Chain or Plate?
# Feb 23 2004 at 1:04 PM Rating: Decent
At this time I do not know of anyone who wears this, however I have met a Pally who, because of RP reasons will only wear chain.

So my question is, Does this have a Plate or Chain graphic on an Erudite?

Thank You.

Lots of people wear this. It has a plate graphic.
Much better than cobalt. More hp than warlords, though slightly less ac.
which one.?

What's better for a Wood Elf Warrior..?
a) Cobalt Breastplate
b) Chestplate of Vindication
c) Iron Breastplate of the Demented

Vindicator BP is better for any Warrior out of those 3, not just Wood Elves.

Vindi Is a Tough Mob, My Guild "FeralRedemption" on Morrell Thule took him down twice this week. In the last raid we had 38 people with an average lvl of 55.. Make sure you have a good puller and that your tank gets the aggro before anyone does anything, Otherwise WIPE, The two times he fell, he dropped the BP and his head. I was fortunate enough to become the new owner of the BP Woot!!

We can kill him with 1 group, but I'd say the average raid of lvl 58-65 would need 2-3 groups. And no, he doesnt drop the BP every time, or even most of the time ;)

As a player of a 52 warrior, a 21st Pally and a 31st Ranger I finally have to through my two cents into something. This seems to be a very good breastplate. However as far as Rangers go. I do not think they should be able to equip this or any other plate. A ranger is not supposed to be the kind of class to walk in deal damage where only the plate classess dare tread. I am getting a bit tired of hearing all the classes say they should get this or that. The warriors need to finally get some love from SOE. To think that beserker rage which is only good as your beginning to plot your escape route before you appear at your bind point is our defining class skill is a bit ridiculous. We the proud warrior types have next to no warrior only items. Yes there are a few but very very few. With the exception of crippling blows and beserker rage we have no true unique skills. The ranger epics are far superior to the warriors who have to kill 2 dragons to even receive. To give rangers all the plate and items they seem to want would be to finally remove the warriors once and for all from the game. Rangers outdamage warriors as it is as their speed and weapons make for awesome DPS its a good thing. But they are counterbalanced by their lower ac and hp that keep them from being a true Tank. I could complain all day that the warriors get sword with ratios such as the paladins and rangers. But I choose not to. I decided to play a warrior and I enjoy it and enjoy the knowledge that my job is to be the thin line between the mob and the casters. I might not be able to deal out the big eyepopping damage but someone has to be there to take the hits and give the casters and other classess time to kill the mob. And that is the one and only thing a warrior brings to a group is the ability to shield other people. To give all the ac rich items to the other classess would be to as I said finally make the warrior and all of us who enjoy playing them obsolete.

First off, high lvl Rangers don't do damage with their "insane" Dmg/Dly ratios, they do it with their bow. Secondly, all classes need AC, because some of you Warriors don't have agro-getting weapons. If you die, who's going to tank next? The Paladin with only 900 AC, because all the Warriors get big AC items? Also, Rangers can't even wear this BP, so why are you posting under this forum? Anyway, I guess my point is, why should only warriors be able to get high AC items, or high HP items...

Anarus, I think you missed my point. The point I was trying to get across was that what the above poster was saying, or at least what I thought he was saying was that you need to give all high AC and high HP items to the Warriors. I know that by the time they reach Vindi they will be well over 900 AC. My point is, if the warriors have all of the AC in a raid, if one, or a few go down who is going all the high AC and HP items to the warriors, basically means the Pallys and SK's don't have as much HP and AC as they should at that lvl, not permitting them to tank a mob like Vindi. The 900 AC may have been a little bit of an exaggeration. I apoligize.

Hmm, don't know about the pally having over 900ac before they raid vindi thing. Last time we took down vindi, the BP dropped, and the PALLY who got it, replaced a crustacean BP, if I remember correctly.

Honestly, for a guild to take down Vindi, you DON'T need all your tanks to have high ac, etc. Just the MT. Our MT has about 8k hp and over 1400ac fully buffed, which isn't impressive by todays standards, I suppose, but more than enough for Vindi.

Unless someone botches the CH chain, the AC of the other tanks shouldn't really matter.

Yes, it will stack. Multiple Aura of Battles will stack with each other, but not two click-able types (since you can only have one AoB icon up).
Vindi BP vs. SS BP
# Jan 21 2003 at 3:48 PM Rating: Decent
For a warrior who maxes str, agi, dex but still needs stamina in a raid, which would you rather have: Chestplate of Vindication or Breastplate of the Myrmidon? Looking for positive advice please.
RE: Vindi BP vs. SS BP
# Aug 27 2003 at 12:32 PM Rating: Default
Personally, I'd go with Vindi just for the resists. Unless you really need the AC from Myrmidon, which most Warriors tanking Vindi probably won't (I believe the Vellious soft-cap is 1250, which isn't hard to hit).

