The Tribute for this item value is only 119. This data can be obtained by clicking on the "Lucy's Entry" link next to the item name.

A vendor buys this for only about 5pp, but sells it for a staggering ~26,000 platinum!

Keep in mind it only has 10 charges of Clinging Darkness on it...

How in the sam hill do you use this thing?
RE: stumped
# Jan 28 2002 at 1:41 PM Rating: Decent
It's a triggered effect, it works at level one, to use it you right click on it.
RE: stumped
# Dec 02 2001 at 9:22 AM Rating: Default
it says triggered effect
the weapon will proc at a certain lvl
i have no clue there sorry
but that how in sam hill you use the effect
the effect is kinda of a low lvl spell so i would think somewhere between lvl 10 and 20 (any correction is welcome)
RE: stumped
# Feb 27 2002 at 2:34 AM Rating: Excellent
No.... You right click it.
RE: stumped
# Dec 15 2001 at 2:13 PM Rating: Default
triggered means you right click to activate! This is a low lvl spell that is like a 30 dmg DoT and snare. Would be a great warrior pvp item! this + forlorn totems and you'd be able to take anyone down =)
#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 10 2002 at 1:08 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) If anyone does know the level needed to use the effect, I would greatly appreciate that info. If it's level 1, then I might have to go get one for my new Wizard. Now that would trip people out. A high Elf casting necro DoTs *grin*

I got one after the recent patch that removed the loot code from the Warrens (King died in 3 casts, and one was snare =)

I played around with it some, and discovered that you don't need to equip it to activate the charges, the rod casts instantly, and you don't have to be stationary for it to work.
Prenerf -_-

Well, the day the warrens opened, my young guildmates and I flocked to kill everything in sight for exp and to see what could be seen.

Mind you, this was pre-nerf.

The king dropped this rod :) Our rogue, bless his little fuzzy feet, plooted it. (That means he looted it without askin or rolling.) And promptly stuffed it in his inventory and started right click spamming it. He cast far more than 40 times.. enough to lag me horribly. He snared everything we pulled. I asked politely if I could have it.. and when he put it up in the trade window, I saw just Effect: Clinging Darkness. When I got it, and attempted to use it.. it said.. "This item is out of charges." Something to that effect. Our group cried. =/ He griped loudly. So I had a worthless, pretty much, 1hb weapon that would never save my necro any mana. I petitioned. My favorite Guide showed up. Puzzled. He called in 2 more Guides. They, too, puzzled, then finally, they said.. you must talk to the head GM (at that time, XZott, of whom I hope he is having tons of fun on Sullon Zek. You Sullon Zek folks are hella lucky to have him!!!!!) when he logs on. I logged off, logged back in... and lo and behold, I look at the sceptre.. and it says.. charges: none. I have other folks who have reported the same thing.. when they logged out or traded it.. it no longer worked. So yes, this was nerfed... why? As the GM politely told me.. this item was never intended to have infinite charges. Such an item would be overpowered in the game, and for its rarity, 10 charges is powerful enough.

-_- My little sad story. Ah well.. and yes, it's just got charges, any level should be able to use it. If I get another, you bet I'm gonna save this for kitiing solo when I am in trouble and NEED to snare to run for my life :)

Hehe he's funny as heck, and on a LOT to boot. He always says "GM Xzott here, how may we be of service". After a while I asked him if he had that on emote or if he typed it out. He *TOLD* me "we type it out every time". The whole referring to himself in 2nd person is great too... Hehehe
RE: Xzott
# Apr 21 2004 at 12:41 PM Rating: Decent
It's third person, second person would be YOU are here, how may YOU be of service... talking to himself and whatnot.

Remember Choose Your Own Adventure? That's 2nd.
i want one

If u play on test and are selling one, i would like it for my newbie iksar necro-Dieheart, im still fighting in field of bone and stuff, send me a tell (p.s. I want some other necro stuff too hehe)
not sellable
# Aug 11 2001 at 10:07 AM Rating: Default
I can't get anybody to buy it at all. Kinda worthless even though you do get the strength bonus for delay of 40. Otherwise just useful to prevent a train. Access to a snare type spell is always good for a warrior trying to solo... or fix that overpull.
How much is this hunk of junk worth?
# Jul 15 2001 at 6:10 AM Rating: Default
Got one tonight while camping for the Crown; just wondering how much this rod is worth

Oh yes, those whole 10 charges

Come on people, it's 10 charges, like it has any REAL impact.
RE: Oh yes, those whole 10 charges
# Jul 14 2001 at 8:59 AM Rating: Default
this item makes the warrior class something other than worthless!
RE: Oh yes, those whole 10 charges
# Mar 22 2001 at 6:46 AM Rating: Default
actually used properly this could be worth a lot to a warrior, this is the only low level item I have seen that gives warriors the ability to snare an enemy.
RE: Oh yes, those whole 10 charges
# Mar 22 2001 at 8:47 AM Rating: Default
Ok I am not out for warriors I am just saying that it tough to see warriors gets weapons that cast these spells.

Why would you want a SK when you have a warrior duel weilding weapons that proc a Darkness spell and a life spike spell. Or why would you want a Pally if a warrior is procing stun and root.

I think that some of these procs should be looked into or should be made alittle more creative. (I know Verrant is not about to do it) But I mean it would be great to see the procs on these weapons be totally different from the spells players cast.
RE: Oh yes, those whole 10 charges
# Mar 22 2001 at 9:29 AM Rating: Default
LOL, thats kind of funny. If you think about it for just a second... can the warrior cause those items to proc at his will? I didn't think so. Weapons with procs will never replace Hybrid class players because you may go through a fight and not proc once...
RE: Oh yes, those whole 10 charges
# Mar 22 2001 at 9:47 AM Rating: Default
Notice: not a proc
Yeah, didn't any of you READ?
# Mar 22 2001 at 4:29 PM Rating: Default
It's got 10 charges, activatable anytime...NOT A PROC. So after those 10 charges it's just a below average 1hb with negligible MR.
Question...
# Mar 25 2001 at 4:49 PM Rating: Default
Does this have to be equiped to use the effect? Or can it be right clicked from an inventory slot?
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 28 2001 at 5:08 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i agreee i dont like it when warriors get my spells. it takes the fun out of picking
