it IS a good robe
# Mar 11 2004 at 4:46 PM Rating: Decent
yes that robe of dark beguilement is nice because it has +100 cha.. obviously you dont play and enchanter tho, cus any enchanter worth a damn doesnt really worry that much about their charisma. enchanters always have sufficient charisma to charm, paci, mez , etc.. but enchanters can never have enough hitpoints or mana. this robe helps out a lot more that the robe of dark beguilement, both have int +15, but the +100 cha is really weak for an enc high enough lvl to acquire it. i would only get the robe of dark beguilement for a noob enc.
CRAP!!

its a good robe...

though I wish it didn't cost a peridot to cast spell...

Maybe if they made casting time longer so it would be unuseable to chain cast on a tank.
Great Robe!

Lets not get too ****** and whiney about it.
Any enchanter lucky enough to win the roll on this RARE and prestigous item should be counting their blessings. To tell the truth, even without the (admittedly) mediocre right click effect - this robe blows away 98% of the no drop robes for casters (eg: the Insidious robes for chanters from PoH) just on stats alone.

Anyway if you already have that mana robe or something better from Emperor Ssra (sp?), all Velious armor quests can be MQ-ed away.

This is quested...but you have to win the robe (tattered silk robe) to begin with.. You turn in the tattered silk robe and 3 pristine emeralds, and you get the above robe.

then you never been in a uber guild, any guild would let the chanter have this, if your not raiding with a guild dont raid

Me assuming there's more than one enchanter along, I think (unless it's a guild who will automatically give it to their highest/longest in guild chanter) this would be rolled on. K, it goes to the chanter - but which one?
RE: Great Robe!
# Sep 07 2002 at 12:38 AM Rating: Decent
It's not just the enchanter. The item for the quest is for all cloth wearing classes, i.e. all casters roll on it...

You can buy the MQ rights for a Skyshrine INT caster robe but that usually needs a boatload of plats. For dropped (loot) armor, Thurgardin standard Velious stuff drops in Plane of Growth.
#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 17 2002 at 11:37 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Heh, a couple weeks ago I bought a Thurg Silk robe MQ for 6k (about 20k off the normal price =P) and now that im looking at the SS version of this im realizing that this thing is only BARELY better than mine.
Disappointed
# Jan 20 2002 at 8:29 PM Rating: Default
I'm so disappointed in this robe. I mean sure it's stats are decent but the time you are able to get it, there are plenty of robes you have a chance for with just as good if not better stats. The sad fact of the matter is this robe would be 100% better (or at the very least, much better) if it's effect was rune V not rune IV. By the time you can get this robe, you already have rune V. Yeah casting it would suck because you use your mana (omg not like you are ever gonna go without clarity) but rune V is night and day difference with rune IV and THEY USE THE SAME COMPONENT. OK so I have a robe that will take 1/3 longer to cast, do only 2/3 the amount of damage absorbsion, and USE THE SAME COMPONENT!! WTF is with that?!? Personally I'll get the robe but NEVER use the effect. How worthless...Yet again I am forced to say WTG Verant..there's some forethought put into yet another quest.

Got this yesterday and have a few things to save. It is different color than robe of the oracle, light blue with green. And for the moron that said *most* mobs dont nuke for over 200, get out of the level 20-30 dungeons.

# Feb 23 2003 at 6:15 PM Rating: Default
hmmm, or maybe u r the one who should get some MR gear and join him in only taking 200-300 damage......just a thought, my enchanter is 55 and i havent even been hit for 300pts of damage in one stroke from any mob on raids included...if u r a caster and getting hit for that much....well, u r doing something wrong, or your party did something wrong and just wiped

#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 08 2001 at 12:59 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You know what's UBER lame the fact that Plane of Growth Robe has like almost the SAME stats SAME effect and looks nicer (IMHO) Now THAT'S what I call Verant Saying ***** you CASTERS! I mean Skyshine Quest Gear for melee is alot nicer then PoG how'd we get left out?

