JBB a waste?
# Sep 10 2002 at 9:17 PM Rating: Decent
So at lvl 60 mana free 263dd at 8seconds per cast is a waste, so in 16sec's 526dmg, and at 32sec's 1052dmg so on and so forth, even at a noobie lvl of 55 most of my fights last longer then 32 seconds but, they would last much longer with out a JBB please explain why at lvl 60 JBB is not a good peice of armor for a shaman. I am not lvl 60 so I cant say for sure so if you wouldnt mind please let me understand youre reasoning for this. Now I would agree that this may not be youre first choice in raid equipment but, I use mine even in HoT quit effectivly. Just curious, please explain.

Thing to remember is JBB is usable at 45, and drops in a 45-55 level kunark dungeon. For a level 45 shaman, the dd on jbb helps a LOT. At lvl 60, with better dots, better nukes, better canni, you probably won't need or want a JBB any more. You'll also be trying to upgrade every other piece of kunark era gear you're wearing.

At least, unlike most kunark era armors, the JBB actually is still worth something at the point it begins to work.

My cleric, at one point, had a full set of Donals, and rarely if ever used ANY of the effects, except for the BP and legs.

It is really a question of what you could have been doing if you weren't pumping the JBB the whole time.

For example, take a two minute segment of a fight. I drop a Pox of Bertox and a Bane of Nife on the mob, cannibalize the mana back, and drop a torpor on myself. By that time the Bane is about worn off, so I reapply. In the remaining time, I can cann back up and do something else, like maybe drop the epic DoT on the mob. Or what is more likely, interrupts will make just those things take all of two minutes. One Pox and two Banes over two minutes works out to a DPS of about 45 (without burning affliction devices).

On the other hand, if I just pump a JBB for two minutes, I'll land 15 263pt DD nukes, for a DPS of about 33. And that assumes I'm not interrupted at all (unlikely with an 8 second cast), and that I don't have to take the time to heal myself (also unlikely).

A high level shaman can do a lot more damage with his native abilities than he can with the JBB (fortunately, since there should be more to playing a shaman than clicking the JBB). And the disparity get even greater when you get Cann V and the post-60 spells.

So I say, bag the JBB and get a better bracer -- like the Wolf Caller's.

Cheers,
Mumboh (an Iksar shaman who thinks the obsolescence of the JBB is a good thing). :)

If you read his post it states Iksar's > All. I would venture to say it's because he's an Iksar Shaman and can't wear a JJB.Smiley: wink

Ok, personaly, i think this is one of the best SS peices for shaman, 7wis, 16ac decent hp and mana (hp are my major focus) prolly the only SS peice that is better is the arms, or legs

and if your 60, and still WEAR a JBB as a regular peice of gear, you need to re-think things just a tad

btw, iksar>all

The only thing that is good about this item is the 20 hps, ac and wisdom. No resists make it a toss up to use this or a bd bracer for your non-jbb arm.

Still though, higher wisdom than kael wrists and has hps so most shaman would probably rather have this one.

The Halls of Testing in Temple of Veeshan drops the armor components for the quests. High level mobs all over velious drop the quest gems.
