It's worth it
# Jan 14 2002 at 2:57 PM Rating: Decent
As a non-tailor, this is worthwhile for my troll SK, espcially since I'm more prone to picking up those heavy weapons and gear.
Looks cool

10% reduction not bad for pouch
Combine?
# Oct 08 2001 at 11:45 AM Rating: Default
What does the combine button combine? I tried to make some SOW potions in it and it wouldn't let me. I have not yet tried to stack potions however.

If you want a weight reducing bag, buy a tailored large bag from an aspiring tailor, they reduce weight 10% also. When I was still making them, I was auctioning them for 5pp and still couldn't sell them easily. Or find a low quality bear skin, and 6 spiderling silks, and most tailors will combine for you for a very low fee. This bag above has value only as a quest item.
Off of?

Could someone tell me what drops this bag. Is it a random drop off any of the shamans in the warrens? I know there is a named shaman near the king. But not sure if he drops it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I looted mine in the Warrens from a shaman in the room right next to the King room. I was attacked by the greens and I'm still using the bag because on my server weight reduction bags aren't so easy to get.

Well, it's not dropped in the warrens, it's dropped in the new area Stonebrunt Mountains. There it is random off any shaman, I got 2 from like 4 kills or whatever so not uncommon or anything.

Actually, it drops both in the Warrens and in Stonebrunt off of random Kobolds, not just Shamans. I've spent several levels hunting in the area and I've seen a ton of them.

It is weigt reduction
# Mar 16 2001 at 11:07 PM Rating: Default
I got one this morning, put a 10 stone item in it, and it got reduced to 9 stones, so it does have 10% weight reduction

Then you must have an item we haven't seen, I just put 34 stone of items in one and it didn't change my current weight one bit

Yes it works - put 6 heavy onjects in it and you weigh less. One thing I noticed with my evil eye bag is that it dors not do stacks correctly. If I put in a stack of rations at like 14 stone I dont get the full reduction like only the amount for the first item in a stack. I wonder if this is true with summoned weight 0% bags?

Ummm.... stackable items only weigh the weight of 1 regardless of how many are in the stack, so why would you expect go get more weight reduction on a full stack than on a single item?

I also put over 10 stone of stuff in one and didn't get any weight reduction.
Alchemy
# Mar 16 2001 at 10:29 PM Rating: Default
I tried combined 2 milks in it just to see if the bag would destory them and it gave a message to the effect of, "You do not have Alchemy skill." The milks stayed too so this is ok for carrying stuff around in. You don't have to worry about hitting the combined button...unless you have Alchemy then I don't know what will happen. I got mine off a Greater Shaman FYI (Big Suprise).
RE: Alchemy

Even if you are NOT a Shaman, you can still use the normal medicine bag. I've done it with my druid for making dyes just to see if it would work. It tells you "This item is trivial for you to make" because you can't increase your skill at all (because you don't have the skill) but you can still combine them successfully.

Now, I had a terrible success rate for making the dyes this way, about 40% so I waited until a Rogue friend of mine showed up to do it with his poison skill.

Now, I'm not saying they didn't make a new kind of container that can only be used by Shamans because they've already done that with races with the Racial Tailoring sewing kits that can only be used by Wood Elves and Halflings respectively.

That's what this probably is. A bag that can only be combined if you are a shaman class character. They probably just decided to make the fail message a little more ambiguous.

they changed the plain old medicine bag a little while back so only those with alchemy skill could use it. They did it because people without alchemy skill were making their own potions whereas they shouldn't have been able to. Really, try to combine some dye materials, doesn't work.
RE: Alchemy
# Mar 18 2001 at 2:21 PM Rating: Decent
Does this mean they also changed it so people that are not gnomes can no longer tinker?
RE: Alchemy
# Oct 04 2001 at 6:28 AM Rating: Decent
Actually I believe only Gnomes 16+ can do even the basic tinkering now.
so if that's true....
# Mar 17 2001 at 5:43 PM Rating: Default
then does it still have a weight reduction component? if it does i wanna get one, seems to be onlny thing of anyworth to a ranger in this dungeon (low str and all)
RE: so if that's true....
# Mar 20 2001 at 11:10 PM Rating: Default

Weight reduction?
# Mar 16 2001 at 5:36 PM Rating: Default
Is this a weight reduction bag? I am thinking since it has a combine button, myabe it is another bag for shamans to combine potions with?
RE: Weight reduction?
# Apr 24 2001 at 5:32 PM Rating: Default
