Heh, was checking this zone out with a 44 chanter. Dropped Muglwump easy with pet. 39 cleric tried later and had to gate... (was oom and undbuffed...too confident). Anyway cleric got the goofy stein to replace his Dark Ember...lol more in tune with his character. No drop gear is cool --it means you have to at least go to some different places other than baz.

Well i went into the warrens for the first time today, just to what it was like, get a feel for the place as i planned to make an erudite and thought this would be a good place to exp...

while i was in there i hit track (lev 27 druid at the time) and saw this guy con blue, so tracked him down, and proceded to attack. Now the mob itself isn't too hard, it's got a fair amount of hp, but i was winning the fight... it was when 3 or 4 little bats started spamming me with dd's it got hard... and no i didn't win the fight =p

same happened when i tried to kill krode (although this time i got away) unless your of a level that others wont aggro on you, your not gonna be able to solo these 2 (well you might be able to if you get real lucky, heh)

With this and My Wooden Totem I can walk around and have my own personal Tea party. Nothing looks funnier then a Barbarian Shaman beating things down with a stein and a doll.

just so everyone knows, (especially Nasuko) the warrens was not designed for high lvl people in mind. Especially not people in their 30's. This zone is like Blackburrow, it is there for the low lvl (pre-20) people out there. True most of he loot sux in this place but again for someone in their low teens the cash flow rocks, I crrently have a lvl 17 Dwarven cleric in here and he loots bronze all the time, approx 75%. Also i believe that ther is a exp bonus in Warrens too so personally, if i was to start a human or euridite character this is one place i would rather come to hunt over blackburrow any day, especially since the train schedual is so light.

With the exp bonus it's good exp. till 33/34. I agree with your overall point though, its a great zone, which has been improved over time, especially the many pathing improvements but high 30's thru 65's come thru and wipe out the named many of which are on an hour respawn timer, so it oft times is underused once again.

At what level can you not loot this? A druid friend of mine, 24th level and I were thinking of running out there, but after reading all the notes on Muglwump I was thinking we should wait a few levels. Does anyone know what the loot level limit is on the stein?

Downed Muglwump with a level 52 Enchanter. Pet was tanking (unbuffed) and actually won without any of my assistance. (If you know anything about Enchanter pets, you know they are not the greatest and the level 49 pet can only really effectively tank mobs up to about 30)

Mugl is an Enchanter (I got tashed but no charm) but he's basically a huge tadpole who thinks hes a froggie. *wink*

And yes, got a few drops from him. Only FV server has the Trivial Loot Code which prevents high level people from farming LORE items from lowbie mobs

Muglwump is lvl 25. I can solo Muglwump at lvl 35 and still get this, but only if I solo.

Before Kunark and Velious...back in the day! when we used to walk to school in 39928 feet of snow and lvl 45s were proud to be wearing an oracle robe. this equipment would have been great for the levels it's available to. A lvl 12 warrior isn't suppose to be in full crafted with weapons from Karnor's. they made the equipment quality for it's level. this stein is perfect for a cleric, shaman or druid under 30.

I agree about the twinking thing.
Those people who twink thier charaters are too much-a-wussies to go through the process again. IF you dont want to, dont make a new char.
RE: What do you expect
# Apr 25 2002 at 9:22 AM Rating: Decent
I aggree with the anti-twink policy. It has nothing to do with being jealous. I could twink if I so chose to. I have many a different high level toons I could twink with. I could PL my Char to with a 60 druid, 60 shaman, and a 54 chanter all at once... however that takes away from the whole point of the game. The challenge; the difficulty; the fun. Twinks ruin it for all the hard workers.
RE: What do you expect
# Aug 14 2001 at 6:14 PM Rating: Default
ok there is nothing wrong w/ twinking if you do it yourself....i don't believe in newbies just getting stuff from ppl who dont' want to make a trip to the ec or a merchant however if you have the pp and the time there is nothing wrong w/ you making another char. and twinking the everloving **** out of it. i think the only reason you ppl have problems w/ it is because you're jealous...get over yourselves

