can anyone verify the level needed to get this item, it sounds like you need more than level 18
How I did it
# Mar 19 2002 at 6:14 PM Rating: Default
I gathered four bone chips in Greater Fay before seeing Bronzleaf –and beginning this quest. After getting the first symbol I start the second by telling Bronzeleaf "I will slay the necromancer". I returned to Lfay and camped the obelisk. I treated this camp the same way I did the Iksar Jester in Kurns Tower – show up and camp it when you can, play elsewhere when you can’t. Using this casual method – I showed up ready to camp only to find a lvl 52 druid already in place. He told me he was getting ready to leave in a bit. While I waited I tracked and discovered one of the other mobs was up. Off I go in search. The little Brownie I was tracking led a merry chase – yet when I finally caught up to him – the lvl 52 was engaging him – Sigh – Off I go back to the Obelisk. Yet wonder of Wonders – the Necro is up – and goes down easy. I ignored his pet completely and laid waste to him AND looted his head before turning to finish off the pet – easily. Equestrielle and the Brownie scouts you must be careful of, although you can ignore the scouts if you are in wolf form – as they will ignore you in that form. After killing the necro and pet – I began running for the bottom of the map then headed to the corner – tracking the whole time – Almost to the corner before I picked up the courier and had JUST engaged him when the lvl 52 druid showed up a little irate about JUST missing out on both pieces. I apologized AFTER I looted the pack – and warned him about Equestrielle – to which he responds – Oh I just kill it when it shows up (SIGH).
During the times when I was NOT camping the necro – I ran around and engaged the other spawns in the zone, and ALWAYS hunted the ghasts – they pop in pairs one with a heart – ONE without. My luck is that I always seemed to kill the one without first!
This is a great ITEM – now at lvl 40 I am able to Root sand giants in Oasis – and med til it breaks or my dot wears off. I ran out of mana and was low health on one and rooted him to death with my symbol – a lifesaver! (Took forever – but I lived) I tell every Cleric and Druid I meet about this great item – everyone who can – should get it.
Nice Item

This part of the quest is much easier than the previous two and root is such a handy spell even if it only lasts 10 seconds its adding up the DoT damage for no extra cost.
courier
# Dec 24 2001 at 2:05 PM Rating: Decent
Take it or leave it here's my advice on the courier. Dot him and let the whole camp chase you, then wait till the dot fades, wait for him to come within range then dot again. Then run them around again untill you get the faction hit. Once you get far enough away from the others they will turn around and go back to the camp. Retrace your stepps and loot the corpse. Not the easiest way but it works(worked for me). Wolf form is good to keep the Brownies from aggroing you.

I got this item at lvl 35 and i still use it at 53. Its perfect for keeping those remaining mobs from gating, after your oom from a quad. Not to mention the countless times it has saved my rear when i was oom. Its just a good item, a must have for any druid's or cleric's. Get this and the ES vambs and your set.
Toss rangers a bone VI
# Dec 18 2001 at 1:11 PM Rating: Decent
That's all I can say, as I am a lil'bit green in the face. this is a great item for clerics much needed and useful, and not like druids needed any help in soloing the shytt outta places. but a mana free root. I know the ES has an item, but are rare and expensive.

Well i'm not gunna hold my breath or my face would turn green to blue to purple,.. 8/

effect
# Dec 10 2001 at 10:31 PM Rating: Decent
someone probably already asked this so im probably gunna sound dumb, but how do you get the roots to trigger when you want them to?
RE: effect
# Jan 01 2002 at 5:51 AM Rating: Decent
When you have the item equiped you just right click the symbol and have the mob targeted before you right click. Also you might wanna make a hotkey for the symbol.....just left click and hold for like 5 secs. for the hotkey =) hope this helps

And make sure its not yourself targeted. I remember back in crushbone maybe levels ago rooting myself instead of an orc. Its fun but probably not a good idea.

This was one long quest. I love my new necklase though. It does take a bit longer to cast around 4 seconds, wich is twice the norm. There is no recovery time though. So if you have cast a spell just before it, it winds up being about the same. Mana free root. While my es bracier dot is nibbling the flesh off his bones, I sit there and chain root my HG for the exta dd and hay he aint going any where. Train? eeeerrch.
How do u do this quest?

As in, this necklace acts as a greater lightstone too! Also in case your wondering, cast time is relatively quick---about 3 seconds.

A shame in my opinion it can't just linger in an inventory slot and still be cast (i.e. it has to be equipped for the click-effect, unlike J-Boots), but I also can't complain for mana-free roots with a 10dmg DD attached. Can you?
I was sooooo close

I popped in to Lfay today to see if any Ghasts were up, one was so killed it got the 4th heart. Ran over the monolith just to check and what do you know there was the necro.

Cast Snare and BAM, you have taken 401 in damage. Not from the necro, from that stupid horse. It darked me which canceled wolf form and died.

Reloaded spells, gated back, cast skin, wolf form, regin, invis and took off. Looted my corpse, had 40 mana but didnt want to take chance of him de-popping. Snared him, rooted the pet, took him out, then the pet. Let me tell you, the necro has about 500HP and his pet does too. I was so OOM that i couldnt even gate. Tracked the courier to the DE camp. And had to med.

Got up to about 40, cast invis so I could find the courier. He stands inbetween the 2 elites on the west side of the camp.

