I immediately RUSH for the person selling it, and buy it! so now I have humongous damage! (had a velium 2her before) I love this sword!

Anyone who says this weapon sucks is either an idiot, green with envy, or has their epic. I just got mine and I am now ripping mobs apart. With a DPM of 1200, how can you go wrong? And it is not NO DROP. If you don't like yours, then send me a tell and I will buy it from you for my guildies.

I just bought this weapon, and it is great but i think with the dmg bonus, and the plus 25 str bonus the strength of groden 41/51 that drops in maiden is actually better I hit slower but twice as hard and drop mobs faster when i time it. attack rating is the exact same after u take off the 25 str the axe has. Plus the axe is not super rare and off a uber mob. they are common, and u don't have to empty ur bank for a non magic weapon.
RE: Reaver Rocks!!
# Jan 06 2003 at 8:26 PM Rating: Default
umm how are you hitting TWICE as hard with a 41/51 then a 40/40? i understand the db might be slightly higher, and it is 1 extra damage, but 2x as hard seems kind of exagerated to me. 25str is nice but i'd take this over groden axe anyday.(btw attack rating is based on wep skill, str, and attack boosting spells, wep has nothing to do with it)

o, and 1 more thing, groden axe=not common, maybe it was once but it isn't now.

Incredible Weapon

At the moment I am a 45 SK and I have been wielding my Reaver since the twenties (yes, there is a damage cap until you hit level 30 even, i hit max 87 at level 29 and easily into 120's at level 30). It may not be an 'all purpose' weapon, but in using it I have found that it is able to hit nearly every mob I have encountered, exceptions being some undead, a few luclin mobs, and most named. This probably is not your weapon if you prefer spending your EQ time doing raids, being as that is when you will encounter a good many of the mobs that Reaver can not hit. However, if you like to xp, this wep will serve you well.
As an SK this weapon has made soloing extremely easy for me, most of the time i do not even need to fear kite, even at 45 ( i also wear a fungi which helps that ). If you like grouping for exp i found mobs in lake of ill omen, FM, OT, DL, most KC and most VL to pose no immunity to the reaver, i have heard that the non named in ToV even can be hit with it. The ratio as you can see is incredible at 40/40, the resists are good if your fighting casters, most of which i have found can still be hit by reaver. If you are of level to take down the statue you should already have a decent weapon/set of weapons at your disposal, keep these to use as your backups should you stumble across one of the mobs that it can't hit. If you are buying this weapon, spend an extra 1-2k on a velium weapon from DN to have a 30/40 in your bag. All in all, Reaver may not be a weapon for everyone, but should you choose to buy and use one I highly doubt you will regret that choice.

oh, btw.... much fun in duels and PvP as well I would imagine!

Safe travels and fun keeling to ya

My story
# Jul 02 2002 at 11:38 AM Rating: Decent
Im a lvl 41 SK who recently got very lucky in a buy i made. Through many trades i ended up with an Argent Protector. When i started grouping with people in DL i found the AP to be very slow. I then joined the auction channel wanting to trade the AP for a Reaver. This may seem stupid price wise, but i wanted the better ratio. I soon found someone to trade with, but he was in Velks Lab. i went there and we traded, i was very happy with the deal i made. The damage this thing can do is amazing, best double hit so far has been 130 and 112.

Later in the day, back in DL, the person whom i traded with send me an urgent tell saying that the sword of pain just droped in LD and i have 25 mins to get there. i haul *** back to GD and down to LD and manage to get the sword, thanks again Tinytimmy ( quellious ). The reaver is non magicical but now i have a great 1hs sword to use agaisnt magic mobs.

