Caster or Melee?
# Dec 06 2001 at 9:11 PM Rating: Default
this isn't made for a tank in anyway shape or form no matter what ne1 thinks except hybrids, (which casters should and DO have first lotto on this for a reason) when your raiding you want your casters regaining mana faster not realizing that all the primal/pricless velium bows have better stats for a melee and are easier to come by =P give these kinda items to clerics/dr00ds/(shammies dun need =P)/ wizzies/ and mages, there is a reason those are th classes that lotto on these, btw whoever said enchanters dun need cha, you either don't play a chanter or don't play one very well....

price & proc?
# Oct 18 2001 at 9:14 PM Rating: Default
what exactly does the proc on this do??
RE: price & proc?
# Oct 28 2001 at 9:05 PM Rating: Default
1. It's not a proc (procs are the fancy colours that suddenly lights up cause you are hitting a mob), but effect. Effects are either right-clickable (used like a spell of sorts) or they are permanent (i.e you don't have to do anything to start it). This is a permanent effect like that.

2. "Flowing Through I" gives wielder 1 extra mana per tick; compared to Clarity II which gives you a max of 11 mana per tick. One tick is about 6 seconds.

Hope this helps, your truly:

Chanters and CHA
# Oct 05 2001 at 7:59 PM Rating: Good
It's sort of been decided that although forever we've been hearing how important CHA is to an enchanter, it's really not all that important. When you go shopping, take this off and cast the "I Love You" spells on yourself and your merchants. When in battle, cast Tashan-series prior to Charm. You'll never miss the CHA. Most chanters know this now. Some do not.
It's All/All
# Aug 26 2001 at 2:27 PM Rating: Decent
This item is good for everyone. The only negative is -25 CHA. So some people say then no enchanters why would they want this? Guess what for all the same reasons everyone else does. Currently depending on the situation with charisma buff I'm at around 250 charisma and it can be 255. With just one item from either Siren's Grotto or Sleeper's Tomb I could eat the -25 charisma and still be around 250 charisma. So if you aren't in the position of getting these items STFU. Thank You.

Not neccesarilary caster item though most casters would kill you for letting this go to anyone else nore is anyone going to get it for a while that isn't a casters cuz of FT1
RE: It's All/All
# Oct 28 2001 at 9:02 PM Rating: Default
FT doesn't mean a thing on this item. one extra mana per tick?? What is that compared to the stats? Nothing.

#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 30 2001 at 1:33 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) WRONG this can be used by Chanters but because of the negative charisma its not very reccomended unless you are uber in that area also, this is uber for druid and pretty much any class who couldnt use the 100 hp and mana? plus the int will help with many tradeskils and the wisdom will help with those tight situations where someone just is a bit to low on mana to cast a spell normally heh (the first chance i get im breaking into the planes and gonna blow this guys BRAIN out and take it heh.)..................

"While this item is fairly uber for every class, (except for me... [chanter] I'd rather have an empty range slot than this in there...)"

Ack!! You'd rather have an empty slot than lose 25 CHA while adding the rest of these stats?? OMG. PEOPLE. It's important that this message reach the eyes and ears of any passing Enchanter. I'll even type it in all caps, only to show that I stand behind these words, and always will (unless Verant changes something)...

CHARISMA IS NOT IMPORTANT, EVEN TO AN ENCHANTER.

Why?

CHA affects two things:

1) The way you con to an NPC -and-
2) The likelihood of a Charm spell *landing* (it does not however effect the duration of a Charm spell)

So let's cover this:

1) NPC Con. Easy enough. Take this off before you go shopping. Put on the appropriate illusions. Cast your various faction improving spells. Cast CHA spells on yourself. Case closed.

2) Charming. The effect lower CHA has on charming is absolutely minimal. And as EVERY GOOD CHANTER should know, have your Tash line UP at all times, and even this minimal nerf on Charm becomes a moot point.

I reckon through the ages there has been many an enchanter who has let an item go due to a decrease in CHA. The poster who said they'd rather have an empty slot than this item... well, I am very very sorry but that is pure i*n*s*a*n*i*t*y.

Anyway. If you don't take my word for it, go to any good Chanter-only webpages. CHA is overrated and most good high-level chanters know this now.
RE: I hope...
# Dec 10 2001 at 9:51 AM Rating: Default
high charisma does affect mezz efficiency

as for the way NPC cons it depends on faction (and chanters have faction boost spells (alliance and benevolence)). Illusions can help in some way (most famous is amulet of necropotence that enables goodies to trade in evil cities)

as a rule for any chanter, first thing is level of mob versus level of chanter then Magic resist from the mob/npc then the amount of charisma from the chanter

If this should go to a melee, then a Cloak of Piety should go to a caster....
Melee get Haste items
Casters get mana regen items
Sure, hybrids could use the mana regen.....Just like a druid or shammy could use a haste item....

