Regen
# Feb 09 2002 at 8:34 AM Rating: Excellent
I cant complain about the Regen on this baby, seems to work nicely with my innate regen being a Troll plus the extra points I have in the adv skill, and hell 45AC is nice. Got this on the 8/02/2002 Vindicator fell.

# Dec 29 2001 at 12:46 PM Rating: Decent
Hehe, this is nice. Svresists, regen and Ac its got it all except wis:(. However what lvl can a shaman go on a raid to have a chance to roll for this??, I am lvl 51. Am I too low to get in a raid for this?
RE: Nice
# Dec 31 2001 at 1:25 AM Rating: Decent
At lvl 51 you should be looking for a Fungi Tunic not this.. worry about one of these are lvl 58+ since your gonna need to be in a pretty half *** decent guild to even try Vindi.

# Dec 25 2001 at 1:56 PM Rating: Decent
Most of the time when people are doing Statue, Vindi etc. This BP will go to Shaman. Why you ask? Wolf Callers is only +4 all resists. And you will find the rest of the wolf callers is horribly poor in the resist department. Why is this important? Try getting far away from the mob and slowing, I guarantee you, you will get resisted 9 times out of 10 against a big ToV mob or something similar.
Proximity means 2 things, success and AoE range. To be successful at slowing you have to be IN the AoE range, end of story. Similarly. Try Canibalizing in between pulls to buff EVERYONE at the raid without Regen items. It doesn't work. Ok, I can put on Fungi; sure, and then the monks will ***** at me cause they don't have one. The AC an all on Fungi is poor, Neg Dex and Agi, means I get interupted and I bite a few AC.
If you only have a few 60 Shamans in a guild they NEED to be at their peak. Simple as that. Because likely there will only be 1 of them at every raid. It is VERY easy for Melee's, even Clerics to get better BPs for AC and resists in comparison to Shamans. AND we actually do Canni quite a lot on raids. I myself can go through 3-4 FULL bars of Mana buffing the raid just once. And I do this in between pulls and AM EXPECTED to have mana to slow when the INC announced.
Hell, even Thurg armor has nice resists on it for Clerics.
RE: Loot
# Mar 22 2002 at 12:54 AM Rating: Decent
wow horaxe I hope you don't count on regen from fungi at lvl 60 to use canni to med, just canni till you lost about 1000HP, torpor, re-canni... and you go from oom till FM in less than 2 min.
I realized regen was not that useful for fast med since I got torpor. I'm glad I didn't spend money in a fungi, just sitting while waiting to regain just 15 more HP every 6 sec is far too long to be efficient, when torpor gives you 300 at the same time for not even 200 mana (supposing your spe is alter, like 99% of the shamans).
I also thought fungi weren't for monks but for shamans, it's true till lvl 59, but with torpor I begin to change my mind when having to wait for monk to regen a bit while FD'ing in a bad pull.
RE: Loot
# Dec 30 2001 at 1:51 PM Rating: Decent
Most also do not relaize the agro a lvl 60 slow draws. Insta summon if you had to malo as well. Anyways, resists are so very parimount on a raid and i have full Spirit Caller's and i think i get a grand total of 1 resist buff from full kael. Compare the Kael shaman BP to ANY other class and we get royally shafted in the resists department. (/sigh i cant complain to sincerly it is a damn good BP)
RE: Loot
# Mar 22 2002 at 1:04 AM Rating: Decent
Heh don't forget our WONDERFUL effect on BP !! lvl 54 sta buff, when druids get group regrowth, that's weird I'd say, I prefer use talisman of the brute to buff sta of all the group, don't have time to wait 10 sec per buff, moreover with the last patch, now group sta is same amount than single buff...
And now Verant added some disease counters on slows which seems to generate more aggro again. I was pissed in Chardok, War 57 and Rogue 60 (BSing and critic up to 900) took more than 10 sec to take the aggro from it, it was weird.

Bards !!!
# Nov 19 2001 at 6:29 AM Rating: Excellent
Ok im not flaming anyone, but i just want to say that if the BP here goes to a hybrid, it should go to a bard too, because nothing is considered more a hybrid than a bard in general.

