was Soloing in PoHate with my mage. Killed PH's for about 4 hours, MAgi Spawned and dropped the staff. Went to kill Phinni a couple hours later in Kedge, and he Dropped two water staffs.... To bad one rotted
how much is this to MQ
I heard today that the earth staff no longer drops in hate, or at least ONLY in hate. Can anyone verify this as truth or rumour?

Huh? It just dropped two nights ago off Magi P'Tasa. Of course we still haven't seen the essence of a vampire after slaying an ungodly amount of revenants. The night before the decrepit hide dropped for the SK epic so I'm betting on seeing eye of innoruuk drop (necro epic item) before the essence does. Proof again that SoE hates enchanters and wishes they were never made.

I went to hate last night with my 63 level mage a 65 druid and a 65 ranger.. spent about 5 hours in magi ptasa room pulling mobs and keeping rooms cleared... Magi spawned once dropped wand of swords. male revanant ph spawned next. He dropped the staff of earth:) He was not wielding it. Three pieces of apothic (robe,bracer,sleeves) dropped also.. as well as numerous other armor. The three of us were able to pull nonstop and Magi presented no problems.. Good luck:)

I got this to drop off of the placeholder - Forsaken Revenant on Feb. 27 2004. He was not wielding it. This was about the fifth or sixth trip I made up there and finally he dropped it on the first round of pops. This camp is not hard for a small group - and the loot is decent. I didn't mind hunting this piece instead of doing the MQ. Good luck to those of you working on the epic!

Well I got my Earth Staff finally. The Staff fell off of a male forsaken revenant and he was NOT weilding it btw, so you never know. Kind of a luck of the draw. Anyway, I wanted to say that a mage and another pet caster, preferably a necro or another mage with 61+ pet can easily duo this whole zone just about (with an exception to big namers of course). So don't waste your time trying to organize a big raid or a group in Hate because it is not that hard anymore. Soloing it would be a cutting it a little close, even if you try kiting. I camped a total of 2 days at 5-6 hours each day at the Zone In and it fell. So it is not an entirely rare drop as it once was, so think twice before you pay 50k or 75k or 100k for MQ when all you need to do is invest some time. Anyway the aa xp is not bad, especially when you are duoing and the no drop equipment can be turned in to guild masters in PoK for gems and XP. So keep your head up and good luck to yas!!

This dropped while xping in new PoHate 2 days ago. I (wizard) MQ'ed it for my mage guildmate. Was kind of annoying trying to find the high elf chump in FV, as all the pilgrims and drixies see thru invis... being a dark elf and all pretty much made them angry at me. =) Anyhow, using invis trick worked fine. One happy mage, and one more freed up bank slot for me.

1,000 Revenants dead looking for essence and I havent seen one yet.

My 61 air pet cons white = even to a lvl 60 player.
He is lvl 60.
Now about the staff who cares what it does. I want it for 10 minutes so I can finally turn in and complete my epic. What I want to know is Seriously how many people have seen it drop off revanants and if they were forlorn or forsaken, and if they are weilding it.
looking for any info I can ive been up there almost every day since the revamp after it. (weeks now)

I finally looted one yesterday off of a Forsaken Revanant (male). He did not show the stick in his hand, and there were 2 groups of us pulling to the zoneline so he came from marginally close.
Soooo they are dropping but extremely rare, I had hunted for weeks seeing 3 essence of vampire chanter peices drop before I did the first mage staff.

Raided hate a few weeks ago with guild, then after the raid we pulled mobs to the zone line for exp, quest drops, and the chanter epic piece.
Well, first Rev that we pulled dropped the staff and went to our amazed and elated mage, who is nearly finished with his epic.

Ever wonder why they put mage epic piece in a plane where they cant get with out a wiz while wizard epic piece is in fear which anyone can just walk in. just doesnt seem right

Well, it stinks now. When you could walk into PoH from Oasis like you used to be able to there was no difference. But now, it's just Spec Island.
that effect says random, so would it be possible to loose your pet right in the middle of a fight?
Effect is listed wrong. It's a clickable effect, not a proc, as with all mage's pet focus.

I have seen mages, in swarms of five and ten, hunting the just kill everything approach. I got mine BEFORE I started my epic, if I couldn't get THIS piece, I wasn't bothering with the rest of the nightmare.

When I was younger I was in a group with a cleric and chanter and rogue they would always want me to check to see if quillamane was up I would they killed and looted the cloak If I had know at the time that it was for mage epic I would not have helped them since then the chanter has gotten a cloak also. Mages like druids have hard times getting pieces to there epics dont judge all of them by the thoughtless few.

FYI ihad a maxed 49 earth pet last night that con'd even to a lvl 41 shaman.even though the pet is only 41 it wreaks havoc.It would eaisly give 50+ melee people a run for thier money in a fight.
OK question how many Mages actually have time to use this before they get thier epic. I know of about 1/2 the mages are waiting on only this last item for thier epic. So basically by the time you get this you should be turning this in for yer epic. Just a thought. I know there might be a few mages out there who get this piece before yer ready to FINALLY complete yer epic consider yer self lucky

Just to clear some things up since there are sooo many people posting here that just dont know what the heck they're talking about. Yes, this staff drops off of Magi Ptasa who is upstairs in Hate. It however does NOT drop every time unfortunately. Also this staff IS the focus item for your pets at SPELL LEVEL Post 50. Your shovel still works for your lvl 49 pet. This staff will buff Your 51 and 57 earth pet. We are not talking about the actual level of the pet, we are talking about the level of the spell used to summon the pet.
As far as what it does to the pet, on an earth pet it gives it better agility (about like a water pet has) and higher strength (better than an ogre).

Actually you are wrong. This item was in the game when the max player level was 50 (it used to drop off Innie). It will buff the lvl 49 and above earth pets. Also, the shovel buffs by adding dex/str/hp whatever. This buffs by actually summoning a pet one level higher than the normal level for a summoned pet.

NO pet will ever be above lvl 49 or 50. for if they were they could summon and this verant will not allow. epic is lvl 49.

I hate to be the one to burst the bubble, but as of Planes of Power the 61+ pets are actually level 61+. Don't believe me? Go ahead and con away. Level 62 pet, Servant of Marr is red to this 56 Mage.

They are talking about levels as in the pet's SPELL level. Like a level 59 pet spell.

This is just fyi, Shovel of Ponz is the pre-50 earth focus, Mastery Staff is for 50+ pet spells. I looted it Friday night, my first (!) trip to Hate. It is MUCH easier to get now than it was, from all I have heard. Got 2 pieces Apothic also, off the mini-boss ). Good hunting all.

does no one else realize that the staff only works on the pets pre50? but this item is still godly to any mage because it is one of the harder parts of the mage epic, well just though a mage should post to set ya'll straight

The Staff of elemental mastery is used on pets 49 and above.
The regular focus items, shovel, stein, etc. are the ones that cannot be used on post-50 pets.
