At What level can a Cleric Use the Clicky casting on this BreastPlate? Just curious.

There are Clerics in Time enabled guilds that still wear this BP. It holds up as a respectable item. Not that they won't replace it at the drop of a hat for the Time BP.
Line of Sight
# Nov 30 2003 at 12:30 AM Rating: Decent
"...mobs AE's in HoT is not line of sight. It will hit you regardless of where you are at (ex behind, to the left etc)."

You don't understand what is meant by line of sight. It doesn't mean the mob is looking at you. It means there are no objects between you and it that would obstruct it's view if it were staring in your direction. If you're standing behind a mob and there is no world object bewteen you and it, you are in line of sight. Doesn't matter that it has it's back to you. There is not an AE in the game which doesn't require line of sight.

TOV
# Apr 05 2002 at 9:28 PM Rating: Decent
Actually, to get to TOV, most guilds want about level 53 and up, being 55 just helps with agro I believe. I just was awarded the Unadorned Breastplate (completes my set) tonight. You do not have to have a certain amount of resists, in HOT there are alot of walls that guilds use for casters to hang out at.
RE: TOV
# May 11 2003 at 4:26 PM Rating: Decent
Being 55 helps with resisting the AE actually. A 55 ranger with 100 resists will take less damage than a 54 ranger with 120 resists from the TOV/HOT mobs. Considering these mobs can AE for 300 points per round, mitigating that damage is crucial to success (hence the 55+ level requirements and the 100+ or 120+ resist requirements).

If you are a caster and you are under 55, expect a lot of resists (oh, and the AE range is large enough that you WILL be hit by AE if you have line of sight with the mob so your level/resists will be important if you need line of sight to cast your spells), your resists are more important than AC but you can hide behind a wall and avoid the AE if you start to get low on health (its not unusual to chain cast nukes until you are at 20 or 30 health and duck behind the wall... your mana is still at 50ish).

If you are melee, you will get hit with AE every round. You really should be 55+ and have high resists (as in your resists are more important than any other single stat). You can run behind a wall but then you aren't very useful are you?

Clerics never need to leave the safety of a wall. Complete heals won't be resisted even by a level 65 warrior. So if you are a cleric you can be a much lower level and have far lower resists than most others. Of course, the larger your mana pool the better (remember those 2 rangers I was talking about earlier...).

Actually Mark of Karn does 2 things. It is casted on mobs, then first it removes any DS it may have on it like thorns <if fighting a dru mob>, and second it heals the attackers for 6 pts of health every hit the attacker does on the mob. It is most useful for removing the DS. Those get annoying.

Most raids ask that peoples be 55+ to go into ToV, more specifically Halls of Testing. Clerics generally can get away with being 52+. The thing you NEED : Ally faction with claws of veshian? (sp) and to have your resists, I beleive magic/fire 120+ unbuffed. So if this is REALLY what you want, I'd suggest working on getting your CoV faction way up and work on getting a good set of resist gear so that when you are the level to start going on TOV raids, you can actually go.
Hope it helps

SS quest piece usually comes from ToV, which consists of tough dragons.
I believe the piece drop are ok, not so rare like in Kael or PoG.
Depending how loot is handled, your chances of getting this quest done varies.
RE: Lvl?
# Feb 10 2002 at 12:40 AM Rating: Default
Generally lvl has to be higher than 54, faction dubious or better, best to be at ally. Piece drops varies from day to day, the rarest piece of all is breastplate.

ps. resist is 100+ for sure, at least you don't die too fast from AE.

50 is the right level
# Aug 31 2001 at 4:15 AM Rating: Good
You *can* do this quest with ease at L50, especially as a cleric, all u need to do is get the proper faction off kael giants and then SS is harmless. The AE from the veeshan mobs mentioned above is *line of sight*, meaning that if you stand where the dragon or whatever can see you, u deserve to die. There are plently of angles to hide behind.