Basically it depends on what you need. I'm not a prime tank in my guild anymore. Resists are more beneficial to me now than AC since I don't tank on most raids.

I am not one to say that all are wrong but just think of something. If you don't go to HoT to get SS armor it is a great BP for the stats alone. I am a lvl 58 CLeric and unbuffed my wis is maxed at 255 (no KEI). I love this BP just for the effect and the SV's. I ma now at 165 sv magic and that in it's self is great for a cleric. My clod and fire ressit is over 150's also. This to me makes it a good BP for you cleric to better servive some hits from casting vermon. Then we can be there to save the rest of you.

This has gone to a Cleric in my guild. Mainly because we kill Vindi and Statue so often that every other class that could use it more that were present for the raid already had it or better.

Hi , Sk here

If your capable of taking down Vindi, then your more than capable of farming HoT(ToV) for Skyshrine quested armor, which is far better than Vindi BP imo (atleast for most people). My guild took down Vindi for the first time today and this BP dropped, it was immediatly awarded to a shaman (hp=mana for shammys)

The only way i can really see this going to a tank class before a shaman is if your in a very large guild and the line for SS drops is way too long, but my guild has about 20 people total (including multi-boxers) and we have very few plate classes (1sk,1war,1pally,1bard,3clerics). atm i only have Thurg bp, but the only thing that the vindi bp would ever be for me is fancy resist gear, but my hp's are so high that resists aren't all that major a deal for me, plus my resists are comming along better with each SS peice i equip. i have my SS legs, and have first dibs on the next SS, so perhaps i'm in a better position to say this.

As far as clerics getting this, i would think that farming the plate cycle in KD is a better alternative, though the resits and hp's would help keep clerics alive in AoE Mob fights (such as in ToV and DN boss dragon, can't think of his name atm), where clerics are constantly getting pounded on by AE's

Of course its all arguable, but if your in an ultra large zerg style guild, i could see this being awarded to tanks first to cut down on the time it would take to get everyone equiped, but if your in a resonable sized guild or smaller, then this should probably first go to shamans and then clerics, then goto whoever would just like to have one for resists/bragging rights

RE: cleric bp?
# Apr 12 2003 at 5:59 PM Rating: Decent
Um Vindi BP is better than the warrior SS and Kael BP's. Sure the AC may be lower but this has more sta/hp than either of those and also the resists are damn useful especially when most guilds that are taking vindi down are in the stage of doing WToV/HoT and going to NToV. The only reason I'd think it may not be as good for a pal/sk would just be because your losing the +mana but I know that the sta/hp and resists would kill the SK nad pally Kael or SS bp's, maybe just a little lower AC.

Well hrmmm Shaman = chain class

Rogue/Ranger = chain class

I would just like to know why Shaman can wear this and the rogues and rangers can't. We got shafted again. This is arguably the best shaman BP in game 15 stam, 100hps and AoB. at level 60 if you dont have max stam with this BP gives 161 HPs plus 2hp regen per tik. If I played a shaman I would shoot for this. If rangers and Rogues could wear the 10 ATTK makes it just an outstanding DMG dealing BP. To bad shaman are the only chain class to wear it
RE: shafted
# Aug 22 2002 at 1:48 PM Rating: Decent
All of the Shaman class drop/quest armor pre Velious are plate. Ie. Totemic, Hate, Kunark. In fact new (better) hate drops were added for Iksar Shaman since they couldn't wear plate (it was supposed to be one of thier disadvantages, uh huh).

Shaman were somehow sort of turned into a chain class after that it seems because of their ugly lizard regening brothers.
RE: shafted
# Aug 27 2002 at 8:47 AM Rating: Default
Well, just to clarify, other than the old-world Ivy Etched Armor for Rangers (chain). The Fear (Thorny Vine)Armor and Kunark (Tolan's) armor for Rangers are both plate too.

RE: shafted
# Dec 12 2002 at 11:10 PM Rating: Decent
As the names suggest, both Tolan's Darkwood and Thorny Vine armor are not metal. They retain the characterstics of plate (being made of large continuous pieces rather than being comprised of hundreds of small linked pieces) but are wood nonetheless.

At any rate, it's all aethetic. Most of the time though, plate armor has more ac than chain armor. That's not to say 1 'plate' ac is greater than 1 'chain' ac. At any rate, I do believe rangers/rogues should get to use this BP purely out of balance/itemization. Rangers esepcially are lacking in BP's area when making the transition from Old Planar/Kunark to End game, the only selection we have are Quested Armors, a smattering of Various BPs (Wicked Mail being the most notable).
RE: shafted
# Oct 26 2002 at 6:22 PM Rating: Excellent
I think even Mrylokar's shows up as black plate for Rogues. Shamans have always kind of walked the plate/chain line. I think they were originally intended to be a chain class until the mid-level armor sets were implemented (Ro, Ivy Etched, Crafted, etc.) Most of the young'uns don't even realize those weren't part of the original game, but I digress :) Since then, Shamans have been low-level chain classes, and high-level plate classes. Those identities are really loose anyway, as it all gets fuzzed up in the endgame. All they really serve for is giving first-timers an idea of where they will stand as they level up; an example for you:

Clerics/Paladins/Shadowknights/Warriors/(To an extent, bards)-- "Plate" Classes. Supporting Classes; Defensive Classes; designed to take a bit of a beating and come out laughing. Less inclined to physical damage-dealing, with the exception of the warrior, who is strong enough to overcome the limitations of wearing plate armor.

