 is now 6pts per so even if that 9wis bracer shoots you over 200, that's still 9x6 more mana.
# Jan 01 2002 at 7:58 PM Rating: Decent
why does ppl always argue over who should get a piece of gear that the vast majority of us will never see? sure some casters would love this, and some monks, hell a tank would drool if his current bracer was only ac24. As a bard Id jump up and down for it.. 25ac extra hps 25 mana for extra charm (not that ya charm much by time lvl to get this) oooo some resist.. and the top off look at that sta,,, at lvl 51 as a woodelf bard I fight at max game haste, with 2 10/18 weaps and since my sta is 67 Im always exhuasted. Id beg, cry, plead to get this; BUT Im not gonna say its bard only....

Come on! Just because something it light it doesn't mean its a monk item automatically. WHAT BS! Been reading such comments all through this site over high end light weight all/all equipment.

If any of you mental giants haven't noticed, as you move up in levels most of the stuff gets lighter. Since this comes from a boss mob in a very high level dungeon, of course its light.

It should go to whomever needs the thing the most and won't stick it in the bank the next day because they like something else more in that slot.

I'm not real sure about current strategies on killing in ToV, but there is a high level guild on my server that does ToV every single day. Heck prolly same guild that posts all these items, I cant see the pictures on this screen so I can't tell if it has a guild tag.

You are correct. Fires of Heaven is the uber guild on Veeshan server that has the means to dominate most zones and run rampant. Many of the items, information and strategies come from what they find, where and from whom they found it, and what tactics worked for them.

When I saw this subject I thought it had to be a spoof. I mean there's a monk post on just about every item so I figured someone was being silly - but no it's serious!

Any caster would be more than happy to get an ac22 item on their wrist, but add 7int, 25mana, 25hp and resists and they'll be gagging for it.

If you are unaware of how much encs get hit at all levels, or that wiz/mages get hit using ae tactics needed in some raids then you still have alot to learn!

Okay first lol. You obviously know nothin of high level casters monk boy. I personaly don't care for mana items as i already have well over 3000 mana. The only things i go for now is AC/hp. With my mage at 60 i can almost break 1000 AC and 2500 hp self buffed, heck with aego i could be a tank =P. I'd wear this bracer any day. Not to mention resists don't hurt at all.
Once a caster gets 200 int, they want AC/HP.

You can go beyond 200, to 255, you always could, but the returns for mana beyond 200 int is something around 1 mana per 1 int... or 1.5 mana per 1 int at 60, but its very low.

And it has infact been stated, multiple times, by absor and abashi that the int/wis cap was not raised in either expansion.

RE: in reply to the first one ^
# May 08 2001 at 8:46 PM Rating: Default
INT/WIS over 200 does yield a hugely small amount of mana.... HOWEVER!

While with 200 WIS on a cleric, you may have at level 50 (random number) 2000 mana, let's say that each WIS point after gives only 5 instead of 10 mana.... you've got 55 more WIS points till cap. That means, basically, you'll get another... (275? Brain's half dead) mana points. Now, in addition to this... each WIS/INT point after 200 makes it MUCH harder for a mob to resist your spells.
RE: in reply to the first one ^
# Jan 01 2002 at 11:02 AM Rating: Decent
uh, wheter int/wis over 200 does yield that much mana or not doesnt matter...
fact is that you want to accumulate as much int as you can in one slot, so you free up others for resist/hp/mana gear.
