Giving a cub the trap will trap him. Not working for me though

Quest page states: In the same area there are several of "a slashclaw cub". Right-click the Slashclaw Cub Trap while targeted on one and the cub will disappear and give the emote...

The slashclaw cub mews weakly as it is captured in the trap.

This is also how I assumed it would work. Target the appropriate animal, right-click the trap.