#Anonymous, Posted: Jul 25 2001 at 4:03 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) first off i agree this should be merited but i know some guilds that just let people roll....saw this goto an enchanter a couple months ago...wtf would a chanter want with this? is the - cha really worth the int? and if your high enough to take down this mob shouldnt you have had 200 int already? personally i think it should go to tank classes that typically have heavier armor but in all honesty this is a GREAT item for anyone to have cept chanters imo its a good way to get resistances up ect anyway..just my 2 cp..
RE: blah
# Oct 05 2001 at 8:18 PM Rating: Good
LOL yes the -cha is WAY worth the int, the mana, the str, the ... everything about this item. charisma is pretty unimportant. even to an enchanter, it really only effects if a charm spell lands. that's about it. in shopping situations chanters can control their faction standing.

somewhere along the lines, some fool must have posted ENCHANTERS NEED HIGH CHARISMA!!!!! over and over and over because there are still people who believe it is the end-all stat for a chanter. it's not. it's bearing on life is minimal.

just FYI
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 18 2001 at 9:11 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) God, some of you are so ******* clueless. My guild takes this god down every chance we get. This is not a mob where you roll for ****. First of all, you need to be high enough lvl to even have an opinion, if youre not 55+, shut up. Second, you DO NOT roll for stuff like this. It is awarded to you by the guild leader. If you come to an open raid on a god and this btw pretty much never happens but in case it does, then roll but when youre in a guild, you NEVER roll for things like this or pretty much anything. All 3l33t gear is awarded to you. Flame me all you want but the lvl 50+ people here will agree with me

# Jul 09 2001 at 1:50 PM Rating: Decent
Personally, I think this is made for both casters AND tank classes, with several xeptions.
It has Str+Con+AC+100hp these are tank abilities (no dex or agi though, which makes it less good for Rogue/monk - let me say though, it HAS 10 str and it weights 10 hint hint so the weight is rejectable as it NOT being good for a monk) anyway it also has 10wis 10int 100mana which make it a good caster item
lastly it has a proc (don't know what it does yet, gonna check it out in a sec) which seems caster-based to me, but that's just me though
Merited
# Jun 19 2001 at 4:05 PM Rating: Excellent
Ever hear of meriting loot? Try it, it saves time and arguement. When first introduced to it I thought it blew, I mean here I am on a raid giving my all for a chance at maybe getting a roll on a Valorium drop ( there are only so many fetid fiends ya know) and then Cazic goes down and drops Uber loot and a coupla items are merited to the guild members of the guild that planned and organized the raid. At first I was like WTF? then I thought about it and it makes sense, because without the Organizers doing the raid I would have never been there in the first place. Besides most folks in nice enough to give out loot on a raid on a need before greed basis and only allowing 1 win on an item for your class till all in your class have a rare etc. Seems the most equitable way to do things. Same thing for all raids specialy dragons, those of you Paladins who are still trying to get your books know all to well the frustration at them not dropping or having the Vox book go to a caster for thier epic. But hey ya know if ya realy want an Item get together with your guild and plan a raid. Everyone I know goes along with the meriting system, specialy cause some items IF they drop are realy hard to get and often folks give up on getting them after a while. And as for this thing you guys have for saying such and such is a better item for (insert your class here) it may or may not be, but if it drops and is not merited to raid leader, main assist or someone who needs a rare for epic etc. it should be open to all who can use for a random. Just don't waste time bickering or 1) You might not get invited on another raid 2) You might get flamed from here and back 3) It may just rot while ya are bickering (seen it happen before)

I have posted for many many neg cha items about this so here goes another one. :) Lower CHA does not help you land fear in any way shape or form. I am not even sure on this but I believe that lower CHA helps fear land on you. Not 100% sure on that one but I DO know that it does not help you land fear. I aught to know. :)

RE: this is all Sk's

/agree. lower charisma has no effect on your fear spells, nor higher charisma. its a straight up shot against magic resist. it has been exhaustively tested by a good many folks.

IMO this is for everyone except chanters(hmmm i think i'll mez this mob with the -25 cha...doh) and monks(hmm i'll just keep this 10lbls here) and as for it being just sk good idea, im sure no wis/int(except for chanters) casters would want the 10 int/wis or the 100 mana/hp, and what tank(other than monks) would want a free 10 ac/str/sta to add to their equipment......my solution have everyone except monks/chanters type /random 0 1000....

Actually this would be a fantastic weapon for an enchanter (I also play an enchanter). Charisma is really quite an unimportant battle statistic. The only thing it effects, and quite negligibly at that, is Charm. The lower the charisma, the less likelihood of getting Charm to stick. As some other posters have pointed out, above, it doesn't effect how long Charm lasts either. It doesn't effect Mez. It doesn't effect Fear. It doesn't effect any other spells.

Of course CHA is useful in shopping, but frankly any chanter can remove a neg CHA item and cast a host of spells that will make the merchant or mob love him or her.

This would be a fantastic item for *any* caster.

This is crazy, some Necros say that they LOVE having -CHA... most especially wonder why -CHA is given on many of the best Necro equip. Some believe that the -CHA is simply a role-playing aspect, but others argue that they held undead charms longer!
Verant has to explain this to us... everyone knows how CHA affects Bards or Enchanters, but they NEVER explain it to Necros and SK's... even pally's for that matter... but nobody cares about pallys

If you are always OOM, try sitting down. You don't sit in a fight? Odds are it is because people don't start dropping like flies when you go OOM. Perhaps it should go to someone that has people dying when they call "OOM!!! :(". i.e. A Cleric. Enchanters can take mana from caster mobs to regain mana, I have seen Enchanters mesmerizing an army of mobs in a long fight and have plenty of mana, while the healers were going OOM which resulted in an evac. Shamans have mana regens, and Druids just don't pack enough bang for the mana to be granted this item. Of all the classes other than the Clerics, I would have to say that Shamans have the highest claim to this item. If a guild were short on Shamans, but had plenty of Clerics around, the Shamans might get higher priority.
