Faction

This may not always be great for most situations, but it is a HUGE help when factioning for those classes who don't get/have not yet gotten an AE.
Berzerker Usable
# Sep 09 2004 at 8:02 PM Rating: Decent
This weapon is also Berzerker usable. I put it on my dwarven/Berz to twink him out.
j just got it
# Aug 21 2003 at 8:41 PM Rating: Decent
I just bought this in HhK for 65pp off of a shammy that was undoubtably hurting for cash. I obviously got the better end of the deal. I'm currently a lvl 24 shmmy. And most of you are right, great twinkie! Anyway. just wanted to say that I love it.
About the Effect
# Aug 23 2002 at 7:21 AM Rating: Decent
The effect does damage the wielder of this weapon. With the -30 to poison, makes it harder to resist your own damage.

150ft area; it's possible to not get hit by the 2nd/3rd wave if you back up a few.

This is a very nice weapon for my Shaman. Will not proc until level 50 so I don't have to worry about the poison AOE for a while (Level 35 atm). If I am not using my spear/shield combo - I use this to put some serious hurt on the mob. Add a FBSS, Quickness Spell, and Frenzy to the mix and U have a fast damage dealer for those times when U are duoing with your pet.

Reminds me of my Beastlord 's Adamantite Bo Stick. Procs a 3 wave firestorm that can inflict a total of 225dd on opponent and wielder. I used it for 10 levels (level 30 to 40) and was caught in the full storm only twice. I usually caught around 50dmg, while backing up, and my warder kept the aggro centered on him. Makes a very fast kill, with high dexterity, and the AOE proc is excellent when fighting mobs that like to run away or stay just out of arms reach (When U R tall, Vah Shir, everything looks too far away)

Looks kinda ghetto. Quite like a Velium Etched Stone Mace if you ask me. Similar, at the very least.

Bah, I think it's fun, stuff like that.
Warhammer, anyone?
# Jul 16 2002 at 10:05 AM Rating: Decent
Strikes me as being very similar to a certain weapon carried by Skaven. If not.... identical. ;)
its not bad actually
# Oct 06 2001 at 8:41 PM Rating: Decent
Its actually a pretty good weapon if you are using ae tactics on a raid. Even with the -30 poison resist, if you get DMF and talisman of shadoo on you, you can get your PR well over 100. With PR that high, the weapon does very little damage to you.

Also, like stated, its a nice twink weapon.
A suicidal weapon
# Jun 20 2001 at 3:59 AM Rating: Default
With -30 poison resist, you are just gonna kill yourself when it procs. Plus, no one in the right mind would use a weapon that procs an AOE spell. You WILL GET YOUR WHOLE PARTY KILLED because AOE breaks chanter's mezzes.
RE: A suicidal weapon
# Sep 11 2003 at 9:03 PM Rating: Decent
BAH HUMBUG! I like Wolveran's post, thank you. I want to add one more sugestion. Even when you are fighting mobs that aren't large enough so that you don't get hit, it is often feasible to take a step back after the 1st round of the proc hits you (or you resist it) thereby removing you from the AE radius -- but not the mob you are fighting. As Wolveran stated, this is certainly a situational type of strategy, but potentially a highly worthwhile one. This may even be feasible in a group setting if either your absense for aproximatly 17 seconds from the melee situation is non-significant or you are MT and have created an agro level that causes the mob to follow you the one or two steps and continues to be engaged with you.

BTW: I'm using this to twink my froggie cleric and he's a melee monster with it.

Only a suicidal weapon if you have someone mezzing. In a perfect Norrath I guess there would be an Enchanter/Bard in every group, but alas, Norrath ain't perfect. I just got out of a group in Karnors that broke down like this...
52Warr(MA) 53Monk 51Monk 52Cleric 54 Ranger (Me) 51Pally, grouped up in the DogTower(Captain spawn area). Adds were all Tanked Down, or root parked. Made me wish i hadn't sold my sword of skyfire 5 levels ago. AoE Proc weapons are situational, no doubt about that, but add an interesting new edge to the groups you join. If you are a MT type tank class, aoe procs can ensure that you keep the aggro even on adds. If you're not a MT style fighter (hense me being a ranger) they help you refine your abilities to check your aggro, and help you to learn distancing (Many a forest giant was soloed with my Sword of Skyfire <3waves of 56 Aoe rain proc> with me never getting hit by the proc).

