Proper Use
# Jun 03 2001 at 7:53 PM Rating: Good
I almost fell into the "suicide stick" hoopla and sold mine. I am glad I didnt now. The Adiminite Bo is a very useful tool, especially outdoors. At the Giant Fort in FM this thing is very impressive. With the mobs being so big you can stay far back and avoid any damage from the proc. It is hitting between 40-60 dmg usually plus the 3x75 per proc. Add to that 70 dmg from flying kick, quite a nasty combo. If I do get hit its for 47 dmg max, the mobs hit harder than that. When I go inside to fight I put the Bo stick up and use my hands (we are monks after all). In closing I would reccomend the Bo Stick to all who have the patience to master it.

One thing, with you all calling this thing a suicide stick because of the AoE, are you really monks or just stuck up druids? If you are monks how do you survive? I have hgih agility and know how to work this thing other than some low IQed monkeys i know. I can solo yellows and if I aggro more than one its called feign death, look into it. Oooooo yes sometimes it does hit you but does that really matter at level 30? Uhhhhh no. Not unless youre deranged and put all your skill points into wisdom.

Question?
What exactly does Agility have to do with this item? Dex maybe... and magic resist... but agi only helps for dodging physical attacks...

BTW... a proc that hurts you is bad, unless you use it right and avoid getting hit. Any damage you take is bad... proc'ing a 3x 75point damage over and over on yourself WHILE a mob is attacking you (yes, a proc will aggro a mob quickly, especially a rain one, 3x aggro) is kinda hard on a monks body.. and the less the clerics have to heal your *** and the more a tank can take the hits instead of you means the more overall damage you do, and the less downtime needed...

This stick is a nice idea, but not the most practical...

I really wish people wouldn't comment on things they know nothing about...

I'm about 90% sure you've never used this item, since first of all, you don't take the full damage from the proc (unless of course you're running around with minimum MResist, in which case, I hope it does kill you since you're a buffoon). When I use it, with my 49 Mresist, I take 47 points per proc, while the mob takes the full 75. Occasionally, and I say occasionally since I have yet to master avoiding the full proc, I can minimize the proc damage on me down to about 10 to 15 points.

Now...youre telling me, even at 75x3 self-damage (225), and you with at least 700 hit points at level 30 (leaving you with 475), while you're delivering an avg of 3 45 to 60 point hits from the stick's impact itself, and delivering at least 50 points per flying kick (that's 200 points per attack round), that this weapon is impractical?

And you're other points are totally moot if you're in a competent group. The tank's job is to take hits. If they're not, then YOU'RE the idiot for not finding another tank to replace them. The cleric's job is to heal. If they're not, then YOU'RE the idiot for not finding another healer to replace them. If you're a monk and you're tanking when there's a tank in your group, then, you guessed it, YOU'RE AN IDIOT.

If you're soloing however, then your argument may hold water as far as downtime is concerned.

A proc that hurts you is bad? So its bad when it hurts your target more?? Are you on crack?

My expereiences with AE rain
# Aug 28 2001 at 4:48 PM Rating: Good
When playing my druid, I often snare and then run and wait an exact amount of time and then cast a rain spell. If timed correctly, the rain spell hits the mob at a point when he's out of my range. Then he reaches my melee range but is still in the AE range, while I am not (he's only 25 so can take hits still). This is slightly more manna effecient than my DDs.

I can't see why (especially if you are soloing), you can't back up after the 1st wave hits instead of sitting there taking a lightning bath with your buddy. Even in a group you can back out between each wave and run back in for a few seconds when you see the "target takes non-melee" message. That takes a little timing, but you have 6 seconds between waves and I will wager that it's worth it to avoid the AE even though you miss out on delivering a few hits. This can cause problems if the mob's not well taunted on the tank however (and the mob follows you), but that shouldn't happen very often. Even if it does you just stay where you are and if you didnt' move too far, the mob should still be getting hit by the last two waves while you should not.

avoiding proc
# Apr 16 2001 at 9:16 AM Rating: Default
All you gotta do is stay at MAXIMUM melee range, and the proc will not hit you. I very often avoid even the first wave.

I understand this proc will hurt you, will it also hurt your group members?

It’s the Ultimate Giant Killer
# Feb 27 2001 at 12:34 PM Rating: Decent
-- And other large mobs.
I use it a lot in Fm at level 31, and I can engage giants and brutes outside of the AE
Range. I’m hitting up to 44 – 58 damage (maybe higher just made 31) and it’s procing 2 or 3 times a fight for 75 damage 3x. Now the trick is to have a ranger or druid snare it so at the end of the battle it does not walk out of AE range. I can average 450 damage of proc damage per fight, plus the melee damage, and (flying kicks get 60 sometimes now (with nice str buff)) and you can see them die quickly.

I have a lot of experience with Sword of Skyfire with my warrior, so it may take a little getting use to, just on the large mobs, back up slowly until your target is to far away, them come in some, and you’ll see lighting all around the giants head, and you're still dishing out melee damage nice and safe.

Hope this helps :)

This weapon is NOT worthless at level 30
# Jan 03 2001 at 9:13 PM Rating: Default
You just need to be more careful with it.

The proc hits for 3 waves of 75% DD, and hits the weilder but...

With the PVP code it only hits you for 66% or 50 damage per wave.
If you back up a few steps after the first wave you can avoid 2 of the 3 waves (which will still hit the mobs you are fighting)

so, you take 50 dam, mobs take 225. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. And if you can pump your MR a bit, you take even less damage.

The AE is only a problem if:

You are fighting in an area where more mobs might be aggroed.
or
You are fighting multiple mobs and have a chanter/bard/necro mezzing.

In those situations put it away. If you get low on health put it away. That still leaves a whole lot of situations where this weapon rocks.

RE: Great weapon, too bad i'll have to throw it away at leve
# Dec 25 2000 at 11:37 PM Rating: Default
The proc affects the wielder of the weapon from what I hear...This is a really nice weapon...i'm currently level 23 and this thing is hitting for around 49 tops...and combined with an FBSS i'm still able (barely) to solo yellow mobs...I switched out a pair of batons and use this staff as my main weapon...i know i should be using some of my other skills, but this staff is just so sweet to see in action =)

RE: Lvl of proc?

it begins to proc at lvl 30. it does 75dmg over 3 waves and is an AE rain spell.
RE: Lvl of proc?
# Feb 20 2001 at 7:02 PM Rating: Default
It is also called the Stick of Double Death..
1) Because the AE Rain will of course un-mez any
surrounding mobs and agro them (or chain agro)..
2) Because YOU yourself will be hit with the
proc damage, and it is quite nasty. From
what I can tell you can not avoid the first
wave at all and you need good practice to properly step back the right distance to avoid waves 2 and 3, but still have the mob take it..
With a high dex, you could literally kill yourself (with help from the mob)...

Hence, it is nicely locked in my bank vault..
