#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 29 2002 at 9:13 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) O.K. I'm Only going to post this one time and imma post it here. To kill CT you are going ot need a good guild with high end members i.e. 58-60. When you do manage to kill CT and he falls first thing will happen is an officer will get on the corpse inform the guild of the drops. Unless you are a guild who lives in VT or Ntov and hunts nowhere else Yer guild leader will ask i.e. warr and monk send tell if ya want. Then he will decide from that list of X amount of tells who deserves the item and that will equally benifet the guild and then he will let those 3 or 4 people roll on the item.
RE: Loot and how it is awarded
# Jun 28 2003 at 6:26 AM Rating: Default
not every guild will distribute loot this way.
We for example have "brain on" system and it works well.

Our Mainlooter post the drop in the Raidtalk, everyone how can use it and think he needs it post his item in the Raidtalk.

After that the peoples who want the item just roll the numbers our Mainlooter say.

Most of the time people pass if they see that the item would be a bigger upgrade for an other one after he saw what they other linked in the Raidwindow.

We are not a guild in the Elemental planes, but we also aren't a "small" guild. We kill in NToV almost every week (depend how many dragons are up - last saturday we had 13 dragonkills :D), we kill the luclin bosses and Tier 1 bosses and we are farming the BoT Tower named at the momemt. We also killed CT a few times.

The lootsystem doesn't determine if a guild is big or not. Only cause a guild don't have a pointsystem in any form, this doesn't mean they don't get nice stuff :)

Every guild does loot differently. Some have points systems, some choose class random, some assign loot to members who need.

agree we have a loot council ..but i think they are changing it into a point system..so if you go on more raids you have more points ...to use on the item if you want it ..

I'm a 60 monk. Sadly, I will never get one of these now as I picked up a First Brood Talisman the other night. Give a choice this is clearly the better item for a monk, of the two.

Why is See Invis a bad thing?
# Jul 20 2002 at 4:33 PM Rating: Decent
Some people are posting as if the effect is a horrible addition to the item. Would you rather it have no effect at all? True it's not as usefull as right click Ice Comet or something but it's still great for a pure melee that get no spells. I just won this item today and up until I got it I always wore a Fingerbone Hoop. The stats suck on that earring but guess what, it has See Invis! See Invis is one of those buffs all classes need like Enduring Breath.

100pp says that every one of the people posting here about "this won't be randomed"

1. Is under 20
2. Is male
3. Has never even been to a Naggy raid

Yep, not everything in open to all classes that are capable of equiping it, but not all guilds use the "this goes to our primary puller" or "this goes to main tank" or whatever rule.

You are so wrong...
People who say awarding items is the right way to do it have actually BEEN in a high end guild who kills these mobs.
An item like this will not be lottoed, or be lottoed between 2 or 3 people who deserve the item.
Lottoing would mean it could end up going to someone who plays 1 hour a week or who is likely to be leaving the guild for a more uber guild in the future.
ALL high end guilds either award items or use a merit point system, never lotto.

erm not ALL do.

For example, the Alliance on Vazaelle does not award drops or go by a points system. NBG rolls work just fine for us. And while we may only just be starting on NoTV/HoT etc, that system won't be changing anytime soon.

But then again, the Alliance isn't about being hard-core. It's about giving it's members a shot at the stuff that the individual guilds may not be able to by themselves.

So, please don't make absolute statements about generalities that you simply can't back up. (You may wish to argue an alliance isn't a guild but really, is there any difference? imo, no there isn't)

Would hate to be in your guild. MT who always attends could possibly lose to a new member who was at their first raid.

/random for items in a guild only works on small raids (1-2 groups) otherwise, it just isn't really fair to everyone. Defaulting is even worse, DKP is the way to go. Get items for your involvement in the guild.

Actually, if you read close, I said Alliance, not a single guild.

And for the most part (there were exceptions) most people had the decency to defer on items like this to those it suiterd better.

So, random does work.

Sorry we can't all be part of hard-core raiding guilds. Some of us are just casual players.