Can anyone tell me what this robe looks like? Aesthetics are everything!
Effect
# Apr 09 2001 at 2:27 AM Rating: Decent
Is this effect self-only or targetable? and does it take the normal component that casting Rune does?
#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 05 2001 at 2:19 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Kill thr giants first fo what pieces you need, then use the faction bug to reset uour faction and kill the dragons and get the rest of what you need. Not too hard to work that one out...
#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 04 2001 at 5:19 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This has 2 less AC and STA, 1 more int, 20 more mana/hp which is negligable, and the Kael has better saves, kinda lame.
RE: Worse than Kael
# May 03 2001 at 1:25 AM Rating: Default
all of the quests are doable with dictate and a pally training everything else off.

no reason to even worry about faction.
RE: Worse than Kael
# Apr 05 2001 at 12:58 PM Rating: Decent
Personally, I'd say that this robe is better... the 20 hp/mana is not negligible... especially when you add up all the other hp/mana + items you will have...
RE: Worse than Kael
# May 03 2001 at 1:28 AM Rating: Default
I agree, hp/mana is superior to resists (I mean who cant get any particular resist or pair of resists to 150 unbuffed easy?). passive resits in normal situations are questionable, since *most* mobs wont ever get a nuke for more than 200 hps, and spend like 4 seconds (thats like 8 slowed melee rounds) doing so. the only real thing to worry about is slow on tanks and high level AE's (that you specialize resits for a particuar fight anyway).

and neither robe is the robe I would wear in a AE fight anyway, due to inferior resists to my alternatives.
RE: Kael is worse
# Apr 07 2001 at 7:49 AM Rating: Default
Well, I have to agree, overall, its better than Kael.

First you are trading 2 AC and 2 stamina, and +2 to a few saves and getting +1 mor intelligence, 20 more hp/mana, and you also get a bonus to ALL saves, whereas the Kael robe only gives you a bonus to fire, magic, disease and poison, and leaves you high and dry when it comes to saves to cold.

If you think that as a caster more AC is going to make a differance, its not, we are already so far behind a tanks AC that adding 16 AC more overall from Kael armor is not going to make a differance as much as the extra 150+ hp/mana you will get by using the Skyshrine stuff.

And why anyone would want to use that ugly cheap stuff from Thurgadin is beyond me.

RE: Kael is worse
# May 03 2001 at 1:24 AM Rating: Default
people use thurg armor because of accesability.

ToV isnt exactly a newbie zone, yet kael can be raided by a planar group with 1-2 high level enchanters babysiting them.
RE: Worse than Kael
# Apr 04 2001 at 7:18 PM Rating: Good
One could also agrue that 2 ac and sta is also negligable. Saves are almost even 10 cold instead of fire, and Kael robe has 2 more to each of the rest, which could also be said is negligable. While I agree it doesn't beat the kael robe in every way, the Kael robe doesn't beat this one in every way either. That is the point, you have to make a choice to align yourself with dragon's or giants, and if you ranked all the pieces the same way, half the skyshrine quest rewards will be better, and half the Kael rewards will be better. That is the design, otherwise every enchanter would align themselves with the same factions and there would be no point to having the other quests.
RE: Worse than Kael
# Apr 04 2001 at 8:10 PM Rating: Default
Well Said.. As a SK.. I am almost afraid to start these quests.. Sure at 47 I am only gonna be able to do the thurgadin stuff.. but the time an effort to change factions for the giants an then the dragons to obtain each piece that I really want from each set.. makes me happy in the fact that no one set of armor is better than the other.. and when I finally have all the pieces that I personally deem the best of each.. I will know that all the hard work an time went into it was well worth it.
It would be way too easy to simply align urself with giants.. and have everybody go kill dragons.. or align with the giants.. an go kill whatever (I am assuming dragons???) for the KD armor quests..

Be a man (or woman as some of you maybe) and make the tough choice.. which piece do you want first????????
RE: Worse than Kael
# Apr 05 2001 at 2:37 AM Rating: Default
The problem is that Kael armor and Skyshrine armor are too much the same, while the difficulty to attain them is not the same. And while Kael armor should have more ac and less stats, and Skyshrine armor should have more stats and less ac, we have a set with higher ac and good stats, and a set with less ac and the same stats or in some cases with less stats. Really disappointing.
RE: Worse than Kael
# Apr 05 2001 at 10:22 AM Rating: Decent
Kael Robe- 14 AC 60 mana 60 hp 14 int 7 charisma 7 stamina +8 sv d/m/p +10 sv fire

I know some enchanters think AC means alot, but it doesn't. HP is the only thing that keeps a caster alive longer. Because our defense skill is so low having higher ac helps so little. Skyshrine enc gear has the most hp/mana compared to all other quest armor. It is by far the best gear out of the 3 quest types (Thurgadin, Kael, Skyshrine) for enchanters. The effect is ****** gay but hopefully they VI will fix that.

/bonk

2ac makes no real difference but 20hp does? Its a matter of opinion really.

And please, get over the Rune IV effect. I refer you to the Donal's BP fiasco and rest my case.