...mobs AE's in HoT is not line of sight. It will hit you regardless of where you are at (ex behind, to the left etc). lvl 50 to get a Plate bp from tov? probably not. Unless your in a super uber guild (can't see why one would choose HoT over NToV though) and even if one dropped why would it go to a 50 cleric over say a 58 cleric or 60 warrior etc. And I highly doubt if your raiding ToV you'll actually be rolling on loot.
RE: 50 is the right level
# Jan 10 2002 at 12:01 AM Rating: Decent
Sorry to pop that bubble but each time I've done HoT (Halls of Testing) hiding behind a wall to heal took me out of the AE. When I moved out I'd normally resist all but the lure AE's with 180+ resists.

As for rolling on the BP...Why not? Not everybody uses a point system. Granted they've got advantages but not all guilds use em.

wanted to add not only does this place require a large raid style group but i would not consider going here till atleast 55 and having a MR CR and FR of atleast 150 the AE spells most if not all mobs cast here hurts hitting in the 500s for those with out the res gear << i know this cause at 51 i went whit avg of 80 on my res DUh live and learn OH well i love my armor any way aalso one more thing best way to approach this place ( ToV ) is to raid kael hard and heavy till you max CoV faction then you can stroll thru most of ToV with out worry altho there are a few mobs that are scowling no matter the faction mostly in the halls of testing it is funny to watch someone with bad faction go here 2 sec after stepping thru the door after zone in 6 count them 6 drakes makum deaded ! << why be uber be organized >>

About this effect...Mark Of Karn, that spell is a reverse damage sheild so to speak...cast it on the MOB and it will replace whatever Dmg Sheild it might have and also raise it's MR by 15-20...the effect heals for 6 everytime it's hit...recomended for the quick hitting classes...so put away those 2HB's ;) Also, about this AC...This cleric BP has got it all...the AC is not up to the warriors quest BP (Warlords) The AC on the Warrior's BP is 58. Can't wait to get mine...catcha later folks.

Either way, 50 or 54, a CLERIC should NOT have ac like a war
# May 27 2001 at 9:34 AM Rating: Default
So what your saying is you want your cleric to have crappy armor class so he gets killed fast and your warrior has no one to heal hiim/her?

Clerics can wear Plate Armor, its a god sent for them. Armor is for Defense, Clerics area defensive class, they also are gifted byt he GOD's. Dont understand that logic of thinking about clerics should not get good armor class, but if the cleric in my group is wearing Superb armor like this, I will be alot more happy for it.

But I guess thatis the words from a person who has never done a REAL Raid before and dont know how hard some dragon's and other High Level mobs really are. Go fight a level 75 dragon warrior in Western Wastes then ask yourself the question, should a cleric get good armor? Answer...HELL YES!
RE: Either way, 50 or 54, a CLERIC should NOT have ac like a
# Feb 22 2002 at 4:23 AM Rating: Default
Regarding class balancing, would it be fare to give a cleric equal ac to a warrior? Warriors are specially made to take hits. Clerics heal. Wisdom is taken into account as well. IF you are a cleric with 180 wis, you suck. A large mana pool is needed for those big mobs, not ac. Clerics are the only plate wearing casters, hybrids dont count. Clerics do infact get hit, this is true. But seriously, if your cleric is taking melee damage on a big mob, your raid is jacked up. The sham, for instance, more than likely will, but not the cleric. Besides, it doesn't matter what your ac is with some mobs, such as Vindi, who is known to snuff a cleric every now and then. If he gets a hold of you, you're done. Wisdom and mana were added to the BP, along with other useful stats, the ac I find to be more that sufficient. Clerics do where plate for a reason. But ac isn't as useful on single big raid mobs as it is in regular ol' everyday exp groups like seb and velks. That bad pull will bring lots of critters, and that heal that you cast right off the bat is sure to get some agro. This is where the ac is useful. Now, if you are in HoT, and are more concerned about the ac than resists, then choke yourself. Single pulls, and even that occasional add, will not subject you to melee damage, unless you are a goober. Stay behind the walls and avoid the ae's, and when it says in that little red writing that you resist some spell (usually fire or cold based btw, plan ahead for that)you move to another wall and keep casting those. I have yet to see ANYONE die from normal mob pulls in HoT, named mobs are different, people are gonna die. Keeping your distance and staying behind walls is whats gonna keep you alive, the "stand, heal, sit" method goes out the window, pay attention to where you are at, and keep your distance. Honestly, resists and wis/mana is what you should be shooting for in HoT. AC won't be major factor in the sucsess of your raid there.

