this item is pretty awsome, even now.. sure the armor isnt as high as some new items, but this IS a 4 year old item , its some some pretty nice stats, decent resists too.. and like the person below said, that see invis effect is pretty damn cool for a class that doesnt get the spell
All you people saying that the See Invis part on this item sucks have you ever considered that this a cleric only item? And since Clerics dont get see invis it can be quite useful...
---EDIT--- Damn The E Key being close to the S KEY! Supposed to say "See Invis Sux?" lol
Many people seem to be missing some factors... when you say 'only x ac, or only x resist or only x(stat) doesn't matter! Ok, but when you say that for all your gear you end up with not that great saves, stats, less hp and mana than other people might have. True, both the helms are great, but in a raid, the helm would be better. Normal grouping in your daily exp routine, the halo would win over. ONLY 8 to ALL resist.. yeah that's nothing, especially after the resist changes in a patch a while ago. And see invis isn't all that useful unless you are on a PvP server, in which case it can save you from mabey a nasty backstab, or being jumped by the random sneaky person out to get you :P
The person saying they would keep both has a good idea, and keep on, the 'only' such and such stat idea is pretty lame.
Just like the couple saves on velious quest gear. They all add up, and toss in some resist jewlery, it can save you from some AE's. Can't have the clerics dropping to some AE's when they're supposed to be CH'ing the tank now can you?
Unless you are fighting in West Wing or HoT in ToV, *most* AEs seem to be fairly unresistable. I would definately go for HPs over resists. Keeping them both would not hurt, of course...but I don't see myself switching my helm out to add 8 more to my resists and sacrificing 120+ HPs.
i have to say you must have craptascular resist gear. as a monk i wear resist gear more and more as my standard operating armor. in places like sebilis and such where the mobs are all to happy to aoe you and themselves to death, i find i can resist most of the waves of various rain spells, most aoe's as well as target nukes, etc. with unbuffed resists in the 60-120 range. obviously with party buffing, the effect is all the more noticable. obviousl fairly uber mobs (ToV dragons, PoP bosses, etc.) the effect of resists will be lesser seen but that is due to level adjustment, rather than how crappy or good your resists are. its hard to resist a mob's nuke if they're RED to you :P
resist gear in the end game is all too important to disavow, but you can't sacrefice HP/AC JUST for resists. you have to find a good balance for your character. pullers and tanks will usually need better resists than regular melees and casters who are generally out of harms way most of the time. but having 200 resists doesnt protect you from getting pummelled if your HP are the SuX0r, either. whatever works for you based on experience is the best motto i find to play by.
I just got awarded this helm by my guild Kupo Flux (tina.yi.org/kupoflux) on Tholuxe Paells server. I was debating whether this is better than the Mithril Helm and with some advice, I think this is the clear winner in the long run:
Halo vs. Mithril Helm
AC 25 vs. AC 35 Str 10 vs. Str 4 Sta 10 vs. Null Wis 15 vs. Wis 15 Hp 100 vs. Null Mana 100 vs. Mana 40 SvAll 7 vs. SvAll 15
As a Cleric I can live with the 10ac loss, but the thing that will hurt until I'm ready is the loss of 8 to each resist that I suffer for wearing the Halo vs. Helm. For now I'm hanging on to both and using the Helm for resist situations.
And See Invis....I don't think it's all that useful.
Ok.. I'm gunna use your little chart and tell you why Halo is better then Mithral Helm... with out even a single dought, at all... No remember, you are a cleric...
Halo vs. Mithril Helm
AC 25 vs. AC 35 - AC at this point is stupid.. A cleric who can get Mith Helm, probibly has at least 1100ac and the 10 won't significantly effect this.
Str 10 vs. Str 4 - No real need for str in the long run...
Sta 10 vs. Null - Ok, Halo here adds at least 20hp.. if you take into account AA points in ND then you can get close to probibly 50hp for these 10sta points...
Wis 15 vs. Wis 15 - Same deal
Hp 100 vs. Null No HP on Mith helm = why in gods name do you want it? really.. 100hp on Halo, 100... Beside Some high end ssra items and VT items, there are no items in norrath with more then 100hp
Mana 100 vs. Mana 40 - 60 mana extra on Halo, enough said
SvAll 7 vs. SvAll 15 - Wow.. Mith helm finally does something for the cleric.. 8 points extra to each resist... wooopie
Even if you want to look at this from a PvP server prospective (Which I play on) Halo > Mith helm.. those 8 extra to resists will do nothing against Lures, and at this point in the game, almost every wix0r will be using lures in PvP, so with 150 extra HP you get from the Halo, you get that much extra time to cast a heal on yourself... In a mob view, its the same thing.. 150hp will save your a$$... not an extra 10ac or a couple resists..
So, keep using your Mith Helm, and let that Halo rot away in your bank, but for what its worth, there is one cleric in the world that thinks your an idiot =D
EDIT: See invis is just an added benefit

While i agree with your assesment that Halo is better than helm. You should really read his post closer before calling him an idiot. He said this -- "For now I'm hanging on to both and using the Helm for resist situations"
He is obviously wearing the Halo primarily and just switching out with the helm for resists.

Hehe I was lucky enough to off Cazic tonight, with some of the best loot we have seen drop off him yet. he had this, cloak, eye, and pauldrons. I was lucky dorf to be awarded this very nice peice of equipment. it Roxors.
Just got one of these on the Karana server. One thing not mentioned is that the effect: see invisible is not a right-click activated effect. All you need do is put it on.
*blink* *blink blink* *SMACK* It's a cleric item. the whole ZONE drops pally gear. nothing here drops cleric stuff but minis and cazic himself... do you want someone on the raid to heal you? if so, then let this be for clerics, and STFU *smack*
I am a planes doable cleric so I can say this with some validity to my words. Not everything has to be done to get loot. I don't go on a raid to just get loot. If I get some, great, if not, then I had a good time, played the game and etc. If you go on raids only because they will drop items that you can use, I feel truly sorry for the guild that you are in. I good cleric goes to help the people she has chosen to associate with, and that group if they are good, will ensure in the long run that the cleric will indeed see good items, maybe not on this raid but on another one.
im just checkin out equipment and glanced at the 100hp.. then noticed all the other stats.. this is amazing.. makes me wanna be a cleric.. kinda.... at first i was thinking this was the clerics epic "weapon" quest.. it isnt a weapon but either is the monks celestiel fist =).. well anyways just commenting on this helm.. *drools*
This might very well be the best cleric helm in the game, and if it were All / All, it would probably be one of the best for any class. On a side note, Cazic dropped 2 of these and a Robe of Inspiration the other night when we killed him.