I cast harmony on the Prophet but was a bit too close to an elite and he started after me. Backed up a bit got off a snare after it was interrupted once, and ran to the ranger station. The Rangers engaged for me.

Headed back to the DE camp, and the courier was gone.

Now that I have failed once I see how to do this.

Best move is to have enough mana to gate so you can catch him before he gets to the camp. If not, cast harmony on the Prophet, cast harmony on the southern elite and snare the courier. the Northern Elite will come after you, but you have the courier engaged so that he will not de-spawn. Take the elite to the ranger station and as soon as the rangers have engaged, track and kill the courier.

This quest is very do-able. Just a bit time consuming, and watch out for that corrupted horse!
Courier
# Oct 21 2001 at 12:07 AM Rating: Good
Is it a special courier. Cuz i have seen them on several occasions while camping the nybright camps in lfay, were little fairies called "A farie courier" is that the one?
RE: Courier
# Nov 05 2002 at 10:36 AM Rating: Default
It is, I believe, a Teir'Dal Courier. I think you're talking about a faerie courtier (with a 't' after the r).,

Great item! Too bad my Druid is a Karana follower. I haven't been able to identify any similar Karana quests.

Are there any similar quests for Karana followers?

#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 12 2001 at 10:32 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) After trying for 12-15 hours when Lfay was retarded, now when I went back I finished the Lfay part of the quest in under a couple of hours. Thanks Verant for wasting my time.
Quest is Doable

Lesser Fay has reverted to normal and this quest has as well. I killed the Necromancer tonight, and soon after found and dispatched the Courier on his way to the camp. A good thing to do is get the Dragoon on tracking just before you kill the Necro, then run towards the camp. At some point you should pick the courier up on track (he's easy to lose between the faeries, orcs, and skeletons). Good luck!

One time when wandering near the lake in Qeynos Hills, I happened upon an erudite and his pet. I killed them both. The Erudite dropped an item called "Couriers Head" and an item that is called something like "Crate of Ore." Is it just an odd similarity or is this the same npc for the Warden quest?

Not broken
# Jun 20 2001 at 2:25 PM Rating: Default
The quest is not broken. I just completed it on Rodcet Nife. When you kill the Necro at the obelisk run EAST FAST. Get trackng up and you will intercept him in the middle of the zone.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 19 2001 at 8:49 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Well I have killed the Necro 5 times, each time trying to figure out where the heck this Courier is. I even petitioned a GM (Twice!) and they were absolutely no help.
QUEST BROKE(
# Jun 18 2001 at 10:36 PM Rating: Decent

The quest trully is broke, we petioned a gm, he checked, and said was brke. Nothing been the same since cazic took over lafay, at lieat my lv 60 kicked his @$$
Broken?
# Jun 16 2001 at 2:57 AM Rating: Decent
I camped the necro less then a month go all night, he finally poped. I quickly looted the head and gated to streamfront zone right out front, i was told by someone else that gating here you should have the curior. Nothing, ran to the trdal camp and no currior. Gave up and now tried it again tonight, necro poped killed and looted, gated again and nothing. Not even at their camp. Whats going on... Only thing i can figure is the necro's pet?? first time i killed the necro and the pet never agro'd and commited suicide after he died. 2nd time the pet came on me but i just rooted the pet and killed the necro leaving the pet, didint kill him. Maybe that had to do with it, no clue. Next time im not taking chances and just wasting em both. Hope they fix it if it is broke, been twice already :(
Not Broken
# Jun 17 2001 at 3:02 AM Rating: Default
After you kill the necro, a curior will spawn and run to the DE camp, you need to catch him before he gets there, unless you can take the DE camp.
This item is simply amazing...
# Jun 10 2001 at 5:19 AM Rating: Default
I use it all the time. Lets me kite - in DUNGEONS, with very little running room.

Simply root, then snare, then dot. Chain root until the dot wears off, then redot.

I almost hate taking it off when I go to the planes (I toss on my resist gear).

I truly hope this quest is not broken, because that would suck much ***** Anyway, a dwarf pally bud and me were laying the smack down on those silly undead pixies, well, they layed the smack down on him... when all of a sudden, we were fully healed, and filled with mana. I'm not sure what happened, but I think it may be an effect which only happens to worshipers of good deities, gonna try to see how many times I can get this to trigger... hopefully not dying in the process. All in the name of discovery!

Hmmm....

I guess it never occured to you that maybe a player came by and helped you in that regard?
Perhaps a necro mana infused you and healed you?

This necklace would be nice if I could get it. I have taken care off all parts but the courier. The reason I cannot do the courier is because his trigger (the necro) does not seem to trigger him after the whole tainting of Lfay thing.

Plus, you definetily DONT want to try and camp the necro below lvl 20. The frackin' sprites harm touch you for between 150 and 190. It's a pain in the butt, and I have been agroed by 4 at once...bubye 750hp...instantly.

Well, hope I can get that stupid courier...this would be a nice necklace. And, if the courier doesn't spawn for you...don't keep trying until next patch...it may be broken. I camped that *******'s triggered spawn location (after killing necro of course) for what musta been 13 hours.

Turn around time on the necro spawn is 15 minutes...just FYI. =) Good luck to you all, and wish me good luck in my battles with a_GM.

YOU ask a_GM for a trigger to a_broken_spawn!!!
YOU are hit with a_screw_you by a_GM!!!
YOU have died of shock_and_insanity_from_camping.
