My two cents
# Mar 03 2004 at 4:45 PM Rating: Decent
I agree totally that this is an AWESOME piece of armor...and almost ALL awesome pieces of armor are, logically harder than %#@$ to get. Otherwise, they'd be ordinary armor! I'm a 53rd druid, and have Elysian BP, leggings, and boots so far (if you don't know stats, look 'em up poons ;)), and will be getting more when I can. Awesome set; but pucker up boys and girls, UP is no place for whiners and whimps! :) Right clickie RotG would be great, but I keep my trusty rusty ES BP in a 100% WR sack for the free chloro, till I can get ahold of one of THESE babies...someday.

The druid class is by far and away the best mix, all things considered, and I wouldn't have my main any other class :)

No. No. No. No. No. Aaaand... No. ToV REQUIRES a raid if you're in your 50's.
Notes on Snare and Fixation
# Sep 19 2002 at 10:47 AM Rating: Good
Just a quick note. This may be a recent change, but Snare and Fixation of Ro do not cause as much aggro as they used to. While you should still be careful with how soon you use them, you won't get instant-aggro anymore like you used to.

In Kael raids against the big boys, I snare them at 80% and hit them with my Fixation debuff. As long as I stay back, I do not get aggro. The few times I have gotten summoned, the mob would hit me once then ignore me.

On the AC thing...AC is nice as long as you dont have to give up resists and WIS for it. I am often in groups with no chanter (the horror!), so I usually end up root-parking adds. That means I HAVE to gain the aggro of the mob to pull it out of melee range of the group. In tight quarters (like hands room in KC), I have to let it get within melee of me when rooting it. Getting the melees in my group to back up 2 steps to stay out of the rooted mob's range is another task entirely LOL.
Target Group Buff
# Apr 01 2002 at 2:46 AM Rating: Good
For the few posters that think Target Group Buff owns with this.

1. The BP is great.. (all quest druid BP own)

2. Target Group buff DOES NOT work with ANY clickable buff

Why make it BL?

RE: Why make it BL?

Where it say BL?

Not that I mind, but I notice there's at least one post like this on EVERY piece of druid only equipment...

So kewl that BL wanna be like us 8) I am flattered, but let me assure you...
We druids wear alot of garbage before we ever have anything remotely nice 8)

When Luclin was first coming out Allas thought that all armor that druids could use, beastlords would be able to use, so he added beastlord to all druid armor, then later found out that wasn't the case.

A couple of things.

First, AC is irrelevant to me, for a couple reasons.

One is that anything that I'm getting hit by at my level is gonna smear me no matter what. If I've gained that much aggro, then I'm gonna die, and the extra AC isn't gonna help.

Another is that I DO pull my weight in my groups (which is mostly strictly guild members anymore), and the only way I gain aggro is if I'm nuking more than I should be, stacking dots, or using fixation. However, if you have good tanks then you have nothing to worry about. The only time I get hit anymore is if most of our melees are down and I'm on aggro list from healing.

The stats on the tunic ARE great. They're all nice, and the effect is awesome, especially now that you can targetgroupbuff. Comparing it to treeweave is a joke. If you're wearing treeweave simply because you get hit too much, then you're playing the class wrong.

Druids DO pull. I pull Fear whenever we go back there and I don't need AC for that, I need resists. With all my resist jewelry, gear and buffs, about the only thing I can't resist is dispels. Resists are MUCH more important for a druid in the high level game than AC because your tanks and wizzies will have all the aggro. When you're in ToV trying to get quest drops, you'll wish you're wearing gear with great resists, wis, mana and effects rather than AC when the mobs you're fighting cast AE rain spells.

Guess you've never kited summoning mobs before, AC + HP + a good mana pool will ensure your a victory. It's good to keep AC as high as you possibly can no matter what.

Combine good AC with high Dex and some good channeling and u can stay alive long enuff for the evac to go off when it's critical. So AC is a lil important at higher levels....

I completely agree. AC at level 60 is mostly irrelevant. The only time I need AC is when I'm solo'ing something and I just LD'ed and roots came off. Even then, I combine Elysian gear w/ SS and still have some decent AC, upwards of 910 with self buffs. Oh yea.. and right click group regrowth is simply amazing.

I read somewhere that right-click group buffs do not work with /targetgroupbuff. Can anyone confirm or deny this rumor?
RE: eh?
# Sep 09 2002 at 7:03 PM Rating: Default
First off, I do not have THIS tunic, I have the Kael one with the same effect. Regrowth clickable is not target group capable, I need to be in the group and the members have to be relatively close for it to work. I also get the message that the spell is to powerful for the person I'm trying to cast it on if I have a lower level group member targeted. I try to avoid that by simply targeting myself. Hope this helps. I believe the effect is the same on the Skyshrine and Kael tunics. I am tempted to get the Skyshrine one though as it appears the stats are somewhat better than the Kael one.

