I use just the worked dragonwing cloak because of my low base wisdom as a shaman. I'd rather have this heavy dragonwing cloak than a hiero, simply because wisdom gives great mana at 55+ and with +9wisdom items its actually feasable for someone with only 90 base wisdom to max it out and retain some ac and resists.

The higher ac and wis items you get the more you can use those other items as bonuses like blue diamond gear etc. I can barely get my wisdom anywhere near 200 at lvl 59 because of my base wisdom being 90. Well, lemme say that, I can barely get my wisdom close to 200 without putting on absolute crap for ac. This is a very good cloak, noone can deny it. We all know its not the best, but so what?
Numbers are wrong

At over level 50 and greater than 200 wisdom, you get 5 points mana per point wisdom. So this cloak is a 45 mana cloak. Compare to a Heiro cloak with +4 wisdom AND +75 mana, and you'd get 50 more mana with the Heiro -- not to mention the +75 hit points, etc, etc.

Heiro cloak clearly superior any way you slice it.

Let me add... not trying to knock what you are saying, but as a 50+ shaman your first focus should be getting 200 wisdom... after that it is strictly a mana and hp game. Don't even BOTHER with extra AC and make sure your wisdom is not costing you mana (in terms of what you could be wearing in the slot instead of wisdom item).

Oh... and get your epic :)
AC is king
# Sep 13 2001 at 10:11 AM Rating: Decent
Unless your fighting dragons, then Resists + HP's are
king. Or so they say, I've only been killed by dragons so far....

Anyway AC is king for all non-int casters. Especially so for shamans though. First of when your puller pulls that frog in Seb, The first thing ya do is slow it. Now ya got a pissed off froggy on your hands thats gonna be smack'n ya silly. Then
ya cast your EBolt on it. And now that tanks gonna have a tough time taunt'n it off of you. Then you
go into Clicky mode, and Hit the froggy with your
JBB every 8 seconds, and every 8 seconds you go back up to the top of his agro list.

Clerics will hate you if you're gett'n hit for full or close to full dmg for all of those hits....

Then Said froggy dies, you go canny away, and make the cleric drop you a pump-style heal, and you're back up to FM, or close too.

Currently my AC is around 969, and my wis is at a pathetic 168. But with a chanter wis buff it's up to 184 or something, and how often do you group without an enchanter. If you think about wis and mana Items, they only really help you when you are FM (and fizzles). As a shaman with Canabalize, I'm rarely FM, so the only reason why I wouldn't let it go lower than 175ish is because the fizzle rate goes through the roof.

Now if I could only get me one of those fungi tunics.............

I'd STRONGLY disagree with the above post. 200 wis for a shaman would be great- yes. But is it realistic? No- not without gearing up with as much ac as a pure caster. (with the exception of FoH :) AC is a life saver for Shaman- Obviously Mr. Anon hasn't played a shaman over level 30, otherwise he'd know that with "not bothering with extra AC" would have you on the floor of Seb or KC before you could know where it was comming from. I myself am level 50, and have 173 wisdom and and doing just great.
And i'm working on the epic :)

Time to stop begging for cheese NOObee's

Look, i completely understand that people look at these and go...OMG +wis!! Understand this...at around level 35 or 40 you should have MAXED wis, yes hit that soft limit 200 wis. If you haven't then you have NO CHANCE at anything outta WW. Druids do not need more wis when they hit this zone, they need +mana, or resist gear with wis to replace existing +wis equip. this would actually be a good rogue item as it carries an ac of 13, 3 more then the HBC most rogues are wearing still when they hit WW. Just my 2cp. <flame off> sorry experienced players, just can't stand this incipid whining

I hear what you're saying, and to a point, I agree. However, the stats on this are 13 ac, 5 str, and 9 wis. By using this to replace my totemic cloak, I would...
a) be up to 206 wis
b) have better ac
c) better str (but thats really not an issue with an ogre shaman)

With this cloak, I could replace my platinum jasper ring with a velium diamond ring, and increase all saves by 8 also.

Now, I'm DEFINATLY not saying wis casters should be only ones to roll/loot this cloak, I believe it could help any of the classes that can wear it...depending on their current armor of course.

yeah yeah I know, sad for a 54 shaman to be wearing a totemic cloak still...please don't rub that in my face :)

Would it make you feel any better if I told you I was a 56 shaman still wearing a totemic cloak? *sigh*

I'm a L56 cleric and my Wis is 196. That's because Donal's (the Kunark cleric armor) and allot of the other high end cleric gear is taking the place of our old Wis gear. Nice wisdom on decent items like this helps us replace our old Wis gear with new fancy AC and resist items =P

Druids shafted again

Once again, Druids are Shafted from a great +WIS item. Is this a balancing isue or something?
You guys whine too much
# Apr 14 2001 at 11:02 AM Rating: Default
You picked the class so stop whining about the items they are able to wear. It's not everyone else's problem you can't wear plate or chain or any metal for that matter. All I really have to say is, STOP WHINING!!!!!
#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 10 2001 at 10:16 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Yeah why are not all items wearable for druids ? haha !!!
#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 26 2001 at 3:18 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) The odd thing is.....why would an item listed as being made from a dragonwing be chain? Should undeniably be leather based.
#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 08 2001 at 2:39 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Nice to continue to see the shafting of druids.. yay
