Yes it sucks today, and the quest is too hard for what you get by today's standards, but in the early days there weren't as many quests that you could do like there are now and there was no Defiant gear dropping. The original dev team didn't believe in handing out insanely powerful items for doing practically nothing like they do in EQ today. (Kill a level 1 snake and get a piece of Defiant gear, seriously?) You had to work hard in the original EQ for only minor gear upgrades or a few coins to buy your next round of spell scrolls. How many rangers ran around with the Short Sword of Morin for a long time, which has an even worse dps than this has, before upgrading? Or Barb Warriors using the Langseax? Or some other really old school weapon that nobody would even consider in 2019? You have to consider this before posting comments about how bad a really old item is because they weren't bad when they were new. Looking back, I think Bazaar really spoiled people. It opened up access to other players hand me downs to an extent that wasn't possible previously and killed prices on many items to the point where a new player with just a few hours of play could buy gear that was better than what you could potentially get on an old school boss mob raid. Entire expansions were made obsolete because you could buy better gear in the Bazaar than you could make, hunt or quest for in the old content. Before Bazaar, you had to go to wherever the trade zone was set up on your server and deal with people directly instead of with a selling mule. This limited your choices and kept prices high when there were only a coupe of dozen sellers at most instead of hundreds like in the Bazaar. A newbie wasn't going to be buying high end raid loots from 3+ expansions higher than the content they were currently in for next to nothing like they could do when Bazaar came in.

Warning - I do find that in extended fights or non stop pulling that my troll runs out of stamina while wielding this baby.

Magic resist is VERY useful... Learned to my cost =(
#Anonymous, Posted: May 09 2001 at 3:04 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I gotta say, the damage delay really sucks. I have been having a 24damage 49delay which is wayyy better and 15 magic SV's isn't a big deal when up against 8 more damage. All I have to say is if you bother to do the quest, you are really desparate for a weapon. I'd use a rusty weapon over that piece of junk. And it's 2h blunt!

i have to say sir,

you are a MORON! rusty 2hs is 12/43 or something... for god`s sake at this level, (10) what else are you going to get? its a fhaking easy quest and 15 MR is GREAT at this level... you do realize that MR makes offensive spells less efficient when casted on you, right? and who gives a **** if its 2h blunt? at that low of a level, all your wep skills suck *** anyway!

sorry i just dont put up with people ******** that this isnt a good enuff weapon for them. if you dont like the RWM, go get another friggin weapon and stop being a ****.

well first i cant lol read his post because of filters but anyway you can buy this for 350 but you know whats better? buying a MoSS for 400 and its 19/29 10 int and thats much better because its 1hb but anyway and anyway no SK in his right mind would pick a 2hb over 1hs-2hs-1hb because there are like 10 2hb available to us and we need skill in 2hs 1hs and 1hb and if youre over 20points behind it takes FOREVER to build your skill and no one wants to do that so before you curse and yell scream and holler why not play an sk and try to level your skills high enough to wield this or spend your time doing something else other than complaining on a website about how people talk about weapons

The weapon can be used by an Erudite, and the correct weight is 13.0.

This weapon was put in looong before Erudites could be Shadow Knights. HEF is probably just a data error on the part of the programmer. You may want to check with someone who has a current version of this item to see if it's been changed.
kinda strange