I agree with Phluux. I am currently a 37 druid, and I haven't worried about AC since around lvl 30 when I started gathering wis equipment. AC doesn't matter, because if I am playing well, I don't get hit.

high end gaming

just for arguements sake, druids (or at least i) can get a lot of aggro from high level MOBs, as i'm usually the designated snarer, annuler, debuffer, and backup healer. i get beat on quite a bit and can't FD like a monk to get the aggro off me.

You have to learn timing. Timing is very critical on high end raids. Seldom do I get hit less its from an add that sneeks up.

Debuffs and fire spells are strong agro pullers

Watch the health bar: The middle 3 bubbles of health is where you come in exept for some debuffs. Casting a DD on a mob in the forst bubble can pull agro. On the last bubble your most likley to waist it. Most mobs turn at that point so the warriors get pritty much a simmple kill after that. Then there is the classic spells that land on the corpse. What a total waste. I usualy sit at this point and med up. Or rebuff the group before the puller runs away.

Snare (movment debuff): You bet it pulls agro. The main reason for snare in a raid it to prevent the mob from running and agroing the whole zone. Therefor, wait till the mob is down a bubble or 2 in health before snaring. You might also warn your group saying "snaring get ready to tuant." I have also found it good to root before snaring. The root will wear off well before the mob turns.

Debuffing: DISPELL MAGIC seems to pull agro right off. I cast this on mobs known to have damage shields. FIXATION OF RO is fire based but seldom do I get agro. BREATH OF RO you can pull agro so keep your distance and wait just a bit. I seldom use dots if we pull a mob that will drop before 1 min. I have es bracers however so I cast taht anytime.

Sitting: Some raids you can't sit at all while fighting. Garanted to get sommoned or hit. If you can sit wait for about 10 seconds before you sit to allow the melee players to accumulate enough hate that the mob will ignore your helpless sitting but.

Note on tuant: I have a ranger and a warrior. One thing to remember about tuant is it is a very close range skill. You have to be prity close or you get the message "you are too far to tuant your target" So if you are running you are very likely making there tuant usless. Stand and root. At the level you need to be for raids your channeling will be sufficient to get the spell off.

Keep thes simple things in mind and you will waist much less of the clerics mana.
#Anonymous, Posted: Oct 03 2001 at 9:47 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Im a noob who likes to read the first 5 posts, skip to the bottom and post my flame.... =) sort of. Druids whining about AC need to look at the AC on the caster robes. High end gaming and raiding... how many druids are tanking? 1 or 2 if your a uber guild and boared? My guess would be closer to none. Sure you get hit with AE spells, but when did AC help when you got blasted with a spell? Druids in a raid are nothing more than baggage ;) Cant out heal a cleric, cant out DD a mage or wiz, cant out dot a necro, ya can sow the group... sit back... watch T.V., and wait for your guild to kill everything while you get to roll on the occasional druid drop. Stop whining about AC and be happy you get quest armor. If I had my way Id nerf druids down to the bare minumim, take away all the quest armor you whine about getting, and change your name to cab driver. Stop whining about your crappy AC and take a loot at you sv magic being like 65. And a druid kiting that gets killed by a melee mob 5uxXoRs.
*SIGH* you're a tard.
# Oct 21 2001 at 4:20 AM Rating: Decent
Wow, are you clueless. Yes Wizards can out DD and port druids. Yes Clerics can out heal and HP buff druids. Yes Rangers can outtrack druids. Yes Mages can out damage shield druids. Yes Shamans can outbuff druids. Yes Necros can out DoT druids. Yes Enchanters can out charm and out fear druids. But what other class can do ALL those things besides druids? The answer is NONE! Druids are jacks of all trades and master of none. That is their strength, versatility. Druids are not worthless baggage on raids either. Their group regens, cold resist, heat resists, HP buffs are valuable. Plus their damage output with DD's and dots is not to be underestimated. And last but not least, their roles as secondary healer is not to be ignored. If you've ever gone on a raid against DtV in Kael, or VtS in VL you'd know it takes more than just clerics to keep the main tanks alive. As far as AC is concerned, it's important to all classes. Not just main tanks, pullers, chanters, clerics, and shamans. Even at the higher levels people don't just live in raid settings. Solo or group work AC is important. There are ****** whiny incompetant druids out there for sure. Just like there are ****** whiny worthless players in every class. You're one of them Neez Nuts.