Funny thing though, in my experience, it's the hard-core players who are the loot wh0res more often than the casual ones...

like this are in good ol' Alla's item description data base. Few questions first off ... how many guilds on YOUR server kill the new CT? How many of YOU people are involved on raids to kill CT with the guilds that CAN kill CT? Items on high end raids are generally distributed by worth and benefit towards the receiving class, and how inturn the guild benefits as a whole. Your local Naggy pickup raid is not gonna kill CT on its best lag free no LD MT lives day. EVER. This is looked at as a MONK item by all three of the top guilds on my server because they ALL use monks to pull the majority of their raids. Monks need all the HP/AC they can get due to high melee damage/casting mobs that they pull on these raids.

Another example is the First Brood talisman (quick go look up the stats, cause most of you have NO IDEA what I am refering to). In all 3 of these same guilds, this is a WARRIOR item, because you really cannot do any better than this neck as a warrior outside of NTOV drops and quest items. Until all warriors are outfitted with this neck, no other melee rolls. The GUILD as a whole benefits when individual toons are equipped to serve their role in guild better. Until you realize that .. you won't kill anything above pansy **** Naggy. You can now return to your regularly scheduled pipe dream.

This should not go to monks simply because they pulled CT or because they will make a huge upgrade to the guild simply because they have this item. That's like saying the person who pulled Yelinak autimatically gets his talisman. Seriously, this should go to the person who needs it most, whether they be in the raiding guild or just a person from another guild that wanted to go on a PoF raid. I'm not sure about looting systems and all that stuff and I admit that I probably never will (God knows how many of those systems exist on Bristlebane) but if one monk has got a silver disk for their neck slot and a paladin has a symbol of marr then I think by all fairness the paladin deserves this item. No offence to the monk...

RE: the only place you can find debates
# Jul 08 2002 at 5:49 PM Rating: Default
Well for one yelinak is rooted...and 2 the item is awarded due to them pulling THAT raid, but high end guilds for the most part who award loot(not dkp) DO deck out their monks first, and their main tanks, and their clerics. Not saying the other classes/people don't deserve the item just as much, but it is because these 3 classes are crucial to advance in the high end game. On a raid, monks are MEANT to get hit, that is why they need the highest HP/AC/RESISTS, if other classes are doing their jobs they won't be getting hit. During the actual fighting main tanks(warriors) are MEANT to get hit if the other people there are doing their jobs they won't be getting hit. And on raids clerics HAVE to have mana for the raid to survive, the other classes can stop castinf and med up, if the cleric runs oom the raid is over, whiped. Does it suck for other classes? Yes, but they won't be complaining when the guild advances faster and they are opened up to even phatter loots. And after all woot is awarded to how much it will help on a raid, not so an SK can tank better in an exp group, or a rogue can brag about their stats.

And no I am not saying all the phat loots will go to wars and monks and clerics first, but they tend to be favored in a smart guild due to how much it will help the guild. Hell the first time my guild got this item it went to a rogue..

And the statement 'I'm not sure about looting systems and all that stuff and I admit that I probably never will' shows that you do not have the knowledge to be making serious opinions about these subjects(of course you are entitled to post whatever you want) but don't expect it to be taken seriously if you have no knowledge backing it up.

Rock on.

Most of these people debating who this item should go to are not even part of a guild that could even attempt to go after this guy. If a Guild Leader from a top Guild saw some of these greedy posts, they probably would not even allow the posters to petition to get in. Its NBG and when you hunt gods need is about top item for class. This is Monk first easily, and see invis is great for a puller.

I would have to say that this would most likely go to a warrior or monk first since they can't cast at all, im not to sure about the hybrids being able to cast but for a warrior or monk this would be damn nice to have, espically in the higher level areas with the invis mobs. I really dont think the bards need the proc but the stats are nice and would help them too. They have the invis song that gives them invis and see invis and at 51 they have selo's song of travel (speed/levitate/invis/see invis).

# Apr 04 2001 at 10:30 AM Rating: Default
Always notice its the people with lvl 20 mains that always try to act like the mature one. I want you to go search for Neck items for monks and find the ones with low weight and great stats. Then look at the level requirments. Then do the same with bards and warriors and rangers. Notice they have better items. And they dont need to worry about weight. They can afford leeway with weigth whereas monks cant. Thats why this item is good for a monk. Go find another neck item with 15AC for monks that weigh under 1 pound. Then look at the HP and saves. This item screams monk so bad it hurts. So talk to me again when you get 46. See how easy it is to get monks gear. Then realize your flawed reasoning. Im not saying this isnt good for the other classes cause it is. But monks should get priority roll on it.
RE: Ever notice its always the lowbies
# Apr 04 2001 at 3:10 PM Rating: Default
Priority role? I have to assume you are kidding, as nearly everyone would want this item. What a fantastic item. I assume you play a monk. Just because it doesnt weigh much does not deliniate it as a monk preferred item.

