Ranged weapon

I'd say it is about right for the level range. Plus this goes in the ranged slot and looks pretty keen with you throw it. The stats ain't no big thing when you get to chuck a big stick at people =D
Worse than a cracked staff!

Not Useful

Level 10 to attain? A cracked staff is same damage and 1 less delay(5 32) and drops from decaying skeletons.
Tanto

Tanto means small dagger in Japanese.
This is a bo stick, what were they thinking?

They were thinkin of adding in kewl oriental names, accuracy wasn't part of that consideration.

its messed up that these new weapons coming out of the warrens are pretty cool looking but totally suck. they should make a quest out of these to get better weapons that look the same.

hey dude
level 10
at level 10 this is good if your not twinked
regarding what a level 10 person uses

Actually, At level 10 even on a new server meaning no possibility of twinking, people are all using better weapons. There is the Giant Snake Fang 5/29 and that is even usable by Casters. Now, at level 10 on an older server, Fine Steel kind of becomes an option, which is quite a bit better as well.

Additionally, Cracked Staves are decently common and drop of level 1 creatures.

A cracked Staff is 5/32
I see no reason to use this weapon.
At least they could use a dictonary when writing this
# Mar 16 2001 at 8:48 PM Rating: Default
actually german here but a bit familiar with asian weapons: bamboo is the wood i guess
Tanto is a swung short DAGGER
Bo is a simple monk battlestaff

So this is a sillznamedwood daggerstaff_ sillz name, lets hope it looks spearlike so theres a reason for it 8p

As someone responded for the Wakizashi version, Bo was probably put in unintentionally as short for of Boken -- practice weapon, usually a sword

Ah, that makes a bit more sense. A bokken (or bokuto) is still fairly specific, I really don't know of "tanto bokken" is a good use of the word, but I wouldn't actively misunderstand what they meant in that case.

I expect these Kobold weapons are the first step, they have spoken about adding more extensively to Odus in the future. I count it very possible that Verant will end up adding better weapons that use these graphics in the future, if player response is favorable.

A note on the Japanese nature of the Warrens weapons:

1) Why did Verant use Japanese weapons, anyway? For one thing, half the people in the world are looking at the names and probably thinking "what the hell is a tanto?!" The term Katana is fairly common, but the other weapons are relatively unheard of outside of those who take Kendo or actually research the art of Ninjitsu. For another thing, there are no racial diffrentiations among the human population of Norrath...so where would the Japanese weaponry/naming come from anyway?

2) Why do all the Japanese weapons have absolutely no value whatsoever? All of them are under-powered as weapons, and their only apparent purpose is newbie pawn-fodder. Is Verant making a statement on their views about Asian people...? (LOL I won't even go there, I'm kidding with you Verant!)

3) When the hell did Kobolds learn Japanese?

4) Hell, when did Kobolds learn ironmongery?

5) Why can't the Warrens have items actually somewhat useful? Erudite cleric/pally only armor, indeed...