Bards are so often neglected in situations like this that i feel sorry for them, people in general have the idea that bards sucks, which is so not true, the bard play a very important role on high end raids, they fight ok not as good as other hybrids but turn it around and say did the bard just save my *** with his/her kick *** resist songs compared to the "standard" SK or pally for that matter.

Personally i would rather be in a group with a bard when we do ToV raids, simply because they are quite cool, and every respect to the bard stacking 5-6 songs at the same time, it is hard requires skill and sadly they dont get awarded for what they can do.

No i dont play a bard, im a monky myself just feel sad to see bards get shafted so much. my 2cp

Peace

Hi I'm a bard... and guess what... i was awarded this BP the 3rd time it dropped for our guild... and anyone who says bards suck or they are unimportant... guess what class has to have a ST key before any guild goes there for the first time... OMG ITS A BARD! occlusion is god...

Just to clarify about twisting songs (dont get me wrong I love my Bard =)

http://users.erols.com/gww6e/eq/HOWTO-twist-bard-songs.html

Some individuals are able to intuitively twist, and given little network latency can stop and start songs before actually receiving the confirmation message and icon from the server. In this manner potentially 4 songs maybe twisted together, however even masters of this technique will admit that success ratios are closer to 50% for all 4 simultaneously in effect - i.e., this is not a sustainable/viable technique.

Effectivly it is impossible to twist more than 4 songs.

Most confuse the Proc on epic as an additional song, plus, there is at least one other weapon with a click effect that some bards "twist" into the ratio to impress people :)

Bards are UBAR. Period. Hard as hell to play at times tho ;)
Vindi bp
# Oct 17 2001 at 11:26 PM Rating: Default
Since we are talking who this breastplate goes to I will put my 2c in. On my server in my guild it goes to hybrids...ie Paladins and Shadow Knights. We have killed Vindi about 10 times, and have handed out about 5 breastplates. I am pretty sure we only give this to the hybrid classes, because the other classes get other breastplates. Clerics get the Breastplate off the Statue, and Warriors get TOV Breastplate. I am not sure about bards....I saw that post saying that this goes to bards, and I was kinda shocked...never would have thought of this thing going to bards first. This is another one of those items that is great for everyone, but if ya really look at it and examine the stats..it's probably best for hybrids. Another good example of an item like that is the Shroud of the Dar Brood, which I have also...great for everyone, but best for hybrids.

Clerics get the breastplate off the Statue? Breastplate of Eradication is not cleric wearable; I assume thats the one you mean. Warriors tend to get the Breastplate of Eradication, everyone gets ToV quest armor, clerics wear ToV quest armor or a Vindication BP.

This or Breastplate of Superiority
LORE ITEM MAGIC ITEM NO DROP

Vind has better resist and a effect but this has more ac and some more stats=/ Seems warriors would prefer this but for a class like a bard? Id go for vindication. Just wanting some thoughts as my guild is stuck on the whole issue
RE: Which is better?
# Nov 22 2001 at 10:04 AM Rating: Decent
Personally i would rather have vindi's, the sv's are insane, and when running around ToV that extra 10ac (if not a warrior) and a few stat pts are not going to save you from the AE, but that extra 11 in sv's can.

In my humble opinion,

Not to mention that this has an additional 11sta/50hp. Once your AC is in the upper 1200s or 1300s, more AC doesn't do a whole lot for ya, it's the HP that counts from that point. This goes for everyone, the MT needs more HP to take the heat and everyone else needs more HP to eat the AE damage (some AE's are unresistable so no matter what your resists, you're gonna take damage).

Overall, I'd rate this higher than the BP of Superiority, but below the breastplate of eradication.

The look of the Chestplate of Vindication has had it's graphic changed to something similar to Velious drops. Yay no more EBBP :)
This BP
# Sep 29 2001 at 3:37 AM Rating: Decent
I am fortunate enough to own this BP. Firstly I would like to adress the weight. I wear imbued granite Spaulders (19.x), Seahorse hide Cloak (9.0), and this BP at 25. My carrying load is around 100/140. Tinker bags folks. I own four never even considered the weight.

As for who this BP is for? If you are in a guild who can kill this mob, it's probably going to a bard. 3 of our 4 main bards own this BP, and the fourth has better. It's also gone to a few warriors and one shaman.

