Erdite SKs won't sully their feet with these
# Feb 14 2002 at 1:02 PM Rating: Default
Note! Not wearable by Erudites (or Wood Elves). My Erudite SK finally (!) got a pair of these, and much to my dismay, couldn't put them on.

SK CAN wear them, so can wood elves, High elves cannot wear them I think that is what Goiler was refering to. just got the 2 backwards

btw if u look, it doesnt list erudites OR sk's. Maybe thats why you cant wear them??

It does say Shadow Knights can wear them. That is what SHD stands for.

Nice drop

Nice set of boots. Was going to buy something to replace my kobold-hide boots when I ran into the packmaster running around in the Warrens. Needless to say I whacked him upside the head and ran off with his shoes. At level 27, this is an easy kill (Green. Hit me for about 20 pts total) for a pretty good set of boots. Will probably keep these until I get Jboots or something to that effect.
I got

I got these a few days ago coming from Stone Brunt Mountians with my 19 dwarf Warrior And a friend of mine helped kill the guy Thanks Hope who all wants them get them!)
Magic boots!
# Sep 01 2001 at 6:05 PM Rating: Decent
No loot in Warrens was really intended to be for higher levels or for twinks. You know what this is? This is a rare chance at some really nice (considering they just drop) MAGIC! boots. Yes. You monks can buy Wu's pretty cheaply on the bigger servers.. but what about the rest of the kicking classes? Oh yes. They can't kick wisps or ghouls or anything else magical without magic boots, and in the long run of a fight, that extra bit of damage is nice.

Just my 2cp. If Warrens were around when my ranger was little, you bet I would be camping these boots. =)

Actually, Black Iron Boots filled this role in the past, and it's not THAT uncommon a drop in Runnyeye.
Oops.. gave those away

Hehe, well I was wandering the warrens looking for katanas and a troll came running up the way yelling train. He had the pack master on him and he was getting killed. I helped him out and we chased the pack master down a ways and I finally killed him. I figured since jaber had pulled him that the stuff on him wasn't rightfully mine. Lo and behold he had the boots! I told Jaberwooky and asked him if he wanted them, and indeed he did so I looted them and gave them up. I didnt think much of it at the time, just helping a guy out. But about 5 minutes later a freakin lvl 59 cleric shows up and starts buffing the hell out of me! Well, it was the trolls alt character and this was his way of thanking me. It was sweet I had over 1200 hps at lvl 16.. suffice to say I went around killing stuff for quite a while! Even found my katana!

Just thought Id share a boot story with ya. :)

tonight dhagda, and i (siizik) camped the whole zone, including muglwump, king, prince, etc..

dhagda went LD and i ran down to packmaster..killed..got boots...after we cleared the zone..dhagda sat there waiting for muglwump and i checked packmaster. killed him. boots. dhagda came and looted them. w00t. 2boots, 2spawns. THAT'S incredible.

Great Boots

Easily replaced my Banded Boots. They were a great camp, I just ran between the Jailor, pit fighters, the Packmaster, and the kitchen. I got a whole lot of cool loot, and I think these were among the best.
lol

Got mine in trade
# May 31 2001 at 1:19 PM Rating: Decent
Got mine on Bristlebane server after I helped out a Newbie by letting him loot the lash from the Packmaster (I already had 1). I also gave him a Bone-Bladed Claymore just because I had it on me, and he asked if I wanted these boots. Great boots, but they smell funny. I just recently traded them for Crustacean shell boots due to their rarity. As for the camp, you really are looking at a worst case scenario of 15-30 hours camping straight, since the boots are a 5% chance drop on a 30 min to 1 hour spawn. If you think I'm lying, send me a tell in game, I'll show you my NEW boots.
very rare

details on packmaster and boots
# May 14 2001 at 9:35 PM Rating: Decent
Drops off packmaster in the rat room, On your way to the jailer. Packmaster spawns in place of the frenzied rat. keep killing the rat and the Packmaster will spawn. Ratio of frenzied rat spawn to pack master spawn is approx 10:1 (For every ten times the rat spawns packmaster will spawn once) I have been in warrens for a month and only killed the packmaster 3 times, cons blue at lvl 16-18. Boots are a rare drop even if he does spawn.
Pure speculationon on my part here. All three times I found him it was early in the morning (6-7am EST) and no one was in the warrens but me. I think the packmaster spawn might be triggered by the frenzied rat's length of time in play. for exe. the longer the rat stays alive(usually not long cause it aggros on everything) the more likely the packmaster is to spawn next. Like I said, pure speculation. let me know if anyone finds similar results

The boots are great for rangers, but a bit heavy in my opinion

RE: details on packmaster and boots
# May 26 2001 at 8:42 AM Rating: Default
Well ,I've been camping him for a couple days now( after I got the boots) and I don't think that the length of the rat has anything to do with spawn rate of the Packmaster, because he spawned 3 times in a row
(in shock)

I was under the impression that these had never dropped but for anyone but me. (I guess I wanted to be tight, guess not though, hehe). These are quite nice, but they are NOT no drop, because i gave them to a guildie. well, with all the people that use the grotesque mask, these arent all that uncommon, i mean...who cares about cha right? exactly =)
#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 30 2001 at 5:33 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) they dropped from Packmaster Wots-is-name, and are no drop..=(

I just got these boots the other day. They are pretty good for my 17th season druid. the resistances help taking on shammans and ac is not to bad either considering i still had on leather boots at time.

I just got these. They were quite a surprise as they are quite nice. A very odd class selection though. Sadly my bard can't wear them but they will do for my newbie warrior.

Funny how Erudites can't equip this when it's from the Warrens.

Well, of course!

No self-respecting Erudite would be seen in anything this shabby. I'm surprised they let high elves wear it, though.