You chose being a monk knowing the limitations. Live with it.

Definantly a nice item
# Apr 05 2001 at 12:11 PM Rating: Default
Even with a worthless non-PVP effect, you would have a hard time showing me a better neck item for a rogue or monk (or any other melee, actually).

On a PvP server, this is a priceless item. Unlimited charges or See Invisible? Man, I would sell my rogue's soul for one of these.
RE: Definantly a nice item
# Aug 18 2001 at 12:48 PM Rating: Default
See inviz is far from worthless. How many dragons have you fought? How many dispelling mobs have you tackled? Have you ever heard of the concept of junk buffs? Who wants Aegilism dispelled as the first thing to go? Or Avatar (for you bards with your epic)? See Invis is the quintessential junk buff, because it can generally be cast by items with no mana cost.
This item, among several others, falls into the classification of "highly desirable by many classes" (including monks). If it were meant for monks only, it would have one class allowed. On a quick search for items with high str and dex (two stats that are at the top of my want list), this one comes out near the best. I'm not gonna sit out the lotto on this one just cuz a monk says GIMME!.

Haven't you ALREADY sold your Soul? now, be fair, you can't sell it twice :)

Dang Rogues..

But I agree this is a phenominal item.
From the standpoint of a Monk, I love the item, the AC boost alone is worth a drool or two, low weight, nice melee stat boosts, and an extra 100 hitpoints. And the fact that it can be worn on neck or Waist gives it a nice versitility.

From the standpoint of a Ranger, I love the item, I mean seriously, what Ranger would turn down an extra 100 Hitpoints?

And so what if the effect on the item is of little use, personally, I have no charater that can Cast See Invisible, and sometimes (though maybe rarely) there is a use for that. It could be worse.. It could summon Water...

Never played PvP, so I have no input on that, but I can imagine seeing Invis in that environment is pretty much life saving.

Thank you, and although I play a monk as my main, I also love rangers, rogues, and bards... and IMHO this is a great bard item because of the dex 0-: . I would like to also encourage others to give their own reasons for why it's best for a certain class! Thnx again!

#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 03 2001 at 10:14 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Us monks can say whatever the hell we want cause we make great planar pullers when we know what were doing.....and no one has to give a reason why an item is good for a class......but you want on ok....Weight....look at that weight....look at the saves....look at the Ac...look at the Hp...look at the effect....all those things monks gotta love....and there are prolly better items available for bards out there anyway.....ever take a look at the selection of monk neck gear...you should....not too mnay sweet items. But hey you wanted reasons I gave them to you.

Same reasons go for rogues, and even rangers (although I think they get see invis, correct me if I'm wrong) the combination of ac/hp plus the str/dex, last but not least the resists would actualy help these folks survive bossmob fights.

what is all this talk of lotto's??? don't you people award things? i would NEVER roll for an item like this, that is just plain ghetto. high level guilds on my server award things. if it were found out that one of them rolled for an item, they would become the laughing stock of the server. the only time any guild would EVER roll is if one player got equal looting rights as another play from the oficers. then the two would have to roll, other than that...unheardof.

The resists are vital, the extra HP's a plus. It's nice to see an item that rogues can cast invis with. Well not cast, but click for the effect. Even if you travel with classes that can cast see invis, it gets tedious. Casters need those few slots they have for more important spells like charm, root, snare; dot, nuke, stun. This choker would lift the burden of memorizing see invis off the caster in a group, and the rogue doesn't have to worry about where he is in relation to the group, assuming the rogue can target the group and click on the effect.

The bracer that you are referring to is the Bracer of the Hidden (AC6, no other stats). It also has clickable See Invisible, and its usable by all/all. You have to put it on to click the effect, and you CAN cast it on others.

It's dropped by Sarnak Legionaires in the Lake of Ill Omen (and possible elsewhere, though I'm not sure of that).

One more thing - it's ridiculously rare. In my experience, it's JUST as rare as a Sarnak Earring of Station. I spent levels 19-30 mainly in the Lake, and I saw exactly ONE of each. But hey, at least you don't have to kill a God to get it...
