Rangers rock. I was able to get the quest items with the help of a ranger friend. How could you go wrong with Track! Got the staff and ohhh... how nice it feels to hit a mob for full almost every single time. In my opinion... if you are a 30 something wizard and you don't have this staff in your inventory... you are not a true wizard. Get it and you'll see a difference on your nukes landing.
I just finished this quest tonight before i had to leave for work.
I would suggest to go to www.graffe.com and print up the walk through.
1- go to perma frost first and get the frozen heart. I got lucky on this one was there about 15 minute and /ooc looking for frozen heart. Someone told there was wizard by the scryers room, so i headed over that way and noticed a dead wizard looked on the corpse and boom. part 1 done.
2- gate back to NK and head south to Lake Rathe, turn on levitate and keep heading south past the ogre camp/Rathe Mtns zone. there is a tower with a skeleton inside who has a pet. Killed the skeleton rooted the pet got the bone rod first kill.
3- I already had a lambent stone in the bank, but if you don't, zone to rathe mountains and /ooc that you are looking for a lambent stone. There are always people hunting the Hill Giants and they will probably be more then happy to let you loot one. (fairly common drop)
4- gate to Nek forest head north to Lavastorm, head north to the wall you will run into a BIG lava lake. there are 3 entrances aroung the lake Sol A, is on the south west corner of the lava lake, Zone in and /ooc looking for heart of fire. You might get lucky, if not head toward the bar area and you will find wizards around that area. I found mine after about an hour and a half just outside the fake wall. (THIS SEEMS TO BE THE HARDEST PART OF THE QUEST) The harder mobs do see through invis, so if you are 40 or below you better get a 48+ friend to help or get a full group if you are 30-40 range.
ALLRIGHT - i've grown ill of all the misinformed folks out there... please allow me to explain why this item is one of the most useful items a wizard can have (yes i stated this in an earlier reply but i want it right up top in bold )...
1) The effect lowers fire and ice resists by 6 - zap yourself with it and you will see this to be true... any debuff that doesnt require your mana, and doesnt even require you to be still (you can use the effect while running, it wont be interrupted, it has zero cast time) - IS INVALUABLE
2) Non Dmg Aggro - once in a group, no one wanted to pull... "i dont know the zone"..."i might get something thats green to you guys"... etc.etc. I said let me pull... for the next hour i had chain pulls coming thx to this staff... since it aggros the mob on you but does ZERO dmg... the first time a group member whacks it, aggro is off you.
3) Wizard crowd control - when you find yourself without a chanter, wizards sometimes play the crowd control role by peeling off the adds and parking them away from the battle... this thing is a perfect way to do it.
4) Range checker / kiting... snare the mob, start running and slapping your staff temp flux hotkey, as soon as it says Out Of Range, stop and nuke, repeat )
5) Zapping a mob that is running with this sometimes changes the mobs pathing... i.e. the runner is about to attract more aggro to us at a time we dont want that... hit with staff effect a few times... and kewl.. he turned around and is coming back )
and last but not least... ITS FUN!!
If im sitting in commons tunnel buying/selling... if i see corpses around (player or mob) i target the corpse and zap it with the staff effect (yes, you CAN do this... try it :)... then i quickly target another nearby corpse and zap it... freaks out the Noobs lol
ANYWAY... and my god the quest is truly easy, and totally doable at level 30 or even earlier
This is one of the most important items in a wizards inventory. Not for the weapon skills, and certainly not for the lowered resists it provides. It does, however allow a wizard, and a single melee class to kill ANY outdoor mob that does not summon. Ill let you figure out how.
Lol, are you all missing something here? who cares about the dmg/dly, you dont melee as a wizard in high levels unless it is just for kicks
The resists are crappy? SO WHAT? lol you switch your inventory easily enough to equip this rod, and put back in your main range slot item.
The key to this rod is "LOWER ELEMENTS" it lowers the resist of your target, FOR FREE...hehe, let me repeat that FOR FREE... =) once again FOR FREE.. wizards have no other way to lower resist other than debuffing your victims.
It only lowers it by resists by 5../cry SO? its FREE lower resist, and you can spam someone ld with it if they have a chopply connection... very good item for pvp..oh wait, thats right your all a bunch of hand holding carebears? that explains it...
This Staff is only Wizard only, even the proc too. I get this staff with my warrior, and when I right click it said something like you can't use it or your deity/race/class not allowed it. So non-wizard dont waste your time getting this one, like I did.
Ok i might be wrong but How can you mulitquest this. The items needed to get this is no drop and this is also no drop so unless you had you lil wizzy loot how in the world did you Miltiquest. Or maybe i dont know what Multiquesting is
If the the Wizzy turns in the Lambent stone to get the Staff of Ro then someone else can turn in the 2 Hearts and Rod first then the wizzy turns in the Staff of Ro. Multiquesting is possible I'd say