Aoe Weapons are powerful, in the right situation, in others they can be very deathly to you and your party. If you prefer to be one of those "turn on autoattack and watch the TV" melee types, then enjoy boring yourself to death while grinding exp. If you like to keep throwing new twists into the mix, pick up a Skyfire, or a Poison wind censor, and the next time the situation allows it, experiment(just not on a raid for gods sake ;)

With a good Dex buff and resist poison buff to counter the neg30 debuff, a good cleric (maybe two), and no enchanter or bard available for crowd control, you could take out and keep agro on three or four mobs if this procs often enough. Definitely a situational weapon and one you'll only use in a single specific situation in your entire EQ life...but its only suicidal if you make it your main 2hb
RE: A suicidal weapon
# Jul 05 2001 at 4:24 AM Rating: Decent
it's a great twink weapon too... heh.. not suicidal for them.. it doesnt proc until 50, so in the meantime you have a 20/28 2hb weapon to smack stuff with...
RE: A suicidal weapon
# Sep 06 2001 at 12:39 AM Rating: Decent
Not to mention that it is a low delay 2hb... Very nice for twink to train skills =P

Just my 2cp.

What a worthless pile of crap this thing is. We were camping the necro the other night and our cleric had one of these and kept using it. He seemed to think he was making a real difference even though he was about killing himself. Frickin' moron
RE: WOW
# Jun 14 2002 at 11:23 PM Rating: Good
Bah, let him use it. Not everyone can take this game seriously all the time. Its perfectly ok to go insane sometimes. Just accept that it happens sometimes and that person is just trying to have fun.

Delith
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 10 2002 at 3:48 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Well people who are going to have fun like that should do it elsewhere. No one likes to die in high lvl places and have a CR take forever. You must realize, although this spell can deal out some damage you can't enter an HP war of attrition with an NPC, they simply will always have way more HP than you.
nice
# Apr 28 2001 at 6:27 AM Rating: Good
Since it procs at 50 it would be a nice twink item.
RE: nice
# Aug 10 2003 at 9:03 AM Rating: Decent
this is a killer twink weapon. i just bought it for my 5th Shaman (ok sooner or later i gotta find one i like). i am a 24 troll witchdoctor on lanys, anyway, i was doing ok with a Slime Coated Harpoon and a Sporestrand Shield (for mana) while hunting fiends in Paludal. then i heard about this thing. sold all my low level twink gear at bazaar over the last weekend and even sold my Dark Reaver (yeah i had a sk too) to a vender for 9pp (ouch). yep all told i paid 700pp for it and it is worth every penny. i smack bandits for 40-43 each and with 28 delay i hit hard and fast. add in an Affliction and they are down quick and i dont need no stinkin group. all hail Bautox, the pretty one. i can now solo whites and yellows again. a root rot and then smash and bash and i'm lootin your funky sweaty blood dreched corpse. anyhow it's all fun and games now. we'll see what happens when i get to 50 and have to dodge the poison waves. till then, the XP train continues.
RE: nice
# Aug 25 2003 at 12:10 PM Rating: Decent
just an update. just dinged 30 and with quickness, tagars insects, and a dose of envenomed breath, I solo Everything. i average hit for 46 (high was 56) and i usually get off at least 2 shots for every hit i take. bear form and regen help too. i am GOD with this thing only problem is my poison resist is at -5 (who cares.)
RE: nice
# Oct 07 2003 at 8:31 AM Rating: Decent
Still stompin the guts out of mobs, but noticing that they hit much harder now at 34. btw Shammy pet does suck(in case you didn't know). Finding that a shaman with wis of 119 is not a shaman at all - it's a BeastLord without a chance. anyhow got my wis up to 151 and finding that at 34 i dont want to use this thing anymore. considering getting a tarnished driveshaft +wis and +sv vs poison and + ac. not as fast but does hit harder. i still get off shots for 62 with the censer though. great for finishing giant scouts in GD. we'll see how it goes. can't wait till epic. DEFINITELY wont be using this thing at 50 when it procs but i'll try to eek out a few more levels will i get the 450pp for the driveshaft. working on armor upgrades now.

Poisons you too!
# Jan 29 2001 at 11:46 AM Rating: Default
Yeah, nice weapon.
Note that it procs an AE poison spell and REDUCES your poison save by 30! Sheesh, this is one of the cursed weapons of Kunark that was discussed a while ago.
RE: Poisons you too! - incorrect
# Mar 01 2001 at 10:46 PM Rating: Default
this weapon does not effect party members or the caster on normal servers, can't speak about pvp though.
RE: Poisons you too! - incorrect
# Jun 15 2001 at 10:47 AM Rating: Default
Obviously you dont have the spell, it effects those within an area, you, all caster pets, and the mob.
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 03 2001 at 4:22 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) It does hit the caster, thats why its called a "AE spell"
