Mages Rock
# Dec 11 2003 at 1:43 PM Rating: Decent
Man I read so many of the posts I had to say my bit..Iv played a mage to the 52nd lvl and I have to say we dont get a very good deal here. Not a single quest have I seen for mage gear been worth the effort..If you need good gear do a little farming ..AND GO BUY IT. The gear you can buy in the bazzar beats all this quest stuff hands down..The robe is durn near impossible to get the parts for and I dont need a 49 lvl DS.. Iv got 1. And for all you Non mages out there ..Start a mage and spend 2 years doing your lvl 49 epic.. then tell me we dont get the short end of the stick...
Quantumfire Novablast lvl 52 mage..Brell.
Mmm!

Awasome boots - Summon bandages? Come on.
bandages
# Jun 13 2001 at 3:02 PM Rating: Default
Anyone know if you have to wear these to use the effect? I don't think I'd bother to get these boots for my magi, but if you don't have to wear 'em, I'd certainly like to get 'em for my monk!

Inquiring monks want to know.
thx useless

nice stats.
***** effects.
thx useless lvl 4 spell that costs 5.. *cough* FIVE F'KING MANA to cast..

I shudder to think of the revolt if f'king druids or clerics got a lvl 4 heal on their hardest quest armor.. why should we shut up? we got shafted up the *** sideways with a telephone pole on the velious armor. if they don't fix this crap you can bet your *** I'm not buying Luclin.. I can see it now!!

Luclin mage quest armor, Effect: Summon Food! UBER!!!
RE: thx useless

That's already happened to druids, but before us and it wasn't a heal. Elder Spirist Gauntlets. Effect: Snare. Verant often times screws up, give them a break. I'm a 54 mage and let me say that the boots are still nice without the effect. I'm not even wearing GEBs and I have 203 INT (Have kobold hide boots) I would LOVE to swap them for these boots, has the +3 to all resists, the stamina, hp, int, and mana. Before you bash something for having one part of it being bad (the triggered effect in this case) look at the entire piece.

dude..... kobold hide?? come on at least get planer boots, some ac, 13agi, little resists, thats what im wearing right now due to a ****** day when i looted my corpse then went ld and lost all my items and the gm's couldnt get em back *sighs* lost my coldain skin booties (which are better than E-Boots imho) so i was forced to use my fear dropped cryosilk, boots arnt bad, just wish the main pieces still dropped, would make fear A WHOLE LOT BETTER FOR CASTERS TO RAID!!!! /smack VI

boot effect
# Apr 24 2001 at 1:27 PM Rating: Decent
Sure monk and warriors love the effect but mages will maybe use this effect once in a month if that and most of the time its from a warrior or monk trying to solo or camp green mobs! Personal i feel the armor quests should benefite the caster...i dont have these Boots or any quest verson or PoG drop but i bet the casting time on the effect is atleast 3 times longer than the spell casting i would rather just mem then damn spell cast it and remem previous spell and have it done!
Complain some more
# Apr 21 2001 at 11:52 AM Rating: Default
Why don't you all complain some more about the magician armor? I mean its only on every post. IMHO magicians are not being screwed. Look at all the resists given on the armor. More than likely every magician has 200 int and is looking for RESISTS at high enough level to get it. I think that the Effect is a given bonus so that you don't have to mem the spell. Think about it. Its better than no effect right? who cares if you wear 3 items that give you the same effect. You don't have to memorize the spell or even remember what page the spell is on. But hey. Not many others get effects on their velious quest armor. And those that do get the effects are pretty much useless effects as well so please stop your complaining!

NOT being screwed i heard?? first i would like to point out the kunark class BP's, wow, those all have nifty effects that save mana, and compare it to the magician QUEST ROBES, wow, we get a free lvl 49 damage shield *wonderful, simply wonderful....* needless to say i will always remember when i run oom and have to resort to rightclicks to save me. before you priests and tanks ***** about how mages arent getting screwed, compare it to what you have avaliable. now, to get with the flaming..... oh lets see here, look up how many magician items have RECLAIM ******* ENERGY!!! almost every mage suit or set of items has at LEAST one that has this spell tagged on it. now...... if VI would have put in those other low lvl spells instead of reclaim energy, i bet mages (and i as well) would complain a lot less about their class. just understand that WE DONT NEED ANYMORE RECLAIM ENERGY RIGHT CLICKERS!!!! its like giving warriors a right clickable bracer that gives the warrior a 7/27 sword with no stats, or monks a rightclickable throwing stone thats 1/40 and weighs 40.0, hummm, giving clerics a group heal of 10 hp with a 5 second cast time, oh sure, it would come in handy maybe once in a lifetime, just think about that, now how would you feel if your class got the same useless damn effect on every quest bracer that you have tried hard to aquire, play a mage, find out how useless this spell is then come back and post your ideas about reclaim energy, i dare you, i will prove to you all who dont belive us mages that we are actually right about our class and YOUR NOT. thank you

I would like to know what class you play to post something so obviously stupid. Mages are getting the shaft with effects. Look at warriors equpiment or rouges for that matter.

