Attack Damage
# Aug 23 2004 at 3:23 PM Rating: Decent
I have this weapon on my 65 cleric and its not really for damage. Its great for interrupting casters and using your shield to bash. I maxed 1HB really fast, I was 45 skill, now max. That went up super fast. Bash now maxed too. The real benefit is now with my 75 mana stun and this with shield I can effectively interrupt that healer in the back until the group catches up to me. I was thinking of putting the LDON augment 75point lifetap in this for some nice crit procs. Hits at lightspeed with chanter haste. Makes your tanks nervous but you hit for about 15hp, so its almost no aggro strikes. STUN BABY YAHHH !!!
Rocks

I am a 65 shaman with my epic and I was happy to receive this item. It hasn't the "status" of the epic but it is twice the weap for resists and the 20 AC is huge! Epic has zero AC. I am saddened that there hasn't been an upgrade to the Shammy epic.

Two of these dropped off a named dragon in north TOV named jorleag I think it was called or something real close, as it was the first time this dragon had been killed by my guild Wraith on the server me and a shaman recieved those. It does rock, I don't have my epic yet but this is much better IMO. Also the delay is wrong, my weapon has 16dly and 7dmg.

One of the dragons in the Northeast side of the Temple. If you were strong enough to clear some of the dragons before him, he shouldn't give you too much trouble.
all 3 should roll
# Jun 09 2001 at 11:17 AM Rating: Default
I play 59 druid, 56 cleric and 50 shaman. I would say it would be good for any of those 3 classes that didn't have their epic. I don't think any of the classes have any higher need of the item than the other. If you are any of these classes and you are melee on a dragon (unless DA taunt for a few seconds) you are letting your raid and team down. This item is great for the resists period. the wis mana nice, but i would opt to wear epic over this cause the 200 plus extra mana on epic would outweigh the plus 10 resist of this over epic. I can get those 10 resists elsewhere (speaking as a cleric). Bottom line is if it is a lot better than what you have, and you are no where near your epic, roll if you are any of the 3 classes.

200+ extra mana? Cleric epic is 25 wis 100 mana, or an extra 10 and 25. Even if you were somehow under 200 in NToV, that 10 wis = 120 mana on level 60, for a net of 145.
Cleric epic also has zero HP on it, just 10 stamina for an effective 30. The resists are half what this has. This is a good post-epic item for any of those 3 classes, although clerics *may* consider trying to hold off for a blackstar off Cekenar instead. (I've yet to see him drop one though.)

Also good for those with their epic

Look at those resists: +20 to EVERYTHING. I know if I had my epic on my druid, I'd swap it out for this for a raid.

Assuming I ever get that high-level, of course...
Amazing

It never ceases to amaze me how often discussions like this degenerate into arguments <sigh> between people who like to boast about how much more they know about EQ than others.

Somewhere back there, a weapon was involved in all that discussion about "who does the evac". Anyone know what mob(s) drop(s) the weapon?
What and who?

Slowing dragons
# May 10 2001 at 1:48 PM Rating: Default
This is indeed a very nice weapon.. And sometimes as a shaman i have to get into meelee..

But i know 3 shaman who unfortunately became targets of the dragon in question till they died.. (short period) because they successfully slowed a dragon.
also shaman do have to go meelee occationaly and with this shaman (an old one with max skills in all his combat able skills.. (pretty pethetic trust me) does deal out damage equal to about half to 3/4ths the local tank..It is a valid weapon for the 3 classes.. as it also helps to whittle down the mobs faster and thus have to heal or debuff less. you have a 260 str 245 agil 240 dex and not do anything with it some time.
(yes my barb shami can get that high)
RE: Slowing dragons
# Jul 14 2004 at 11:10 AM Rating: Default
My barb shaman could max out all his melee skills at 49 (IoS + Stat buffs). Now at 65 I can easily max out stats with just Ferine, Voice, and Wrulan. I have not found my DPS with melee to be any better w/ stats buffs than w/o.

#Anonymous, Posted: May 07 2001 at 5:21 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i think verant is trying to make our healers go kamikaze or somthin. the dam/del on this weapon is 7/16 (CF's change monky fists to 9/16) thats only 2 less attack. could you imagine standing there with this weapon and healing the whole time? ***** that, i'd shout for haste and go crack some skulls :)
#Anonymous, Posted: May 06 2001 at 11:55 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Not to open a new wound there bud, but I would rather have a wizzie do the post raid evacing, I would say at least 50% of the melee classes on the raids I have been on are bound somewhere to close where they like to hunt. Translocation helps sooo much. Not that I don't see plenty of Druids on raids, but due to the population by class and desirablity of the spell lines, I don't hear "anyone know a druid" all that often when looking for replacement raiders.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 06 2001 at 12:08 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) WTF people SOMETIME that damn cleric will be out of mana with all those rezzes. Who gets a 980hp heal and Group Skin Like Nature = +24 ac +450 hp +6 regen + clarity 1. Druids With the lvl 50+ spells druids become a must for backup. And who better to evac everyone when the raid is over??
#Anonymous, Posted: May 09 2001 at 11:03 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Do you even have a clue what you're talking about? Skin like nature is 250hp, 2hp per tick regen, and NO clarity... as if they'd give druids the ability to clarity.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 11 2001 at 6:40 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) GROUP skin like nature, check it out it's a high level druid spell and he is correct in that it gives clarity.

*Ahem*

It's more like Group Natureskin. The spell name is Protection of the Glades. It's also one of the most expensive spells in the game at 1200 mana.

