EXPENDABLE!!!

Picked one up in my late teens, carried until lvl 36 ... started to wonder what would happen if I tried out the EOZ.

If you want your eye for the INT in the RANGE slot ... don't use the effect!

EXPENDABLE means "Goes AWAY!"

Common my ars!

I've killed 113 batlings to date. The 5th kill dropped an eye - excellent! - if they only drop one in 5 I'll have a backpack or two full in no time. About 80+ kills later another eye dropped, and then between 90 and 100 two of the bracelets dropped.

If these things are common then trolls are viewed warmly by every race from level 1.

The way 'common' drops work is the same as Neverwinter Nights loot tables. You can kill something for hours and get it's 'common drop', an item that drops maybe 1/1000. Then you get lucky and get it's 'uncommon' drop, an item that drops 1/1500. Then, if you spend mind numbing amounts of time killing that same mob, you might get it's 'rare' drop, which drops 1/2500. However, now, you go kill Crushbone Orcs, and get their 'uncommon' drop, which is a belt that drops maybe 1/25. I don't know the hard-and-fast numbers, those are just examples to sortof explain the way loot tables work. You think these are bad, try planar drops.

Ok, spent last night trying to get one of these. I'm 21 Enchanter and a 23 Warrior, in grp. With a 49ish druid (not in grp) back us up with heals and buffs. After all of us, almost being smeared all over the ground. We decided to pull them out of there. This work well.

We killed about 24 Mischevious Batlings and Eye did not drop (didnt get trivial loot code either), so will be back again trying.

Solo one of them

In the hallway behind Muggle, leading into the Batling caves, there is a single spawn batlingt that is easy to solo.
They have few hps (something like 250 to 300) and cast for 19 to 132 depending on which spell they throw off.
The batling eye drops rarely, and personally I would never sell it off at all for anything under 100 plat.
Great item!

OK..for some reason I see a lot of bashing on this item in the posts...and I don't understand... the dustscryer's crystal ball is the same damn thing and it was sellin for 5k a while *********** this item is awesome...hell before velious there was 2 items for range int..one was nec only...this is still great for any caster...Don't bash a good item...

Accually, the Dustscryers crystall ball is 2 int and 30 mana, 30 mana being 3 int at level 50 basicly. This is still pretty goof for the level 20something who can get it though. I was thinking of getting a couple to pull with heh.

Easy enough? Theses things are casters (hit a 22 mage for 101 per cast) and they gang up on you quickly.
Ok Range item

Woah, thats a first. Never double posted before, sorry.
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 07 2002 at 1:42 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) That is a first, the first posting I've seen from storm hammer, that is. How can you explain paying an additional $40 a month for some fancy shmancy server while the rest of eq goes to hell? I heard it said they should fix what they've already got before they go and add a whole bunch more stuff! The patches for Luclin had barely slowed down when this bad boy went up and you know what? This kind of crap is totally unfair for people just starting: I have worked my *** off in game to make it to level 18, but I still can't participate in any decent quests or GM events! WTF? This game is so geared towards the higher level people, well I just haven't had time to level up yet. Where's my fun?

How common are these things I have killed about 10 of them and no eye every once in awhile I get the message that "this kill is trivial for you or your group.....does that mean it had the eye on it but I am too high a level to retreive the item?? I would apprechiate the feedback.

Indeed, being it's a magic item it won't loot off the bats if the mob is trivial to you. As suggested just get a mule or lower people in your guild to take 'em on and then have them loot and give, no problems then! Or, you could try the old fashioned way and BUY one, but I'm not too sure how many people would pay for expendable +2 item.

these guys torched my druid when i went in there... worst part was they conned green :( make sure you have decent hp, or better yet mez the bunch and you'll have an easier time with em
A lot harder than level 10
# Mar 19 2001 at 11:32 PM Rating: Decent
These drop off of the mischevious batlings, or whatever they're called. They are all wizards and usually in groups of two or three, meaning to kill one you have to endure another two blasting you with seemingly infinite mana. Don't try it without a few mid 20's.

One good Enchanter or Ranger should be able to clear up the aggro process. But just in case, you might want to have a few in the group who can tank.
Very nice.

If the level to attain at 10 is correct, this is one of the first items I've seen coming out of the Warrens that doesn't suck =). I'd use this even at lvl 24, sure beats the dragoon dirk I have sitting in my range right now.
Not too bad
# Mar 19 2001 at 10:12 PM Rating: Decent
From a lowbie zone this isn't half bad. It's a lot better than the stupid Splitpaw Eye I still have in my ranged slot at 40 ;) Plus the int would help a bit when I fear kite. And who can say no to a free eyeball to lifetap?
if you use this..
# Mar 19 2001 at 8:37 PM Rating: Default
first off, why?

secondly, hope someone doesn't kill your eye as they have 1 HP and anyone can attack them

I don't believe the Eye of Zomm is 1hp, unless they've changed it. I can remember once, way back, I was messing around in Steamfont Mountains (oh, come on, you remember the guard killing days, admit it =P) with my wiz, and I started leveling some newb by summoning eyes for him as fast as I could (I was so proud of myself...then the guards killed him when they caught on that he was attacking a player's eye....) and I can remember that he wouldn't always kill it in one hit. Heh. Not like this makes any difference whatsoever. =P

Why? Why not? Perhaps you didn't know, but INT is *good* for casters.

What he meant was using the ability. It's expendable, so once you use the charge, the eye poofs, and you'll use the bonus.
RE: if you use this..
# Mar 23 2001 at 10:24 AM Rating: Default
When you use it does it actually poof, or is it just reduced to 0 charges?
RE: if you use this..
# Mar 24 2001 at 1:45 PM Rating: Decent
expendable means it disappears, just like potions