Found this for 3k on fennin ro testerday. AMAZINGLY cheap for such a cool toy. tried it out after i bought it w/ my lvl 25 warrior twink and immediatly did a crit for 110. the poor fire beetle didnt know what hit it lol. Anyway, my skill, unfortunately, is only 70 something so i max double attack for 60 per hit. with an FBSS, the 40 delay isnt so bad either. Only things i encountered that i cant hit w/ this are willow-wisps, ghouls, and mummies. everything else gets plowed. Best crip so far is 197 : ) My groupmates were amazed when i pulled that one off. hehe. Great weapon. Too bad its so hard to get.

I Think that this is a very good weapon, i am a lvl 47 Human Shadow knight and I never have had any problem using this non magical weapon against anything. The low lvl Sk spell Grim aura or the right clicky shrunken goblin skull earrings effect (Grim aura) will make this non magical weapon magical and add a attack boost of about 25, If you aren't a sk, the earrings go for about 7k on my server.

There is a way to give this weapon a magical effect - the SK spell Grim Aura doesn't just increase your ATK rating, it imbues your attack with a magical effect :).

I confirmed that you lose no stats when stamina goes down to 0...GREAT....looks like good info!
I went off to confirm that this can become a magical item and to me looks like no....I killed a bunch of shadow men and an item dropped that cast grim aura. I cast grim aura on myself and the REAVER was still unable to kill magical mobs. Not a problem for me as I bought it as non-magical but would welcome any comments or feedback on why my results were different..

I just tested the Reaver on a Willowasp. I did not land 1 hit in 5 min with Grim Aura up. So it does not make your attack magical. Also had Vampiric Embrace up also it was procing the life tap.

Still an awsome weapon though.

Happiness from Reaver
# Apr 15 2002 at 12:54 AM Rating: Good
For those who think this weapon sucks, I partly agree with them. But if you take a holistic view, every warrior or melee classes should have a vareity of weapons sitting in thier weight reduction bags. As a warrior, standard weapons like Lammy and centi LS (or others good ration 1hand weapon) are MUST. But they are boring, unless they can proc. But reaver has brought som much FUN to me and my grp mates.

Take my example in KC, I have been hitting well but others would not know as they all turned off OTHER HIT in the menu. But I can score Crit Hit. My Crit Hit has been in the range of 200 to 300. Grp mates were tried to compliment my Crit Hits coz they have seen good Crit hit from my reaver too many times. At last, I had one sucks Crit hit of 25dmg. They all said "WOOOOOOT Nice Crit Hit". I replied "That was from my KICK Lol"

I have had so much fun with this weapon. I paid 14k on this weapon but the amount of happiness I get is much greater than 14k.

Think about what you can buy for 14k. Couples of Cobalt for me, but they do not really bring me as much happiness as Reaver does.

Ring you bells?

Yeah, I have some 8 weapons or so on me at any given time, most are different, and while I use my most damaging weapons most of the time(lammy/Shiny Hammer thingy), whenever it's not that important, I'll bust out with my 2hb skull on a stick(39/44, from doomshade...) cause it looks cool and is fun =)

No, but if you don't play a bard, I'm guessing that most bard songs you have experience with are group songs :)

They get a handful of self only songs. E.g. Jonthan's Whistling Warsong has more haste than the group song you can sing at the same level.

what it hits
# Feb 03 2002 at 12:57 PM Rating: Decent
Well picked this up recently, and was nervous about what I would and wouldnt be able to hit.
So far all I can say is wow.. The only things that I have been unable to hit are named in akedva and undead frogs in seblis, everything else(so far) gets hit, including all mibs in HoT in ToV that I attacked (doubt it would on named however)

For me stamina drain is not a problem thanks to yaulp 4. I hit in the high 180's 190's most of the time with max about 235.

Basically with the damage and great resists, I am a happy Pally :)

Narandi's Lance was actually named in honor of the 1st person to get it, Nerandi..ofcoarse. Same with the crown thats dropped during the same war. I actually think that was cool of verant to actually pay a little respect to a player. Then again...getting the 10th Dain ring isnt something you can cough at either.