What's even worse is when you're not twinked, but everyone thinks you are. My lvl 13 warrior found Icetooth Claws on a merchant in NRo for 56pp, bought an ssb in ec for 50pp (which I just traded even for Iksar scaled gloves, and replaced with a bronze helm I found on the ground), and a BAL for 60pp and an hq bear skin. Also has jagged bands and orc fangs, all purchased, and the rest is banded, except for a drolvarg mantle that i bought at lvl 4 for under 10pp from a vendor. People insist I couldn't have done this on my own, but I did. I've got another character, lvl 30 cleric, but he's always broke, and can't twink squat.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 30 2001 at 7:27 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I agree.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 17 2001 at 8:31 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Lol, the two above posts are from morons I guess... What one thinks is not a way to determine how things should be. I mean, twinking sucks, I know, but I twinked a character, a ranger, hes lvl 9 now, my main could get him 10kpp to equip himself, but I only gave him full Black Alloy armor set and black alloy weapons. The ranger will have to do the rest, I.E. Levelling, money, etc...

This is about the only thing anyone would halfway want from warrens yet its just too much of a pain to get.

Mug is blue to up to a level 35 so my 32 figured "okay I'll try to get this thing." So I go there to camp it some and these are like the worst camps in the entire game. The spawn time seems slightly variable but can be something like an hour and a half. The creature mostly drops other junk which rots even though you announce it to the zone since it is of course all no drop like:

Ac 14 erud pally only bp
Magician 2 int (or something) fishing pole.

Also the hour and a half time means that even if you come when no one is camping it, other people higher level than you or your group keep running by this and every spawn checking on them constantly since the hour and a half spawn time means only idiots like me would actually sit there.

This is pretty nice for my cleric who is level 32, whoah actually I'm halfway to 34.. so mug will likely green out before I bother to go back and get it. I have a sharkbone warhammer now but the 3 ac and 3 wis on what is basically a primary slot holdable (you'd never really use this as a weapon...) is pretty nice.

Yeah, you are not entitled to loot or drops etc, I know. This dungeon is just very poorly designed and implemented due to the new loot rules there. Most of what drops on anything rots, you can't even get quest molars or other things off creatures while there so the high levels run around killing all the faction giving kobolds since they want to raise paineel faction but there is no quest to do so for them. High levels are also the MOST likely to want to bother since then they can use paineel when doing the hole and actually get the key for it for the first time (instead of ducking through the rock like everyone does, something which i think verant never actively prevented cause they knew even the hole would be empty then) Its just a mess.

Worst part is, like kerra which was revamped (no one hardly seemed to notice) and the whole toxula area in general, warrens will be empty in a month or so except for starting eruds or people on a brand new server. Even for starting eruds on an established server warrens will not be good as there are far too many kobolds there and since no one goes to this area off in the boondocks the lil eruds will have no one to group with. Low necros might do okay there. Most of the eruds will check it out and still flee to qeynos, blackburrow and beyond as always.

Its just kinda funny.. my high level druid did not have a primary better than this at like level 49 and the other person here says his not until 40. My cleric wants it there now and the mob is green at 35 so not dropping beyond that. That also actually ENCOURAGES power level behavior on a few mobs like this in that zone.

The only good thing about the zone is that it has pretty much a never ending spawning of a very high density of kobolds for low people just getting experience there. Also the pathing is the best I've seen in any zone of everquest. The creatures follow set fairly complex paths like a player would in navigating these catacombs whether pursuing you or fleeing; there is no more of that creature taking the short cut through walls junk. I was pretty impressed while camping the giant tad and kobolds and such would actually circle a pond on their way to me when I pulled rather than just moving through it like it was not there.

New server this area would be good and give the relatively few starting eruds a leg up (More might play them now also) Established server its another toxula area joke. I don't think verant has figured out yet that the toxula boat is still one of the worst in the game. Its as old as the freeport butcher boat but they sped those up and added an additional boat. The erud one is still one very, very slow boat making it a chore for anyone to go out to a fairly crummy zone that has few things to still kill at level 24 or so to 35.

I have to agree with you - this zone would be (IMO) the best lowbie dungeon in the game except one thing - Its in the wrong place! I play on Bertoxx, and I've seen a full group there maybe 3 times. On Sullon Zek, on the other hand, there's usually 30-40 peeps in there, and its a whole ton of fun. With the upcoming addition of Stoneburnt Mountains, Odus will become a decent continent worth staying in, but on established servers I just don't see this zone ever getting the respect it deserves.