Rogues/Rangers/Shamans-- "Chain" Classes. Offensive Classes; Offensive Support Classes; Minor Defensive Classes. More dextrous and agile than plate classes, greater freedom of movement, and thus more inclined to offensive tactics and abilities.

Monks/Beastlords/Druids-- "Leather" Classes. This is where the system breaks down a bit, but these classes are more inclined to offense than the "Chain" level classes, but not for any single reason. Monks are the most agile and dextrous, and are capable of complex evasion and martial arts, granting them natural defensive mobility that "Chain" and "Plate" classes can't match. Beastlords are equally unrestrained, but have spellcasting to enhance their offensive skills. Druids fall in the middleground, with poor physical combat skills, but exceptional diversity in casting abilities

Magicians/Enchanters/Necromancers/Wizards-- "Cloth" Classes. Damage Support; Offensive abilitiles reliant on casting. Nuff' said :)

As characters approach the endgame, their classes seem to 'graduate' to the next level of combat ability. Shamans seem to do this earlier than others, because their early-game offensive abilities tend to progress more slowly than their augmentation and defensive abilities (referring to spells more than anything) so they become a "Plate" level class early on. Rogues and Ragners dance on this line as they hit their highest levels, but it still seems fairly fuzzy.

Monks and Beastlords are the biggest exceptions to this rule, as they never truely graduate to "Chain" class status, but their abilities don't lack, regardless. (Especially Iksar)

So in the end, the early-game armor restrictions tend to mean less and less, and the circle that your particular class fits in starts to mean more and more. You find your groove, and your character remains there until VI decides to make you more important ;)

Sorry for the length, but it took a while to get my points accross.
# Aug 20 2002 at 2:30 AM Rating: Decent
This BP is an overall better BP then a Breastplate of Erradication. The reason being is that the stat difference on the BoE isn't that much of a bonus, plus the better resists on the Vindi BP plus the AoB makes this a more common choice to Warlods then BoE.
Rocking shaman bp
# Aug 09 2002 at 4:57 AM Rating: Decent
I got one of these a couple of weeks ago, and I can tell you it is a rocking shaman bp, arguably the best bp for shaman in the game pre-vex thal. At lvl 60 the 15sta and 100hp=145 total which is about one cast of cannibalize iv. Regen is also always great for shaman.. Personally if I had to decide this would be shaman first simply because for the other classes it's wearable there are great bp's especially with the new crafted armour. It isn't an absolute shaman item though as it is also very good for hybrids. My loot order would be shaman-hybrid-warrior-cleric (cleric would only wear this for resists). Of course it doesn't really matter who gets it first as Vindi is an 8 hour pop and you can get one for everyone :)

I wear this bp 90% of the time unless I know I'm likely not going to take any hits in which case I wear my wicked mail bp for the nearly 300 mana it gives me.

This bp is better if you raiding and your the Main Tank. Your Champions is better if your just exp in a normal group. In raids you need hitpoints, stats done matter. Besides you have a shaman that can max out alot of your stats anyways. In a exp group stats play more into your dps and how much exp you can get an hour. Not all the time do you have a stat buffer.

Most of these I see go to Shamans, because they need the AC and resists and the Regen is nice too. SK gets nice use out of these for AC STA HP Resists, the Regen can offset Lich a bit and its NICE EVIL BLACK! Palys Don't seem to want these, as they hold out for TOV BP drops like Clerics and Warriors. Good for Bards too though some might not like the 25 wieght and no STR. Grats to anyone gets one.

every high level bard i've talked to say Regen and HP are the way to go for bards. Most wouldn't care about the lack of STR - that only really effects melee - and any bard high enough to get one of these shouldn't be melee'ing much. :)

Warriors (or pallys/SKs for that matter) would do better to get a breastplate of eradication from the statue of rallos zek (often killed on same raid as vindi) than their ToV BP. It's quite amazing with 100hp, 20sta, 8svAll, 55ac, and some lesser stats to boot; often reguarded as the best melee bp out there. ToV BP's are for clerics/bards IMO.

thats true that wars pals n SKs would do better with a erad BP, but from what i know the statue is a lot harder than vindi, and isnt often killed on the same raid. the other factor is that erad bp is rare, and warriors will get it before a pal/shad. but then again i could be wrong, im new to the uber raiding thing :)