Correct, but narandi was the 1st to get the item, thus naming the mob and the items in his/her honor. back then it was something verant did to reward players, wont get into that though )
Reaver Info
# Dec 17 2001 at 4:46 PM Rating: Excellent
It seems like messages here were posted by those who have not had their hands on a Reaver so let me share some of my experience.

This weapon has been upgraded to 40/40. Other stats remain the same (still non-magic, +12 saves and weight). First of, there is no need to argue that it is one of the best damaging weapons (in terms of damage ratio) in the game. In fact, it is the most damaging one that is tradable. Only more damaging weapons than this are drops from named dragons in ToV and from Tunare.

There are two potential problems with this weapon -- its weight (hence STA of the weilder) and being non-magic.

Weight is a problem but not as bad as you might think. At 50+, you should be having STA at around 100. I managed to have STA slightly above 100, at expanse of STR sometimes. In a standard group battle, the STA bar will drop to near zero at the end of fight. With STA at 100 or higher, you don't need to worry about AGI loss when STA bar hits zero, and from experience, I hit slightly less than with full STA bar but still deal a significant damage. As a Paladin, I just zing myself between the battles, or simply sit down for a few seconds. With a shaman in group, you can forget about this at all.

Regarding non-magic, I spend most of my level 50+ days in Velk's Lab. All mobs there -- spiders and dogs -- are non-magical. In fact, Reaver is very good for chopping up dogs (some are casters) because of its resists. In KC, I have hit dogs and skellies with it, but cannot hit hands or VS with it. I have not tried it in Sebillis but I think I can hit skellies with them. Personally, I prefer 1hs (slash and bash) in KC and Seb zones. It is pretty useless in Chardok with sarnaks but skellies can be hit. It is great for chopping giants (after all, it comes from them), but useless for dragon raids.

After all, this is a GREAT weapon. I am lucky enough to obtain it at my early 50's. I think you can count number of Reavers on Rodcet Nife since there aren't very many guilds that can take down the Statue, and Reaver is not always dropped. But funny thing is, when Reaver drops, no one really wants it so it usually is sold for guild fund. You might be lucky to pick one up at reasonable price.

The weight should not be a problem if you are lvl 60 paladin with Yaulp 4. 1 mana, last 24 sec. IMHO, this is one of the best soloing weapons for a lvl 60 paladin.

Cocomo thanks for the great info. I would like to add a couple more points.

I have owning this for quite a while now and seriously it works pretty well cept in KC for VS.

I have used it on Velketor, Vindi, all unnamed mobs in HoT and Telk in the West Wing and it hasn't failed yet. In fact for ToV the resists becomes a nice bonus to have.

Oh yeah...with Combat Fury 1, I crit for 368 the other day unbuffed...hehe...I love this weapon.

btw, dmg bonus depends not only on the dly of the weap, but the class/lvl of its wielder.

so don't go around tellin everyone what the damage bonus is cuz you dunno what it will be when they wield it.

Apparently this thing is now 40dmg 40dly. It sucks that it's not magic. But my SK is currently level 37 and still using it a ton. Every in Cazic is non magic. Most mobs in Mistmoore are non magic too. Paid 3k to buy a Deathbringers Rod so if I run into a magic mob I just lose a bit of damage but still wail it. And when those non magic mobs come by they get their asses kicked in short order.

I need someone that owns the Item to verify the Damage/Delay ratio.

Castersrealm has it listed as 35/45

EQPrices also lists this item at 35/45

I also seem to remember the first post here as having a different ratio than 36/40

Was the first post here wrong?

Just to point out.... you were only borrowing one, Reldan =0 To answer your question, it was originally 35/45, since it was so hard to get and crappy with non magic hits and so heavy, they upgraded it to 36/40, and with the latest 2h patch its 40/40. But, for most mobs the non magic is not a problem, mostly its just undead, dragons, and old world *possibly Velious, as well* giants. Acumen alieveiates the stamina drain nicely.