You are wrong about the boat, at least. (No comment about the rest of it.) The boat gets to Qeynos much faster than the Buthcherblock boat gets to Freeport. It is a very quick trip. Further there are two boats, one right after another. The Seaking first, then the Golden Maiden a few minutes after. Please check these things before you make comments.

I think the coolest thing about this zone is...if they're low green (no exp, easy kill)..they fear you -=P Me, at least...I can walk thru the Jail area uninvis..and they all just stand there....I can kill the BatLord...and all the bats just hang in the air...took out the Huntmaster (btw, I spent my first full night there the other night seeing which NPCs I could kill...king gave nothing but a stupid cold iron girdle..yay)...and the Shaman healed him...and then forgot about it when he died...if yer the kind of player that's up at 3am and usually bored (but can't leave for obviously reason...
*cough*addiction*cough*)..check out this dungeon...even at 30..I get exp from Muglwummp (after getting killed by him the first time, I figured out Root doesn't work, so I just blasted and blasted)...though you should've seen how mad I was when I saw "MAG......" on that nice fishing pole...Kobold Fisherman drop reg. Fishing poles every time from my exp -=P and a bait...still get exp from Batlord...and Hunter...King is Blue, Shaman is High Green or blue..I forget..Big Mighty Bear Paw (awesome, btw!!) gives exp..and all these can be solo'd in TOTAL solitude at early times in the morning..it's like walking into a coffee shop the minute it opens...no one's there yet, but when someone comes in, they always seem to say hello..."ooc1: Hello..What'cha going for?" "ooc2: just taking out NPCs for fun" "ooc1: Get anything good?" "ooc2: nope, but still having a blast"...I think this is a great dungeon...haven't you ever wanted to run around in the back of the monkey exhibit at the zoo? THIS IS IT...this is Wild Mobs at their best...no Orcs standing in place in front of huts, or Kobold Runts huddled around a fire waiting for a newbie group to take them out...these kobolds are looking out for themselves! Different areas have different levels of Kobolds...but the dungeon actually has a feeling of realness to it...you walk thru the jail area and there's guards in fixed spots...but there's also those runty guys walking thru the halls like they don't have anything better to do...the kobolds have a special spot they keep their rats...are those for food? or do they train them for races or something? it's interesting either way, cuz all the rats are in that spot...in the jail..there's no kobolds...it's a safe haven for parties to rest (if they can get in there without any kobolds following)..the kobolds think anyone who's in there is a prisoner, and don't realise that they aren't the only ones who can open the doors -=P Around Mugglwump there are diseased kobolds lying on the ground..that aren't dead and actually attack if they aren't too low for you (love being so high that none of the kobolds will touch me when I attack their oversized pet tadpole) from the entrance you turn right to go to the area with stoned walls, and tradesman areas (cook, trainers, etc)..and everything seems to be in order...you go left past the water, and there's rooms with kobolds just standing around like they don't even have set jobs...and did you notice that huge pile of Kobold ***** you almost stepped in? keep going, there's the king's chambers....guarded of course...and don't even get me started on the Batlings...I'm still too afraid to go into their lair since my first kill by the tiny tiny little friends(?) of the kobolds...gotta wonder, in that secluded spot with the secret entrance (is Muglwuump their pet/guard?), and the other entrance seeminly only accessible by those who get permission from the king (perhaps they act as advisors? who knows)...would be nice to get some more lore on this dungeon....so if anyone wants to say this dungeon was badly done...spend a night becoming ALLY'd to BOTH Erudites and Heretics killing one kobold after another and tell me if ya didn't have fun doing it....

#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 26 2001 at 6:54 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) On top of that, the firepot room in Timorous provides quick access to Erudin from about as far away in the world as you can get. Of course getting back home is a pain, but my Iksar get all over the planet.

That's just too funny. Is it really?...gawd!

Why would a paladin want this? At no time did I feel the need to unequip a weapon, just to hold a stein for +3 WIS. Though maybe if you're hanging out at the bank or something and want to one of the few non-casters to be holding a stein. (am I right that paladins can't equip most of the steins?)
most steins are all / all

stein of moggok, crude stein, fools gold stein, stein of tears are all / all, so pallies can use them.

Cripes! As a druid I'd have loved to get this thing way back at 18th or whatever level. As it is I didn't get a weapon with 3 WIS on it until like 40th!