The effect is a lvl 56 cleric spell (I think its 56) its a reverse damage shield sorta. The cleric will cast it on the monster, and if it sticks, it removes THAT monsters DS and replaces it with a "heal shield" As in before each time they landed a hit they were damaged, each time they land a hit there healed. I think its what, 2 points of health per hit or 4?

Unadorned armour is from Temple of veeshan... it drops quite far in and is way rare. This is a hard quest and i suggest doing either kael ones since you only need a bit far into Temple of veeshan and thurg quests what are like ubr easy! peace out dewdies

# Mar 19 2001 at 7:22 PM Rating: Decent
No its not fake, look at all the other damn armor quests from skyshrine. Look at all the other armor quests in velious period. The stats are what they are because of how hard this crap is to get. You need to raid the temple of veeshan to get most of the peices for the kael quests and they are rare as hell in a zone that you can NOT just send a grp of lvl 55+'s in to fight for exp. To complete each of the quests you have to have SEVERAL very organized raids of 3 or 4 grps of 50+'s at least to get any peice and even then its a rare/random drop that could be for any class and not just your own. Thats why the stats are better then planar because its like raiding the planes were at lvl 47 for these guys that are lvl 57 now. It's a great balance of risk/reward and the risk is very high so the reward is too, for once its a good balance from verant. Get a life, this "its fake, it cant be real" crap gets old...fast.

The AC on skyshrine and Kael armour was increased with a patch a couple of weeks ago. I haven't seen the ac on the warriors BP's but all the other plate BP's are 50ac from Skyshrine and 54 from Kael.
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 19 2001 at 10:48 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Either way, 50 or 54, a CLERIC should NOT have ac like a warrior! Hands down.....cleric should be closer to 30-35 ac in my opinion. It's retarded that clerics are getting ac that compares to warrior equipment. Plus our bp's have stupid effects, but not the clerics.
RE: Maybe...fake?
# Mar 19 2001 at 11:30 PM Rating: Decent
Not sure what your idea of a cleric is, but plate armour is plate armour and a cleric needs the protection, it's obvious you don't play one, you want your cleric dead when it's time to heal you?... thought not:P

RE: Maybe...fake?
# Mar 20 2001 at 4:12 PM Rating: Default
For the ignorants ones (please ignore those just posting crap). Once again the AC was upped on Skyshrine and Kael armor due to the higher difficulty it is to obtain them. Previously the kael and skyshrine armor had 2 more ac over the thurgadin equiv. Now it is much greater. The ac of 50 for cleric bp is same ac for ranger, paladin, and shadow knight (don't know about any others). Once someone posts a warrior bp it will be greater than that.

For the ELF listed under race, look at all the donal's armor from kunark. ELF is listed as well as TRL and OGR. Verant mistakenly put it there and didn't bother taking it it out...so what.
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 21 2001 at 12:04 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) First, You guys have way to much time on your hands to be comparing and contrasting stuff that only a small percent of playeres will even get. Secondly, Yea so what if it has ELF on the stats, most armor have races that can't be a class on them anyhow's. It seems to me that not many people play everquest as thouroughly as they may think because from the beginning most armor and heck even spell have classes that don't match the race. Please if your going to post please make sense of what your talking about and hell don't be posting about a cleric BP if you've never even played a cleric and on top of that make a fool out of yourself.
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 23 2001 at 8:23 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) If you honestly believe a cleric should have a bp with ac as good or better than a warrior, you can kiss my A$$! ALL OF YOU! Clerics, true are very important, and need to stay alive, but they aren't getting hit as often as tanks are. Why not give chanters a 50ac robe? They are important, could cause your whole group to die if they die.