RE: neez nuts
# Oct 17 2001 at 12:48 AM Rating: Default
Snare is the only spell I've ever seen, (besides the wizard high end nuke) that can pull the targeted mob off the taunter. Ususally its the adds that attack the clerics and such. Sare has a wierd effect on the main mob. If the warrior misses a taunt is seens to me that they start heading straight to me the one who snared them. This doesnt go for all mobs. I've been hunting specs and they all chase me every where after snareing them. They hit for 99 damage on me and a few of though and im close to dead. Everyone keeps yelling at me to stand still for heals or taunts off. It forces me to take them and quad kite them till their low emough for the tanks to bash up. On tactic I've done in groups Id snare all and run the adds off kiting them. while the rest of the group kills the first one. We do need more AC, but what iv'e realized is that every class has their strongpoints and weakpoints. The trick to good groups is bieng able to expoilt the strong points in all classes. I really love patient, Well formed groups of veteren players. Druids have their strong points if you've ever faught in a dungeon of goblins than you know what an unsnared gobln will bring back with him after he runs off. So I disagree with you're label of druids being "Baggage". You need to learn more about group dynamics.
RE: neez nuts
# Jun 01 2002 at 11:18 AM Rating: Default
Snare as a life saving tool alright...

I used snare in ME to pull a MOB of an under 10 health tank. He was getting killed. LOM I just cast snare 4 times and that thing forgot all about the tank and came after me. It gave the cleric enough time (me playing the chase me game) to get mana up to heal the tank.

Against summoning things, it is almost certain death but, against things that don't summon, it can be an extremely useful tool to get aggro from a hurting group...

Just another tactic to add to your bag of tricks for later on ;)

other sweet druid BPs
# Sep 11 2001 at 1:30 AM Rating: Good
actually, there are some better druid BPs out there. some are similiar or comparible, while others are simply a lot better. the thurgadin quest bp for druids is the crappiest of the 3. here's some i think are better or at least equal to the rowyl's:

Crystal Chitin Chestguard
AC: +25 Agi: +7 Wis: +10 Cha: +7 Mana: +10

Ancient Wyvern Hide Tunic +40 AC +10 Sta +20 Dex +10 vsPos +10 vsDis

Twisted Nature Chestguard +32 AC +5 Str +15 Wis +15 Int +15 vsMg +15 vsPos +15 vsDis +50 HP +90 Mana

Robe of the Azure Sky +18 AC +20 Int +15 vsMg +15 vsFire +15 vsCold +15 vsPos +15 vsDis +85 HP +100 Mana

Nature Walker's Chestguard +27 AC +5 Str +5 Dex +15 Wis +10 vsMg +3 vsFire +2 vsCold +3 vsPos +2 vsDis +40 HP +80 Mana

i like the effect on the rowyl's, but that can be carried around in your inventory and put on when you need to refresh the spell. i like to wear my fungi tunic at level 60. has good ac (21 i think) and the regen really adds up, especially when you stack it, againsts all those AE velious MOBs or fighting in lava, etc. at this point, wis means very little to me, as i have about 230 wis with my resist gear on and can get it to close to 300 if i put max wis gear on. don't get me wrong tho, this bp is very nice, just not THE BEST as some here have claimed it to be. and one thing might be the best for you, but not for someone else.

BP is good.

Two things to think on, you wont get this unless your 50+ or else someone gets it for you by multi questing. So its an urber item, the gems for it drop in other **** hard places too and are not that common. The armor drop is rare tooo.

So the BP is very nice yes, but as for AC it is important, you will draw agro in grps, and you will get hit (Ive seen times where the tanks have been bashing the living datlights out a mob, its under 50% I cast one spell and Im light up like a Chrsitmast try agro wise).

You can say about how good you are or are not to not draw agro but it will happen. Your clr may die, your clr may go oom, you clr may go LD... There will come a time when you need that AC. So fact is this AC is important in grps.

20AC is weak, TreeWeave 25 (I know halflings cant use) As this item is a rare as hell hard urber item to get, I realy wish they had put the extra 10 AC to make it 30 or so. Would have been nice. After all its a special item.........

OK rest stats rock, effect - 600 mana grp lvl 58 regen spell, do I need to say anything on that ! YMMUY

Put half a thought into what your saying. I play a druid also and the tanks are taunting(like any good tank should) I never have a problem with mobs agroing on me unless I chain-cast or the tanks messes up pull really bad so AC doesn't play a factor at all. If things go so wrong that I need to start worrying about AC then it's time to cast my Evac spell cause the MoBs have already gotten through the tanks.
