Leave the newb non-high ac peoples alone
# Apr 05 2001 at 7:31 PM Rating: Decent
Everyone knows the reason why "people" (NOT monks, any non-high ac class would do it) shout out that items like this are for monks! But their just not thinking it through the whole way. I think most of them realize that although an items would be good on another class that can use it, a monk WOULD benefit MORE, unless of course he has better than the other person at which point it would be an even roll!
Example:
This drops, and only 2 of the classes there can use it, a 53 monk and a 52 warrior. They both already have a non-back haste item and a polar bear cloak. But this warrior WOULD have almost TWICE the hp AND ac! It's clear that the monk needs it more. do YOU want to have your groups monk die pulling? Or would you rather just have a warrior pull?...

I still want you to think for yourself, this is just an opinion that you should consider. Now on to the actuall item! I think that a Ranger or Monk would be most deserving of this cloak, depending on your situation. Very nice item too.

Warrior would get great benefit from good AC and +HP, both of which they need for tanking.

53 war and 52 monk won't get this, they aren't high enough to work against the new CT.

Warrior would get great benefit from wearing shield in back slot, shut up and bash, taunt and keep cleric alive.

Me B4$H!
Shut up plz.

OK look i know you monks are happy with your nice little light weight stuff but the best monks are the ones who actually understand there are other names next to the Class not just monks. I have a warrior and i would love to have this item. I dont have anything against monks, its just that they think low weight = monk.
RE: Shut up plz.

umm reason monks always say hay low weight = monk is cause for armor monks have nothin. warriors at this level have back items that are equal if not alot better. best ac with low weight atm for monks is Cloak of Shadow's and btw that doesn't have str warriors at the least can have herophant cloak granite its not better then this one but its better then what monks have to deal with.:)
low weight != monk

Does anyone else out there find it humorous that every time an item with low weight comes out it is "meant" for monks. I mean HELLO, this is an awesome cloak for ANY melee.

It isn't humorous.

Low weight = Monk Item.

Other Melee Classes can get better.

Cloak of Falling Stars is better for Monks than this.

Hybrids should wear Shroud of Veeshan.
#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 04 2001 at 3:48 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This is THE back slot item for all of those classes.. You think they have better? Name something.. an Aegis over this? are you kidding? As a cleric I would MUCH rather have this.. 200 wis is no prob by the time you have this and 100! HP and +15 STA? sheesh

Lodizal shield is the best back slot item for any class that can use it, monk cant use it, but they can use this cloak. There will be cases where this could benefit a monk and another melee equally, but the fact that another melee could get better than this where a monk couldnt makes this primarily a monk item. the only other class i would say this is ideal for would be bard, because their lack of base hp, the 100 on this cloak would save their *** more often than the extra resists and ac on lodizal.

I'm a warrior and I am saying this. This item looks more like it came out for monks. I would use it, too. But I am saying that there is better for any of those other classes up there. Have to kill Cazic to get it? heh.
#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 05 2001 at 4:39 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You know, if it was meant for monks, why are there other classes listed up there right along with monk? Hmmmmmm? Look at the stats, any melee would ***** themselves off to the lorf of plague himself to wear this cloak.

Well... Pretty good for a Rogue or Bard, too.

There are better cloaks/back shields for Paladins, Rangers and Shadowknights out there, after all.
Ok....

Well... there may be better cloaks/back shields that exist in the game for paladins/rangers/shadow knights.... however, that doesn't mean that we all have them :)

My main is a Shadow Knight... level 51.. and you know what I have in my back slot? Lizardscale Cloak. Say what you want but if i was denied the ability to lotto for this cloak just because it had low weight and was beneficial to a monk, I'd be pretty ticked since it's an obvious upgrade for me.

This cloak would be awesome for any of the classes who can wear it who do not have better :)

#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 03 2001 at 10:39 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Why does every item with low or no weight get called by monks? This is good for all avail classes, the weight means a monk would actually want it.
#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 04 2001 at 6:51 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Its the same reason why when an item comes out that is availible for someones class and the player doesnt like it they complain about verant.

For paladins and clerics I would say Aegis of life would be a nice substitute for this.

I do agree. Someone above said that Aegis doesn't hold a candle, that Wisdom is easy to come by at the level required to get this. The statement that wisdom is easy to come by is true, the conclusion that this is better for clerics is IMHO not a good one. The Aegis is part of the reason that Wisdom is easy to come by at that level. That +10 Wis is a huge hit. By the time I reach 55 I expect to be running around with a Sarnak Battle Shield rather than my CGS. I'll probably have a pair of 6/65 rings rather than my +7 Wis rings. That's far more AC than the cloak gives me. and the HP on the rings alone is more. Would prefer to wear the Aegis over this to keep my Wis at 200. Great piece, yes, but better used on a melee with belt or weapon haste.

#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 03 2001 at 10:09 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Bah, Im still wearing a lizzie cloak as a 48 ranger.....I think this is just like the brain and necklace: a great item for all classes mentioned. Loot rules are gonna get bent, twisted, and thrown to hell with these items