#Anonymous, Posted: May 04 2001 at 3:23 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I'm seeing a lot of talk here about druids. First of all you'd be lucky to see 1 druid on a ToV raid. They're good for buffs and healing a cleric in a pinch but nothing else. Same for shamans, although they can slow certain mobs (never a dragon, laf). Don't post unless you've actually been on high level dragon raids and really know what you're talking about. No druid is ever gonna see one of these unless they're inspecting a cleric.

Eh, those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Anyone that's been that deep in ToV (which is just a handful of players on Veeshan server), can tell you have NO idea what deep ToV is like. Heh.

This'll probably wind up with more druids than you think. Most shamans and clerics have their epics, while druids are more just now catching up since the VS/faydedar changes. Either go to someone with seniority that wants resist gear, or will go to an epicless person (who more than likely is a druid).
RE: Newbie
# Jul 14 2004 at 11:14 AM Rating: Default
I was under the impression that the druid epic was one of the easiest ones out there? *shrug* As an epicced shm I would LOVE this wep, and actually most 60+ shms i know (not 'uber' ones) do not have their epics. This wep is far better than the epic (except for Curse of the Spirits).
RE: Newbie
# Dec 17 2005 at 7:27 PM Rating: Decent
Yeah, three years after that post was made. :p

Actually, the Druid epic was changed right around that time. Venril Sathir and Feydedar, before the change, were remarkably hard to get - one week spawns that guilds killed for loot.

They then made the mobs triggerable, which flooded the servers with them. =/

Whoever made the post above mine is a player that knows their stuff. ;)

I am a Druid. I had the 3rd Sprinkler of the Spirits in EQ. The first two went to Leliril and Nino, a Druid and Cleric, respectively.

Clerics almost all have Epics, as do our SHM. Actually, the one that dropped tonight was the first to go to a Shaman on Veeshan. Clerics get Blackstar from ToV, which is arguably better (20/25, STA, but 5 less on the resists), where-as our Shamen are usually dead before resists matter. >;)

Good resist gear over an epic, but no +hp, which would have been a huge help in surviving the AEs that doubtless you'll be equipping this as defense again. More difficult to get than the epics, you'd think it would be a notch above.

Not bad.
# May 04 2001 at 8:03 AM Rating: Default
Stats are better than epics, but it's much, much harder to aquire. I could definitely see clerics using this for the stats, and keeping their epic on them just for the effect.
Raids
# May 04 2001 at 7:32 AM Rating: Excellent
there is one thing i have used each time i have gone to Hate or fear and it is very simple. you DO NOT Evac. Shamen and Druids are the main healers on Raids when you get a very bad pull we heal while the Cleric gets camped so they can come back and rez. once your in the Plane you either Die or Die on a bad pull.
RE: Raids
# May 10 2001 at 1:58 PM Rating: Default
That is so true. A great tactic.. and even tho as a shaman ill be toast.. i know if the cleric makes it to camp .. I wont be toast for long.

Useless during raids?
# May 04 2001 at 5:38 AM Rating: Default

Umm, this item has better resists than most
of the epics and doesn't trash your wis.
(Yes, I fully believe that in uber mob raids
resists are more important than stats.) Being
that I don't have my epic yet I'd definately
like to get my hands on one of these. It sure
beats out my Shillelagh. And BTW whomever posted
that druids evac during a raid needs to actually
go on a raid. Yes, druids CAN evac however we
also can DD, debuff and backup heal. 9 times
out of 10 evac is out of the question during
most raids.

# May 04 2001 at 11:30 AM Rating: Excellent
If you EVAC during a raid not only is it over for you, but I highly doubt they will invite you up again. Everyone dies and you should fight to the death it's as simple as that. EVACing is probly the rudest this you could ever do on a raid.

You DON'T evac on a 'Raid' until it's over. If you go to Hate plane or some other nasty place with 5 or 6 groups, you will probably get killed at some point. You will be rezzed back with very little exp loss. If you gate, the raid is over for you, because otherwise the porter would have to go get you, teleport you back up, and try to get back to the group nested deep within the plane. Both would risk dying again, the raid would have to stop or slow down, all for a very tiny bit of exp.

If you go to the planes EXPECT to die. If it's one group doing lower guk, you might evac to SRo to avoid death and a tough CR. But in a place like Hate, Fear, Dragon Necropolis, etc, you take the death and get your rezz, and should probably never have an evac or gate memmed until you are ready to leave.

This item would be very useful on raids, 12 wis and plus 20 to each res. It frankly rocks.

Aye a good item the resists to keep the support staff alive from AE spells any of these classes would benifit i cant think of alot of primary slot items which would outweigh this

Actually... the logical solution would be, at that lvl, to get in a guild that can do ToV and most that high will be able to quickly get you your epic, then you can join them in ToV for corpse rezzing and the like =P
Its ok
# May 03 2001 at 4:32 PM Rating: Default
Its ok...you'd probably have more of a chance getting your epic then this besides, epic is better. I'd do my epic before I took chances to get into a good guild that can do ToV , I believe its Forbidden area or sumtin, and have other shamans and druids there that have a chance of getting it. or I might just be insane, but I dont think im that insane....

Best part about this weapon is the huge resists...better than on epics I do believe (they are generally 10 to all, I think). Swap out epic for big battles where you need every ounce of resist and wallah, very useful.

Guilds that are getting this are heavy into raiding, and the druid/shm epic are pretty much worthless during raids, and cleric is only useful really afterwards to clean up the mess. Resists will be far more crucial to whomever weilding it during such a raid.

/drool....

Lookit the resists on that thing! Wonder what uber dragon drops that and how rare it is considering all the other things a single mob in the Temple has a chance of dropping.