So quit your ********
RE: Complain some more
# Apr 23 2001 at 12:29 PM Rating: Default
Considering that warriors and rogue need the spells alot more because they are at the brunt of the fighting, while mages sit back and hit a nuke now and then while sending in thier pet to do the dirty work.....

I would say, shut up and summon me some bandages.

I'm hoping enough time has passed since Smoka made his obviously well thought out post that one of two things has happened.

1. He's quit the game. Hooray!
2. He's figured out what other classes contribute to a fight.
RE: Complain some more
# Oct 07 2002 at 5:20 AM Rating: Decent
oh lets see here, during the brunt of the fight huh? wow, most of the time the warrior is trying to gain agro, now, tell me, would you rather have the warrior cast some spell for him and take up a few seconds of CCing? buffs (usually cast BEFORE the fight) minor heals (useless at higher lvls where heal doesnt exceed damage taken *plus you usually have a freaking cleric*)hummm, that might be a toughy for the stupid.

some ppl are just idiots. i havnt seen one person complain about the stats on the mage gear just the effects . we as mages have every right to complain about the effects, i mean look at our uber robe. necros get a lvl 56 spell on theirs we get a lvl 49 dmg sheild . last time i checked the place we gotta go to get the components to make our robe (excluding thurgadain quests) if your still using a lvl 49 dmg sheild spell in those places its because you belong to an uber guild and you got your twink mage out. id have to say the only class who gets screwed worse in the robe dept. is the enchanters how often do you use rune IV concidering you get rune V at lvl 52.
i got an idea!
# Apr 20 2001 at 5:29 PM Rating: Default
maybe verant can put summon rune sword on the next 50 mage items so when ever a war needs to replace his epic sword because of a bug we wont have to mem the spell WOOT now thats an idea im sure verant will like. also the next 50 items after that IMHO should have the effect of summon wisp i mean after all i havnt used that spell since april 1999 and i sure do miss that fire emerald wanna be a whole heck of alot.
thx again verant for the crappiest effects imaginable

Summon Bandages?
# Apr 20 2001 at 4:42 PM Rating: Default
Mages have this ability from level 4 and by level 20 they can summon 20 at a time with almost no mana cost, so what is the benefit here? It would be nice if Verant looked at some of these items and at least put appropriate level effects on them considering the cost and difficulty of obtaining them
RE: Summon Bandages?
# Jul 21 2001 at 4:04 PM Rating: Decent
actually, you don't summon 20 at a time until level 40. i just thought i'd post that because i have no life and nothing better to do with my time.
RE: Summon Bandages?
# Apr 23 2001 at 2:33 PM Rating: Default
The benefit (or one of them) is that you can Summon Bandages for your entire group without wasting any mana at all. Yes, the spell doesn't cost much, but if you can summon a ton at a time with no mana cost, you would be able to summon bandages for your group while they go out to pull.

I dunno, just my opinion.
And my opinion is better than yours.
RE: Summon Bandages?
# Oct 07 2002 at 5:27 AM Rating: Decent
LOL summoning bandaids HARDLY costs mana as is, plus, at higher lvls, sit down for a few seconds and POOF wow, magic, that max'd med skill sure comes in handy doesnt it? wait wait a sec, ohhhh C2 or C3, wow, now i dont even have to sit to med this mana wasted!! also when grouping or raiding, YOU HAVE A HEALER, now, if this had a instant cast time, it would be a decient item to obtain, but it probably has a cast time greater than the actual spell, so for now, i keep summon:bandages in my front core spells. just love to flame those who dont know **** about what they are talking about
RE: Summon Bandages?

The post about this being a benefit to a group/ pleas if a group is needing a mage to summon bandages for healing at tht lvl 50 weight noe lvl 20 range ther is a big problem in that group and its not likely to last very long. every gorup i have bennin since like well i started has had atles some form of healer like druid shammon cleric on of them to heal. so i rily dont see how summoning bandages for a group at the level we are talking is a benefit. not to menchon ther is not time to bind wonds in any good group between pulls so just something to think about be for saying somthing like :

o and P.S. my spelling might be bad but hay i think i make a good point.

if you need to summon enough bandages for your whole group , you shouldnt be where you are. lets be serious if you have these boots chances are you are lvl 50+ could you imagine bandaging your main tank with 3200 hp at 25 hp a pop.
RE: Summon Bandages?
# Apr 30 2001 at 8:41 PM Rating: Default
No, being a level 53 mage myself I can't. I can clearly tell which post belong to actual mage players and which are other classes. The mages are the ones calling our uber effects on items crap, because they have the in game experience of it and the other classes are the ones telling them to stop *****'n. Well add another mage to the ***** list!
RE: Summon Bandages?
# May 30 2001 at 5:48 AM Rating: Default
Here's one more to add to the list...i mean really..band aids...come on...if someone thinks a few band aids are gonna make a difference when something is hitting you for more damage than your whole 20 lil bandaids could possibly replace in less than 3 seconds...then that tells me you have not played the game. The band aid spell is great when your low lvl and don't have a healer in your group...might keep someone alive..but in high level groups...not gonna happen.

And for all of you who are telling us to quit ************** only cause you think someone might listen and shaft your charecters for a change.