I don't know about dissapointing drop. I chose it over the bard TOV BP. For a warrior, you'll get better. But we're not overjoyed when this drops anymore. The earring would be more to our liking.

Just took down vindi twice thanks to server downage... While it is wonderful to dream about what you will be able to get at later levels, the odds of anyone not already a high level getting any of this stuff are quite slim. A quick fyi: all this stuff that people say is monk only or "wouldn't be good for blah blah blah" is doled out by the raid leader/head of the uber guild you're in. It's very very rare that someone says "hey, let's roll on these vindi-boots." Usually it's only after quite a few raids with the same people that you'll even be considered for these. So my advice is, don't make fun of people dreaming, we've all done been level one and don't post your opinions about who these items should go to unless you've been there. Instead, try leveling and being personable in game and maybe you'll actually kill derakor someday.

As far as this not going to Shaman ..
# Jun 30 2001 at 8:23 AM Rating: Default
No shaman gear has resists anymore. None of the Velouis or JB has any resists what so ever. That's why it makes a lot of sense for shaman to be able to wear this. Few Plate types at the Vindicator killing stage needs those resists as badly as a comperable Shaman.

#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 01 2001 at 2:27 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This is not a rediculously disappointing drop. It can be argued that this bp is the best one even for warriors. I would say that, extra hp/ great resists/ regen and atk effect (which is stackable with other battle of aura effects) > 14 raw AC and some minor other stat +'es on the Warlords BP.

Ever heard of a chestplate of fiery might, 60 ac (highest ac BP in the game) and lots of stats AND has an effect

Fiery Might
Description:
Regeneration for 3000 Hit Points (HP) in 600 ticks
Damage Shield by 5 (L1)

Details:
Casting Time: Instant
Recast Time: 0 seconds
Skill: Abjuration
Allowed Targets: Self
Duration: 600 ticks (60 minutes)
Resist: Fire
Range to target: 100

not as good stats but the AC for warriors is WAY better.

Lamers that want to play Iksars? Pfft and what are you? A follower of the smurfs? Or perhaps of every other little band of races that is a direct copy of old myth or of D&D races...bite me, Iksars are possibly the best designed race in this game, they have some of the best stats, and they are the most original race of all of them (Excluding the Kerrans coming out of course in SoL). So next time you say lamers + iksars, think twice about how creative you were when you created a human warrior, or a wood elf ranger, not very creative for a ROLE PLAYING game, now is it eh?
#Anonymous, Posted: Aug 22 2001 at 3:03 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This game doesn't exactly leave much room for creativity in charater creation. The only ones that are really creative are people who choose a class/race combo that isn't used too often...like a gnome warrior.

Thank you Stryphe, glad to see another person out there who looks beyond the +2 SV cold and the -1 CHA.

Do I look for good stats on my armor? yes!
Do I refuse to wear a treeweave cause it looks like crappy leather? yes!
Do I play my character up to his usual standards ov evil? at every chance I get!

This IS a Roleplaying game... I would NEVER wear a Breastplate of Holy Love no matter WHAT the stats were, simply because of the name... I prefer to Roleplay the game and I find that no matter what your gear may be, it's the PERSON behind the player that matters.

Personally I find the game to be most fun when I'm roleplaying around others, rather than camping or soloing or leveling.

Um, shamans are a chain class when you think about it. You can't wear bronze, finesteel, steel, etc. Totemic uses chain pieces of armor for pieces, and Verant has said that planar armors used plate graphics mainly just for looks.
#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 28 2001 at 3:10 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Actually...considering he has only 100k hp's as someone posted in re, that's not nearly as much as other MoB's in EQ have nowadays.

RE: rogues
# Apr 10 2001 at 5:34 AM Rating: Default
Thats because rangers and rogues are chain classes... despite the plate graphics most of their armor is considered chain... Verant stated they used plate models strictly for looks.

25 for a breastplate is pretty heavy, and I don't see many bards or clerics wearing it at that weight, cus EVEN if they have 200 STR, that's still an eigth of their capacity.

It may be a little below par with the risk vs reward issue, but the resists on the breastplate are top of the line, and combined with the very nice sta / hp it is a very very nice breastplate. And the effect, permentant aura of battle which is 14attk and 2regen per tick, it is not such a shabby breastplate afterall.
